I didn't even know this tea shop was here, really blends into the rest of the shopping center and being on a lower floor doesn't help. But god damn the tea flavor is really good! Gotten the earl grey and black milk teas before, both were brewed the perfect amount without any astringency, which is really hard for me to find honestly. It beats a lot of the major chains, so major props. They also got token prizes (forgot if capsule or crane game) and some overpriced plushies for sale, but the whole joint is pretty cozy. I got the black classic milk tea, in hopes that it would taste like Kung fu's milk tea. My expectations were met! Bubbles&Tea taste more tea than the milky compared to KFU, which I found really refreshing. Next time, I would love to try something from their top 10 that's more adventurous like tiramisu milk, mango milk tea, or their 3Q milk tea (bubble, pudding, grass jelly). Our favorite bubble tea place in the area! It's a hidden gem, next to A&J on the lower level of the Woodmont Station shopping plaza... We love this place because it is super friendly and we're always greeted warmly...the bubble tea is consistently pretty great (we are here at least 3 or 4 times a week), and you can adjust the sugar level (for most of the drinks). My favorites are the regular black milk tea with bubbles, the warm ginger milk tea, and the winter melon bubble tea. They also have special desserts difficult to find anywhere--my favorites are the grass jelly with taro balls and tofu pudding with red bean. Highly recommended! read more

Although not on the menu, the girl behind the counter was accommodating to my request for a red bean slushie. The place is on the smaller side with just a couple of tables. So Bubbles&Tea is located off the Pike, but very easy to overlook, as it's kind of tucked away in a corner. It's next door to A&J, so I'll usually stop in for a drink after having stuffed my belly with food, but it's easy to forget about it otherwise. I've been to B&T a number of times, and have tried most of the slush/smoothies and standard milk teas, all are good! The juices they use are from Taiwan so it's probably a lot more authentic than some of the other bubble tea shops in the area. The other day, my sister made an Uber Eats order for multiple drinks, and I tried the Earl Grey Almond Milk Tea AND Hazelnut Milk Tea for the first time! WHAT? HAZELNUT?! Where has this been my entire life?! Ok, so I've had Almond milk tea at other shops, and usually it's overly powdery, but not this one! And the Hazelnut... omg so good. Even with 75% sugar, it was plenty sweet to cure my craving for sweets. And the pudding.... So soft and a perfect amount of globby goodness to feel like I got some substance when literally slurping up the entire large drink in 3 minutes. Definitely a must try! I can't believe I haven't done a review for this spot... Maybe I am just trying to keep this a secret cause it's my go to spot for amazing bubble tea! We just moved from LA and if you know, LA has a pretty big Asian area where I can get really authentic good bubble tea drinks. Well, moving to Maryland is great and I heard that Rockville is a smaller version of the Asian area in LA... But after a few try in different stores, we found this!!! A store that has strong and flavorful black tea, yet not too sweet nor watered down! Boba is perfectly chewy and not too soft or too hard. We have been here so many times now I can't remember all the drinks I've tried from them... But my hubby only gets their classic black tea with boba and it is always made with perfect boba and perfect amount of sweetness. I am amazed how their staffs are so well trained that whoever made those drinks, it will always be the same! (If you like to go to local bubble tea shops, you know it's a struggle sometimes.) Service is always good and very polite staffs. We are in almost the end of covid19 (well, in my hopes and wishes), they still not allow people inside the store and order by the front door. They are definitely taking COVID seriously here! You are not let into the store so a staff meme we takes your order from the register and you can see the order on screen by the entrance. Unfortunately, they do not have Apple Pay, but they spray your card before handing it back to you. I ordered the split cup taro with bubbles, 75% sweetness and the passion fruit green tea with lychee bursting bubbles, both on their popular menu. Keep in mind that with the split cup, you get the purple taro and not the brownish one so I didn't have real pieces of taro in it. The taro is a bit on the creamier side, which I liked. I enjoyed both drinks, not too sweet and the bubbles were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back to try other flavors! read more

I am a huge fan of Taro, and the fact that they use real Taro in their Taro Milk was what made me want to try this place! Typically most establishments will use the taro powder but here you get the real thing. Because of this, you will then see the color of the drink is much lighter. Keep in mind that you will feel the texture of mini-chunks of the taro in there, but for me I did not mind that at all. The drink had a great taste and the boba I had was fine. Also, they do have an extensive menu of different tea and boba options, but since I do not live in the area and cannot come here often, I am always just tempted to get the Taro Milk! Really good COVID precautions here! You are only allowed in the entrance to order and then you wait outside where they'll wave you down when your drink is ready. Service was also very fast, my drink came out right away. I ordered the real taro milk tea which was yummy and not too sweet. You could tell there was blended taro in there instead of flavoring. Mmmm... love a good taro bubble tea and when they hyped theirs as the "real" taro, I couldn't help myself. And, it did not disappoint as it definitely had more of the taro taste that others don't always have (as other places uses powdered taro flavoring). So, if you like the purple root crop, they have a good taro milk tea here. We also got the mango slush (you can't go too wrong with mango slush!) and a bowl of shaved ice with condensed milk and for our 3 toppings, we chose grass jelly, lychee jelly, and mango. The shaved ice could be just a little more sweeter or maybe we need to dig deeper to the bottom where all the milk may have pooled. Otherwise, it was a great find as we were next door at A & J for lunch and decided to get sweet treats here, instead of driving down for another spot. My only complaint is that the drinks are already on the expensive side, and I still had to pay for the bubble for my milk tea drink. This place is one of my favorites compared to the other bubble tea places around the area. The taste of the tea was very distinct and not too sweet (though I did order my tea to be 30% sweet). BUT there was just something different about this place. One thing that is cool about this place is they offer a "split sharing cup". With this order, you can order two drinks (only selective ones) in one cup. (Sounds crazy? Check out the photo attached). I got the Black Milk Tea and the Wintermelon Tea. This Bubble tea place is serious. When I went in at like 8:45pm on a Wednesday there was like 13 people working... I was like... whoh. There like a bubble tea convention up the street or something? The menu calls "Black Milk Tea" = "Black Tea Latte." I had to make sure I was getting my tried and true, so I just made sure that it was the same thing. The cashier commented that it was the same thing and that they also use real milk in their drinks. So yeah, I ordered my Large Black Tea Latte (Cold) with boba. Let me tell you, if you like a boatload of boba in your drink. You're gonna LOVE this place. I mean, fo real fo real. There was an aggressive amount of boba. I might have to ask them to tone it down just A LITTLE bit next time. But here's where we get the 5 stars. The black tea latte tasted freakin' delicious. I got it 75% sugar ( you can adjust which is nice), and it was just... it was just really good. The tea had depth. There were layers. I know... I'm describing it like a Beef Wellington...but when you've had enough bubble tea. You know. This place's tea is really something special. Also, I was watching one of the workers make it, and there was like maybe a 1/4 inch at the top from it being completely full. She took more tea from the top dispenser and topped that B off. You couldn't fit any more tea in that B. Trust. Like it had that like water surface tension thing. Ya know how you can like fit a bunch of drops of water on the head of a penny cause of the surface tension. It was full as full can be. Regular price for tea. I think I paid 5 bucks or so. They don't have a credit card minimum. Which is really nice. I can't tell you how many times I go into Kung Fu Tea, forget about the 8 dollar minimum and then buy like 3 mini egg tarts cause I have to make the minimum. It's kind of annoying tbh. I love me some Kung Fu Tea, don't get me wrong. But... have a credit card minimum that is like the price of 1 drink. Not two... It's like the HOV lane of bubble tea places. Great addition to the plaza, and it shares the same "main" door with A&J, where the left is Bubbles&Tea and the right is A&J. Very cute interior, set-up, logo, etc. There's a bench by the wall with a sign of their logo and if they modify that "blank"-ish space, I could see it be a popular place to take pictures. The drinks are average price, for both regular and large, around the areas, but toppings are a bit more expensive compared to other places around the area. You can add bubbles for 50 cents, but aloe, honey, etc are an extra 75 cents. When I got in, I first saw the opaque cups and I thought all drinks, hot or cold, will go in those opaque cups like Jin in Pasadena, CA, but it turns out they were for hot drinks and the clear are for the cold drinks. Still good, just cups, ha. There's both an English menu and a Chinese menu. Interesting items, with specials being a rose drink, a real taro milk tea, and tiramisu milk tea. I tried the peach oolong tea with aloe and 50% sugar and the honeydew milk tea with bubbles. The honeydew milk tea tasted pretty normal compared to other artificial honeydew, sweeter than bubble tea cafe, melon-candy like. The peach oolong was good with the aloe, but I could have used a bit more flavor. I'd definitely come back to try some more drinks; great customizations (ice, sugar levels) and some unique flavored drinks on the menu. The place is clean--it's fairly small, but there are a few tables and small couches to sit down and hang out. I was disappointed that they didn't have lychee jelly--maybe they will have it in the future??? I hope so! I tried the passion fruit green tea with aloe jelly--it was great! I always appreciate places that let you pick the level (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, or 0%, depending) of sugar or ice that you want with your drink (Bubbles&Tea does)--I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I always like mine with less sugar than the normal order.
