This is a super cute, hip, casual Asian food hall (think food court but much cooler) in Rockville Town Center with something for everyone. Whether you want just a drink (alcoholic or not), a dessert, or an entire meal, you can find that that at The Spot. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Service depends on which food establishment you choose, but I have never had a bad experience.

The Spot has a variety of restaurants to choose from including boba and desserts. We ordered food from 3 vendors on one kiosk, as it is self serve. The food comes out in different times so you have to be on the lookout for your food. It is also pretty confusing to figure out where to pickup your food. We had to wait a long time for food when there was not many people since it was near 8 pm to the point where we had to ask for an update on our food to make sure it was still coming out. The skewers were absolutely delicious but the sushi did not taste fresh. Gong Cha is amazing as always. There is a 49 cent convenience flat fee that is charged for every transaction which every potential customer should know about. This convenience fee is pretty high for something unnecessary and is not disclosed until you check out, especially since it is self serve, self pick up, we had to clean the table ourselves, and put away our trays ourselves. There was also no toilet paper in the bathroom. Imagine paying for a $4 donut and it almost becomes $5 with this hidden fee on top of tax and tip, then you have to sit at a dirty table waiting to pick up your food. The free parking is very confusing as well, there are parking garages that are hard to find, then several elevators that end up in different locations. We ended up in a apartment complex then had to walk to the Spot, since there's limited guidance and directions from the parking garage to the Spot.

I love this Asian Food Hall! They've been open for about four years now and they change up the food stands every-so-often. I love that they have a variety of Asian food, from fried chicken and bubble tea to delicate homemade noodles and trendy mochi donuts! The food is fairly priced and all delicious! They also have a mini bar with Happy Hour deals

Great people, great vibes, great drinks. Thursday is packed and Friday has a great house music dj. Come here!

Nice decor I went in around 11:45am and from the looks of the place it seems like a nice hang out spot after work hours

The gentleman handling the pick up orders was bleeding from the side of his head. He was holding a napkin against his head while packaging food orders with the other hand. No gloves. Very concerning and not sanitary.

I have been to the spot a few times. It's always a bit on the pricey side. But they have good stuff. We got my favorite Mian Pull noodles: Beef flank is usually what i get. The broth was great. Plenty of meat and some noodles but not a lot of broth. We also got some fried squid and ninja chicken nuggets. Small portions for the price but they tasted great. There is a lot of increased prices from what it used to be. Inflation am i right?

Loud and dominated by high schoolers who frequent the area. No free wifi sadly, and if it is, it's not good. Some place is good, some needs more improvement. It's ok

Location has a variety of lil restaurants and it's like a food court type of thing. I place my order at the first option as you enter the place( can't remember their name) but I had the tonkatsu which came with its rice, seaweed salad, ginger, 2&2 gyoza & little shrimp pieces I think + 4 California rolls. As I waited for my order I went across the court for Gong cha tea :3 I ended up having 2 Wintermelon Boba Tea and drank 1 while waiting for my order. That's how good they are. The place was not packed so our service was fast, and the staff were friendly. I had actually just come out of the last day of a convention so it was a nice lunch stop. Sadly, I was not impressed with the tonkatsu but disappointed. There was some taste to it but compare to others the batter thickness compared to the thickness of the pork cutlet, it was not flavory as I expected it. This was my first time trying seaweed salad--not a fan and I will stick to spicy or salty seaweed snacks and wraps. Rice was ok, I like their cali rolls, the gyoza was yummy too. I was definitely missing some spicy mayo or some dipping. Not a bad experience so I would like to revisit again and try something from the other shops inside.

Charge extra fee without giving a notice ahead
    Yi Y.

This place charged me 3% EXTRA FEES WITHOUT giving me a notice ahead(IN PERSON). This is ILLEGAL as they didn't clearly and prominently disclose the fees at the beginning of the ordering process to the customer. The extra fee is only €40.3(0.30%), but I hate this kind of practice. And to me, it's a "CHEATING" customer behavior. As a customer, I feel that I am being treated as dumb. I stepped into The Spot to scoop up a quick lunch. The owner/employee there placed the order for me and didn't mention that there was an extra fee. And I didn't see any clear notice about it anywhere in this retail food place. The order cost me $13.45 for the meal and $1.30 for so-called "taxes & fees" which doesn't make any sense. The Maryland State sales and uses tax is 6%. In my case, it should be €80.7($13.45*6%). That means there are €40.3 fees that I got paid without knowing what it is. This was a to-go order so it is legal to charge me a bag fee as Montgomery County charges bag fees of €5.0 per bag. In this case, if the merchant decides to charge the bag fee, it should list the bag fee as a separate charge on the receipt. Also, I only got 1 bag. And there is not a clear explanation of what are the rest of the fees for.

I admit, I pulled into the first plaza I saw that was easy to get in to find something, and wound up at Akira. I've had their ramen before at other locations, but this was my first time at this one. The place had a little bit of a crowd in it, but I was quickly seated. The Rockville location here is perhaps not the most beautifully decorated, with some rather odd ornamentation (like an actual, possibly functional, payphone? ), but it's still a nicer spot than a typical lunch counter. Okay, confession. I have no idea what the different ramens are. I always just kind of pick one randomly, and I've never met a ramen I didn't like. This time, I got the tantanmem. Of course, picking randomly, I picked one that used ivory soap as a topping -- or as you fancy people call it, "cilantro." Realising my error, I quickly caught the waitress and asked for it to be omitted. Akira actually skipped it! YAY! Thank you. I cannot tell you the number of times that request gets met with a "no problem" only for my dish to be overflowing with soap bubbles later. The broth had a little bit of a spice to it, not much, which was delightful. Everything was well cooked, and it really hit my hangry spot. My only small complaint was that my egg was still cold -- but, also, the bowl was set in front of me, and I simply hit the "ON" button and vacuumed it in.

The pork broth is standout, but I absolutely dream about the spider ramen. Named for the fried softshell on the top (which you can ask to swap for more shrimp), has a tom yum-like flavor. Creamy, spicy and slightly acidic, the broth could be poured on cardboard and I would eat it. Noodles are always perfect and the seafood is present, but not a huge portion - so you can focus on the broth. My only complaint? The lobster broth in the spider ramen dish is not listed as an option for the "make your own" bowl...which would allow me to perfectly customize it. I will regularly order the spider bowl in the meantime with no softshell, extra shrimp, and if I'm feeling down additional noodles and broth (allowing me to indulge for multiple meals) . Bubble tea is tasty - especially the rose milk tea. This place has a counter with a handful of seats and two tables for 4-6. After waiting for a table, we decided to mostly do takeout. We can order online. Would be great if they had a spot out front for takeout pickup as parking around the restaurant can be hard at times.

There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical.
