Came here for sushi, but left with a big 'ole bowl of red curry and rice. The sushi is made to order, but the sushi chef has his own hours, which is centered around the dinner rush. Unfortunately for me, I showed up for lunch. Compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, I found that the curry here is a bit thicker which I prefer. I thought they did an excellent job grilling the eggplant in the curry too, which I haven't had before. But what made me the happiest was that they are suuuper generous with the bamboo shoots here, and the green beans are fresh. Loved the extra crunch. I've been to Trader Joe's several times but never explored the rest of the establishments in that complex. So I was pretty surprised to discover that there was a Thai restaurant. It is not a large restaurant, but it is nice. Our food came out at a decent speed. The portion is decent and will definitely fill you up. The flavor balance was off on many dishes. You can, however, count on friendly and attentive service. The restaurant itself is not too big with a few tables. The restaurant is in the mall where you can look out to the mall patrons walking around. I tried the papaya salad, street noodles and pad Thai. The papaya salad was okay, a bit pricey in my opinion. Between the street noodles and pad Thai, I liked the street noodles a bit better. We had another great meal at Absolute Thai. The food was delicious with authentic flavors, especially the Makrut lime leaf. We had curry puffs -- flaky, and golden on the outside with warm curry paste on the inside. Then we had Pad Prik King, Green beans and carrots in a spicy red sauce topped with fragrant Makrut lime leaves. We had a delicious Pad See Ew with smoky flavored noodles and pork. I was in Kenilworth for a little spa time and happened upon this little gem and its huge menu of Thai and Japanese deliciousness. The service was so friendly and made me feel like I was dining at a friend's place. There was cute Halloween decor abound and a comfy cute overall vibe/theme. Absolute Thai-Sushi is like a hidden gem, tucked away in the Kenilworth mall. I popped into Absolute Thai with my friend and her daughter, and we all thought the food was delicious. A quaint little restaurant, nothing fancy, but their food packs flavor. Although we stopped in not too long before closing, our waiter, who I think may have been the owner, was really nice. My friend wanted her dish prepared a little differently than it was listed on the menu, and he simply said "you can have whatever you like." You don't often find that kind of service right before closing. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures because I was hungry, but I definitely intent on heading back to Absolute Thai to try more of their food. read more

Had to spend the morning in the mall due to cleaning aftermath, and decided to try this Thai place recommended by a friend. Service: the owner/server was friendly, but he mentioned staff layoff and hiring difficulties that caused the place to open one hour later than usual (at noon instead of 11am). Also he alone was in charge of welcoming guests and checking the bills on top of all the service, the whole thing ran a bit slow. I went in at noon, finished ordering with QR code scanning, and waited for 5 minutes for the first two dishes, and another 15 minutes for the other two dishes. I also had to wait another 10 minutes to get takeaway boxes because he was too busy serving other guests. Food: I tried four siganture Thai/Southeast Asian dishes. Could not finish them all and packed up the majority of the latter two. -Chicken satay: served lukewarm, not quite steamy, probably sat on the waiting counter for a while. Taste was nice though. Chicken was not overly deep fried and retained much of the juiciness. Satay sauce had spot-on thickness and heavy taste of peanut, a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. -Massaman curry: ordered with pork, medium spiciness. A bit too watery, wish it were thicker. But taste was nice, had the burning sensation of spices, while also retaining a pleasant sweet and sour frutiness. Pork was bland though, as if they were just blanched and dumped into curry. Needs more seasoning and simmering in the curry. -Pineapple fried rice with chicken: fried rice came with two shrmips and I ordered chicken on top. Tasted nice, not too dry, had the refreshing sweet and sour taste of pineapple, spiceness is spot-on, and generous portion of chicken. I would like the pineapple dices to be a bit smaller and more numerous to create an even texture. -Pad thai: standard. Generous portion of crushed peanut. I would like the bean sprouts to be lightly fried rather than toally raw. Overall: 3.5-4 stars. Some letdowns, service could be an issue if they do not hire an additional hand, but the food is quite solid, probably the best Thai/Southeast Asian place in the greater Baltimore area so far. read more

I'm here to tell you to drop whatever you're doing and go to Absolute Thai-Sushi to get the pineapple fried rice with chicken & shrimp - HOLY MOLY. This fried rice is so insanely delicious!! Really flavorful blend of spices and veggies. The shrimp especially was perfectly cooked. If I had to say one negative, I agree with another reviewer that the tomato chunks were off putting, but i am not a fan of tomato, so there's that. I also noticed the tomato in other dishes anyway, so I think it's just part of their style. Also, the portions are huge! This rice dish lasted like three meals for me, so definitely well worth the price. We love a generous meal! The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and very clean with great service. It opens up into the Kenilworth shopping center, so keep that in mind depending on the vibe you're going for for dine-in. The Shops in Kenilworth have gone through a major makeover and Absolute Thai-Sushi is one of the newest additions! I have had my eyes on this place for a while since it's rare to find a spot that combines both Thai food and sushi. Best of both worlds, in my opinion! The restuarant was a lot smaller than I expected it to be but the menu items certainly packed a punch. The set up is different than the other restaurants in the mall as the dining area is pretty tiny and is open to the main area of the mall. The service was really fast and friendly and our server was patient as we tried to land on what to order - so many options! We ended up getting the shrimp tempura roll, the chive dumplings, the veggie springs rolls, and vegetable fried rice. Let's break it all down... Shrimp tempura roll:Since it seems like Thai food might be the specialty here as opposed to the sushi, I played it safe. I ordered this roll because I feel like shrimp tempura is pretty hard to mess up. I must say, it was really delicious! One of the best shrimp tempura rolls I have had with plenty of sauce and a nice crunch inside from the asparagus. The chive dumplings: This was a bit of a wild card choice as neither me or my dining partner ever tried them! They were a little different than I imagined (don't expect a classic dumplings or shumai) but they grew on me the more I ate them! The sauce they came with was really delicious - light, sweet, and salty! I took half of them to go and the server was kind enough to package up some extra sauce for me too (not something you see everywhere). The spring rolls: This was one of the few things I wasn't a fan of. The texture was nice and flakey but there was something off about the flavor - I've had better elsewhere! The fried rice: THE STAR OF THE SHOW! If you ever come here, be sure to order the fried rice. It wasn't overly oily or doused in soy sauce like you see elsewhere. It was fresh and flavorful with plenty of veggies. My only complaint: big chunks of tomato in the fried rice. I'm not a fan of tomato and have never seen tomato in fried rice. Perhaps that is more authentic to Thai cuisine? Overall, this place exceeded my expectations and was really delicious. I'd definitely return again for the fried rice and to try a few other sushi rolls! read more

I have eaten from here twice this week. The service was excellent! I visited with my twins and the server was really nice and provided everything I needed to eat with my twin boys. I always enjoy taking my kids to kenilworth mall because there is a lot of space and it's kid-friendly. The place wasn't very full at the time so, it's very convenient with kids. It is quiet and the service was super fast, which is excellent when dining with little kids. In terms of the food, I have to say it tastes good, but it's super salty. The vegetable soup and pineapple rice were salty. I wish their broths were less salty. read more

Always on the hunt for some good sushi, I decided to try this Thai restaurant after curiously checking out the Shops at Kenilworth after a trip to Trader Joe's. The restaurant is located on the bottom level of the mall with the other restaurants right by the fountain. It's a very cute space. The young lady at the restaurant was very helpful as well as the chef when explaining the different ingredients of the sushi I wasn't familiar with. I decided on an order a veggie spring rolls and the dragon roll. The dragon roll is a shrimp tempura roll w/ avocado asparagus masago topped w/ unagi sweet kabayashi and spicy sauce. I omitted the masago (fish roe) and unagi (eel) and instead opted for fresh cooked salmon on top. The sushi rolls were very tasty! I was pleased with my order and will definitely be back to try their Thai dishes. read more

I had a noodle dish that was a cross between drunken noodles and pad thai. It was ok. A bit too sweet and too saucy for my liking. Small Thai fast casual place inside Kenilworth mall. Great service and adorable atmosphere. The menu had several good options, but food mostly tasted like it was prepared earlier and heated up/put on a plate for our order. The shrimp tempura was similar to grocery store sushi and the steamed dumplings tasted microwaved. They were a little stale and had a funky fishy flavor. My husband got the pangang curry which was good and took a while to come out, so made fresh. Had a floral curry flavor. They brought drinks with cups of ice and all of our food out to us which was nice. The chicken satay was tiny and has an awkward sourness that was not my cup of tea. I was getting worried for the authenticity of this place. Then came the Drunken noodle that I ordered Spicy. It did not disappoint. Real Asian level spiciness with just enough fresh, crisp, and sweet vegetables to contrast the flavors as the chili burns your mouth in that lingering/mouth numbingly good way. Can it get spicier? Yes, but this spiciness is just enough for you to get singed just enough to masochistically enjoy the Thai spiciness without needing to look for nearest source of milk or ice. I have 4 stars just based on the Drunken noodle with pork at Spicy level. My wife's duck curry was good too. But she got mild so it was a little boring. Yum! Great new addition to the Kenilworth shopping center. Located on the 1st floor in the center. Nice open restaurant with views of the fountain in the center of Kenilworth. The menu is laid out nicely and it lets you know the spice level of the food you would like to order. It is also very Gluten friendly, they have call outs on the menu. The food is very fresh and delicious, everything was made to order and came out in a timely manner. We really liked the Crispy Curry Puff, it was our favorite dish, we liked it so much we ordered two orders of this. *BAD NEW MANAGEMENT* this place was pretty good before, way better when it first opened, then they changed owners,changed menu, and took my favorite appetizers ( Thai street food ) off the menu...just went and saw it's under new management AGAIN since I went a few months ago (it was still good then)... now it's awful! my Thai tea tasted salty & wierd plus it was 3/4 full and not the same recipe! Also- my noodle dish literally had 2 shrimp! when questioned,The new management didn't see a problem with this...when is somebody going to get this place straight? used to be a great friendly guy that went above & beyond, he made the place good! now, there's a lazy, unfriendly woman...they are awful now, trying to cut corners and quality to save a buck ! saw in another review they gave a woman rotten mango twice! nope! too many other great Thai places I can go. This place is the best Thai restaurant in the Towson and Baltimore area. We have gotten more dishes since our first visit and we absolutely love the flavors and the quality of each dish. Some of the basic Thai dishes like pad thai and drunken noodle are on point. Their sushi is decent. The atmosphere is interesting because it is located in a plaza food court but it is nothing short of a restaurant if that makes sense.
