I met up with a friend here, with her husband and kids and my husband, and we had a great time. We didn't realize there would be live music, so it was a bit loud at first, but we got used to it. (The trumpet got a bit loud at times, but that's how such instruments can be!) My friend and I both got a cup of the crab chowder, which was tasty, if a bit weird-looking when the oil separated in it. I got a crab cake, and it didn't seem special compared to other crab cakes I've had, perhaps a bit dry too, but it was definitely fresh. I also went rogue and got a watermelon drink that was good enough where multiple would be dangerous! Everyone seemed to like their food, and my husband even tried clam strips and enjoyed them! I stopped in here after visiting the BMA for an early dinner as it was walking distance from the museum. It's right on the harbor so depending on where you are seated you may be able to get dinner with a view. Reservations were easy to obtain and I was able to be promptly seated once I arrived. The staff were friendly and my server was attentive. I ordered the crispy fish sandwich and was pleasantly surprised at the portion size. The meal was delicious and I left full. My fiancé and I normally love blackwall hitch but we left so disappointed this last time. We had 4 out of a dozen oysters rotten. One was visibly grey and desiccated and made it up to us, it made the entire table smell disgusting. The other 3 looked okay visually, but smelled rotten. We had such a great experience at Blackwall Hitch! The atmosphere was incredible--historic, unique, and full of character while still feeling warm and inviting. It was the perfect spot to enjoy Baltimore before heading to our concert. I ordered the Crab Eggs Benedict, and it was absolutely amazing--easily one of the best brunch dishes I've had. Party of 6 (2 children under 7) came in after visiting the science music conveniently located nearby (also worth a visit). Friendly hostess led us immediately to waiting table. Server took our order and come back two times. Kids food was brought out right away. Anyone with hangry children dearly appreciate this thought and execution. Adult orders quickly followed. One of the better restaurants I've been to in a while. Tuna tartar was fresh and tasty (little light on the chips, but we're still friends) and burger was excellent and cooked right. Little more pricey than some other places but it's a nice clean and well appointed restaurant. This is an example of paying for and actually getting the value you paid. I turned back around to photograph the signage, while my party headed to the bar exit door. I was very very happy we chose this place, we came on a weekend around lunchtime. I was so happy that the menu offered a variety of dishes. We got lots of different dishes, and some items to share. Blackwall is very cute but they not quick to buss tables or clean floors after guests. We were seated next to a family that had crayons and food on the floor , crying toddlers ... I was a bit irritated but I ordered a glass of wine and the family magically disappeared. Our server appeared to be having a bad day at work. We could feel his somber energy and he actually left work before we paid the bill. The good was good and hot but honestly we didn't order anything fancy . Wings, cornbread, fries, broccolini, and a Caesar salad . The Caesar came with a fried cheese disc on top . It was cute but I'd rather fresh Parmesan . We ate those apps and left pretty quickly. I asked isn't it suppose to come with some seafood, celery and bacon? He then told us that one was only served during Sunday Brunch. That would have been nice to know before he made the ones he did. They were meh at best. The establishment itself was adorable and looked like it might be fun at night, there was a stage for live music. I made a reservation on OpenTable for an early dinner on a Saturday at Blackwall Hitch. When I got there it was kind of empty and that made me question the limited time slots on OpenTable. At any rate the hostess greeted me and I was seated promptly. My server Chaudaiye came over and took my drink order and gave me some time to look over the menu. I was torn between menu items and after getting some input from the server I went with the pork chops. The pork chops had an apricot glaze and was paired with mashed potatoes and charred broccolini. For my drink I went ordered a strawberry lemonade. The drink was so so but the food was amazing. Only complaint is I wish there was a little less sauce. Not big on all that gravy on my mashed potatoes. But none the less I really enjoyed my meal. My server was super attentive and checked on me periodically. At one point I changed tables because I had two friends join me and she was super chill about it. The restaurant was well lit and clean. There was a large party in the upper portion having a gathering but that didn't impact the flow of business at all. Then when I left I was able to get my parking ticket validated so I paid $12 instead of $30. Not sure if this applies to all the garages but I parked at the Pier V garage to be specific. I lived in Maryland years ago and this was always a favorite in Annapolis. Early dinner on Friday night. Plenty of room at the bar for a walk in. The bartender was super nice and accommodating. Started with the espresso martini. It was real good with right amount of sweetness, always a good touch with coffee beans on top. Fried green tomatoes for the starter. They were yummy. The honey drizzle was a great touch that really balanced the tartness of the tomato and slight kick of the blackened seasoning. All this was served on a bed of creamy grits. They offer crab on top as an upsell, I declined and I think that was the right call because the flavors balanced really well and I believe the crab would have confused things a bit. Scallops with sweet potato mash for the main course. Great choice, the scallops were cooked perfectly with a char on top without being overdone. The flavors oh my, a spicy jelly, combined with smoke on the scallops and creamy polenta...nice touch. I can't leave out the sweet potato mash, tasted like home. Last night in Baltimore and our group visited Blackwall Hitch. Blackwall Hitch is an upscale restaurant serving fresh seafood, flatbreads and a variety of salads. Blackwall Hitch does welcome large parties but be warned they do not split checks so your party will have to figure out settling the bill within your party with one form of payment. Blackwall Hitch did provide great service, delicious food and reasonably priced. I do recommend ordering several appetizers as we tried all and hit the spot. Several of our party tried the oyster and a shot and enjoyed the fresh oyster with the liquor of their choice. Our party did get a great view of the city while it snowed which provided an opportunity for photos of our dining experience. Overall we had a great evening, I would have enjoyed the flexibility of paying my own bill without the chaos of coordinating Venmo payments to handle of our bill. I do recommend Blackwall Hitch, just don't do group seating. read more

Made a reservation at 4:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon. Not crowded. Right on the harbor, so you have a nice view of the ships and shops. Warm greeting by the hostess, who was smartly dressed and wearing cool heart-shaped glasses. My server greeted me promptly. He checked on me regularly and several other people checked on me as well, including other servers and what I assume to be the manager, and even that cool hostess again. I started with the fried green tomatoes with crab meat and the smoked crab toast. Full disclosure, I'm not a huge seafood person, but when in Baltimore, you have to at least try! The fried green tomatoes was breaded well, so the coating didn't fall off like in some places. The grits were creamy. I didn't taste the hot honey at all. Maybe that's why the grits were creamy, but I didn't catch the flavor. The smoked crab toast: the focaccia was crispy and well grilled. The flavors were great, with capers, pickled radish, and herbs. At this point, I think maybe lump crab just isn't my thing? There was absolutely nothing wrong with the crab. For me it was just, "meh." I think this is a me thing and not a them thing. Other starters include shrimp, tuna tartare, wings, mussels. They also have oysters. For mains, they. have chef's catch, crab cakes, New York strip steak, pan seared salmon, wagyu steak frites, grilled pork chop, a grilled portobello mushroom for the veggies, Branzino, seaside Alfredo, etc. I had the filet Oscar, which is a 6 oz filet topped with crab meat, served with mashed potatoes, hollandaise, and charred broccolini. The steak was tender, the perfect medium temp that I ordered. The mashed potatoes actually had some flavor and creaminess and were served with the skins, so chunky. A lot of places serve bland mashed potatoes. The broccolini was smoky with some snap. Again, the lump crab . . . not sure it was worth the 58 dollar price tag. Again, that's a me thing, not a them thing. Just didn't add to my culinary experience. I did order a side of season fries because I often try fries at each establishment I patronize. The fries were chunky and well-seasoned, but a little cold. I think they could have been better and it was a one-off. But overall, pretty good. The drinks were okay. They have some fall-themed margaritas and martinis. With apple and cider flavors. They have a mango margarita, a pear martini, bourbon drinks. Nothing mind-blowing, but not bad. There was a dessert menu, but I didn't even give it a second look because I was so full. Would try this place again . . . but for seafood, I am going to try a couple of local recommendations like Mama's on the Half-shell or Jimmy's. read more

I got the Baltimore Breakfast Skillet. It comes with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and crab... WHERE WAS THE CRAB??? There were tiny pieces of crab but they were hard to find. My father asked for a piece of cake with a candle to celebrate my birthday, well part of the crust was missing from the cheese cake.
