a tray of sushi and a container of sauce
Veronica G.

My best friend told me if I want quick sushi to go to Lotte. If you go into Lotte and head to the left side of the store, you discover, Neko sushi! They usually have boxes of sushi out in the front and everything looks SO FRESH! The first time I went, I got a box of three rolls. This box cost about $13. Which was not bad at all! There was a simple yellowtail roll, salmon roll, and a tuna roll. Everything tastes as fresh as it looked! Everything was simple, but so good. Cannot complain! If you want quick, fast, and easy sushi, this is the spot!!! Worth the try. 10/10.

This store is easy to miss since it is inside the grocery store Lotte. However, I 100% recommend picking up some sushi from here given the value for its price and freshness! For $70, I got 65-70 pieces of nigiri and specialty rolls (too lazy to accurately count). The sushi look and taste fresh. I haven't seen any other sushi restaurant offer this impressive deal. I will definitely be coming back to try more! My only complaint is that I am not sure what type of nigiri and rolls that the party try comes with.

Ask the Community - Neko sushi

Where is Lotte in Rockville?

It is the old Safeway in the Twinbrook Shopping Center.

They do not have a salmon row and Eel Nigiri?

What is the question?

Cutest hole in the wall!!…read more Authentic Japanese food on Rockville Pike. Never knew what I was missing... their sushi seriously tastes like it was made with love. Absolutely floored by the fatty tuna sushi roll. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, I don't think I even minded. We got the katsu and sashimi combo plus some rolls on the side. The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

Staff was friendly and it felt like I was at a home kitchen because it felt cozy and welcoming. I ordered the katsu don and agedashi tofu. I loved how the tofu was slightly fried and the sauce complimented it very well. This appetizer felt light and made me crave for it more. The katsu don felt very comforting and was flavored nicely. I did add some togarashi for some spice. I would definitely come back to this place! It reminded me when I visited Japan because of the atmosphere and food.

The discounts were quite noticeable. The seared salmon normally costs $10 but drops to $4 during happy hour. Service was not the fastest but our server was very kind and accommodating. *Lychee Cosmo: sweet and fragrant. Although it was advertised as lychee forward, it leaned more toward a cherry blossom or floral profile and tasted somewhat artificial. *Kusshi Margarita: refreshing with a solid pour. *Seared Fatty Salmon: a nicely thick cut of salmon that was evenly seared. I did wish the mayo topping had more flavor as it felt more textural than impactful in taste. *Nigiri and Sashimi Combo: came with three pieces each of sashimi and nigiri, featuring tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. I was impressed by the thickness of the cuts. The tuna was tender and clean, the yellowtail was rich and fatty, and while the salmon was leaner, it was still fresh and not fishy. *Toro Crispy Rice: the tuna was very rich and fatty. The rice was well prepared and not overly oily, but the dish could have used something acidic or herbal, like shiso or pickled radish, to balance the richness. *Salmon Avocado Roll: the avocado complemented the lean salmon well. The roll was generously filled and the rice did not overpower the ingredients. *Spicy Tuna Roll: the tuna was quite mild, so the roll lacked strong flavor, though the fish itself was tender. Structurally, the roll was well made and evenly filled. *Salmon Sushi Bowl: came with six slices of salmon over plain rice and pickled vegetables. I wish the rice had been seasoned with vinegar. The pickles added a nice crunch and contrast. *Scallop Nigiri: not part of the happy hour menu. The scallop itself was large and soft, with more natural saltiness than sweetness. It would have benefited from a more acidic rice base to balance it out. The sushi itself is not particularly memorable, but it is solid across the board. I would not pay full price, as there is room for improvement in flavor, but the happy hour value brings this closer to a four star experience rather than a three and a half.

We came back tonight for the AYCE. You order from an app that you connect from your phone. The…read moreordering was easy and each person in the party can order items at the same time. There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical. Staff did say that this does happen from time to time and the customer needs to exit the app and reorder. Except for the 20 minute delay, things worked fine. We placed at least 12 small orders during our meal. The staff was very good about filling water glasses, bringing our food and taking away empty plates. Really - high praise for the staff. The restaurant is very pleasant to sit in. It has Asian motif and nice music playing over the PA. The only issue was with the ordering system, which, as I said, I'm thinking was unusual. Ice cream and soft drinks included.
