A friend and I stopped in here after an afternoon of shopping in this particular plaza off Route 40. I knew right away I wanted bun, but my friend had a lot of questions. Food was great. Unethical tipping was not. I Dined in I got a half order of calamari and a small order of chicken Pho with spicy broth. Very good. I've eaten there with regularity over the years. The bill and it was $38.31. It was a bit higher than it used to be, but I just shrugged and thought it was inflation and I left the gentleman an eight dollar tip in cash. He takes my card and the bill and then he comes back and says thank you, but gives me no receipt. I said can I have the receipt please? He goes over to the register. gives me a reprint. It's my fault because I should've looked at it. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and it's not the itemized receipt. It's just the receipt with the totals and the receipt says amount $32.75 tip amount $5.56 creating the total of $38.31. I did not give him nor did I authorize that tip amount that was charged to my card. I came back here over half a year later and order their bun bo hue again. It seems like they really improved it and their ingredients seem way more fresh! I really like their chilli oil, which is a must have in all the pho that I eat! I brought a little bit of my own shrimp paste from home to eat their sliced jalapenos and to add to the bun bo hue soup. There is just something about that salty (shrimp paste) and spicy (jalapeno) bite that pairs well with bon bu hue. Their menu is huge! I took some photos of the menu, but not all of them. Something that you don't see often about pho places is that they offer alcohol also, such as liquor not just beer. I didn't order any so I can't comment on that. Came in a whim as we were craving pho and were in the area. Customer service was not bad, especially considering we got here towards the end of the evening. The highlight was honestly their egg rolls - crispy, full of flavor. Other than that, the summer rolls were okay, mostly noodles (filler), and unfortunately the pho was disappointing, especially the broth. I focused on eating the meat and noodles, but the broth was more sour than you'd expect for pho, so I definitely think focusing on the broth quality and flavor is what would make things better. This was the third Vietnamese restaurant I have been to since relocating to the area from the West Coast. Inflation has affected everyone and everything so with that said when a restaurant labels something as "Large" I expect just that for the price being charged. I was really surprised and impressed to see my Large bowl of Pho arrive at my table with a great ratio of meat and noodles. The broth was flavorful and seasoned well and noodles were blanched to the proper texture. Service was prompt and the restaurant was clean. Great variety of condiments table side as well. I know there's many more places to try but I will definitely keep Pho #1 in my rotation. read more

Great place for authentic Vietnamese food! Big menu and even has pictures of many dishes in the back. I got #54 which was shrimp, pork and egg too on vermicelli with some veggies and nuoc mam. It was yummy. Hubby got Bun Bo Hue and also enjoyed it. I truly appreciated my Vietnamese iced coffee was served the legitimate way. That is separate glass with condensed milk on bottom and coffee drip on top and separate glass of ice - delicious. So many places serve it already mixed and flavors can vary a lot. Last night, my adult daughter wanted something different from her usual dinner. Ordinarily, she enjoys pan-Asian cuisine, primarily Japanese or Korean, and had not had anything Vietnamese in a very long time. I often see Pho 1 from the highway, and had wondered about it for some time. On impulse, I stopped and ordered #1, the Phở Dặc Biệt. The restaurant itself is beautiful and so warm and inviting. Unfortunately the broth tasted more sour and less umami than usual pho broth. There wasn't a lot of beef flavor, maybe the beef bones weren't left to simmer long enough before serving. There was also a lot of fat in the amount of flank I was given, I think the recipe in general could be improved. Was on this side of town last week running errands. Me and a friend stopped in for dinner and I'm glad I did. Everything was delicious, tried both types of spring rolls. I actually liked both spring rolls. Depending on your preference. The clear rice paper ones are extremely fresh, with the basil and sprouts. Their peanut sauce is so delicious. They are known for their Pho, and the bowls are extremely large here so be prepared for a filling meal. I also love that they have other Vietnamese dishes as well so it's hard to choose. My friend snagged a bubble tea on the way out as well, and he said it was really good. Their service was really good as well. In and out with no issues. While the food and service are still great, the prices have become very expensive. We just spent nearly $140 to feed our family of five. Pre-pandemic, we were spending about 35% less than that, and would go about monthly. With these prices, though, we've only been going about twice a year. Restaurant owners should really reconsider how much added cost their customers are willing to bear, or they'll soon have none. Also, the sriracha & hoisin sauce portions were smaller too, so we had to supplement those with our own sauces. read more

I feel like I've had better versions of everything and it tasted good, I just wouldn't make the trip specifically to eat here. The services was very quick and attentive. They filled my water glass regularly, which for me is a plus. I tried one of their specials. The shrimp balls were more like shrimp wonton pockets, they were tasty, just a little over cooked for me. The shrimp on sugarcane was my favorite item on my plate. Perfectly fried shrimp, so even the tails were enjoyable to eat. The pickled vegetable were good, just a sweet pickle, which I'm not a huge fan of. The fried calamari was more breading than calamari, which I know is a bonus for some people, but I could have used less breading. The spring rolls were a little loose, but everything inside was fresh. The peanut sauce leaned soy sauce, which normally isn't my jam, but was a nice contrast to most of the sweeter foods in my plate. The lemonade was a little sweeter than I like mine. Stopped by here for some pho on a weekend afternoon and we were quickly seated. I opted for the first option pho with a mix of all the toppings. Depending on how hungry you are, you can get a large or small portion. The noodles came out quickly and but the soup was not very warm and the noodles were a little harder than I'd like them to be. I like to judge pho based on the broth, and this one was fairly mild and could use a tad for flavor. Overall, if you're stopping by the mall and want a quick lunch, this place isn't bad. Great food and friendly atmosphere. First off, the pho. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better. The broth was clean and mild and it came with the usual fixings (bean sprouts, sliced jalapeño, Thai basil). If you want to jazz it up, there is sriracha, hoisin, and hot chili oil at every table. I wouldn't come back here for the pho, but... The appetizers and other Southeast Asian dishes are fantastic. The spring rolls were a little odd with thinly sliced beef in addition to the shrimp (never seen that done with beef before), but still tasty with the peanut sauce. I definitely recommend the green papaya salad. It makes a great appetizer shared or even an awesome main dish for one. My wife and I split the #45 with it's deliciously sweet and smoky pork cut into thin slices. The sweet and pungent dipping sauce cuts through the smoke and marries it well to the vegetables and rice noodles. An overall very tasty dish. My companions seemed to really enjoy their Korean BBQ Beef and the pork skewer after dipping it into sauce. There's an incredible selection of drinks. They have bubble (boba) tea, loads of fruit smoothies, including durian for the very brave, and fantastic cocktails; I really enjoyed my "Cadillac" cocktail which was like a cross between a Sidecar and a Margarita. Prices are fair, but it is easy to splurge and overindulge. You could eat very well for around $10-15 or you could end up dropping a lot more if you want to do drinks, and appetizers, etc. The food is healthy and the waitstaff friendly, even if they occasionally got stuck in the weeds on the busy Saturday night that we went. The service was good, they smiled, greeted , served and brought what I asked. The food was bad, over priced and not close to authentic (except for the fish sauce and vegetables). I ordered Ga Roti, rice and chicken. It came with 1 deboned thigh, a heaping amount of red rice, and a side of fish sauce, fresh veggies and pickled veggies. The rice was soggy and saturated in cooking oil. The 1 deboned chicken thigh was too soft. I think they boiled it, tried to fry it and recooked it in a sauce. The $19 bucks I paid was not worth the soggy rice and preboiled chicken. The veggies helped make the dish easier to eat. The place has a vintage look, like a French cafe. I haven't ate here for over 3 years. This is because the broth had than had a sour taste to it. If I do come back, I'll have to order something different. read more

I had the bon bo hue there. It was good, but the basil and vegetables served on the side were not fresh. They were wilting and had brown spots and discoloration on them. A quite nice Vietnamese restaurant by Sam's club in a strip mall, has very comfortable seatings so would come once in a while. All the food we've got so far tasted great, pho, beef rice noodles (bun bo hue), spring rolls were all great. Staffs were quite welcome as well. The only problem is that the portion of the noodles. I've had bun bo hue once that the portion of the meat was more than the rice noodles! It's hard to find good Pho in Baltimore.. I have had some good Pho a few times on the west coast. This place was pretty decent. Very basic. You sit, order and pay at the register. Chopsticks, spoons, sauces all on the table. Fresh broth, big chunks of chicken. Spring rolls and papaya salad were very tasty. The beef was very good. The waiter took our orders and the server returned literally in about 2 minutes with super hot food. I come here for Pho or Cold Noodles and they rarely disappoint. The noodles are cooked well and I can get tofu as a side for my soup. They do have quite an extensive menu but I never feel confident ordering anything more complicated. The restaurant itself is quiet but does have two televisions usually playing CNN. For Vietnamese in this area it's affordable and tasty. An Lois is probably a better choice for quality if you are willing to drive. read more

This was my initial initiation into the land of Pho...but I have since matured and I have definitely had better. Sooo located on Rte. 40 in the same shopping center as the Sprint, Sam's and the like. Parking is fair at best, I mean it is a rather busy area. The inside is nothing to fuss over, several chairs, booths, not too much color.... I have dined in and taken out, the service while dining in was fair; although, the sever did forget some items. I think the experience of getting pho is better while dining in though. This place always deliver for great tasting pho. Of all the pho places, this one is my favorite bc the broth, the noodles, and vegetables are excellent. For the price, you get a lot of value as the portion of noodles and meat is extremely generous. There are only two sizes, and both sizes are packed with noodles and meat. Their Pho is far from #1. It's not great. At all. I mean you have to drench the soup with Sriracha sauce and Hoisin sauce for extra flavor. DRENCH.. Aside from that, their rice dishes aren't bad. I also like their Vermicelli with it's fresh veggies and delicious fish sauce. Their menu is extensive so don't expect the food to be top notch. Rice with Pork Chop or Grilled Chicken are always safe bets for those who're new to Vietnamese cuisine. The fish sauce may not smell good but it goes really well with the rice dishes. Service is consistently good and they have a TV you can watch if you're bored.
