Really love this place! My family is moving to Asia soon, but I wish we could keep coming here regularly to support them! Because, (especially for a strip mall sushi place), they are wonderful. Our first time here the kids were melting down and the waitress was so patient and kind. 2nd time I came alone, right when they opened, and they were mopping with a strong smelling cleaner which was bothering my throat...They propped open the front door for me to ensure my comfort! That meant a lot to me because I really wanted sashimi for breakfast & I couldn't have stayed otherwise! But let's talk about the food. Do yourself a favor and get the Sashimi Appetizer...the presentation is so special with little purple (fake) flowers, and the nice cuts of fish come on tiny beds of shredded daikon with shizo leaves...both of which I adore. The lunch special is a great deal, even though the rolls aren't large. Their ginger doesn't have pink dye in it which I always appreciate. Their homemade salad dressing it quite literally the best I've ever had, loaded with a mild ginger. We all-around love this place and I will miss being able to walk over! I hope they continue to thrive as a business.

Vegetable Roll and Larry's roll
Molly K.

I had a great visit at this local business! I met up a friend for girl's night and we split the edamame, agedashi tofu, Vegetable Roll and Larry's Roll. We are outside which was quiet and great for beautiful food photos. The server was very attentive and patient while we asked to make sure our meals would be vegan. She let us know that their tempura batter does not have egg. Next time I will try their sweet potato roll! The appetizers were great. We got a generous portion of edamame. It was lightly salted and filling. The agedashi tofu is always one of my favorite appetizers. I liked that theirs had lots of crispy onion bits and seaweed on top. The dipping sauce was delicious and I would order this again! I was so impressed that this business had two vegetable rolls on their menu! The main vegetable roll was not the typical avocado, cucumber, and carrot roll. Instead it actually had interesting vegetables like pickled radish which made this meal feel elevated instead of just a step up from the grocery store. The Larry's Roll was the star of the meal for me. I love that it had both seaweed salad and mango in it! It was hearty which is rare to find for vegan sushi. These two rolls are more than enough reason to have this place bookmarked as a place to patron as a vegan. I do wish that the plate did not have that decoration on the side with the Mayo based sauce. Luckily nothing contaminated my rolls, and I will ask for that to be left off the plate when I come back for another visit. Our meal with two appetizers and two rolls was $28. Not a bad girl's night price at all! We thought about ordering the fried banana for dessert without whipped cream but we will just have to wait to try that for next time!

Chirashi Bowl $23
Phillip L.

Disappointed with this Chirashi bowl. When I asked server, they said 10 pieces and different kind of fish, varieties. Turn out on 4 kinds of fish with 3 tuna / 3 salmon / 2 white fish/ 2 tilapia. I was expecting to have some Hamachi / scallops / roes / mackerel/ eel ... And the worst part is white fish and tilapia was very smelly, not fresh. Tuna and salmon not as smelly as the other, but soon. This shows that chefs / owners doesn't know or care about fish freshness.

Proof that they cheap

Food is okay but service is completely hurriedness. You ask for extra soy packets and they give you one for a $16 dollar meal!! I do not recommend to anyone. They put a price tag on just about everything. They probably charge for napkins after even spending $20 or more dollars. I'm sick of this place taking up space in such good neighborhood. Definitely should be replaced with a better sushi restaurant that can afford to treat there customers better, and not buckle and dime u for everything they can. Smh

American dream on right I forgot what's on the left

TL;DR the dinner/regular prices are too high and the size of their special rolls are WAY too small! Their sushi itself is fresh and tastes very good, and you get the best deal by doing their weekday/Saturday lunch specials and using the coupons they occasionally mail out. I will still return for that! My parents and I have been frequenting Moko Sushi since it opened because of its convenient location and good sushi roll lunch specials. However, I've cut back a star. While their sushi rolls taste pretty good, the size of the special rolls are always SO SMALL for their price of ~$15. Today, we ordered the 2 and 3 roll lunch special and 1 special roll (American dream). I have no problem with the normal sushi roll size, but the special roll literally looked like it was only 4 pieces rather than 8 when I saw it. Turned out the roll that looked a single roll was really 2 small rolls stuck together. Their special roll pieces are not any bigger than their normal sushi rolls -- in fact, they might be SMALLER! In my opinion, the size of their special roll is literally 1/2 the size of other popular sushi stops in MoCo, like Yuraku and Love Sushi, which are priced the same or even less.

Spicy tuna

Ordered delivery. Got spicy tuna crunch roll, spicy salmon roll, the sweet heart roll and miso soup. The spicy rolls were not very spicy. Really not spicy at all. Bland. An overall theme of the meal. The sweetheart roll was not balanced. The hot chili sauce totally blew my palate out and that's all I could taste. The miso soup came very hot but was pretty bland and darker in color then I am use to. I tried to give my dog some of the fish that was on top of the sweetheart roll and he even pushed it around a bit. Eventually he did eat it...Over all very unsatisfying and didn't quench my sushi needs .

Good and fast. Next to cvs and safeway. Wish it could have been a little more spicy, but the flavor was still good, and portions were large enough for 2 people to share. Easy carryout.

Cute spot for sushi in Rockville. Super friendly staff and prompt service! Sushi was great - we got the spicy salmon and the moko maki. Great selection of red and white wines as well!

Bad sushi

Oh god why....seriously WHY.... It's Christmas so first of all THANK YOU for being open. I understand being with family is more important but working on this day, very nice of you all.....with that said..... Not sure if the chef is mad or if someone unqualified is making the food tonight given the holiday or what but we are trying to enjoy this sushi but we can't. The photo is as much we could eat and the rest has been thrown away. What a waste right? Yea it hurts. All of this was $100 and we just can't. The problems. The rice is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Every bite is gag. Sushi rice shouldn't be mushy and should be more vinegary . This is just mushy rice, steam mushy nasty rice. The roles can't be eaten. The pink lady roll right in the middle are huge and it's like gag every bite. The seaweed salad is the best and the portion is huge.....until you realize it's actually stacked cucumbers at the bottom (fail). The house salad dressing even is blah. Like I'm BEYOND disappointed and so sad what a waste of money. Again I know I sound like a jerk it's Christmas so again thank you for working but wow I'm so disappointed. Wasted money tonight and can't eat this. Gas station sushi or even buffet quality sushi beats this place for sure without a blink of an eye. Hope you guys have some success and continue ur high ratings as I'm not some business basher for no reason but what is up with the rice here! Is it a maryland thing??? The best thing of this meal was the way it was packed. Nothing spilled out and was packed very nicely......

Their Ramen was outstanding. To go bags and way takeout is organized is well done. Sushi is good for the price.

It was really popular that evening, so the three of got squished at the table meant for two, but we didn't mind. The menu is pretty extensive, offering ramen, udon, tonkatsu, rice bowls, grilled fish sets, and more. We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Overall, food was delicious and homey. I'd definitely recommend!

Absolutely floored by the fatty tuna sushi roll. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, I don't think I even minded. We got the katsu and sashimi combo plus some rolls on the side. The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

The discounts were quite noticeable. The seared salmon normally costs $10 but drops to $4 during happy hour. Service was not the fastest but our server was very kind and accommodating. *Lychee Cosmo: sweet and fragrant. Although it was advertised as lychee forward, it leaned more toward a cherry blossom or floral profile and tasted somewhat artificial. *Kusshi Margarita: refreshing with a solid pour. *Seared Fatty Salmon: a nicely thick cut of salmon that was evenly seared. I did wish the mayo topping had more flavor as it felt more textural than impactful in taste. *Nigiri and Sashimi Combo: came with three pieces each of sashimi and nigiri, featuring tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. I was impressed by the thickness of the cuts. The tuna was tender and clean, the yellowtail was rich and fatty, and while the salmon was leaner, it was still fresh and not fishy. *Toro Crispy Rice: the tuna was very rich and fatty. The rice was well prepared and not overly oily, but the dish could have used something acidic or herbal, like shiso or pickled radish, to balance the richness. *Salmon Avocado Roll: the avocado complemented the lean salmon well. The roll was generously filled and the rice did not overpower the ingredients. *Spicy Tuna Roll: the tuna was quite mild, so the roll lacked strong flavor, though the fish itself was tender. Structurally, the roll was well made and evenly filled. *Salmon Sushi Bowl: came with six slices of salmon over plain rice and pickled vegetables. I wish the rice had been seasoned with vinegar. The pickles added a nice crunch and contrast. *Scallop Nigiri: not part of the happy hour menu. The scallop itself was large and soft, with more natural saltiness than sweetness. It would have benefited from a more acidic rice base to balance it out. The sushi itself is not particularly memorable, but it is solid across the board. I would not pay full price, as there is room for improvement in flavor, but the happy hour value brings this closer to a four star experience rather than a three and a half.

There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical. Staff did say that this does happen from time to time and the customer needs to exit the app and reorder. Except for the 20 minute delay, things worked fine. We placed at least 12 small orders during our meal. The staff was very good about filling water glasses, bringing our food and taking away empty plates. Really - high praise for the staff. The restaurant is very pleasant to sit in. It has Asian motif and nice music playing over the PA. The only issue was with the ordering system, which, as I said, I'm thinking was unusual.
