A former friend recommended this place years ago but I only tried it now. I got the Gyoza and the dragon roll. When I tell you it was so good I practically wolfed the whole thing down. it was like a trip to flavorville! Happy International Sushi Day! I had to celebrate with a visit to one of my regular sushi spots, Love Sushi. Love Sushi is walking distance from my work and I purchase lunch from them at least every other week. They have great lunch deals like 2 rolls for $10 and a miso soup add on for only $1.50. It is such an affordable option when I do not feel like packing a lunch or I want to treat myself. All my coworkers and myself get the sweet potato roll as one of the rolls. It is warm, a little crispy, and so delicious as it just melts in your mouth. My second favorite roll is the AAC which includes avocado, asparagus, and cucumber. It has a nice crunch with the asparagus and has a generous amount of avocado. Overall they are very vegan friendly with vegetable based sushi rolls. The miso soup is vegan which is such a great treat for me! At only $1.50 extra I almost always purchase it. The soup really helps me feel full and I love the salty and savory taste. Love Sushi has a great online ordering system. I have never had issues with my order being delayed, incorrect, or anything less than great quality. The inside of Love Sushi is really nice however I always take my meal to go. Sometime I need to stay awhile and enjoy more than just two rolls. read more

This was our first time here. The sushi itself tasted really good, but the overall experience was disappointing. We ordered the Phoenix Maki (R37), which is listed on the menu as a 6-piece roll, but we were served only 5 pieces. When we asked about it, the waiter went back and forth with us trying to justify it, saying she had worked there for years and that this is how it has always been. She also mentioned the owner doesn't adjust the menu for every roll, even though the menu clearly states 6pc. The issue wasn't the missing piece as much as how it was handled. There was no acknowledgment of the discrepancy or effort to resolve it. When we said it would likely be our first and last time dining there, the response was essentially that it was fine. The sushi was good, but based on the experience, I wouldn't choose to sit down and eat there again. This is just something first-time customers should be aware of. read more

Very surprised. I am not a HUGE sushi afficionado, but I have what I would say is an above average level of knowledge and appreciation for it. We were visiting some friends who had party trays of Love Sushi's sushi and I was really impressed by the quality of the fish, size, and assembly. When I looked up Love Sushi, well, it's not the kind of place you expect to find good sushi from. In any case, I had to be polite so I didn't "dig" in at my friend's house, so I ordered a Love House Club some days later. My review will go from the worst to the best. I did take out, and the service is about what I'd expect from a food truck. It's gritty. Not a problem, I'm here for the food, not the service - hence the take out. People eating in probably have a very different experience. The layout of the restaurant is extremely casual, and actually reminds me of some of the "organized messiness" of small restaurants in Japan. Again, I'm doing take out, not here for the ambience, so not a problem. I had my own soy sauce and wasabi at home, but the ones provided with the tray were passable in a pinch. I've had better from grocery store sushi. Not bad, just a few levels below the sushi itself. I'm not a big Maki fan, but they can be tasty to me if done right. There is no choice on what Special Maki roll you get, and they made "Crush on You" for my order, which had Yellowtail on the inside and salmon and eel on the outside, along with sliced almonds. It was okay. The nigiri and sashimi were all very nice, especially the sashimi. The nigiri are on the larger side, which is what I prefer, and the sashimi slices are positively huge. The tuna, yellowtail, and salmon were soft, rich, silky, and very smooth, contrasted by the red snapper that's firmer and lean. I really had a great time savoring each fish. It's spectacular, just as I remembered from my friend's house. I think they went a little overboard with the sushi rice vinegar, as the sweetness was just a little too outstanding, but how much vinegar gets mixed in is a chef's preference so no complaints here. In all, I am really really impressed by Love Sushi. This is easily the best relatively-inexpensive sushi I've had in the DMV in the $2-3 per piece range, especially given the combination of quality and size of fish you get for that price. read more

Had shrimp tempura appetizer and the oil it was fried in was so clean, they came out light and golden. Next I had salmon, white tuna and yellowtail nigiri, each one was fresh and just melted in my mouth, exactly what you want in sushi. My friends and I were craving sushi and we've heard a lot of great things about Love Sushi. It's located in the Gaither Center strip mall and if you can't find parking in the front, there's plenty in the back and sides. We started off with complimentary miso soup and edamame which were normal. Our sushi order consisted of: -Ashley Roll -Love House Club -California Roll (this has a peanut warning but we literally couldn't taste any peanut, but just be aware if you have someone who is allergic to legumes or nuts) And two other ones I can't remember but generally speaking the sushi quality is higher quality and not fishy at all than some places in the area but it's not amazing enough to warrant a five star. Love sushi is a solid spot to get your sushi fix. The sushi is fresh and the portions are plentiful! Their prices are also reasonable compared to other places in MoCo. My go-to order is Crunchy Spicy Salmon rolls and Crunchy Spicy Tuna rolls. While they are really simple rolls, I've had bad experiences at other places. Love sushi delivers on their Maki rolls, providing a great fish-to-rice ratio. We also got the Ikura (Salmon Roe), which was great! The roe was packed to the brim and overflowing and again, perfect ratio of rice-to-roe. Unfortunately, I was so hungry that I scarfed my food before I could snap a picture . My fianceé however got the Chirashi bowl and we did manage to get a picture so please feast your eyes on this massive bowl of sashimi over rice! (I'll add some more pics next time we order! ) My only complaint is, the last time we ordered delivery it took well over an hour for the order to arrive, and we live about 10 mins from there. Stopped by with my BFF after long day at work. I've been in the area forever but have never been until she mentioned it. I ordered takoyaki, chashu volcano ramen, and she got seafood udon. It didn't take long for the order to arrive. The takoyaki had two pieces of octopus in it. I was not a fan of the lettuce underneath. It gave that horrible smell of warm lettuce transferred onto the otherwise okay tasting takoyaki. The ramen was not authentic but still delicious. I wish they added bean sprouts instead of raw snow cabbage. The eggs were well seasoned but overcooked. It still tasted good and I gobbled everything up. My friend liked her noodles but it was not spicy enough and had too many shrimp in it. The owner came out with extra spices to adjust the flavor, which I thought was nice. I am intrigued by the sushi burrito that was on the menu. Many people walked in just to order them in-person. Hilarious part is I saw zero Asians eating in there except for one table. Most people seemed to have preferred doing takeaway orders. CCACC employees get 10% off and bill is cheaper if paid in cash. I wouldn't mind visiting on days that Yoyogi is closed. Great service! They were very accommodating. We had a large group of 20+ people. They allowed us to make a reservation ahead of time and pre-order food without having to take a down payment. Anyone that knows me, knows I love sushi! So, starting out a new year, my son wanted to try a new sushi restaurant. I hadn't been to Love Sushi in five years, so I was game. I even ordered a new roll, to be a little adventurous. In all honesty, I would probably give Love Sushi three and a half stars. IIt was good, but there was something missing. My California rolls had too much mayonnaise in them. You couldn't really taste the ingredients and there was no masago (fish eggs) on top. My new roll, the shrimp and avocado, was good. But, the shrimp had no taste. I thought they had messed up and given me, crab stick instead. But, after opening one up, I could see the shrimp. But, it had no taste or flavor. The miso soup was okay. It just lacked the depth and flavor of my favorite restaurant. I also ordered the shrimp tempura roll. It was good, but not great. I wish I could put a finger on what was missing, but the closest I can figure is there was a lack of seasoning and the fish was not as fresh, maybe it had been frozen and defrosted? My daughter in law ordered the sashimi and it looked good, but again, lacked that fresh flavor. I am glad we tried something new, but I am headed back to my favorite sushi restaurant. read more

We had ordered crab cheese wonton, a dancing maki, and a sushi burrito. There was another roll with spicy tuna and avocado inside and topped with salmon, but I can't remember what it was called. I have to admit, it was a bit odd to have a roll topped off with bits of cream cheese but it surprisingly worked out really well. The other roll was the perfect combo of tuna and salmon for me, so I need to figure it out what it is called to get more of it. While the sushi burrito was filled with shrimp tempura, ebi shrimp, imitation crab, cucumbers, carrots, and mango sauce. I felt like the ratio of rice to filling was on point and the entire burrito was really tasty because the mango sauce gave it a pop of extra flavor. In all, the food was filling and delicious. The restaurant also gave us two generous portions of rice and 1 edamame on the house. The pieces were pretty large and the wasabi was not too spicy! I thought the price was too good for the currently inflated market. I thought the taste of the different fish (I believe there were 6/7 pieces of the following: salmon, tuna, white tuna, octopus, ebi, and one other whiteish-reddish dish that I cannot recognize) were delicious. What can I say, my family and I love this place! We celebrated my Uncle's 70th birthday here and threw a surprise party for him Saturday night. We truly love giving back to small establishments that we recognize as worthy of that recognition and Love Sushi is one of those places. When it comes to service, there's no doubt that the employees here are incredibly attentive and quick-paced. You're always immediately seated, given your beverages and they take your order as soon as you're ready. My family and I had a mixture of water, green tea and beers going around. We had miso soups, salmon heads, edamame and fried bananas that I believed were all or at least mostly complimentary from the chef. Like my last review, flavor and quality were still very consistent from the last time I had these dishes. There were so many dishes ordered that night, I honestly don't know if I can name them all. I enjoyed the 42 piece platter, Flying fish roe nigiri (2 piece) and the Double Salmon Maki the most. My least favorite dish would be the Takoyaki (out of personal preference as it felt a bit heavy for me.) Great quality fish and food at a reasonable price. Love Sushi is conveniently located a bit further off of Rockville Pike so literally it's at the boarder between Rockville and Gaithersburg. There's a parking lot that's really convenient for customers as well.
