We don't eat out often as we don't have money like that but today we chose Hao Chi based on the reviews. I wish we had gone elsewhere We ordered $70 worth of food for pickup and left a $10 tip. Out of all the food we purchased, all of the chicken was too dry to eat, the dumplings were burned to a crisp and sent out anyways, the noodles in the lo mein were dry and crispy. When asked for house mustard, they had none, when asked for chili oil they gave us chili sauce. And only 4 packs of soy sauce and 4 packs of mustard were given for a family of 4 . Terrible place I would not recommend. The chef has absolutely no pride in their food whatsoever. I truly hope they see this and stop giving this garbage to people. It was not worth $14 for sub par mediocre orange chicken. The prices on the menu are misleading, it says $10 but they are "crossed out" lightly with pen and there are no replacement prices. Hao Chi is located in busy Fells Point, right on Broadway. Their Chinese food is delicious--perfectly seasoned, not overly salted and nuanced. I love their lo Mein -- best in Baltimore. Their finish with fresh kale sets it off. I've also tried their pepper steak and bourbon chicken, both had high quality of meat which is tough to come by with the current food shortages. The food was pretty okay for Chinese. I got the orange chicken with white rice combo, and it came out hot and packaged very nicely. The chicken was just okay, and the white rice was simple. It's good food for when you're really craving Chinese, but don't expect it to be the best Chinese you have ever had. The young lady at the register was so nice to my friends and I. She was sweet and helped my foreign friend with ordering since he was having trouble understanding the menu. Props to her! The store was very cozy and calm, and the view through the window allowed us to look at some of the different restaurants. The door was wide open and inviting. As others have mentioned, Baltimore doesn't exactly have good Chinese food (like Americanized Chinese food at least). That being said, Hao Chi is one of the best options in the city. Full disclosure, I've only ever ordered delivery from them. But every time, the food arrives hot and well packaged. Top food items include the general Tso chicken which I usually use a baseline, the crispy beef, the hot and sour soup. The spring rolls are fine, nothing special. The crab Rangoons are not great. For some reason the wrapper is so thick! And the crab seems to be initiation despite having so much crab in the city. But let's go back to those top options. The general Tso chicken is always plentiful and very tasty. It could be more spicy but it's at a level that honestly works for everyone. The crispy beef is really good! You can't have just one piece! And the sauce is delish. Finally, the hot and sour soup is both hot and sour ALL THE TIME unlike other places in the city. It comes with the mushrooms, tofu, bamboo shoots and egg. Always tasty if you like that tangy flavor. Try them for take out and don't be disappointed. I'll update as I try more items. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I've ordered from here a few times and always get the same thing, beef lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. I'll start off by saying the beef lo mein is very good. Unfortunately, this time the sweet and sour chicken was the worst it's ever been. Half of the the fried dough did not even have any chicken. The pieces that did include chicken had thin strips not even whole pieces of chicken. Pictures show the whole story. Ordered the combination Hunan Beef. Was very unimpressed. The egg roll was soggy and tasteless. Bleh. The Hunan "beef" was mostly...rice and veggies. Little to no beef. Recently tried this spot, as it had good reviews on Yelp. It's small, with no indoor or outdoor seating. Menu on the wall or you can look at a paper menu. They have an extensive menu and the prices are very affordable (for big portions). You order at the counter, pay, and then grab your food when it's ready. The food came out pretty quickly and it was super hot. I tried the fried rice (good), and sweet and sour chicken (huge portion, but the only thing is that the sauce was separate from the chicken, probably so it didn't get soggy; sauce was good). The portion was very generous. Took the food to go and ate outside by Broadway Market at the little tables. Definitely want to try again given there were so many options! Ordered delivery from this place as a late night dinner (9:30pm) after a long flight. I looked at yelp reviews and saw 4 stars on this restaurant. Ordered the take out and it was easy and the order got here really quick and it was piping hot. Then I tasted the food and it was pretty bland. I had the chicken in black bean sauce and some chicken fried rice. The chicken in black bean sauce was ok. Nothing special. The chicken fried rice was not good. The chicken pieces looked like strings of white meat (chicken I hope) but it didn't taste good and didn't taste like chicken. Not sure who rated this place 4 stars. I love Chinese food and know what good 4/5 star places taste like because I frequent them, and this place was no where close to 4/5 stars. Sorry, but it's the truth. First time ordering from Hao Chi and we were not disappointed! We tried the shrimp pad Thai, pork drunken noodles, wontons in peanut sauce and general Tsos chicken. The wontons were our favorite part!! Would definitely order those again. The pad Thai and drunken noodles are definitely a Chinese place type take instead of authentic Thai but we are still not complaining! The drunken noodles were full of flavorful pork and the pad Thai had more shrimp than any place we have ordered! The Pad Thai was also cheaper than other places around the city so that was an added bonus. General Tsos chicken was very crispy and flavorful, not too salty. Hot &Sour soup, shrimp egg rolls, orange chicken, lo mein, Kong pao shrimp, steamed rice. Everything was fresh and properly seasoned. This is a family run business and they clearly know what they are doing. My daughter is thrilled to have them in the neighborhood, and so are we. My husband and I went past this shop the night before and saw four or five works sitting in the dining area, no customers. It was very sad looking, so I promised myself I'd give it a try soon. Just had lunch there - it's their second day of being open so I cut them some slack. There was an older guy in a black apron and red T-shirt at the street corner handing out their menus. There was one customer at a table (waiting for his take-out order) and an older Chinese woman who nodded at me politely as I entered. Two young kids - like maybe high school? - in red STEM T-shirts were at the counter and they took my order with excitement. I sat at the only 2-top to wait for my order. There were maybe eight others who came, only one other dined in, like me. As I waited, I could hear the main woman cook loudly directing the two kids at the counter. It was in Chinese, so actually, it sounded like mean yelling. At one point, the cash register malfunctioned and I could hear the young girl, as only a teenage kid can, plaintively wail, Can you fix this? The woman came to the front to fix the register and reprimand the girl (it sounded like). As I sat, I had a view of the dirty windows and beat-up trash can. Despite this place being brand-spanking new, it needs a scrub. Music playing overhead would make workers' "conversation" less jarring. My Broccoli Beef was ready shortly, cost less $7, and was pretty good! The rice was light and fluffy, the beef was tender and well sauced, and there was lots of broccoli! So, they definitely need work on customer relations. But my dish was good. I'll be back to try something else. read more

This is one the best Chinese restaurants in Baltimore. I've had multiple items and find it to be consistently tasty. Sauces are fresh and flavorful. Egg roles are crispy but not overly wrapped. House special fried rice has a great mix of proteins. Hunan chicken blends vegetables with white meat, real chilies (not flakes) and a good heat. The hot and sour soup though is the best I've had in the city. Actually spicy and sour but with a good assortment of vegetables and fresh pieces of tofu that give it more umami than usual. The lunch prices are on point too if you are looking for a deal. They're finally a spot I would consider a go-to. read more

We just ordered Steamed Dumplings, Pad Thai, and Chicken Yat Ka Mein. They were the worst food We have ever ordered and tasted. The meat in the Steamed Dumplings smelled and tasted like it had gone bad. The Pad Thai was only very spicy and had no other taste. The Chicken Yat Ka Mein tasted extremely salty without any other flavors. We could not imagine any food could be worse than this. Everything tasted very bad and spoiled. We threw out more than half of our food away. We were left in a bad taste in our mouths even after brushing well and a stomachache. read more
