    Charbroiled Oysters
    Cortney S.

Visited this place a while back. The place is nice it's just a little dark in there. I had the charbroiled oysters, they were decent it could've used a little more flavor and less cheese. The gumbo is a cup was pretty good as well but the hot sauce over powered it a little bit. I would give it a try again just to see. It might've been just that day.

First review of 2025 and well deserved to be #1. I have been to Nola twice in the past few months and have had a fun dining experience. If you're in the mood for R&B music while eating and then a DJ after (on the weekends), keep reading lol. My first time I came here was on a Saturday evening. There is a parking garage around the corner for about $10-15. Reservation was for 7pm and we sat downstairs not too far from the host stand. A DJ was setting up for 9-1 so glad I was able to sit and enjoy before the turn up started. My friend and I started with the chargrilled oysters that came with this toasted butter French bread that is to die for. Warm & buttery yum! I then ordered the Mardi Gras Mambo shrimp and my friend had the bowl of gumbo which both came with the same French bread so be aware of carb overload but it's sooo worth it. We were full from drinks and appetizers. On my second visit, my friend and I sat upstairs because downstairs was packed during the holidays. Upstairs had less people but it was early and eventually all the seats began to fill up. The only downside about being upstairs is that you have to go quite a distance to get to the bathrooms downstairs. The music was bumpin louder, no DJ yet, but I didn't mind because it was R&B tunes I'm familiar with. For drinks on the second visit, I stuck with champagne but on the 1st visit, I had a mixed drink and all I remember is that they give you a ton of ice up to the brim. The meals this time were the crawfish bread as an appetizer which is really good but it could have been cooked a little longer to melt the cheese. My main entree was the stuffed salmon which was seasoned very well. The blend of cajun rice and mixed veggies was perfect. My friend had the cajun catfish entree that came with the same sides. By the time we were done dinner, it was a whole party vibe going on downstairs. I wanted to stay but my 40yr old+ feet in heels said to go lol. I'll be returning sooner then later to try out more on the menu and the manager I met on my 2nd visit was wonderful. Can't remember her name but she is a sommelier and gave great recommendations. Thank you NOLA team for bringing a taste of New Orleans to Baltimore!

My husband & I went on a Sunday to watch the games! The atmosphere is perfect for Sunday football, if you're not into football I wouldn't suggest going, unless you planned to go before any of the games started. We got there at a good time & got a table but it did start to get packed once the game started. Also be mindful of parking going to fed hill, it's a struggle especially if there's a home game. I got the shrimp po boy, which was dry, the shrimp was a good size but something was missing. My husband got the catfish & grits, he said it was good but he also ended up getting wings to help fill up. The mimosa deal is worth, they had BOGO so two bottles of champagne for the price of 1 & then juices (pineapple, orange, & cranberry). I would go back but not getting the po boy again. Service was decent for atmosphere.

So I stopped in Nola's for brunch one day after hearing so many good things about it & I must say I wasn't disappointed. Let's start off with the bad the parking of course down Federal Hill is hell to say the least. But after a few circles around the block I found a parking spot. Walked in to a seat which was a surprise cause it was a bit crowded but the hostess was able to get me seated instantly. I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was very delicious the only issue I had was the bread was horrible soon as I bit into it crumbled everywhere I ended up having to eat it with my knife & fork. But besides that unfortunately situation overall the food & restaurant was nice. They had a DJ & live crowd which made the visit entertaining so this is definitely somewhere I can return to

    étouffée and charbroiled oysters

I had a great experience here. The place is a vibe -- great music, food, and service. I had the étouffée and charbroiled oysters for happy hour, and both were good. The drinks were hitting too. They do add gratuity, but there's a sign and the server let us know upfront, which I appreciated. I'd definitely recommend.

I sat at the bar & my bartender/server Ciarra was very very nice. She made the experience very pleasant. She was very patient with me being indecisive and very kind. I ordered the seafood platter & everything was fresh, hot & tasty. It very good place to visit while in Baltimore.

We stopped in to have a drink and discovered there's a DJ for Sunday brunch from 12pm-5pm. We got there right around 5pm so we will have to return for the brunch experience. In the meantime, we took advantage of the happy hour special they had just for that Sunday for the Love Island watch party airing later on that evening. They are known for their cajun butter wings so we ordered those, a drink, and enjoyed the music. Unfortunately, that's the only flavor wings they have which is different. The wings came out hot and were absolutely delicious! Our server was great and we enjoyed the vibe. We will definitely return:)

Shannon and Tye held it down, from the refreshing happy hour drinks to the exponential energy exuded. You feel like family as soon as you hit the door. Everything about my experience exuded southern hospitality. The po boy was enough to slap someone's great grandmother. From the music food, drinks and overall atmosphere, this is definitely a hidden gem.

This place is quite confusing. It perfectly captures the vibe of Bourbon Street, and the food is excellent. However, the service is very slow. I believe they would do much better if they could improve their service. The beignets were different from the ones I usually get in New Orleans; these were tougher, but I still enjoyed them, especially with the chocolate sauce.

While on an impromptu staycay, it was time for brunch before heading down 95S! We wanted somewhere near our hotel and when I saw the name "Nola", my mouth started to water for charbroiled oysters! After checking out the brunch menu online, I was a little disappointed that oysters weren't on it but hey, I'm somewhat of a risk taker so she was all in. Let's take a shot! Lol Once we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that they also offered their full menu during brunch so already, they were WINNING! So without further ado, let's see if their charbroiled oysters lived up to the restaurant's name! Let me tell you, they certainly did! I'm glad she's not an oyster lover like me so she only had one. I was low key happy as hell because those things were heavenly and I got to eat 5 without feeling guilty.. Lol I went for the fried seafood platter and she being a chicken and waffle connoisseur, she chose that after our attentive server highly recommended it. My meal was great while the chicken part fell a little short on flavor but the waffle part was perfect. She'll get the shrimp and grits next time while I'll probably do a complete redo because mine was sooo good! :) Nola in a word is charming. Small but big enough! B'more gets a bad rap for being a big bad city. I love the Federal Hill community and Nola and its employees were awesome and we'll definitely return.. This time it'll be later in the day so we can try their NOLA inspired drinks.. CAN'T WAIT!

Located on the top level of Crossbar Biergarten, The Wurst is a true hidden gem. You would never know it was there unless someone told you. The entrance is literally a walk-in freezer door just to the left of the stairs on the second floor, which adds to the fun speakeasy feel. We stopped in for pregame drinks before a nearby Yelp Elite event, and it did not disappoint. We were the only ones in the bar, and our bartender was fantastic, quick, friendly, and clearly knew his craft. I ordered a Paper Plane, a whiskey based cocktail with Aperol, lemon, and Amaro Nonino. It was perfectly balanced and the ideal drink to have after work. My fiancée ordered the Pornstar Martini, which she became very familiar with during a recent trip to Paris. The Wurst's version was a bit unorthodox since they serve the champagne on the side instead of as a floater on top. Not a negative, just different, and more of a deconstructed approach that some might treat like a chaser. Overall, The Wurst is a really cool concept bar that feels unlike anything else in Federal Hill. Between the hidden entrance, relaxed atmosphere, and quality drinks, it is definitely worth checking out if you enjoy creative cocktails and a good story to go with them.

Given my experience with DC and other parts of MD, I was determined to contact them ahead of time and make sure I would have a spot for brunch. But after some contact on IG, they said it's just walk-ins and I would most likely get a table with no effort or wait. I was concerned... but they were right! So we got settled immediately and started ordering. Our gracious server asked for drinks, which have a bottomless option during brunch. We could pick from mimosas, crushes, sangria and bloody marys. I tried everything but the bloody marys, and while they were good, whew there was a lot of ice in the mimosa... I'm not used to ice there, so it threw me off but it was still good! The REAL highlight was the food... the item I got changed my life: Crab. Cake. Eggrolls. They came with this amazing sweet chili sauce and were so filling and delicious! I also got chicken & waffle sliders to go that had a nice kick and the waffle texture was great! My cousin enjoyed his food as well. Also, shout out to the bagel wall that's on the way to the bathroom. It had great options and all the fixings! If I wasn't full I would've gotten one myself. I will return here for brunch.

They offered a variety of items: deviled eggs, scrambled eggs, chicken and waffles, beef and chorizo quesadillas, sausage, home fries, and French toast. They advertised fruit salad on the menu but they didn't have it out on the day we went. For starters, the food was lukewarm. Everything could have tasted so much better if it was warm. Even when they would refill the pans, everything was still not warm enough. The restaurant was not packed but they were slow to refill for the parties that were there. When we tried to go back for a second plate, most of the items weren't replenished and the line was getting longer. It was so bad that one group asked to pay for their drinks and leave because they weren't able to get any food. My option of each item: Deviled eggs- yolk mixture was on the drier side and bland Scrambled eggs- they were ok. Just needed to be warm Chicken and waffles- it was giving "chicken tender on eggo waffle" chicken was better than the bland waffle. It also didn't help that the syrup they had was cold and thick. It made the waffle (and French toast) colder and hard to swallow. French toast- the first batch was (with the exception of being cold) perfectly cooked and dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar. The refill batches were so burnt and hard to chew and they didn't bother putting powdered sugar on them. Again, the cold syrup didn't help. Beef and chorizo quesadillas- they may have been a crowd favorite because getting a second serving was hard because they kept going quickly and took a while to replenish. They just needed to be warmer and served with sour cream. Home fries- great with the peppers and onions. Just need to be warmer. Sausage- my least favorite thing because it didn't taste like Sausage. It was very dry. Sadly, the food was a epic fail. This may be a great place for cocktails because the bartender mixed our margaritas perfectly. They had a Build Your Own Margarita menu with many different flavor options. I opted for the watermelon margarita with a Tajin rim. Delicious! My friend had a pineapple mango margarita with sugar rim and he was impressed also. The drinks earned them an extra star because otherwise, I think the food and the slow refilling of the buffet earned it 2 stars.

Got there super early because I was already in the area, and my wife and I decided to have an old fashioned and an espresso martini at the bar while we waited and they were excellent. The ambiance was upscale but still managed to be relaxed and comfortable. We had a lovely dinner, the waiter was busy but was still attentive and patient. Our whole experience was awesome, so we were already going back in the future. Yesterday I realized a mistake on my bank account from the bar charge, so I called around 6 pm and spoke to the same gentlemen as before. He got all my info and promised he'd call back in 5 minutes. I didn't really expect 5 minutes because I know how crazy the dinner rush would be at an Italian restaurant with a Wednesday wine special. Not even 3 minutes later he called back, and explained what happened, fixed it and I got a follow up text immediately letting us know the refund was already in process. Now, I've been in the service industry and I was a bartender, so I understand that I'm going to be a little biased here but from beginning to end Benny's went above and beyond. They clearly appreciate their customers and love their work, it shows.
