Steamed Vegetable Dumplings (3)
Sarah S.

my partner and i came here for AYCE brunch. there is a 90 min limit and it's 32 dollars pp, which is not bad at all. the rate limiting step is definitely the service and table space. if it was automated or there were larger tables you could definitely eat more (but probably better to order multiple smaller rounds). our server was handling a lot of tables but was very efficient and checked on us when appropriate. he also made sure our water never went dry. buckle up, because we put away 20 plates: steamed veggie dumplings: flavorful filling, chili crunch drizzle was quite spicy. i wish it came with a dipping sauce. kung pao chicken: good flavor, could've been more chicken in the ratio to veggies. not spicy duck spring rolls: tasted good, especially with the sauce drizzled on top, but quite oily taiwanese popcorn chicken: definitely the best savory bite we had. super well seasoned and crunchy braised pork belly: very flavorful, tender, good sauce pairing. one of the best things spare ribs: hard to eat as they are bone in. same sauce as pork belly but not as good of a pairing. overcooked mongolian beef: very good, tender green beans with pickled cabbage: much needed green in the sea of meat. flavor was really nice braised tofu with mushrooms: ok. the tofu texture wasn't my favorite, and the sauce definitely had fish or oyster sauce in it although it's labeled vegan scallion bubble pancake: people say this is a must order, but i thought it was quite bland. the sauce didn't really taste like anything. good vessel for meats veggie lo mein: good reprieve from the protein heavy options. decent taste szechuan popcorn chicken: honestly skip this, i couldn't taste the szechuan peppercorn or spice. slightly greasier than i would like. just get the taiwanese popcorn chicken instead cucumber salad: the sauce was quite sweet but very refreshing sesame ball: not much taste, but very nice texture. we got 3 of these creamy walnut bao: not too sweet, nutty filling, soft bao outside. very yummy, we got 4 of these overall we did some DAMAGE. i would absolutely come back here to try more of the AYCE menu but i will need 5-7 business days of recovery time.

Had a craving for Chinese food after being in the city for a couple of days. The service was wonderful. In terms of the food: 1. Green beans 6/10 - too salty 2. Scallion and egg fried rice 10/10 - taste very homemade 3. Honey ribs 7/10 - tender but boring taste didn't want to keep eating it 4. Salt pepper fried shrimp 7/10 - mid at best, had better, missing jalapeños 5. Hot chili wonton 8/10 - great flavor, some part of the wrapper was dry 6. Soup dumpling 7/10 - low portion but good taste. Usually other Chinese restaurant give 4-5 but they only gave 3. 7. Pork braised bun 9/10 - great flavor, tender pork 8. Cucumber salad 0/10 - absolutely disgusting, too much vinegar. I couldn't even eat it. Very inedible.

AYCE $35 on the weekends! A great opportunity to try dim sum, side dishes, and so much more. Some dishes I recommend are the scallion bubble that comes with an amazing yellow curry sauce. I love the lo mein, pairs well with the dumplings. I recommend the pork and chive and my friends love the soup dumplings. Can be slow service when it is super busy.

The AYCE dim sum on the weekends is the perfect group lunch for only $32pp. The service is as attentive. The AYCE we did starts at 11 and ends at 3 Fri-Sunday. The food was delicious. this place was so delicious. Each thing we got was very flavorful. My personal favorites were the scallion pancakes and the limoncello crispy shrimp. The fried rice with the Mongolian beef was such a good combo. This is the perfect place to go with a hungry appetite and a bunch of friends. You'll be able to try a bunch of their food items that way especially with the tapa style. I recommend this place. Would love to try their regular dinner menu as well

My friends and I came here on a whim and let me just say the food was great. We went for the AYCE brunch for $32 per person and we all walked away so full and happy. My favorites were the Limoncello shrimp and the pork and shrimp wontons, but honestly try everything if possible. The service was pretty good, we were able to always find someone to help clear off our table when necessary, and it's cute on the inside with a bunch of flowers decorating the place. Safe to say I'll be back with stretchier pants.

Oh my god--this place is amazing! We easily found parking around the back of the building, and the staff were incredibly kind and sweet. Our waiter was super chill, and the food came out really fast. We sat on the second floor, which was pretty cool, and they also have a downstairs area and outdoor seating. Such a cute restaurant overall. Now for the food: we ordered several dishes, starting with the scallion pancake, which was excellent. The Mongolian beef was SOOO good. My sister loved the egg drop soup, but my mom and sister said they probably wouldn't order the pork and shrimp dumplings again. I got the lo mein--IT WAS AMAZING--and the portion was huge, so I split it with my sister. No wonder this place was ranked 4th best in the country in 2020. Definitely coming back!

We traveled about 40 minutes to get here. We had reservations (since it was Valentine's Day) and sat down quickly. A little disappointed because we were sat downstairs and I really wanted to see the top but still. They had one waiter for the entire first floor and maybe second. He was super nice though and attentive. The food came out pretty fast as well and all good portions. Everything was tasty, but nothing like super woah factor. Just regular good not as greasy Chinese food. I personally wouldn't travel again to eat this but it was good! I'd recommend giving it a try! Their soup dumplings seem to be super popular we saw a couple devour 4 boxes of it lol

I got carry out so I can't say much about the service or ambiance but that's not important when the food is excellent. We went for the first Signature dish - the Dry Fried Red Pepper Chicken. EXCELLENT. It's very spicy and super flavorful. It comes with a decent amount of chicken, to be expected for a $19 chicken dish. Tip: None of the dishes comes with rice, which is $1 additional and must be ordered separately. We also got the fried rice with shrimp and chicken and it was also very good. Based on these two dishes, I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Street parking can be tough in this part of time so be prepared to have to search for parking.

Still loving Nihao. My friends and I always enjoy dining here. Staff are friendly and food is always so good. They started an All You Can Eat on the weekends with their dim sum and tapas. It's such a great deal and you can try so many items! I've tried the brunch a couple times now and was just back for dinner. This recent experience was great as usual. We ordered the Jianghu Spicy Fried Chicken to start. It was spicy to our palettes and there were plenty of crispy chicken. Then for our mains, we got the Hot Chili Oil Beef Stew and Asparagus Snow Pea Prawn. The beef stew was huge and full of spice with plenty of beef. I really enjoyed the milder flavor of the prawns dish. I also saved room for dessert so I could enjoy the Steamed Black Sesame Egg Yolk Bao. It's sooo delicious. I will keep coming to dine here!

Health: With a blend of traditional Chinese dishes and American fusions, this place has a decent options list to choose from to help one's diet maintain balance. If you have self control? This place is brilliant. Price: It's a decent price for the quality given, and the portions were generous. But, the price wasn't exactly a "everyday outing" level. For the quality, it was good. Experience: Now, full disclosure, there was an emergency there that might have hampered the speed of the orders. The food came quickly, and the servers were quite accommodating with the seating. Even the interior had that Chinese restaurant feel. It was nice. Taste: Now here's where this place excels. The food itself was genuinely delicious. The eggplant lightly breaded and stir fried (not exactly healthy, but delectable). The hotpot was just spicy enough to kick, but still carried through the flavor of the fish. However the standout was the Peking Duck Wraps. Cooked fresh, portioned well, and accompanied by thin flour wraps, it made the meal go from "good" to "wow". This is what real Chinese food looks like and tastes like. All in the middle of Baltimore. I'll eat here again. You should too.

Mapo Tofu - The image shows a white bowl filled with Mapo Tofu, featuring cubed tofu in a dark, spicy sauce garnished with chopped green onions. Above it, there is a square white plate containing fried rice mixed with chopped green onions. The dishes are placed on a gray, textured table surface, suggesting a meal served at a Chinese restaurant.

I'm really disappointed with this establishment. I recently heard about their all you can eat brunch which as a rule I don't love all you can eat, but I wanted to go back to try it out as my friends were really intrigued. First of all I'm not sure what time it exactly starts because on Google it says they don't open till 1130 but on the menu it says they open at 11. Second of all you walk in and the hostess the two Gen Z girls that work there just stare at you and they're very very rude. So we sit down and the server is one that I've had in the past and he's usually OK and throughout the service they kept asking us for our menus back. It's in all you can eat, so how do you expect us to give you our menus back? They also asked if they could take our teapot which were still relatively full. I think they don't have enough menus or teapots, but that is not a patrons responsibility. Of course, with most any, all you can eat there is a seating limit, but they didn't tell you that upfront and it wasn't until we were wrapping up that they said our time was up, which honestly didn't bother me that much but they could've been way more upfront about it. In general, it was really really popular when we went, super busy, but there was an air of hostility and the service was so bad that I never want to go back here and also the food was just average. There were a couple things that were fine like the shrimp and chive dumplings but the hot & sour soup was an off color. Also, as a note, the bathrooms were extremely disgusting this time around and the overall restaurant just felt really dusty.

Tapa Osmanthus Honey Pork Ribs - The image shows several chunks of meat coated in a dark, glossy sauce with small pieces of lemon zest sprinkled on top, served in a white bowl. A metal spoon is placed in the bowl, partially submerged in the sauce. The dish appears to be a savory meat stew or braised dish, likely from Asian cuisine, with a rich, thick sauce.

Haven't been back here in 4 years and wanted to give it a redemption after hearing about the AYCE dim sum and I was quite disappointed once again.. I knew coming in this wouldn't be your traditional dim sum and would have modern twists on classic dishes, but the execution was sub par. Starting off strong were the crystal shrimp dumpling (hargow) and cucumber salad, but we found the pork ribs to be stiff/not tender, scallion pancake to be tough, lemon cello shrimp missing lemon flavor since it was only garnished with rind, soup dumplings missing soup, and sour soup that was way too dark. They also served us green tea that was so over-steeped that our waiter thought it was a different kind of tea! We also were continuously approached for our menus to be taken away when we were clearly still eating and ordering, plus it's AYCE! Definitely won't be returning.

Overall, the food is delicious and the ingredients are high quality. I tried the Chicken & Broccoli and Cumin Chicken Skewers. The brown sauce that normally comes with the chicken and broccoli was different in a very good way. It wasn't greasy or full of msg and tasted cleaner. I ordered through UberEats. The food was well packaged and arrived hot. I highly recommend Peter Chang if you're in the mood for takeout.

Here's what we had: Crystal Shrimp Dumplings - very good Shiitake Mushroom with Bok Choy - very good Pan Seared Chive Shrimp Dumpling - delicious, I thought it needed a sauce and used some Dumpling Sauce that I had around... I thought it was a nice addition Sweet Spicy Sesame Chicken - good, but not what I had in my mind when ordering sesame chicken... it was a bit smoky or something like that... very good, but be aware that you aren't getting your corner Chinese restaurant's sesame chicken Golden Floss Limoncello Shrimp - Absolutely delicious, will order this every time no matter what Stir Fried Prawn Broccoli - very good, saucy, good balance of broccoli to prawn Tofu Egg Drop Soup - delicious and the tofu makes it slightly more filling All in all, a delicious meal, and we will certainly return for future meals. We want to try the Peking Duck, but will probably eat in for that one.

Downtown

Blue Island (Aug 31, 2023, Thursday, ~ 2p.m.)…read more Blue Island is located in the Lexington Market in the heart of Baltimore City. I first went to the Lexington Market pretty early mid-morning on Aug. 30, 2023 before I headed to the B&O Railroad Museum (A MUST-SEE when visiting Baltimore.) and was expecting a food market selling fresh produce, unprocessed foods, confectionaries, flowers etc. I was totally wrong. It is instead a two-story structure carrying many different types of cuisine. Blue Island is located on the second floor. After climbing stairs of many steps right in the middle of the structure, Blue Island is located on the left side towards the back end of the second floor. There are a few tables and chairs set up so you can "dine-in". I was way too early, and the store was not open yet. I decided to come back the next day to try out the food due to my tight schedule that day. If you do some research, some of the other sites claim Blue Island offers Malaysian cuisine. Being born in Singapore, a very close neighboring country of Malaysia, I can tell you that it is most definitely NOT Malaysian cuisine. Their food, however, may have some Malaysian spices incorporated into it, and I taste that in the "spicy" dishes (Not spicy enough for my taste though. Way too Americanized.). The high quality ingredients are also part of the Malaysian heritage. What impressed me most was the pretty large sized shrimp that was part of the ingredients in the fried rice and fried noodles. In my many decades living in this country, I've eaten a lot of what I call "fake" Chinese/Asian cuisine, and I have never encountered shrimp of that size with any of those rice/noodle dishes. What stood out even more was that shrimp was FRESH - a double bonus. As in many places, you can order the combos, but there is a catch. My past experiences with these places is that when you order a 2-item combo, that means either a base rice and/or noodle PLUS 2 entrees. At Blue.Island, the rice or noodle IS COUNTED as one item (No half and half either.) in the Combo. I ended up ordering a 3-item combo with fried rice and two of their spicier entrees. The food was very delicious, and a definite cut above the rest. I also had time, while in line to order the food, to have a quick chat with one of the servers. I discovered that the owner and some of the servers were originally from Hong Kong. The two I spoke with also spoke Cantonese, and I was provided with a little discount off the total price, which was totally unexpected and appreciated. If you decide to eat at this place, please be prepared for a constant line of people doing the same. I was there for about 90 minutes to rest my tired feet after long hours of sight-seeing, and the line never ceased throughout that time. Do yourself a favor and patronize this place. I don't think you will regret that decision. Ah, those large tasty shrimp! For the taste, quality, and value. I rate this place a full 5 stars. Happy Eating !!!!
