The Wurst Speakeasy is one of those hidden gems that instantly makes you feel like you've discovered something special. From the secret entrance to the moody lighting and curated cocktails -- the whole vibe is top-tier. I tried one of their signature smoky bubble drinks, and it was a full experience -- visually stunning and smooth to sip. The staff was friendly, the music was classy, and every detail felt intentional.
One of my favorite speakeasies in Baltimore. The Wurst is truly a hidden gem . . . literally. Tucked away above Slush Garden in Federal Hill, you enter through what looks like an industrial refrigerator door, which instantly sets the tone for the experience. This place consistently delivers on atmosphere, service, and drinks. I came here recently when I really needed a pick-me-up, and The Wurst delivered exactly that. The vibe is warm, intimate, and just quirky enough to be fun without trying too hard. A good friend of mine told me that if Will was bartending, we'd have an amazing time and he was 100% CORRECT. It didn't start that way at first, but as the evening went on, we quickly hit a groove. Will clearly takes his craft seriously. As we asked questions about ingredients and techniques, he was super knowledgeable and engaging. Watching him work behind the bar was honestly part of the fun. I ordered the Pineapple Mezcal Sour (pineapple, mezcal, agave, and fresh mint), and it was everything I love in a drink. Refreshing, smoky, and just the right amount of sweetness. I kept muddling the mint to savor every last bit. My friend had the New York Sour, which featured whiskey, lemon, simple syrup, red wine float, and egg white foam which was beautifully balanced and visually stunning. There was something extra on top that added a nice touch, though I couldn't quite place what it was. Towards the end of the night I was curious about a couple different ingredients I saw behind the bar and Will was more than generous to make me up a special concoction and when we tried to peek to see exactly what he was using, he definitely hid it from us lol. Make sure to check out the updated menu (see my pics!). Whether you're into mixology or just want a solid, creative cocktail in a cool setting, The Wurst never disappoints. I'll definitely be back.
I finally got a chance to check out The Wurst and was pleased with the experience. The bartender greeted us immediately and was attentive. The cocktail menu is simple but thethey can prepare most drinks you want. I enjoyed the cozy, dim but not overly dark interior and the music was just the right volume and vibe to encourage conversation. The only con is that I wish the barstools were more comfortable because the place invites you to stay a while. I'll definitely return. 8/10
Baltimore needs more speakeasies and I am so happy to see The Wurst doing so well! The speakeasy entrance is so cool and fun. There is a decent amount of seating and standing room for a small speakeasy. The bartenders are so kind and chill even when they're slinging so many drinks in a row! I love the ambiance as it is perfect for a date night or a girls night.

Speakeasy yes pleasy! Me and my boy tried out the famous wurst bar secretly located at the crossbar der Biergarten. I had their famous espresso martinet and It was pretty good. For some reason It was a bit sour but It was blended well. It is definitely up on my list as one of espresso martinis I've had in Baltimore. The vibe is chill as there's not enough space for large parties but that's not the intention. It's supposed to be intimate that's the purpose of a speakeasy.
This is such a classy yet cute place to visit. The music is perfectly curated for intimate conversations and delicious cocktails. The bartender was friendly and quick with the drink order. It is a tight space though, so be prepared to stand and sip--but there's railings along the back just for that!! The drinks themselves were phenomenal. Excellent hole-in-the-wall experience.
This place was a treat. When I say this was the best old fashion I've ever had I am not exaggerating. The bartender showed these drinks love! I will be going back. Thank you for a great but different experience.

We enjoyed all of the cocktails we tried! Unique drinks- including eggwhite toppings and smoke bubbles! Bartenders were really great too. They were friendly and paid attention to detail. It's a speakeasy so its inside of what looks like a freezer inside crossbar. Its dark in there so take that into consideration. Good vibes, would return. Love the pornstar martini! read more

TLDR: Hidden speakeasy vibes, great cocktails, and an awesome spot to unwind before a night out in Federal Hill. Located on the top level of Crossbar Biergarten, The Wurst is a true hidden gem. You would never know it was there unless someone told you. The entrance is literally a walk-in freezer door just to the left of the stairs on the second floor, which adds to the fun speakeasy feel. We stopped in for pregame drinks before a nearby Yelp Elite event, and it did not disappoint. We were the only ones in the bar, and our bartender was fantastic, quick, friendly, and clearly knew his craft. I ordered a Paper Plane, a whiskey based cocktail with Aperol, lemon, and Amaro Nonino. It was perfectly balanced and the ideal drink to have after work. My fiancée ordered the Pornstar Martini, which she became very familiar with during a recent trip to Paris. The Wurst's version was a bit unorthodox since they serve the champagne on the side instead of as a floater on top. Not a negative, just different, and more of a deconstructed approach that some might treat like a chaser. Overall, The Wurst is a really cool concept bar that feels unlike anything else in Federal Hill. Between the hidden entrance, relaxed atmosphere, and quality drinks, it is definitely worth checking out if you enjoy creative cocktails and a good story to go with them. read more

My 1st Speakeasy & it was Awesome. It is small and quaint but, very dark and intimate. The location is hidden inside the Crossbar up the stairs on the 2nd floor behind a large refrigerator door. The bartenders were absolutely fantastic 10/10. They were attentive and they can make any drink. The drinks were all very crafted and on point. Food can be ordered at the restaurant downstairs. Street Parking is a challenge based on the area being full with multiple bars and restaurants to choose between. Absolutely, I will return read more

Service is amazing and friendly! You can just chat with the bartenders for hours! The ambiance is amazing for conversations! And the drinks are amazing. Recommend the espresso martinis or just ask the bartender to make you a drink based of your vibe! read more
It took me a minute to find this speakeasy. You need to enter Crossbar and then head to the second floor. The entrance to The Wurst is a refrigerator door. The ambiance is awesome! Definitely one of my favorite speakeasy's that I have been to. The cocktails are delicious! And not too overpriced. Bar tenders are nice and friendly. Not a lot of food options, so eat ahead of time. read more
A super cute speakeasy with amazing drinks. We went on a Friday night at 5 PM before dinner, so it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to sit at the bar and were served right away. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed the pornstar drink--it was very refreshing, not overly sweet, and came with a side of champagne. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm excited to return. I can't believe it took me two years to visit this place! read more
Really cool speakeasy in a bar, second floor to the left behind freezer door. It's very small inside offering a bar and 2 bench seats with tables but the music was great!!!! Has a nice vibe and drinks were bomb and affordable. I will go back! read more

I love a good speakeasy and since this one is close, I grabbed a friend and headed over for a drink. It's located on the second floor of Crossbar behind a freezer door. That took a couple minutes to figure out but once inside, it made sense. It's tight, like a lot of speakeasies, with limited bar and side seating. Looks like it may hold about 25 people comfortably. When we walked in, it was pretty full but we found seats easily. The seats we found were in the direct path of the cold air conditioner but I could see how helpful that would be if it was really packed. The bartenders were all cool and had good energy. The drinks we got (a mezcal margarita, the horchata colada and a champagne drink) were cool but I was kinda expecting more from the drink menu. I was seeking different ingredients and more chemistry but it was fine. When using the restroom, I was reminded that there was a loud beer bar downstairs after seeing all the vomit on the floor. Not the "wurst" experience, just was hoping for something a bit more upscale. read more
This is NOT a speakeasy, so please don't be fooled! This is simply a bar upstairs of Crossbar. We visited on a Saturday and it was overwhelmingly crowded. Once you go upstairs, you go left to the fridge door, it was really hard to get through and get a spot at the bar. It was hot and the bartenders kept yelling it was too hot, it was not the appropriate vibes for a speakeasy. Service was rather really slow and given the back order of drinks, we decided to leave. I had great hope for this place because it was recommended well by friends years ago but this wasn't matching those recommendations! read more

Honestly should be in the running for best speakeasy in America lol Located in college town on Baltimore, service is great, drinkers are even better. They even have a BOGO espresso martini deal on Sundays. The jalapeño margarita was also Shout out to Martin and Danny !! They held the bar down despite the fluctuating crowds read more
One of the best speakeasy I've ever been to!!! It's small and intimate. Danny "the Wurst bartender" was an entire vibe... he made the experience GREAT and unforgettable! He explained the drinks thorough and they were tasty! So many drinks with cool presentations. I went when it wasn't crowded, me and Danny had great conversation and lots of laughs! The Wurst is a tiny hidden gem on Cross Street, without the blackout frat vibe of some of the nearby spots. It's hidden on the second floor of the Cross Bar, behind a fake freezer door, but once you walk in it has sincere speakeasy vibes. It's dark, tiny, intimate, and covered in wooden paneling, and the bartenders were both great at the art of the cocktail and at conversation. They even did impromptu karaoke at one point. The atmosphere encourages making friends with your neighbors, and was incredibly fun. Also, the cocktails were divine. A gimlet and champagne martini were excellent and they have an espresso soda for non-drinkers. Please visit this place so it stays in business and I can go back. read more
Love The Wurst bar!! They make amazing cocktails- truly some of the best in the city! They have a variety of classics, and their champagne cocktail is always fun because it comes with a cloud bubble. This bar is upstairs inside Crossbar in fed hill and you enter through what appears to be a freezer door. Once inside there's a long bar and some lounge seating for bigger groups. This is a great casual speakeasy bar that would be fun for a date or to spend time with friends. The bartenders here are also very friendly and helpful! read more
