Pho Dat Thanh has everything. Clean restaurant, good service, and good Pho. It doesn't take much for me to be pleased in Pho restaurant. As long as the Pho is made with care and picture perfect. I ordered D2 with brisket, tendon, and tripes. Most places are sloppy with tripes but this place does it right. Their noodles are very thin. If you live or can get to this Pho place you're lucky! I would love have this place back home in Hawaii.

When it's a cold wintery night with little sunlight for days to come in the midst of final exam season, the one sure-fast cure to your chilly heart is pho! It's been a crazy busy week and I couldn't add anymore on my plate by coming up with a weeknight dinner. I am so glad I was able to call this restaurant after a final exam ended to put in a late night order. The person was the phone was so friendly and helpful to help do the order on the phone and make it easy to pay on the store instead of being required to order online. When I arrived, the food was hot! The interior of the place looked cozy :) I had such a delicious dinner, they packed everything hot and fresh along with ample extra condiments. It was a basic spice level, so if you want it spiced, be sure to request for some hot sauce stuff.I highly recommend ordering the vegetarian pho and vegetarian summer rolls. Parking is limited to street parking and adjacent parking lot.

Burnt Bahn xeo, do not order

Do not get the Bahn xeo. They don't know how to make it right. It came out burnt. It was filled with fillet beef but it should have thin pork belly slices instead so the texture was completely off. It came with wilted lettuce, definitely not fresh. Pho is alright. It's good for the area and convenient.

This could have a been a really decent review but... 1. Summer Rolls: Steamed shrimp, lean pork, vermicelli, and fresh vegetables rolled in rice paper served with sweet peanut sauce (2 rolls). This appetizer is always my 'go to' when it comes to enjoying Vietnamese food. It wasn't necessarily bad but I've had better versions (more herbs/ veggies). It was a decent starter MEH... 2. Pho Ga (Chicken Pho): Only portion size available is Large, which is just fine for me. This is a chicken breast rice noodle soup in beef (or chicken) broth. Served with rice noodles, bean sprouts, hot pepper, fresh basil leaves and slice of lime. I opted for the version with chicken broth. I absolutely love a good bowl of pho. It has the innate ability to just soothe my soul. It ALWAYS makes me feel better. The side dish of veggies was pretty scant so I asked for more basil & sprouts. Our server quickly returned with more veggies. SCORE!!! The STAR of this dish was the broth. It was so flavorful and hit me right is the yummy spot... lol. The chicken was a little tough but there wasn't much so I didn't care. It was a delicious veggie pho w/ a few strips of chicken. I admit, I'm a little biased. I've had Pho Ga w/ slow roasted chicken and that chicken was absolutely out of this world goodness. So it's very difficult for most places to beat that w/ their poached versions. I digress. This was a delicious dish that hit the spot. I was fully sated after destroying this massive bowl of yumminess. SCORE!! 3. My friend opted for the: Bún Ga Xão Xa Ot (Stir Fried Lemon Grass w/ Chicken on Vermicelli). This dish is served over soft vermicelli, fresh bean sprouts lettuce and basil in a bowl, topped with crushed peanuts accompanied by a house special nuoc mam, fish sauce. It's marked as *Spicy*. It looked beautiful. High marks on presentation. I thought he really enjoyed it. Then I realized he was intentionally not eating the chicken. When I asked why, he said the chicken was very tough. Not good at all. The rest of the dish was demolished so I'm guessing he was a fan of the rest. Seems like the 'takeaway' is, the chicken is overcooked (whether poached, boiled or stir-fried). If that gets remedied, the dishes could be on another level of goodness. The BIGGER issues with this experience were: 1. Seating. The restaurant is partitioned into two sections. One side was full of patrons. There were tables available in the section but we were seated on the other side where no one was. Initially, I thought it must be packed on the other side and that's why we were seated alone. The problem was, people kept coming in. There were four different groups of patrons that came in. Each of them was readily seated on the busy side. Why were we singled out? I noticed were the only AAs eating there but truly hope THAT was not the deciding factor to our seating. Who knows? All I know is... it was odd/ off-putting. NOT COOL. 2. Filthy Eating Section. The floor on our side was absolutely filthy. Dirt/ trash was swept into piles but was never picked up and thrown out. Absolutely disgusting. Were we sitting on the 'trash side' or something? Those piles of trash/ dirt stayed for the entire 45 minute experience of dining. EPIC FAIL/ CRIME!!! While I enjoyed the food, the overall experience left me nonplussed. Food-wise, 3-stars. Service/ambiance-wise, 1-star. Overall rating: 2-stars. That's a shame.

Checked out this spot with a friend recently, but nothing about it floored me. Lemongrass chicken with vermicelli was above average, flavorful enough. My friend enjoyed the pho, but didn't rave about it. And speaking of floors, the one in the dining room was littered. I can only imagine what the kitchen floor looked like.

Super dim lighting Super bland broth Super bland curry paste Super nice staff Veggie Pho with beef broth.. 1 mushroom, 5 carrot slithers, several mini broccoli florets, 3 pieces of tofu and noodles.. I used everything they provided to try to give the soup some flavor (white onions, cilantro, basil, chili pepper sauce the works) it was like spicy water.. Curried veggie was pasty and bland also. If you've had better this would not be an option.

A2. Vietnamese Spring Rolls- Sooooooo gooood!

I went here for a dinner date recently and it was quiet, cozy and romantic. There were people bustling through, some coming for online orders, others coming to dine in. I suggest bringing a sweater or jacket during the cold seasons as it can get a bit chilly when customers come through the front door. I perused the menu and settled on the House Special #1. It was a combination of beef, shrimp and chicken in a black pepper sauce. It was SO good! I ordered some Vietnamese spring rolls as apps and they were equally delicious! Crunchy, flavorful and perfectly fried. I can still taste those! Highly recommended. This location is in the middle of busy downtown Towson, near the old Green Turtle, so it can get quite busy during rush hour/weekends. Parking may be a bit of a hassle, so just be aware of that. All in all, I loved the food and chill atmosphere & I would definitely come back!

Taste: 5 stars Value: 5 stars Overall: Good pho at a reasonable price! Wait time can be slightly long during busier hours. We had a great meal here. We had the pho tai gau (eye round and brisket), combination fried rice, and a savory pork pot. Everything was delicious. The serving sizes were large and generous. The prices were very reasonable considering the inflation everywhere. Parking can be a bit hard to find. Will definitely be back! *meow*

I feel like it was an off night for this place. The place wasn't at half capacity but the service was very lackluster. We were seated right away but the server looked like a child and he didn't even acknowledge that we were seated. Another server had to tell him to go over to our table. When he got there, you could barely hear anything that he said. He just mumbled, looked around, wrote down our order and walked away. The portion of food is small compared to other pho restaurants and you'll probably get better pho. All the side vegetables were extremely dried out and didn't even look appealing. The amount of grease in the broth was a bit too much for my liking. I think I'd give this a send shot but we will see.

Which is wild, because I know I've taken a bunch of food pics here that I've never posted... complete waste lol. We walked in and were seated immediately and ended up getting the second-to-last available booth. Most of the room was couples on lunch dates, plus a group of friends, and later a party of about 7 took over one of the tables. Noise level was mostly moderate, with a quick sprinkle of loud when that bigger group got going, but nothing crazy, still totally fine for a date or a relaxed lunch. My wife ordered the A2 (slices of eye of round steak, well-done flank, and soft tendon). I got the A6 (eye of round steak and soft tendon). The pho was good, the broth had a lot of flavor. I did order extra noodles because while I like the pho here, the portions are a little smaller compared to some other spots we go to. I loaded mine up with bean sprouts, tore up some basil, and let the jalapeños sit in the bowl for a bit for heat. Lately though, I've been more about the chili oil, which they'll bring out if you ask. We also got shrimp summer rolls, which are always a go-to for me when eating pho anywhere. These were fresh, great texture, and the basil really pops. The peanut sauce is one of the best parts. Honestly, I could come here just for the summer rolls and that sauce. I also grabbed a taro smoothie, lightly sweet and creamy, solid choice. Food came out fast, maybe 8 minutes after ordering. Service here is consistently good. The staff is friendly, not pushy at all, and they actually check in on you without hovering. You can always get someone's attention if you need something. They even let a couple move from a table to a booth once one opened up, which I thought was a nice touch. The place itself is very clean, the tables and floors are always well kept. I don't really remember music, but there was a TV on playing college basketball. Overall vibe is relaxed. Parking can be a little tight since it's tucked behind a Rita's and the layout is kind of awkward, but even when it's full you're not walking far, just a compact lot. Price-wise, our total was about $40, but that included an extra summer roll and an extra smoothie. Without the extras, it would've been under $30. My only real critique is portion size for the price, specifically with the pho. It's not a deal breaker, but it's why this isn't my go-to spot when I'm really hungry. I'm a big guy with a big appetite -- my wife would be fine eating here any day of the week. Would I come back? Yeah. The food is good and the service is solid. For me, this is more of a quick lunch spot or a stop when I'm on the move, rather than a full dinner destination. Consistent, reliable, and never a bad choice, just depends on how hungry you are.
