I recently got delivery from Peter Chang Baltimore and say that the food was reliable and delicious. I loved that the portions were a bit smaller so I could order a number of different dishes. The fried rice was flavorful and not overly salty. The spicy Taiwanese chicken had a good Szechuan burn and the chicken was well fried. The pork with green pepper had a good ratio of each ingredient. The Mao po tofu had a great Szechuan spicy burn and the tofu was silken. I also got the sticky rice wrapped in leaf and it was exactly what I crave during dim sum. Overall, you definitely get quality food that's worth the price and I would recommend!

Before I go in-depth on my experience here at Peter Chang's, I want to share a recent story about how I will grade on Yelp. Earlier this year, I was stuck in the desert (literally sand, hot sun and all) in a tiny little town with only a handful of food choices. Something that would be "bad" or "below par" --- in time, gets a boost in opinion due to lack of options or competition. I quote my mom, "In a quiet and lonely forest, even the crow sings pretty." Baltimore once had a Chinatown once upon a time. I'm sure as the Chinese residents moved out to the 'burbs, they took the good food with them. Baltimore's Asian cuisine, and in this case, Chinese cuisine, Peter Chang's is a welcomed addition to menu of dining choices. TLDR: The food here is some of the best Chinese in the city of Baltimore. The flavor, taste, texture, and presentation are all excellent. Portions are reasonable - but maybe a bit on the small size. The dining area and atmosphere was pleasant and clean, perhaps a bit simple. The service was friendly. The food made it to the table promptly after ordering, dish by dish. My friend and I deliberately ordered dishes that are rare or less prevalent at ubiquitous Chinese take-outs: Dry Fried Beef Chow Fen - Tasty, fresh tasting, not too oily or greasy. Good noodle/beef ratio, maybe a little heavy on the onions. Large enough to share. Sichuan Popcorn Chicken - Crispy batter, tender chicken, delicious tossed sauce, slightly bit too salty. Green Bean W Pickled Cabbage - was hoping for more pickled cabbage flavors and taste. Beans crunchy and tasty Crispy Veggie Spring Rolls - very crispy without being overcooked, filling is a bit too garlicky for my taste Hongkong Glutinous Rice w Chicken - Very tasty and mini portion of the typical dim sum favorite. One of the best values on the menu Hot Chili Oil Wontons - wonton wrapper perfectly cooked, kept its structure, Filling was just enough and balanced. Chili sauce spicy but not insanely so. Shanghai Wonton Soup - I really enjoyed this soup. The broth was light yet flavorful, the vegetables and wontons were I wished they had a larger bowl size, Just before I came to this spot, I read up on Peter Chang, the chef. I didn't realize his many culinary accolades and storied past. However, I think I had very high expectations coming through the door. I wasn't disappointed per se, but I was hoping that I would have my socks knocked off. Being hard to impress and very critical, I found the food pleasing to the palate. The service was above average for a casual Chinese restaurant. Being that many of my friends and I are big boys, I was hoping that the plates were a little more plentiful. Though I was full and satisfied after dinner, I thought for a $60 bill for two adult men, we should have had some leftovers. The atmosphere gave me conflicted vibes. I felt as though the facility, partial table service, quality and menu selections suggested that I would want to dine traditionally and sit down but the self-ordering kiosk, self serve table settings and utensils, hinted towards fast casual food. However, the tables are cleared by staff and not self-bussed -- which leans back to traditional restaurant. I think the fast food leans well to busy hospital and surrounding office workers -- so it is appropriate. I walked in, really wanting this place to earn 5-star impressions from me. The food, service, and atmosphere is totally solid and worthwhile. I don't think this Peter Chang's can top the best food in NY, LA, or even DC but it's pretty darn good; just wished the portions were a good bit larger. PC's loses a point for dollar value (inflation hits hard), but being that I've only sampled a small taste of their vast menu and that the next closest rival is at least 30-60 minute drive away, it gets a boost for being a local star (hence preface vignette). 4.5 stars -- rounded down because, there are places within biking distance I would go to first, if it was a showdown for the best $30 spent for dinner.

We ordered taiwanese basil chicken, grandma braised pork belly, shredded pork with garlic sauce, triple mushroom tofu pot, Dan Dan noodle, eggplant w spicy garlic. Overall, the food was decent -- the food came out fast and the service is friendly. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from and are all pretty flavorful. This is a nice quick dine in Asian restaurant in the east Baltimore area.

Came here on a Friday night thinking we'd be waiting forever but we were seated immediately and served SO quickly! The waiter helped us navigate the menu and helped us choose drinks and food to our taste. The cold noodles were perfect- great spice and flavor! The tofu and mushroom dish was excellent. The popcorn chicken was decent as well. I enjoyed the fried rice as well. The veggie dumplings were so fresh and pan fried well. The fried egg bao was SOOOOOOOO delish, melted in my mouth! Had a great time and cannot wait to try more items! The outdoor space is really cute as well and they have an event space upstairs!

Best kept secret on a Sunday! I went to visit Mr. Chang's after the Bmore Flea and it was the perfect recipe for a good recap of the day. The food ordered Al went really great together, especially the dumplings! The Shrimp & Chive Dumplings should be ordered pan fried (), the Singapore Noodles just melted in your mouth with flavor and spice, and ALWAYS ask for more chili oil @ the bottom of those tasty shrimp dumplings! Service was swift and simply easeful. I think I've finally found my Sunday treat spot!

While staying the evening in Baltimore I came here because I was in the mood for some authentic Szechuan food and I'm very familiar with Chef Peter Changs and his restaurants. The concept at this location is fast casual - You walk in, place your order at the counter, they give you a number and you sit down and they'll bring your food to the table. The young girl taking orders was very friendly, helpful, and nice to talk to. Their menu is slightly different than Mama Changs or the Peter Changs full-service menu I'm used to. But I found some items that really appealed to me, including one of my favs, which is their Bamboo Fish. I also tried their sizzling mixed pepper chicken. Both dishes were tasty and perfectly prepared! Nice spice to both as well. The venue is small, but has plenty of tables... on the weeknight I went, they were pretty busy the entire time and most tables occupied. But that girl working the counter did a great job clearing tables and talking to customers in between taking orders. Highly recommend stopping in, especially if you like authentic Chinese eats!

This was my 2nd time at Peter Chang! I brought my friend with me for her first time and we had gotten Pork Soup Dumplings and she got the Crab and Pork Soup Dumplings. She had also got the Spicy Dan Dan noodles, she liked them but said it could do without the peanuts. I had also gotten a Pork Belly burger and really liked it but would say wish the Bun was different, the bread was a little tough but maybe going for a brioche style or Bao Bun styled bun would be best. I got a Early Grey boba tea as well and it was very good! My friend got the passionfruit tea which she really loved. Our waitress was nice and we got our stuff out at a decent time! The setting was nice as well, I would definitely be back again!

    Singapore noodles

Given this eatery is under the same umbrella as NiHao, I thought the establishment would be...idk, classier? Don't get me wrong - it's cute and sunny and has nice chairs and tables and such...but it's an order at a counter situation, with no alcohol (this displeased me quite a bit). I'd read previous Yelp reviews that said the dim sum was overpriced, etc. I didn't order any of it, and yes, it was due to the prices. Seems like it would take a fortune to get full if ordering 4 items comes out to over $40 (and are small portions I'm sure). That said, I went with an order of Singapore Noodles for $18 and a matcha tea for $6. The very nice cashier helped me figure out my tea sweetness ratio so kudos for customer service. My noodles looked really good when the arrived at the table. I dug in and they were indeed good, but so are the Singapore noodles from my Chinese delivery place where I get a lot more and the $18 price tag INCLUDES a delivery fee. The matcha tea was tasty, but not sure it was $6 tasty. Part of my issue here is the low-budget concept and space with the high price on menu items. Seems like Peter Chang needs to figure out which lane to be in.

I've been waiting for this place to open. It's a block away from work, and we're lacking some good lunchtime places in the area. So when we saw they were opening soon, my coworkers and I were super hyped. They did push back their opening date a couple of times, but when I saw they were finally open, I went by myself to check it out since none of my coworkers ended up being in and have already been back once with them. I was greeted by the owner or manager who told me it was self-service. You order at the cashier, they give you a number, and you find a table. They bring out the food to you. You also get your own utensils, water, etc. I was surprised about the self-service at first, but I actually really like it. Especially for people who come in during their lunch break to get some food, it makes things quicker. The food came out fairly quickly. They're all super nice, too. I've tried the singapore noodles, the dry fried beef chow fun, the har gow, siu mai, the black sesame egg yolk custard buns, the mushroom pork belly rice bowl, and the triple mushroom chicken tender. They've all been pretty good. The noodles have some decent wok hei flavor to them. The mushroom porkbelly rice bowl was really good, I brought that back for my husband, and he enjoyed it. I do wish there were more mushrooms in it. The triple mushroom chicken dish had a TON of mushrooms and was our favorite. I will say they're pretty expensive for a Chinese restaurant. Most dim sum restaurants don't charge $9 bucks for har gow or siu mai. I normally see it around $5 -$6. The siu mai only comes with 3 pieces too. The entrees don't come with rice, which is an extra dollar. Noodle dishes are a little smaller in portion from your normal Chinese restaurant. The food is good though, and it's honestly better than their main restaurant, Ni Hao. It's nice to have a good Chinese food option in Baltimore, finally! Already planning on coming back here next week with my coworkers!

    Szechuan spicy boiled branzino

Peter Chang did the thang !!! I stopped in around 1pm and the place was pretty full. Got seated and got to it. I ordered the Szechuan Spicy Boiled Branzion & that baby was def spicy. It was huge (pause). Enough for 2-3 people to share. Came out hot sizzling hot, & remains hot due to the heated pan it comes out on. Very salty tho & I couldn't do with the Korean noodles inside. 6/10 The limoncello crispy jumbo shrimp were absolutely amazing. A unique taste that will have you coming back for sure !! Perfect !! 10/10 The General Tso' shrimp ..... booooomb !! Cooked perfectly..& the sauce was incredible. The only this is, the dish is so small. You'd definitely have to order 2 of them. Shout out to them. Caught me by surprise. The only thing I don't like about this place, & any place that's "restaurant'ish" is forcing me to pay for my food immediately as if I was at Chipotle . If I wanted to order more food or drinks, I don't wanna keep swiping my card multiple times, just leave my tab open. First time there tho. Didn't know things operated that way. Also, the cups were dirty! I'm def coming back for more. No question. I spent about $125.00. Hope you guys enjoy it. #TeamDiesel

A bit of a let down. Ordered a bunch of food for a work lunch so I got to try a decent amount of the menu. I had high hopes for this spot as I heard the food was delicious. The fact that you have to pay for rice is ridiculous. Should just be included with the dish and price. So make sure you add rice to your meal before checking out. The portions aren't super generous and I found the food to be greasy. Meat quality is good and they have a good amount of vegetarian/vegan options. The pricing is a bit high for portions and quality. None of the dishes really stood out to me, was just fine in my opinion.

The best part was the spring rolls and the donuts, those were like what I expected. The fried rice had very large pieces of vegetables (entire broccoli florets, piece of baby corn, carrot slices) and was not crispy, chewy, or anything that suggested it was fried except oily, and was the oblong oval kind of rice, some kind of short grain or sticky rice. So the texture was wrong to me. The flavor was underwhelming and did not use nearly enough soy sauce, salt, MSG, whatever. These things were pretty consistent across their other dishes as well, including lo mein and hunan chicken; veg pieces too big, flavor not there, sauce too thin and not dark enough. Parking was impossible for pickup; had to circle the block 5 times. The location was scary at 8:30PM, there was a homeless woman yelling at me from the sidewalk on the way in, just something to be aware of. However my order was ready on time and they were polite.

Blue Island (Aug 31, 2023, Thursday, ~ 2p.m.)…read more Blue Island is located in the Lexington Market in the heart of Baltimore City. I first went to the Lexington Market pretty early mid-morning on Aug. 30, 2023 before I headed to the B&O Railroad Museum (A MUST-SEE when visiting Baltimore.) and was expecting a food market selling fresh produce, unprocessed foods, confectionaries, flowers etc. I was totally wrong. It is instead a two-story structure carrying many different types of cuisine. Blue Island is located on the second floor. After climbing stairs of many steps right in the middle of the structure, Blue Island is located on the left side towards the back end of the second floor. There are a few tables and chairs set up so you can "dine-in". I was way too early, and the store was not open yet. I decided to come back the next day to try out the food due to my tight schedule that day. If you do some research, some of the other sites claim Blue Island offers Malaysian cuisine. Being born in Singapore, a very close neighboring country of Malaysia, I can tell you that it is most definitely NOT Malaysian cuisine. Their food, however, may have some Malaysian spices incorporated into it, and I taste that in the "spicy" dishes (Not spicy enough for my taste though. Way too Americanized.). The high quality ingredients are also part of the Malaysian heritage. What impressed me most was the pretty large sized shrimp that was part of the ingredients in the fried rice and fried noodles. In my many decades living in this country, I've eaten a lot of what I call "fake" Chinese/Asian cuisine, and I have never encountered shrimp of that size with any of those rice/noodle dishes. What stood out even more was that shrimp was FRESH - a double bonus. As in many places, you can order the combos, but there is a catch. My past experiences with these places is that when you order a 2-item combo, that means either a base rice and/or noodle PLUS 2 entrees. At Blue.Island, the rice or noodle IS COUNTED as one item (No half and half either.) in the Combo. I ended up ordering a 3-item combo with fried rice and two of their spicier entrees. The food was very delicious, and a definite cut above the rest. I also had time, while in line to order the food, to have a quick chat with one of the servers. I discovered that the owner and some of the servers were originally from Hong Kong. The two I spoke with also spoke Cantonese, and I was provided with a little discount off the total price, which was totally unexpected and appreciated. If you decide to eat at this place, please be prepared for a constant line of people doing the same. I was there for about 90 minutes to rest my tired feet after long hours of sight-seeing, and the line never ceased throughout that time. Do yourself a favor and patronize this place. I don't think you will regret that decision. Ah, those large tasty shrimp! For the taste, quality, and value. I rate this place a full 5 stars. Happy Eating !!!!
