We ordered the Neighborhood Bird, Fried Shrimp, and Fried Broccoli, and everything was absolutely amazing, as usual! The Neighborhood Bird was delicious--the bun was perfectly steamed and fluffy, while the chicken was so well seasoned, crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The fried shrimp were huge (seriously, about four bites each!), with a light, crispy batter and fresh herbs on top. And the fried broccoli is always a favorite of mine. It's incredibly flavorful and perfectly crispy. A special shoutout to Jesus, the manager, who was incredibly sweet and made my mom's birthday lunch even more special by treating us to peach yuzu juice. It was so refreshing and paired perfectly with our meal. We really appreciated the thoughtful gesture and wonderful hospitality. We had such a great lunch and a memorable birthday celebration. The food, service, and overall experience were fantastic. Ekiben will always be one of those places I'll happily return to again and again!

Another go-to, the tempura broccoli, was fried in a very-light crispy batter, and flavored with a light house-made vinegar sauce. Our go-to spicy tofu BRAH "bowl" lit us up with soft-centered baked tofu cubes in a medium-spicy sauce with the flavors of fresh herbs, garlic, and shallots, over a bed of tender long-grain white jasmine rice and with a pretty mango/papaya shredded-carrot slaw. The long rippled-noodles were tender, smothered in a spicy savory brown sauce that also pushed the envelope of my admittedly somewhat wimpy heat tolerance :-j We got the huge lightly-battered crispy flavorful shrimp, over white rice, garnished with sliced pickled red onions and pickled cucumber circles over tender fluffy jasmine rice. We are always happy with the staff at this Ekiben location, with hot flavorful generous on-time take-out. (Aug 2026).

I came as part of a large group dinner. I appreciate that they took large reservations and sat us in a nice spot in the middle of the restaurant. The server was nice and patient, but I did notice his jacket smelled like cigaret smoke. I asked what to get, since the menu is *huge* and overwhelming (I'm not sure why sushi, steak and pad Thai are on the same menu?). He recommended sushi, so I got a flaming dragon roll (I forget the exact name). Anyways, everyone else also ordered and the food came relatively quickly. Now...when I tell you this is the worst sushi I've ever had. Again, I hate being negative but I have to tell it like it is! When they first presented the dish, it was cool because they serve it on fire. I knew that they had sake in the dish (probably so the flame can keep going after they take it out of the kitchen). However, when I bit into it, the sake was *extremely* overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else except the sake. It was extremely alcohol-heavy and I could not finish the dish. I asked others to try it, and they all agreed that it was too heavy. The prices were also very high for what we got. The only food I enjoyed were the appetizers, but they were still unremarkable. Overall, I regrettably cannot recommend this place. None of the dishes stood out, and the sushi was shocking.
