Literally the only boba place in Rockville opened past 10 PM on a week day. My sister and I decided to swing by last night after dinner in DC because mainly she wanted something sweet. I opted for the taro milk tea (0% sugar) with white pearls. The pearls itself were sweet enough so you truly don't need to add any unnecessary sugar, it'll be too much. It's a self-serve location where you order on a device . They made our drinks pretty quickly. Not the best boba I've had in the area but I can't complain cause it wasn't bad either. I got the honey aloe green tea and the tea itself and aloe were great, just the tapioca could be better. My husband liked the tapioca this way though, so if you like firmer boba this might be your place! Mango green tea comes with mango topping as well and was tasty. I was craving some boba and this spot was one of the spots that opened late. The menu offered a good variety like milk teas, fruity teas, fruit smoothies, and even acai bowls. He said it was pretty good but he would not get it again. Noticed there was a touch screen kiosk to order on which I did like because I always feel rushed looking at their menu and having the cashier keep asking me if I'm ready. Additionally, there were things on the kiosk menu not on the board so that was helpful. It was quite busy tonight so it did take super long to get our order. We also noticed that someone that ordered in person after us ordering on the kiosk got their açaí bowls before us so that was a bit frustrating. We were visiting family and wanted to take the girls (7 & 10) to a spot to get some Boba drinks. One of the challenges when we travel is finding a spot that will make the girls the flavored drinks without the tea like our spots back home. The folks at TBaar were able to do it. So for the girls we got the Taro Milk drink and Honeydew Milk drink (both with Boba). And for my wife and we got the Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea. The girls loved their drinks. My wife and I liked ours but next time we would have gone without the Brown Sugar and little less sweet. The shop was nice and the folks that served us were courteous and friendly. But the only issue was the price. $8+ for a Boba drink?!?! I thought things were expensive in Northern California but I had never paid $8+ for a Boba drink before. The music here was really loud so it's hard to have a conversation here (definitely would have to shout a bit to one another). MILK - 6.25 If you want any toppings, it's +0.80 extra, so be prepared to pay over $7 (close to $8 including tax) for a single drink. The only thing I liked about this drink was that the tea flavor was fragrant and not overpowering. However, there wasn't much or any milk flavor which was the biggest disappointment. The 25% sugar level was a good amount of sweetness for me, but I probably would have preferred a bit sweeter drink this time around to compensate the lack of milk flavor. The boba were small and chewy, but the taste was just mediocre. It didn't add much to my drink. My friend got the TBAAR MILK GREEN TEA and he also thought it was a flop. Such a cute little place that serves various bubble teas, smoothies, soft serve and onigiri! They have a good selection of items without it being to overwhelming! They also provide a decent selection of onigri! We got the shrimp tempura, spicy fried chicken and beef brisket. My favorite was the fried chicken although I thought all of them could have used more filling. The first bite was entirely just rice and nori. The cost for the onigiri and soft serve were reasonable considering their wasn't an extra cost for toppings but the cheese foam smoothie we got was $9 which is incredibly more expensive than what I'm used to paying in Baltimore, and even New York. The cost is where I would have to ding them some stars as there are other places that you can get the same for less $$. We also got swirl of vanilla and Nutella soft serve which was pretty good, rich and creamy and not overly sweet for Nutella. Plenty of parking outside as it sits inside a strip of stores. This location is kind of tucked away. It is in the same plaza as the KPot. This is one of the few places in MoCo that you can still get a decent sized bubble tea at around $4. See pics for the current menu prices. They do also serve fresh smoothies...but my gosh the prices are ridiculous (around $9). So come here for their bubble tea. We got the Tbaar green milk tea with boba or herbal/grass jelly when we came. The taste of the milk tea was good. Boba was alright, not too soft not too firm. Overall a good boba tea. You can adjust the sugar level and ice amount. Their smaller size is actually a decent size. The cashier was friendly and doubled checked our order before payment. I do like how the decorated the place (see pics). They also have a few games if you wanted to hang out there with friends. There it is not a great hang out spot since there is only like 3 small tables. Parking situation is a parking lot that is shared with nearby establishments. 4 stars for the outrageous prices for the smoothies. read more

Taro smoothie 5/5 - One of the best taros I've had at a bubble tea store. It didn't taste super artificial and taro flavor wasn't overwhelming. I would recommend half sugar because even with it, it was still perfectly sweetened (on sweeter side). The smoothie is blended nicely. Brown sugar matcha 5/5 - Got 50% sugar but still a little sweeter than expected. The matcha taste itself was delicious and didn't have a grainy matcha feeling. The boba pearls were a little hard and under cooked. They were not as squishy as expected but that may have just been a bad batch. Came when it wasn't busy but employees were nice and service was fast Generally clean but the couches are pretty dirty and have stains. After work one day I decided to look up bubble tea spots near me since I was having a serious craving. Luckily this one was the closest because it's been one of my favorite bubble tea spots so far. First thing I look at is the parking which there was a lot right outside (amazing). Next, I walked in and even though the store itself is kind of small I loved the aesthetics and bright colors. I immediately knew I wanted to try the mango milk tea and I was pleasantly surprised! It tasted like mango yogurt and I loved the fresh pieces of mango that they put in here. Really wanted bubble tea and this was the only place that was open until late. I must say, they had good bubble tea. My only feedback would be that the boba texture was way to soft to where it literally dissolved in your mouth. (Not that its a bad thing, but would've like it if it were a little bit chewier) besides the boba, the drink itself was delish. I also had the Shrimp Tempura Onigiri for the first time and it was SOOO GOOD!! These last few months, Tbaar has become my favorite local boba shop. I've been frequenting here and Gongcha lately and I honestly love the innovation of the drinks here. The brown sugar bubble milk dalgona is my favorite that I've tried, but I can't wait to try the brown sugar matcha, the brown sugar milk cloud, and the mangolada. The COVID pick up procedures here are on point. Between the amazing smoothie/milk teas and the no contact quick pick up at a table blocking the door from entry, I can't seem to stay away from this amazing bubble tea shop! I've stopped in every weekend for the the last three weeks to try different smoothies. I've loved each of the fruit smoothies I've tried and today's red bean smoothie with tapioca is perfection. I'd never thought of drinking red bean until I saw it on the menu here! My hubby is partial to the brown sugar milk teas and they're also very tasty. Ordering on yelp is easy, though I will add that it consistently says the drinks will take 15-35 minutes and mine seem to only take about 10 minutes, even in busy times. Once it's ready, a bag with your drink and straws is placed on the table by the door. If there's a crowd, they'll open the door and call the orders out.
