staff is so sweeet, 100/10 flavor and so many options. amazing games aswell!!! love the style of this place aswell so inviting!!

I was so excited to come back here after attending the Yelp Elite event two weeks ago. I spent an hour or so at the taste of Wheaton today and I was planning to get an Elio gelato bar. However, they were $8.50 and I remembered that Sweet Bamboo Boba drinks were also $8.50. Guess what I decided on?! That's right! Boba always wins. This place is just over a mile from my place and guess what? There was plenty of parking directly in front of the place. Better yet it is free on Sundays! Win-win for me. So I had to forgo my usual taro tea and create my DIY concoction starting with strawberry boba, yum! I added the Japanese Hokkaido milk tea (which I sampled at the Yelp Event) and added two pumps of brown sugar. Then I put my tea in the self- sealing machine and voila. My drink was ready with the stab of a straw. I have to admit I like my taro tea better, but I think I would enjoy this one more without the brown sugar added. The young man helping me with suggestions was a bit reserved (I thought he might be the owner's son), but I mostly knew what I was doing. Next time I'm going to return to my taro tea, or maybe I'll try something different. It is almost summer after all. read more

Great idea to be able to customize your own boba with whatever creation you can think of! Unlimited toppings, helpful staff that explain everything, and inviting atmosphere with free arcade games and one of those boxing trainers! If they had a better location I bet theyd be a much bigger hit! Highly recommended and I hope they do well so they can further expand! read more

Cool little hangout spot in downtown SS. It's a fun idea to make your own drink but comes with some flaws such as many items are "ask staff for it" (even boba! The most popular item) so it's not as freely customize style and still require help. Understandable that the machine might not get the sticky boba out easily for this decision, but I think it'll be great to have it resolved for a better customer experience. The drink is good but also down side - you have no idea how sweet the base tea is! I didn't know Hokkaido milk tea is sweetened but oolong is not, so my Hokkaido milk tea came out way too sweet with syrup in; and the oolong milk tea is perfect sweetness. I hope more descriptions and details are visible near. Staff was friendly and attentive. Very nice vibe and great for hangout with friends and family. read more

This comes from someone who loves the seveen location. There's lots to improve here. I've been to the silver spring location a few times since opening. At 3pm on a Sunday there were about 12-15 customers in the store but one employee. When we walked in, there was not an employee in sight because they were getting the tapioca pearls for a customer. Which leads to the next issue. Why is the most requested topping only available to be completed by an employee? Tapioca pearls really need to be diy like the other location or have a dedicated employee with a tapioca container at the counter. Having them go back and forth is highly inefficient. For efficiency, let's have people pay when they get their cups like at the other location. People were filling up, then waiting in line to pay. Essentially creating 3 problems: people were in line waiting for cups, waiting in line to pay, which in turn were blocking other customers from getting the toppings. How was 1 employee handling giving directions on the process, refilling the toppings, giving out cups, checking out people, cleaning up messes, and giving requested toppings to customers? Just how? They were amazing but its not sustainable. We were stressed for them after visiting today. read more

Sweet Bamboo just opened up their second location in Silver Spring! If you ever wanted to create-your-own-boba with your own flavors and toppings, this is the place to do it! If you're a bit hesitant, you can order off their menu as well! They also have macarons, pot bing soo (Korean shaved ice), and other various snacks, such as onigiris and musubis. To say that I was excited for this new Boba place to open up in Silver Spring is an understatement. I went to their first location in Severna Park and it was amazing to be able to make my own Boba drink. I love that this new place also has other options that are decaf for an afternoon treats as well as egg bubble waffle with ice cream or shaved ice dessert, perfect for the coming summer. This location took over the location that used to house Moorenko's ice cream shop for many years. and now can go in and hang out. There's a nice seating area with a bunch of arcade games to keep you entertained. This place is right by my community garden center, so it'll be a nice stop in for a sweet treat before heading home. This was a bit out of my way to get here but boy, am I glad I went! This is a 'make your own adventure' boba spot in SS. The staff were so very helpful and the owner followed up with us to ask how our drinks were. Things that helped make this visit great! -the boba is TOP NOTCH. It's the perfect al dente level of chewy. It's pleasant to sip your drink with nice little pops of perfectly chewy boba. The owner stated they make multiple batches daily and it shows! They also have jellies if you're not a boba person. - being able to customize the sweetness was an important thing for me and I appreciated the staff offering to let me sample teas to help make up my mind. They have a really nice selection whether you are more of a fruit or milk tea person. I like my drinks not as sweet and was able to find a healthy medium. If you are someone who wants multiple flavors, they can deliver on this for sure. - parking!!! So while there is street parking, there is also a parking deck a very short stroll away which made this a very nice plus. If you are on georgia and the store is coming up on the right, make a sharp right on to Blair Mill Rd and that will lead you to the parking deck in about 5 secs. read more
