This place has an awesome location on the water and it has a good energy, often having live music multiple nights a week. Their food is alright. It's very basic but also not cheap. There's nothing unique or distinct to Nick's. This last time I got their crab cake sandwich which cost market ($30+) and was a middle of the road crab cake sandwich. We had heard so many great things about this place, so we finally decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did! We went on a Friday afternoon, and it was definitely busy, which is always a good sign. Even with the crowd, the service was fast and everyone was so friendly. I also loved that you can choose to sit inside or outside, and they have plenty of seating either way. Of course, I had to order an espresso martini. If you're an espresso martini lover, you already know they're either amazing or disappointing, there's really no in-between. I had mine made with Baileys (just a heads up, it's a small upcharge), and it was so worth it! It was smooth, rich, perfectly balanced, and definitely had a nice kick. One of the better espresso martinis I've had in a while. We ordered the seafood platter to split, and honestly, it was the perfect amount of food for two people. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out hot. Our waitress, Kay, was amazing! She was so sweet, patient, and happy to answer all of our questions about the menu. She recommended the espresso martini and the mac and cheese. She was spot-on about the martini! The mac and cheese was good, but it was a little on the dry side and could've used a little more seasoning. That was probably the only thing we'd change. Overall, we had a really great experience. We've been coming to nicks for crabs for years. Unfortunately this time around we got there too late and they were out of crabs, so we opted for a variety of other dishes. We started with the cream of crab soup- always a banger- I do wish it had a little more crab meat in it though. We also had some salad. We shared a pound of shrimp, some oysters and some mussels. My main entree I got the rockfish- blackened. It came with a creamy lemon sauce that was really good. Honestly my favorite part of the meal. They have live music outside with the bar and big tvs if you are watching any sports. The wait is usually long on the weekends so plan to wait for atleast an hour. They now do valet parking which is annoying and the parking is not ideal. But overall still one of our top choices for seafood. read more

We went recently but had kids, so just did some apps and drinks on the deck. ***no HH outside*** just an fyi My fav drink is their Sagamore Crush! Unbeatable. Wow! Some of the best seafood I've had my entire life, I could eat here every day of the week! I started with seafood gumbo which was delicious and a very generous serving size. I then ordered a half dozen of large crabs and a corn, this is where I really went crazy. The crabs were huge and full of flavor, my server Kala made sure I had everything needed to easily get the meat out of the crabs and I had plenty of space to toss the hollow shells. The crabs were perfectly cooked and seasoned, I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more than a half dozen - they were that good! We came around 7PM in the middle of the week and and our wait was only around 10 minutes even with the place being packed. Perfect happy hour spot with water views- this place is a vibe! Happy hour is at the bar only, but we were lucky to snag a high top table by the outside bar. Draft beer for $5! We arrived shortly before 8pm without a reservation and the gentleman working the parking lot was kind to inform us that we may only get a seat at the bar, which was fine. The live band was good but we are old and thus were happy not to be seated so close that we had to shout to hear each other. They had signs posted saying they were out of steamed crabs, so it may be good to call before going there if that's what you're aiming for. We ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer, crab dip, and chicken Chesapeake sandwich. All three were very good. My only critique was that there was a bit too much salt on top of the crab dip. We came here on a Sunday around 6 p.m., and it was packed with the summer crowd. Despite how busy it was, the atmosphere was lively and fun. There was a live band playing, and it's right next to the pier, which made it a great place to walk around before or after dinner. The steamed crabs were absolutely delicious. We ordered 12 large crabs for $140, which seemed expensive, although I later heard that's about the going rate this time of year. Being from Baltimore, I love crabs and crab cakes, and while Florida is great, it just does not compare when it comes to Maryland crabs. Be prepared to pay, but honestly I expected that. From what I could tell, it seems like they get their shipment in the morning and it's kind of first come, first serve. If you really want crabs come at lunch. They ran out by time we left around 2pm. After the crabs, I got a single crab cake and it was amazing. My daughter got the fried shrimp and enjoyed that too. There's just something about sitting in Baltimore with an ice cold beer and eating crabs. Love the location and the vibe along the waterfront here in Maryland. Perfect place for soup and salad on a hot day. They didn't get a shipment of blue crab in today so that was a bummer and I hear there's a shortage currently, but the crab chowder was amazingly creamy and delicious and I found it to be perfectly seasoned. Wow so glad I paired it with the poached pear salad and added a crab cake. This salad was so refreshing and it had dressing in every bite. By far the best meal I have had in a while. The shaded patios fans were on so the 91 degree temperature was tolerable, the service was slow, server seemed uninterested in work and it seemed like a new back of house staff was in training for the summer season. We ended up here on a Saturday around 12:30-1 pm after our brunch reservations elsewhere weren't honored, and honestly, this worked out way better. There were four of us, and when we arrived there was a line to get in. We were quoted about a 45-minute wait, but since we noticed open seating at the raw bar, we grabbed spots there instead. We probably would've stayed there the whole time if we hadn't eventually been moved to a table by the window overlooking the docks, which was worth it. All in, we waited closer to 20 minutes, and considering how busy they were, that felt reasonable. For food, I ordered the Seafood Platter ($42) with the fried crab cake, scallops, mahi-mahi, shrimp, Chesapeake fries, and mac & cheese. Everything on the plate was done right. The fried crab cake had a lot of lump meat and great flavor. The scallops were juicy and a good size. The fish and shrimp were crispy on the outside and still juicy inside. I also got the buffalo fried chicken wings, which were solid. My wife and friends ordered a dozen large crabs, and those were the real standout. They were seasoned extremely well -- so much so that we were joking with the staff about whether the crabs had been injected with seasoning because the flavor was all the way through the meat. Everyone at the table was raving about them. I had a Maryland Mule with Sagamore rye. It was fine -- nothing bad, just your average bar mule. I tend to find bar drinks a little sweet and light on the alcohol, and this one was pretty much par for the course. The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and is split into different areas, which can be a little confusing if it's your first time there. Once you're seated though, everything flows fine. There's plenty of natural light, the place was clean, and for a busy crab house, it was in good shape. Noise level was moderate, even with a lot of big parties. The staff was friendly. Our server was really good overall -- he disappeared briefly at one point, but he came back and made up for it by the end, so no real complaints there. Price-wise, I felt it was worth it, especially for the seafood and the crabs. I'd order the same meal again without hesitation. Would I come back? I can see why Nicks is considered one of the best seafood places in Baltimore. We expected a long wait - they told us 45 minutes but only ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes. We got a nice seat inside - the live band was particularly enjoyable. Our waitress Jules was very friendly and attentive! We both got drinks - the mule and the Hugo spritz, both of which were good! I started with the half n half soup. My partner had the Maryland crab soup and I definitely think the half n half is a better choice - that creaminess enhances the flavor so much! We ordered the cold seafood platter - it was market price which was $95 for us. It was totally worth the price. You get oysters, clams, shrimp, snow crab, Maryland crab, lump crab, and some cucumbers and onions. It was so fresh and good. I really liked the sauce options. Thought they would be busier and expected a wait but we were seated upon arrival (Holiday weekend?)-they don't accept reservations and all from the party need to arrive to be seated. Previous visit was in the summer and sat on the second level in their open air event area-too cold for that in late November. Big space with a large bar area and plenty of outdoor seating-loud and lively atmosphere. We started with a couple of appetizers-Boom Boom shrimp and Flash fried Calamari-both were tasty and Nick's version of these favorites didn't disappoint. For main, most got the seafood platter (broiled) with a variety of sides and also ordered Scampi with Shrimp. Platters were enjoyed mostly-the Mahi Mahi was overcooked unfortunately. Shrimp Scampi was tasty although a bit too lemony. From the sides, Spinach, Asparagus stood out, Mac and cheese was ok. Didn't have room for dessert although the list looked enticing. Stopped by Nick's Fish House a few weeks ago with some friends on a Monday night. We were seated initially at a small picnic table which seemed like it could probably fit 2-3 people max so we asked to move since we were a party of 4. Our server was kind enough to accommodate the switch and then took our drink/app orders. We ordered brussels and fries to start with a side of corn to come out with our two dozen steamed crabs. We also each got crushes. The corn was the first thing to come out followed by the crushes and apps. The corn eventually got cold sitting there since we waited to eat it with our crabs. The brussels had a good flavor though and the fries were devoured quickly. They only had small crabs on this particular night (note to self to avoid Mondays here as I believe their crab shipments come later in the week), but we were pleasantly surprised with how meaty and dense they were. They were a little tricky to pick but had great flavor. We ordered another half dozen later on but noticed the first batch tasted better than the second. Service was a bit slow at times with our server forgetting to bring basic things like napkins, our second round of drinks, more butter and vinegar, etc. Overall, I'd definitely return and maybe just come on a different night or call ahead to avoid the lack of large crabs. read more

My bf and I came to Nick's to have an anniversary meal. We arrived and it was quite busy, but we were able to get a parking spot. We waited in a short line to give our name to the hostess. They text when the table is ready. We went over to the bar area to grab a drink while we were waiting, expecting it to be a longer wait for how busy it was, but our table was ready quickly so we just took our beers inside. The outdoor seating looked lovely also but a bit too warm outside for my preference; I'd definitely sit out there on a cooler day! Our server was Rylie and she was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Our table was near a window so we enjoyed looking outside at the water. My bf chose fried crab cake with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. I chose the seafood platter, broiled with mac and cheese and their Chesapeake old bay rice. The meals came out after a short wait. My crab cake was amazing. Definitely one of the best I've had. I also loved the scallops. The shrimp and mahi mahi were well prepared, but I felt they were a bit under seasoned for my preference. The rice was really good. The mac was creamy and the pasta a perfect consistency; again would have liked a bit more seasoning. My bf enjoyed his crab cake and the tastes of food I gave him from my platter. I tasted his mashed potatoes which were also good. Portions were generous; I had leftovers to bring home that I look forward to enjoying. Overall, this is a great spot and I'm glad I have gotten to many recommendations for it from locals.
