TLDR: Hidden speakeasy vibes, great cocktails, and an awesome spot to unwind before a night out in Federal Hill. Located on the top level of Crossbar Biergarten, The Wurst is a true hidden gem. You would never know it was there unless someone told you. The entrance is literally a walk-in freezer door just to the left of the stairs on the second floor, which adds to the fun speakeasy feel. We stopped in for pregame drinks before a nearby Yelp Elite event, and it did not disappoint. We were the only ones in the bar, and our bartender was fantastic, quick, friendly, and clearly knew his craft. I ordered a Paper Plane, a whiskey based cocktail with Aperol, lemon, and Amaro Nonino. It was perfectly balanced and the ideal drink to have after work. My fiancée ordered the Pornstar Martini, which she became very familiar with during a recent trip to Paris. The Wurst's version was a bit unorthodox since they serve the champagne on the side instead of as a floater on top. Not a negative, just different, and more of a deconstructed approach that some might treat like a chaser. Overall, The Wurst is a really cool concept bar that feels unlike anything else in Federal Hill. One of my favorite speakeasies in Baltimore. The Wurst is truly a hidden gem . . . literally. Tucked away above Slush Garden in Federal Hill, you enter through what looks like an industrial refrigerator door, which instantly sets the tone for the experience. This place consistently delivers on atmosphere, service, and drinks. I came here recently when I really needed a pick-me-up, and The Wurst delivered exactly that. The vibe is warm, intimate, and just quirky enough to be fun without trying too hard. A good friend of mine told me that if Will was bartending, we'd have an amazing time and he was 100% CORRECT. It didn't start that way at first, but as the evening went on, we quickly hit a groove. Will clearly takes his craft seriously. As we asked questions about ingredients and techniques, he was super knowledgeable and engaging. Watching him work behind the bar was honestly part of the fun. I ordered the Pineapple Mezcal Sour (pineapple, mezcal, agave, and fresh mint), and it was everything I love in a drink. Refreshing, smoky, and just the right amount of sweetness. I kept muddling the mint to savor every last bit. My friend had the New York Sour, which featured whiskey, lemon, simple syrup, red wine float, and egg white foam which was beautifully balanced and visually stunning. There was something extra on top that added a nice touch, though I couldn't quite place what it was. Towards the end of the night I was curious about a couple different ingredients I saw behind the bar and Will was more than generous to make me up a special concoction and when we tried to peek to see exactly what he was using, he definitely hid it from us lol. The Wurst is a super cool speakeasy in Federal Hill. I thought it was tucked away in Crossbar, but apparently the main venue is no longer named that. Anyway, The Wurst is accessed by entering the main venue, heading up the stairs, then opening a freezer door. Inside the door is the bar. It's dark and sexy in there, plus it's a small space which adds to a feeling of intimacy. Most of the seating is at the bar. They don't have a lot of beer options, which is my wheelhouse, but I was pleased with whatever sparkly white wine was recommended to me by the bartender. I finally got a chance to check out The Wurst and was pleased with the experience. The bartender greeted us immediately and was attentive. The cocktail menu is simple but thethey can prepare most drinks you want. I enjoyed the cozy, dim but not overly dark interior and the music was just the right volume and vibe to encourage conversation. The only con is that I wish the barstools were more comfortable because the place invites you to stay a while. I'll definitely return. 8/10 read more

Wurst Bar was a great spot for a date. The ambiance has a sensual, intimate vibe that makes it perfect for a cozy evening out. It was fun having my husband figure out the entrance to the spot- We went for the BOGO espresso martinis, and they did not disappoint--smooth, with a nice alcoholic pop, and creatively made. The only downside was that it was a bit crowded due to the happy hour deal, but we were still able to find a nice spot to settle in. (Also easy street parking nearby!) I love a good speakeasy and since this one is close, I grabbed a friend and headed over for a drink. It's located on the second floor of Crossbar behind a freezer door. That took a couple minutes to figure out but once inside, it made sense. It's tight, like a lot of speakeasies, with limited bar and side seating. Looks like it may hold about 25 people comfortably. When we walked in, it was pretty full but we found seats easily. The seats we found were in the direct path of the cold air conditioner but I could see how helpful that would be if it was really packed. The bartenders were all cool and had good energy. The drinks we got (a mezcal margarita, the horchata colada and a champagne drink) were cool but I was kinda expecting more from the drink menu. I was seeking different ingredients and more chemistry but it was fine. When using the restroom, I was reminded that there was a loud beer bar downstairs after seeing all the vomit on the floor. The Wurst is a tiny hidden gem on Cross Street, without the blackout frat vibe of some of the nearby spots. It's hidden on the second floor of the Cross Bar, behind a fake freezer door, but once you walk in it has sincere speakeasy vibes. It's dark, tiny, intimate, and covered in wooden paneling, and the bartenders were both great at the art of the cocktail and at conversation. They even did impromptu karaoke at one point. The atmosphere encourages making friends with your neighbors, and was incredibly fun. Also, the cocktails were divine.
