Award Winning Jumbo Lump Crabcake
Kimberly K.

Quick service, but standing tables and counters only. The crab cake was full of crab, very little filling and not dry at all! The fries were a bit plain, but I did enjoy the mac and cheese. Overall, the food was good, but it was a bit pricey.

Being from LA, a few of my friends from the DMV were so serious about Faidley's Crab Cakes that they'd have them flown in for special occasions. Had my first taste about 15 years ago and hadn't had them since. Finally making it to the legendary Lexington Market to try them again was a genuinely special moment. The crab cake was incredible, fresh and loaded with lump crab meat the whole way through. The crab soup was great too. But it was the whole experience, the food, the history, the vibe of Lexington Market, that really made it.

The best crab cake in Baltimore. Bar none. Mac and cheese was well seasoned and delicious. I also enjoyed the deviled eggs. But seriously, get the crab cake, maybe two. They're perfect.

Finally got up Crab spot 3 while on the crab crawl and it wasn't bad. I'd say the Crabcake is 2nd on the list only because of the temperature and shell pieces. Service was great. The lady who took our order explained items and gave great recommendations. The ambiance was cool. Definitely keep in mind they have table tops and no chairs. There is seating outside on the patio. The market is very unique and I would come back and try the blue crab and other seafood.

This stop during my trip to Baltimore was well worth it. Went for the gold and ordered the Jumbo crab cake platter. Had G&M a few days ago which I thoroughly enjoyed, but this one may be my new favorite so far. I really wanted to try the raw oysters as well but I was too full for it, I may go back and try them before heading back home. I watched plenty of YouTube videos on Faidley's and I must say it was well worth the hype. The ladies working here were so sweet and helpful, they certainly enhanced the experience.

The soft shell crab sandwich hit the spot! I was craving seafood and I was surprised by the options. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich platter and chose pickled cucumbers and Mac & Cheese. The staff were patient and very kind since I have my kids with me. I felt very welcomed by the friendly Staff. The Natty Bo was prefer pairing with the sandwich. I love the atmosphere as it felt in I was stepping into history here! I loved all the photos and memorabilia. There is also a counter to order crabs to go as well!

Who was the richest woman here for lunch? Crab cake was given to me within five minutes. Along with this food service was quick effortless. Lexington market is historically a very eventful place.

Wow, the seafood here is absolutely incredible! In a small mall like building with lots of other restaurants. Tried the crabcake, catfish, shrimp, and fries. The crabcake was LEGIT and probably the best I've had in my life. That catfish was also worth the try and was very surprised by the taste of it, man, this place is great!! Whenever I'm back in Baltimore I'll be going back here cus wow!! The reason for the 4 stars was the customer service, I didn't like that there was a cashier that was very rude. I understand it's busy but also important to make customers feel good

Crabcake platter (with a side of Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens)

I love the crabcakes from here! They were very moist, well seasoned, and crispy on the outside. It had a good amount of crab meat as opposed to just filling. For the sides I got the collard greens and the mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was OK. I don't think I would get it again - it was kind of mushy and lacked any depth of flavor. The collard greens were pretty good although they lacked a bit of acidity. I would like to try the coleslaw next time. The service was pretty fast. They have an assortment of sauces on the side that you can bring to your table, including ketchup, hot sauce, and cocktail sauce. They have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options as well. They have high top tables indoors, but nowhere to sit and eat. Faidley's is located in Lexington market so you have to rely on either street parking or their garage.

Why this place only has a 4 rating is a mystery. However, I admit I haven't tried but 1 thing from them. I come for and only order the crab cakes. I wish I had room in my tummy for the oysters on the half shell too but I don't. so I stick with my FAV-the crab cakes. If these aren't the best crab cakes in the USA, please tell me where this other place is so I can go there too. You order from the counter, pay, and get a ticket # for your food. Your crab cake come off the line directly to you. You eat standing up at one of their bars with condiment on the bar. It's been done that way for years, traditional now. Part of the Faidley's seafood experience. Aferall, you're in a food market. If eating in a market, standing up ain't your thing go eat 2nd rate crab cakes in a sit down restaurant elsewhere. I love the entire experience and the ambiance. There is paid tiered parking nearby. I live closer to DC than here. I stope here anytime I am in a 20 mile radius to B'more.

Faidley's is a good option for crab cakes on this side of town. Newly opened after a remodel last summer, the newly renovated space hosts a social and dining atmosphere with dedicated seating for Faidley's customers. You can find all of your fish, shellfish, and oysters and clams, and other seafood complements here. The crab cakes were good and certainly a great value compared to competitors in Baltimore, however I would not consider them the best. The customer service was good. The ordering process is also easy as the menu items are very easy to understand. Note: many of their seafood items, like crab cakes, will be sold at market price, so anticipate fluctuating prices through the season. You can also purchase ready-to-broil crab cakes and other seafood and sides that are sitting on ice. Overall, this is a very good experience and certainly one to try for seafood at Lexington Market.

Amazing crab cake. Super tasty sides. The Lexington Market is such a happening place, and I'm so glad I got to try the crab cake platter at Faidley's seafood. They've got beers on tap and good food. I wish they had more seating area though. My friends and I hung out at the high tables while eating and chatting. But the seating arrangements aren't the most comfortable to stay there long.

This local favorite in Lexington Market provides some of the best seafood around at prices that are not bank-breaking. And the ambiance in the Market provides a cool backdrop as a bonus. We tried their signature Crab Cakes, which were excellent. We also had one of my favorites, the Fried Calamari, which was also quite tasty. Don't forget about the sides as they serve up some good options with those as well. I particularly enjoyed the Carrot Salad. The service was a little abrupt and dismissive, but efficient at the same time. And I can live with that tradeoff, though that's also the difference between four and five stars to me. If you're in the area and like Seafood, give this place a try for lunch. While you're in the Market, you can grab a good coffee and satisfying dessert as well.

Faidley's Seafood Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Faidley's Seafood

16 dollars for a small crab cake? Worth it?

I found cheaper crab cakes in Baltimore but they contain fillers, Faidley's crab cakes do not have any, the area and the market itself are very sketchy though

How does this place compare to Koco's for crab cake?

I believe that the Faidley version is more seasoned than the Koco version. The Koco version is just the crab meat. Both crab cakes contain no filler and if I only had one choice, I'd eat the Faidley version.

How many ounces is their jumbo lump crab cake?

6.5 oz

Are they open on Memorial day?

yes!

Was looking for some affordable local flavors. This was a cool spot…read more AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking for the most part, typical for this part of town. Seating: Indoor seating with room for about 20 people inside the market. Vibes: You're right in the heart of Old Town / Fells Point -- the touristy but charming part of Baltimore. I dig the vintage brick roads, the historic feel, and the mix of locals and visitors passing through. The space sits inside a lively market (1640 Aliceanna St) with that true Baltimore seafood vibe -- casual, approachable, and full of movement. It's not fine dining; it's flavor-first, no-nonsense, and welcoming. Great for a quick grab-and-go or to sit down for a casual meal. FOOD/DRINKS: Crab Soup (A-Ok) Simple but hearty. It reminded me of a tomato-based soup with crab mixed in -- nothing too fancy, but warm and satisfying. I appreciated the richness and good amount of crab meat. I'm more of a clam chowder fan, so next time I might go that route, but this was still solid. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff clearly know what they're doing and keep things moving without losing that personal touch. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, solid flavors, and a classic Baltimore seafood feel. Sal and Son's Seafood isn't flashy, but it's genuine -- a go-to for a comforting bowl and a true local experience. I'll be back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area. TIPS: * Check what's on special -- they rotate and have plenty of combo options.

It's probably because one meal was simple (crab cake sandwich, fries), and the other may have taken longer to cook to order (shrimp and chicken jambalaya). Otherwise, we were absolutely satisfied with the food. The crab cake sandwich was on point. The creamy crab soup was flavorful, creamy, and worth every bite. The shrimp and chicken jambalaya was also executed well. Also, I highly recommend trying the fresh fruit drinks. We got watermelon and pineapple, and "refreshing" doesn't begin to describe how good they were. The service was straightforward and to the point, which works for me. The establishment is located inside of a market. We went on a Sunday, so this was one of the few eateries open. I'm imagining that it is probably more jumping on other days. If I'm in Baltimore again, I'll definitely consider visiting again and exploring more of the menu.

I went to the market for some fresh baked bread and bagels. While I was there, I was persuaded to purchase a vegan sandwich and some organic vegetables. I had to stop myself because there were quite a bit of other things that caught my eye too. The market is set up right below the highway and was very easy to get to. There is a public parking lot right next to it as well as lots of street parking. I found the Instagram page for the market and the website to be very helpful and informative with information like times, vendors and explanations on how to arrive. The inside had multiple tables with white tablecloths giving it a lovely ambiance. The service was absolutely amazing. Very friendly servers happy to make recommendations and checked on us frequently. My water glass was refilled many times as was my bf's tea. My bf chose the fried seafood platter which had scallops, shrimp, a crab cake, fish, and clams, and chose a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I chose the salmon imperial which was salmon with crab meat, shrimp, and scallops on the top with a yummy lemon sauce. I ordered a side of fettuccine Alfredo and mixed veggies. The portions here are HUGE. My fettuccine side alone would have been a full meal. My bf loved all of his fried seafood and I enjoyed the tastes I had of it. I loved my salmon imperial. The topping was delicious and the salmon had nice, crisp edges, and a beautifully flaky center. The Alfredo could have used a tad more salt and parm for my personal preference, but the sauce was creamy without being overly rich, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The mixed veggies were the least seasoned; I added some lemon juice, salt, and pepper to those. The garlic mashed potatoes were fantastic. Perfectly creamy and flavorful. Overall, the amazing service, lovely setting, and the seafoods that were the stars of the show were wonderful, so I would highly recommend this spot! So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices
