I'm obsessed with this french boulangerie. There actually aren't that many in the DC area and this is the real deal. They have a huuuuge variety of pastries, cakes, and light lunches. The line can be pretty crazy, often stretching outside the door. There are only a few tables inside and a small patio, so even if you are lucky enough to get a seat, it's not a place to linger. I had a nice lunch of quiche and salad but it was so crowded that peoples coats and bodies were up in my space. So my advice us take it to go and make a French picnic out of it. read more

My friends and I enjoyed a galore of pastries - Coffee Tartlette, Le Victorian, Delico Pistachio, Raspberry Macaroon, Opera, and Almond Croissant. The pastries were good, just not spectacular. Of all the pastries, the Delico Pistachio was my favorite with a crunchy hazelnut bottom and reminded me of tiramsu with a pistachio filling instead of coffee. The Le Victorian had a subtle ginger and pineapple taste with a sweet whipped cream. The Opera tasted like chocolate mousse. Unsurprisingly, the Coffee Tartlette had a bold coffee flavor. The Raspberry Macaroon was adorable, but nothing special. The Almond Croissant was fluffy, but the filling was lacking a bit. Wish it had more of a creamy filling. The pastries were fun to try, but a bit pricey at $7.70/pastry. The service was a bit snooty and the 2 lines were a bit confusing. If you enjoy patisserie, recommend it! It's a nice cute place next to Bank of America. There is lot of parking but it has so many restaurants and medical offices that finding parking can be sometimes of a challenge. I loved the Mille Feuille, it was amazing but if I have to rate everything is pretty expensive. Close to $4 for a small macaroon. One pastry is $8.5 + tax. I love their baguette too. This is my first visit to Boulangerie Christophe. I was there on a Friday morning to have coffee with a friend. The Almond croissant was a delight and one of the best. Coffee was ok. I think my problem is that I like to add cream/milk in my coffee myself. When you say "a little milk" I guess that's very subjective. In winter seating is limited but we were able to snag a stool at the counter against the wall. Very friendly employees and the atmosphere is very nice. I'll be back. read more

I almost cried tears of joy after finding out there was a Boulangerie Christophe near my daughter's allergist! This little shop is putting out some of the best breads, croissants, sandwiches, and sandwiches in the entire DMV. It was lunch time so my husband and I got a chicken and brie sandwich. It was simple fare but the freshness of the greens, tomato, and chicken really shined through on the baguette. My three-year old was absolutely delighted with her chicken and mushroom pasta (a side serving is the perfect kid portion!). And of course we had to get two lattes, croissants, and a baguette to go. Everything was served on real plates and cups which made everything taste just a little bit better. They also have a lovely little patio which is perfect for spring days like this. I hope they open a location in the Tysons / Vienna area soon (pretty, pretty, please). read more

First time coming here. As soon as you walk in the door, there is someone behind the counter offering the help you (on my visit, this happened instantly). However, for me, at the time, I had to look around for a bit to see the different offerings before I was ready to get something. To the left, they had mostly desserts. To the right, I saw a few sandwiches (they were huge) and several other items. When I was ready to order something, is when I then had to get the attention of someone that works there. I went to the left and the first thing that caught my eye was something called "Buchette". From afar, it looks like cake (I would later discover, by taste, that it was more like mousse). It had different flavors - Chocolate, Coffee, Vanilla, Hazelnut, and I think Raspberry. I opted to get Hazelnut. It was rich in taste and had hazelnuts both on top of and within parts of the dessert. I liked it even though I felt the price was a bit high. I also saw they had marble cake and since I love marble cake overall, I decided to get a slice. However, when I took my first bite (after leaving the store), I was not a fan of the cake itself - it was not similar in taste to marble cakes I have had in the past elsewhere. It was both the texture and the taste that were a bit different. I do want to share that when the Buchette was boxed, some of the dessert (I guess) got caught on a small part of the box it was placed in. After paying for everything, it was I that had to retrieve a napkin to wipe it off. I'll give the shop a second visit to try something a little bit different - not sure when that will be. I came here twice within the last week and tried several things: the chai, the moulin rouge pastry from the front case, a salmon & avocado crepe, a Nutella crepe (it came with whipped cream and raspberries/blueberries), a chocolate almond croissant, and a hot chocolate. The first time I visited, the cashier associate struggled with understanding what my friend and I were ordering (even when we pointed out the items on the menu in great detail) and even though my order was fine, my friend's order was messed up and she had to send her plate back to have things remade. I ate my little side salad that came with my savory crepe to try and be polite while her food was MIA, and once her newest order had arrived I got to dive in and enjoy my crepe (which was black? It was odd yet fun!). My chai was insanely hot (I for sure burnt my tongue - I think the waitress heard me say "double hot" instead of "double chai", the latter was something I could have SWORN I read off of their wall menu that just meant a larger sized chai) but once it cooled I enjoyed it. On our second visit, everything was yet again tasty with the exception of the hot chocolate. DO NOT order a hot chocolate here. It is the most depressing hot chocolate that you'll ever have in your life. I've made better hot chocolate in my house with Swiss Miss packets, and that's saying something! I've been here like 1000 times so I think it's a good time to give a quick review. There are not a ton of bakeries here, let alone French bakeries or boulangeries. We come for the coffee and the flan mostly. My favorite is a crème brûlée, but they have something for everyone. Of course they have bread, sandwiches, every dessert in the book and coffee. Yeah, that's my thing coffee. But what I love most about this place is the service. I've thrown two birthday parties here and they've gone above and beyond. That includes a custom menu and a giant pink macaron cake. While I wouldn't call this place inexpensive, I will say that you get a healthy portion for what you spend. The ambience feels modern and clean. If it's nice out, there's plenty of outdoor tables to sip your coffee and enjoy your sweet treat. It's not quite Paris, but it's the closest you'll get in Montgomery County. Also, please try the baguette. read more

Non, sans façon. I swung by to check out the much buzzed about bakery at Cabin John Shopping Center. There was zero customer in line when I arrived. I took a good look at everything available in the store. Including the two roaches darting across the wall and the ground. And the silly little staring matches I had with the store associate who couldn't be bothered to assist me. Everything was so very well stocked. In such a way that it shouldn't be so late in the morning and closer to noon. I was marveling at the cake display until I saw tons of condensate and higher likelihood of soggy / older cakes. I also noticed the croissants were a no go because it was overbaked. And that the tomato quiche looked sad, stale, and flat. I detected zero scent of fresh baked goods or coffee. Strange for a place that calls themselves a bakery / cafe of sort. What did I smell at this store instead? A foul unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of the stuck up employee. I was taking a look at everything because I was ready to pluck out 2-3 dozens of quiche, pastries, and cakes for a small gathering. What did the store associate think I was doing there? Too poor to afford anything? Shoplifting? Avoiding to interact with me because I might not speak English? Assuming I will be speaking incomprehensible English because I don't look White like her? Was I suppose to apologize for not having an aquiline nose? I was thinking if the place is good enough, my office could actually get breakfast and other items ordered from there on a routine basis. The fall performance art season + gala / holiday parties are perfect for making catering orders. I always wholeheartedly prefer to make big catering orders and support a smaller business than somewhere like Potbelly or Panera Bread. I really wish the TP Brazilian Bakery was still in business. The owners there was so accommodating and welcoming. This foul bakery could surely learn a thing or two about hospitality from them. This may not be a fair review since I've only been here once and picked out one dessert - well I asked the cashier what's the most popular and he told me the Colombo. I like to bake and watch a lot of baking shows, but I've never heard of a Colombo, so I didn't know what to expect, but given its bright orange color... in an Asian bakery, this would scream mango or even passion fruit to me... but it was not, not fruity at all, and quite frankly a bit tasteless.
