There were so many choices. But, sad news, there is no more golden boba. Wahh! I loved their golden boba. : ( But, I do have to say their brown sugar boba is very good. Service was excellent. I was waited on right away and my drink was ready in a few minutes. The cafe keeps adding to their ambiance. New TV's, comfortable seating, and a foos ball table for those who want to play. Rating may go up in future if I try other things; this rating is just for the yogurt "coco mango" drink I got yesterday, so I remember that I already tried it and it wasn't one I'd get again. I don't know if they don't have a strong enough blender or if it just wasn't blended long enough but my drink came out super icy. The balance was also off. A good yogurt drink is a religious experience, and though I could tell this used fresh ingredients, it just didn't come out 'right'. IYKYK. There used to be this place in College Park that had a GOAT mango yogurt drink but sadly they mowed down the whole plaza and I don't think the shop found another location. I'm in mourning. Ding Cafe has a lot of other stuff on the menu and apparently artisanal ice cream, which had I been hungrier I might have tried. Unfortunately, it shares a plaza with Mia Cane which has really really good Vietnamese Ice Coffee, so if I come back earlier in the day when caffeine isn't verbotten...it's going to be hard to convince myself to try Ding again since it's easier to find good boba tea around here than good Cafe Sua De (sp). I'll likely come back to try the ice cream and / or other caffeine free drink options though and hopefully I find one that works better for me. read more

After a spicy dumpling lunch, my wife and I craved a quick, cooling bubble tea dessert. We found that Ding Cafe had an appealing menu with solid reviews, and so checked it out. My wife ordered a taro milk tea with a cheese foam cap and I went with a Vietnamese iced coffee with an ube cream topping. Both of our drinks were well prepared and had a ton of flavor. My wife liked that you can choose what kind of tea (black, green, or Oolong) for the taro drink, and we both found the cheese foam to be perfectly creamy and savory. Similarly, my strong iced coffee was prepared according to my taste with 0% sugar, and the cream topping had a discernible ube flavor without excessive sweetness. We both opted for grass jelly mixed into our potables and appreciated the soft, slurpable texture which indicated freshness. Our drinks averaged around $8 per, which is pretty standard. The interior of Ding was clean and bright, certainly pleasant enough in which to pass some time. We are glad we tried this place and can easily foresee returning when in the area. read more

Popped in after yoga. It was about 9:40 a.m. and the boba, unfortunately, wasn't ready yet. I ordered Jasmine green tea milk tea. Needed a little extra sugar but was bomb! When you're in Rockville and close-by - this place is solid. I tried their winter melon with grass jelly. I liked how they kept it true to the sweetness level and the grass jelly tasted very good. The place is cute & nicely decorated, looks almost brand new although it had been around for a while. I had the passion fruit tea with 30% sugar, it was subtle and fruity. LOVE IT!!! My daughter had the ice coffee which was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. They have a huge selections of bubble teas & slushies , iced or hot coffee. I just wished they have salty snacks or appetizers options to go with the yummy drinks. This place is like a little gem in a quiet, not overly congested plaza. Parking is easy to find. The Café is in between a very good Thai restaurant & a newly opened L&L Hawaiian BBQ place. Also, a popular Taiwanese Bakery (named Japong) is only a few steps away. Ordered a black milk tea with black boba, zero percent sugar, and a hot taro milk tea, regular sugar. I was not a fan of the black milk tea. I always get my drinks at 0% sugar because I prefer the tea flavor and the actual tea didn't taste great-- pretty bland, kind of watery, but drinkable. The hot taro tea was very delicious. Store looks fine. On our second visit there was a strange smell-- kind of like pee...it made the store feel unclean. AI art is used for some of the food photos. Not only does AI suck, but it doesn't provide an accurate representation of the food. There's a foosball table which is super fun. Service is okay but I think the servers need to be trained more on offerings. They seemed confused on what drinks could be offered hot or not. The lids on the hot cups do not fit very well and can cause spilling. Overall, I'd come back only for the hot taro milk tea. read more

I love a good bubble tea and ding still exceeds expectations in delicious teas. Today I tried the signature milk tea slush with slight sugar, black boba and egg pudding. It's so tasty! Located in a plaza on the more quiet part of Rockville Pike, I've been here several times since their opening. The service is pretty standard, never a wait when I've been, so I get my orders pretty quickly. Large variety of drinks, not just tea. With so many bubble tea options around, I usually only stop by if I'm close by already and usually after a meal, so I get their Medium size cause I'm full and their cups with the rounded bottom are pretty unique. But I keep forgetting how much ice comes standard - you can see from the Matcha one, it's half the cup and when you add boba, you're really not getting much tea at all - I guess always order the Large and you'll really be getting a Regular! Yes as many reviews said, the standard sugar level is on the sweeter side but that's why you can ask them to adjust. I am a regular for this spot. Always order brown sugar milk tea or regular milk tea, but sometimes out of the blue will get their fruit tea or slushy. I like this spot and it's pretty standard and greatly maintained with good quality control. Overall all drinks are in good consistency, always the same taste and always good quality sweet boba. Nothing too surprising or too bland. I won't say it is the best, but to have consistency is quite hard to find around here, so we appreciate that they keep their standard and doesn't change even with different staffs. Only down side is that quite a few times we get there around 4pm/5pm and they already sold out of boba, and offered crystal boba that is totally a different thing. I wish they have more prepared each day and never run into this issue... So if that happens we either take it or go somewhere else since there are many other shops around. It's a good spot if you are craving boba milk tea that is not a guess if it would be good or bad each time, and that it's not too milky or too strong. read more

This place and Teazzi are my two favorite bubble or boba tea places in the DC area. At Ding Tea I'm a huge fan of the aloe vera teas. I have had a couple of different flavors and they are all really good. I add boba to the chunks of aloe vera that's already a part of the drink. I have ordered the Monster Boba Latte for a couple of people and they were very impressed. The milk teas have been a hit too; get the wintermelon milk tea and the taro milk tea. Their offerings are pretty extensive, yet did not have any red bean offerings (my hubby's usual). So, he decided on a strawberry Yakut slushy with herbal jelly. It was good, but it was not a slushy (all liquid) and had very little herbal jelly. I was happy they offered lychee, so I ordered a lychee slushy with regular boba. The menu is fairly standard, but they do have some specials. They also have both brown sugar and honey boba. We hadn't seen the honey boba before-- it was tasty. Ok, so, the drinks themselves were fine. Better than other spots in the area because the ingredients tasted fresh. However, they lost two stars on service. There was no one in line behind us, but the cashier was doing everything he could to get us out of the store as quickly as possible. I had a couple of questions that he didn't bother answering, and honestly, it was really off-putting. I get if they're busy, but they weren't. I'm not sure if we'll be back. They have the best hot ginger milk tea here, made with real slices of ginger...the perfect remedy when you're feeling under the weather. You can adjust the sugar level and also ask they leave out the pieces of ginger, which usually settle at the bottom of the cup. A drawback is that they no longer will add toppings like bubbles to their hot drinks. The bamboo straws are cool... Counter service is efficient and quick (they did make one mistake in a recent order, so make sure to confirm your choices, especially since there can be confusion between the milk teas and regular teas). First time at Ding Tea this weekend. My kid wanted milk tea and it's next door to the Thai place I was ordering lunch from! So, easy decision to go! Their COVID precautions are masks are required. They had a table at the entrance with the menu as well as a giant container of hand sanitizer. I got the Signature Milk Tea with 1/3 sweetness and 1/2 ice. Kid got the Hokkaido Black Milk Tea with 1/2 sweetness and 1/2 ice. Both were pretty good. Kid drank hers really quick though. Glad I got the less sweet option. Can't imagine it at 100% sweetness level. Would definitely be too much for my taste. It's great that they offer choices - but most of the other bubble tea places in the area do as well.
