Best vegan pho I've had in baltimore! I'm so happy I found this place, they even do dairy free Thai iced tea!

Over the years coming to Hampden I had never eaten at Monas super noodle. Yesterday we had the chance to pop in during a quick lunch. Spacious interiors and there appeared to be only one person at the host/server stall. We did beat the lunch rush and were the only ones there around maybe 12pm? My bf got the tom kha soup and I glt the laotian chicken box. I love thai or laotian spiced fried chicken so I was excited. Maybe my judgement is biased because I was expecting very heavily seasoned fried chicken with herbs and seasonings but what I got was not really seasoned any differently than any ol regular fried chicken. It was very very crispy but that was about it. I felt a bit disappointed. It was also served with just some unseasoned steamed rice and a pretty typical sweet sour sauce. My bf did enjoy his soup. He had no complaints at all. I would come back to try the pho maybe. The seafood pho looked good. Maybe when the weather isn't 100 degrees. read more

This place came highly recommend to try the Laotian fried chicken box. The rice which was sticky rice was actually somehow under cooked with hard pieces of rice and the fried chicken was overcooked to the point of being dry. The pho was not as flavorful as I had hoped and the meat were too large when it should be thin slices for the broth to cook.

The wide noodles are fresh and AMAZING! I got the pad see ew (one of my staple favorite dishes). Noodles 5/5, everything else about the dish 3/5 - 4/4. Chicken was average, sauce was average, and then I've got ingredient preferences on this dish (I strongly prefer Chinese broccoli to regular, and smaller carrots than big chunks). But the level of spice--which for me, is zero--was perfect! They use a numeric scale 0-5, and I loved that. Flavor was good all around, too--an enjoyable meal. It was pretty quiet in there for a Tuesday at 1:30PM Pho #4: Meat to noodle ratio was acceptable. Broth needed more salt. Summer rolls 6/10: The sauce was off. I was expecting the peanut sauce that's slightly thicker. The wrap themselves were not dry. You could tell these were freshly wrapped. Pad Thai 5/10: The dish was sweet which is how you know it's truly catered for Americans. Noodles weren't overcooked. This place is in Hampden and I've been meaning to check it out sooner. It's right around the corner from my daughter's school. It's very cute and quaint inside. I went on an early afternoon. The waiter was very friendly! The spring rolls were delicious and fried to perfection. The broth of the pho was amazing. My spice tolerance is extremely high however I mistook the spice level of the chili oil. I put about 5 huge dollops in my pho and was pleasantly surprised. I meant to order dessert but I was full by the time I finished. I will definitely try this place again and order some of the other menu items. They have both Thai and Vietnamese items on the menu. The vibe at Mona's Super Noodle was immaculate. I went right when they opened at 11 a.m., and the energy was perfect. They were playing great music (the playlist was THAT), and the waiter greeted us with a big smile. I ordered the Seafood Pho and a non-dairy Thai tea. Both were delicious. Ok so I've been eyeing this place for quite some time now and I finally had a chance to check it out tonight! It was a solo date type of night as I was really craving some good noodles and it has literally been the longest week!!! I was greeted warmly and sat immediately upon arrival at one of the high top tables. The young lady at the front was super sweet and had cute little star stickers on her face. My food was yummy! I enjoyed the shrimp summer rolls, the Thai tea less dairy, and the shrimp pad tai! Portion was great and I left feeling satisfied in both craving and fullness! Mona's is a charming restaurant I've walked by in Hampden a million times, but didn't visit until last Friday. My friends and I bypassed the main dining area (which looked inviting) and settled in the annexed bar. I loved it in the bar area, it was a vibe and the music was a mix of chill hip hop and old school r&b. I ordered flat noodles and tofu for my main and a tofu appetizer. The appetizer was just more tofu like what was in my entree so I don't recommend getting both together, lol. The food was well prepared and fairly spicy. I've never had Laos pho before but this was so delicious! I'm Vietnamese and have been craving a good bowl of pho, but in Baltimore I've found it all to be just ok - but this place definitely hits the spot. It's a little more beef flavored with hints of garlic which makes it so yummy. The beef is tender and there was a good portion of noodles too. The papaya salad was pretty mild at its highest spice level but was still good. It had great acidity, spice and unami in each bite. The food here is amazing. Truly, all of it. I eat here a few times a month and I've never had a bad meal. This place has cracked the code for sauces, which make everything about 100 times better than I expect it to be. The flavors of basically anything on the menu are gonna be robust - spicy and sour, salty and sweet, etc. Nothing here is one note. Their bahn mi are delightful, with just the right kind of slightly crispy, majorly fluffy bread. I can't say enough good things about their soup options. In addition to a whole pho menu, they also have tom yum and tom kha, which I'm pretty sure have cured me of a cold or two in the past. The summer rolls are also excellent, as is the papaya salad. My husband and I have been enjoying the food at Mona's for years. Everything is absolutely exceptional -- I've truly never had a bad meal there. My favorites are the pho and the bahn mi, but their salads and appetizers are fantastic as well. The laotian chicken box also looks incredible, although I've never had it. The food is so good that I've walked into the restaurant not even hungry and I've ended up ordering a full meal because it smells so amazing. We love Mona's so much that we actually had our rehearsal dinner at the bar that's attached. We worked with Mona and Dylan on the setup and logistics. I've been hearing great things about Mona's for a while now. I ordered some curry and coconut shrimp for lunch one day and was pretty pleased. The curry was a generous portion size with lots of flavorful chicken and a nice combination of spices. It wasn't very spicy though so I wish it had a little more heat. The coconut shrimp were absolutely delicious. Super crunchy! I'd probably get the shrimp again but next time, I definitely need to order the pho. They have a sort of multi-pan-Asian menu with a nice variety of choices from various nations/cultures. I got the very simple Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. It was simple but wonderful. We got three bottles soju we had a ball. My server was unattentive rude and very very STEREOTYPICAL. A black young couple she was trying to bill us before offer dessert any other drinks anythingg. I have a newborn a 3 month old I stepped out because it was my first time away from my baby she assumed I ran out on the bill . Mona's is a cute little place right on the avenue in Hampden. It's a mix of Thai and Vietnamese with an emphasis on soups but with other staples like noodles and fried rice as well. I stopped by on a very cold day and the friendly staff recommended the pho (Vietnamese traditional beef noodle soup). It was very good, especially on a cold day. The portion was reasonable, not huge, but for $12 it was certainly fair. It comes with bean sprouts, lime and Jalapeño on the side and the tables have hoisin sauce and a couple of spicy chili oil options. Beware, these are VERY spicy. I like spice and have a decent tolerance for it but even a small spoonful brought my pho up from mild to scorching. I still liked it but if you are sensitive to spice I would stay away. The meet was good, a bit tough but not bad. The broth was the star though for sure. The interior of the place is cute and it looks out into the avenue. It wasn't crowded when I was there and everyone was attentive and welcoming. I look forward to going back to try more of their items. read more

Definitely do not recommend. I live in the neighborhood so I was really hoping to like this place, as Thai is one of my very favorite foods, but the dish just tasted plastic. I got take out so I can't really comment on the service or atmosphere of the restaurant, but I ordered on the spot and it only took about 10 minutes. Honestly, I've had better microwave dishes. I couldn't even eat much of it. It's currently sitting in my fridge and I'm probably going to just throw it out. So a big waste of 15$! read more

Sorry, I got neither the "noodle" nor the popular Chicken (big thigh) Box. Next time, I will (just wasn't that hungry). Any of the 0 people that follow me know that the previous (sushi) joint here (Nori) was one of the worst known to humankind in food, atmosphere (well, they did have a jazz night) and cleanliness. But Mona's is great! Great food and great service. A couple times the female server came back to make sure I had what I needed or if I needed a spicier entree or protein. I ate outside and really enjoyed the sweet and sour Tom-kha coconut-lemongrass-lime juice and so on soup--really liked the pungent bite as the liquid love went down my throat. Wow! The Basil Eggplant and veggies with brown rice entree with 3-scale spiciness was also great.
