Pretty good balance of tea to milk ratio and reminds me of molly tea. 4/5 Jasmine Milk Tea - honestly pretty good too. feels like a molly tea knock off with the menu offerings, cup designs and even flavor profile. its slightly too sharp but still good. 3.75/5 Da Hong Pao Milk Tea - the tea flavor is there but it doesn't mix as well as the magnolia or jasmine. I went to Teamania for the first time and I am quite disappointed. I've heard good things, yet it does not live up to the expectations. When I first walked in, the aesthetic of the place was great. It was quite big with a nice corner to relax in and a display of snacks. The staff was also very friendly and respectful while I was looking at the menu. However, the food and drinks are where this becomes a 2 or 3-star experience. The Items I Ordered: * Brown Sugar Cookie Boba Tea: This was bland and had little to no flavor. The milk was overpowering, and it had almost no brown sugar or cookie taste. * Soufflé Pancakes: I was told these were "authentic Japanese Pancakes," but I am heavily disappointed. The presentation was poor: a paper plate with pancakes surrounded by fruits, a dab of ice cream, and a small plastic bowl of cream. The pancakes themselves were bland and very eggy. Unfortunately, they tasted more like an egg pancake than the traditional Japanese style. They were also very dry. If the cream wasn't included, I wouldn't have even eaten them. Having to rely on the cream just for the pancakes to have flavor or moisture is very disappointing. * Chocolate Lava Buns: I bought one of these, and it was just okay. They were fluffy, but the chocolate inside wasn't melted. It was also very bitter and very heavy on the dark chocolate side so it was not a "savory taste" for what I had thought originally. * Cherry Tart: This was the final item I bought, and again, it was only okay. The bun was a bit hard. While the flavor was better than I expected at first, it fell off quite quickly and became unappetizing. Final Verdict: Would I recommend this place? Not necessarily. Teamania, an Asian bakery & cafe in Rockville, MD is a haven for hipsters, coffee & tea drinkers and those who like to indulge is both sweet and savory baked goods. The warm industrial interior offers a good amount of seating at tables, booths and plush chairs. When you enter the cafe, you are immediately greeted by cases of baked goods. As you move forward, you can order a drink. I visited on a busy Saturday, unfortunately. The cases of baked goods had not been replenished, the water container was empty and the napkin dispenser was bare. At one point, the staff making the drinks just stopped calling out customers' names, so you basically had to either stand at the pick up area or watch it from your seat in the dining area. My matcha latte was okay, but my husband's strawberry peach lime iced tea was delicious! It also came in a reusable cup, which is a plus. I had a glazed cronut (a croissant/donut mashup) that was good, but the amount of grease that soaked into the paper plate and napkins turned my stomach and made me not want to ever eat another. I would suggest visiting on a weekday, if possible, because weekends are just too busy and the staff are pulled in too many directions. read more

I needed a place to do some work until my hotel opened before a conference. Teamania was conveniently located so I spent a whole afternoon there. The desserts were delicious and beautiful. I was there long enough to have two different drinks. The lighting, music, and overall ambiance was perfect for work. It was quiet enough for focused work, but comfy and energizing. I was visiting the area the night before and found this cafe while searching for lunch breakfast locations. I saw the souffle pancakes and immediately wanted to try them. The cafe was very cute, clean and spacious. I went to counter to order the pancakes since they took about 25 minutes to make. While I waited, I observed the pastries on display and they all looked delicious. I also ordered a brown sugar boba milk tea and it was very refreshing. Since I ordered the pancakes to-go, the cashier bought my order to me when it was ready. Since the order included ice cream, I wanted to remove it from the pancakes once I got to the car. Upon looking at the pancakes, I noticed they were burnt (not pictured). I took the order back inside and the cashier apologized. We went here to try the tarts and we were a big fan! The Hong Kong one, Portuguese, & coconut ones were all lovely! The first one was eggy, while the second one was custardy, and the last one had an amazing texture & toasted coconut taste. Not sure what HookTea is, but the flavors were pretty unique - I got the White Magnolia Milk Tea, but there was also a Gardenia Milk Tea, Peach Milk Tea, Apple Milk Tea, Da Hong Pao (which I was told was like an oolong). Also got a couple pastries to try. White Magnolia Milk Tea: Got this at 50%, wish they allowed ice adjustment. The tea was definitely sweet enough, and very floral tasting. Matcha Red Bean Bun: Didn't like the cream cheese filling in this, didn't say it at cream cheese on the sign either. Didn't taste any matcha, but the bun itself was pretty fluffy (fluffier than it looked, anyway). Taro Crossaint: Not taro, and the taro filling wasn't super sweet. Wish they refilled the more popular pastries - I had my eyes on a pistachio cream donut for a while but it wasn't refilled during the 45 mins I sat there. Overall: I think Teamania is one of those places that you come to for the vibe and to take pictures. The interior is really nice and the food looks great, but wouldn't place it above other similar stores in terms of taste. Food: In my opinion the bread here was pretty normal. We stopped by for a drink and some baked goodies. The breads they sell are all so big and aesthetically beautiful. I got the Vietnamese coffee and really enjoyed it - strong coffee and perfect sweet taste. The price wasn't too bad either. My friend got a fruit cake slice and a pineapple bun. As an avid bread eater, she was happy with both. The service left a little to be desired. I really wanted a chance to visit this place after so many viral videos about the soufflé pancakes and other treats. The food, service and parking were great! The pancakes do take about 20-30 minutes to make and this is communicated when ordering. They are very eggy (the taste) so it's really a matter of personal palate/preference. We tried the sparkling mango tea, super refreshing and yummy! My family also tried other pastries both savory and sweet. Unfortunately there was also no boba for one or more of the teas we initially wanted. Service was great, everyone I spoke to was super friendly! Here's the issue for me: We had nowhere to sit. There were at least 4 family size tables being used by a single person using a laptop. I'm all for going to a cute cafe and working there! I'm glad there are places for people to do this. It would be nice if there were smaller/one person tables for these sort of patrons, or a time limit. I arrived with my family (5 of us total), nowhere to sit. EXCELLENT SPOT FOR TEA, PASTIES AND COFFEE! Teamania is on Rollins Ave, super close to the firehouse and post office. The various savory and sweet pastries are beautiful and on well-lit display. You choose your own pastries with a golden tong. I recommend going with a friend and sharing a wide array of various goodies. For drinks we tried: strawberry matcha, Vietnamese coffee, decaf vanilla latte. My favorite was the strawberry matcha. For food we tried: Portuguese egg tart, peach cloud donut, little bear pastry, cheese dog danish, pork steam bun, and Japanese soufflé combo 2 (matcha cream + pistachio ice cream). For food, my favorites were the cheese dog danish (perfect mix of savory and sweet, loved despite not being a hot dog person) and the peach cloud donut. Teamania is also a lovely space to work, with free parking, strong wifi, and lots of seating. Will be back soon! Honestly, such a mediocre experience. I am not quite sure what kind of bakery this is because it's a little Asian, but feels like it could be European? The coffee here was average at best and all of the pastries maybe because we went later in the day were on the dry side. Also, this place is called tea mania but all the teas come in bags like generic grocery store teas. There's not a pot in sight. That said it's a pretty cute space inside with Clock showing different time zones and comfortable seating. I was there on a Friday and there were lots of people working. UPDATE: The last few times I've been here it just hasn't been as good. The food options aren't as good and the drinks have just been okay. The tofu steam bun -- easily my favorite lunch item in the area -- really didn't work. It's still an interesting experience but I really can't recommend a place I now avoid. Although they had Wifi, I wouldn't call this a great place to come and study or get work done, although I saw people doing that. I've had the Vietnamese coffee twice, the first time was great, the second time was just okay. Food items are very unique, so much so I didn't like some of them but I still enjoyed the experience. Try something that sounds weird, it's half the fun of coming in here. CONS * Allergies - it wasn't clear what all everything was made with so if you're trying to avoid gluten or peanuts or eggs, I didn't see much on ingredients. I know for some people that's a red flag. * The tea. We just thought it was above average but not amazing. I mean its right in the name, come on. * Collecting items - you gotta look for the little trays and the salad tongs. That's what you use to grab stuff out of the cases. Great Asian (Korean) bakery in Rockville! I've noticed this place for a long time but never had the chance to stop by after shopping at Trader Joe's in Federal Plaza--until now. There's parking right next to the café, which made it easy to pop in. The space is charming, spacious, and relatively quiet even thoughts the place faces to a busy road. They offer a wide variety of baked goods, cakes, and drinks. We browsed around, picked up a light cheesecake, curry bread, chocolate cream bread, and ordered two drinks. Prices are fair, especially considering the location, the current economy, and the quality of the food. The light cheesecake was airy with a subtle sweetness although I personally would've liked a touch of citrus, like lemon, to brighten the flavor. The curry bread was a little oily but very satisfying. Both the matcha boba and sparkling drink were refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day. Staff were friendly and efficient. I came here to check out the giggly pancakes. I was not disappointed. They looked great and tasted great as well. One thing to note is that the different flavors are in the ice cream that come with the pancakes and not the actual pancakes. I wonder if you can just order the different ice cream instead of a whole set of pancakes. The server messed up our order serving us hot coffee instead of iced coffee as well as two vanilla pancakes vs one that was supposed to be strawberry (how we found out the pancakes were not different flavors, just the ice cream). Came here to try the Japanese pancakes. They were super light and fluffy and had ice cream on the side with some fruit as well as a cream to pour on top. It was a LOT of sugar. I probably should have gotten a coffee or chai with it but instead I got the ocean drink. The drink is surprisingly sour. You can choose your sugar level. I got regular because I usually don't like sweet drinks, but it could have used a little more sweet. We also got the duck meat sandwich which was yummy but difficult to eat. I think I'll try the pork belly next time. My husband got the coconut latte which didn't really taste like coconut at all it just tasted like a coffee latte. This is a preliminary review that will be updated as I try the several items that I purchased. This review is based primarily on togo experience, with some observations and concerns about business practices that 1. appeared to be designed to unnecessarily increase purchasing and consumption, both of their food as well as your own food supply (Above and beyond the intrinsic addictiveness of sugary products); 2. were less than transparent; 3. Involve their signature items, Starting with the soufflé pancakes. First, it's very bizarre that you can't order the pancakes online And just pick them up. Staff "didn't even know" (and didn't seem to care) that you couldn't order them online, said that it's because of the "timing" (even though you can specify when ordering online when you are coming), and that you can call ahead. It's also worth noting that there is no nutritional information posted for the pancakes, even though much of the shop seems to be labeled. Second, I asked for the ice cream to be separated from the pancakes. The server said they would be. However, they put the ice cream in another container directly on top of the hot pancakes. There was no plastic no container for the ice cream, which *unnecessarily* melted all over the place - incl all over the lovely fresh berries, Forcing me to eat all the berries ASAP (instead of saving them for future consumption). This screwed up my eating for the entire day (and subsequent days). I was full of healthy berries, but unable to eat substantive protein for lunch or dinner. The Matcha cream was too full in its container, Such that when you open the container, it's all over the place. The pancakes have a nice delicate taste, the berries were deliciously fresh. But both the ice cream and the Matcha cream were Way too sweet for my palate. Which is unfortunate because this is supposedly why I ordered the pancakes. If they care about "timing", they should know how to package their signature item so that it doesn't get ruined and require immediate consumption and screw up your entire day (and subsequent days). It seems that the ice cream was intentionally mispackaged so that the entire dish would be ruined, require immediate consumption, And throw off my entire day, night, and subsequent days. It was also *very* strange (if not shady!) that the staff could *not* say Which items are more sweet or less sweet, when there is clearly a range across the different items (eg even across different matcha items). You should not have to buy 10 different items to try to find what you might actually like (and make you want to return) when there are live human beings who are supposedly familiar with their own products. Also regarding packaging, the refrigerated cakes they put in little boxes, but everything else was just put in open plastic bags, such that the creams and frostings were not protected - leading to overly expeditious consumption. Also With the exception of cakes at the front, most items in the store are just out at room temperature - so you might not realize until getting home they need to be refrigerated because creamy, leading to faster than intended consumption because they take up so much refrigerator space, crowding out healthier foods. The donuts and bread (and teamania bag) are quite bulky, even though the chocolate bread is actually almost entirely air. The donuts are on the heavy side, both the breading and cream. The taro donut I would not have recognized as such if it had not been labeled, it was basically very sweet purple cream. The donuts were particularly addictive, but not in a good way, Leading to vicious cycles of overeating, overly rapid consumption, esp in middle of night, etc. I like sweets (otherwise why would I go to the bakery) but not overly sweet, in moderation, and paired with healthier foods. Finally I'm eating other items a few teaspoons a day (paired with fresh fruit and Greek yogurt). Ideally one shouldn't rapidly and unnecessarily consume thousands of calories, increase one's risk for heart attack, increase one's malnutrition, etc. just for pancakes That should've been pre-ordered, that shouldn't have been intentionally ruined, Shouldn't have lead to days of disordered eating, etc. Having taken the time to write all of this, I would appreciate the owners response, including proactive steps to work with (and not against) Healthy eaters who enjoy sweets, but in a moderate and sensible fashion. My friend and I stopped by this past Saturday afternoon before our dinner plans nearby! Teamania is pretty cute with lots of good milk tea/coffee/regular tea options along with a selection of Chinese inspired pastries. You have the classics like pineapple bun and egg tarts, but there's also a lot of cream based buns that have a more modern twist. EGG TART - 2.75 I got both Portuguese egg tart and HK style egg tart, so I'll do a comparison. The Portuguese egg tart had that nice and crispy sugar crust on top of the buttery soft and silky custard. The custard was perfectly creamy and sweet, with a slight edge of savory from the butter (probably). The HK egg tart paled in comparison. While both egg tart crusts were on the stale/soggy side (probably because I was eating this hours after it was freshly baked), the custard of the HK egg tart wasn't as good. Overall, I definitely preferred the Portuguese egg tart! ORIGINAL MILK TEA (CHILLED) I forgot the price of this but it was around $5. The milk tea was good and you can customize the sugar level here. I asked for less sugar. Upon first sip, I found that it was much too sweet. However, I realized there was a layer of syrup on the bottom and they didn't mix it well. I would recommend giving it a thorough shake before popping a straw through the seal. It was an enjoyable drink that went well with my desserts, haha. My friend got the strawberry peach tea slush, which tasted like a fruity and carbonated soda. I enjoyed the couple sips she let me have and we would recommend. The space inside has several tables meant for 2 along with a high top table that's large enough to fit 8 people or so. Blair and Dan were working the front and were so nice, had awesome personalities, and so fun to talk with. We felt very welcome & comfortable at this cafe because of them! I'm looking forward to coming back all the way from VA, to try other goods and maybe their soufflé pancakes! I've only tried Tea Mania through Too Good To Go, but had a great experience. Super helpful with my TGTG order when picking up. The pastries were super fresh and delicious. Would definitely like to try more from them soon. read more

Teamania was my go to lunch/tea time spot. They have an amazing selection of fresh baked breads and pastries, as well as coffees, teas, and boba. The service is quick and efficient, and the atmosphere is very modern and minimalist. I was excited to see the addition of the lunch specials. They are perfectly portioned and filling. At the counter they also offer a variety of cakes, as well as fluffy pancakes made to order. It's a perfect spot for a coffee date, a place to set up and work, or to even catch up with friends. This is a great Cafe with baked goods. I got a fruit pastry and it was tasty. One place for improvement is how the cashiers pack the baked goods. They used a gloved hand to put the baked goods in a box. However they sometimes used the same gloved hand to move things like the tray, which of course are not clean. It would be better for them to use clean tongs to handle the edibles. read more
