Went to Maryland for the weekend, swung through Baltimore, and had lunch at the Rusty Scupper on a local's recommendation. Locals: 1, Google Reviews: 0. Best suggestion I've ever received in my life, no notes. The crab cakes. THE CRAB CAKES. 95% crab meat, 5% "why would we add filler bread, are we monsters." I didn't know crab cakes could have a personality until this one looked me dead in the eye. The Cream of Crab Soup was the best thing I've ever put on a roll and then had to switch to a spoon for, like it graduated from bread delivery system to full-blown soup mid-bite and I respected the glow-up. Not pictured: the Tuna Poke, which I'm still mad about. If you like poke bowls, do NOT eat here, because every poke bowl after this one is going to taste like a disappointing participation trophy. You will compare every future bowl to this one and every future bowl will lose. This is the place for a great meal, a gorgeous view, or the best first date that will ruin every future first date by comparison (sorry to whoever you date next). This spot was good overall. It has an old-school vibe and amazing views of the water. We had a group of 8, so I understand service can be a little slower with a larger party, but it definitely took a while. The food was pretty average across the board, and there really weren't any standout dishes. The crab cakes were especially disappointing because they were quite small. The biggest issue, though, was the tipping situation. My grandmother didn't realize the tip was already included, and the waiter never mentioned it to us. She ended up tipping another $300 on top of the already-included gratuity. I would expect the restaurant staff to have a little more integrity and make that clear to the customer, especially when you already have a high bill and have tipped accordingly. We came during Restaurant Week, $55 two‑course menu, live jazz, and a smooth dining flow for our group of five adults and three kids. The kids stuck to burgers, tenders, and salmon while the adults enjoyed the fixed menu. The best part?, celebrating my mom's birthday!The staff doesn't do the traditional song, but our table started singing when her dessert arrived and the entire restaurant joined in. The Whistle Pig Maple Old Fashioned was outstanding and set the tone for an incredible meal. I ordered the crab cake with asparagus and mashed potatoes, and it was honestly the best I've ever had. Everything on the plate was amazing from start to finish. Our server, Dante, was friendly and extremely funny, keeping us all laughing throughout the evening. He even went out of his way to bring separate gluten-free bread for someone in our group, which was a thoughtful and much appreciated touch. I am part of a brunch group where we rotate locations every month. Rusty Scupper was on our list! The service, food, and vibe are all A+. The two things that I enjoyed the most were the omelette station and the peach Bellini's. They also offer other brunch, staples, and some knot so common items like mac&cheese and bread pudding...Actually, let me take a pause here and change my mind about my top two items. Came here after spending the day at the aquarium and we are glad we made the walk around the harbor to get here. Service was great, our server was super cool and helpful. The restaurant is more upscale and has an incredibly nice view. We got lucky there was an air show so there were navy jets flying by the entire time we were there. The food was very good, I got the crab stuffed shrimp, my wife got blackened rockfish, and my sister got the fry basket. We also got oysters to start. Prices are a little steep here but given the location and ambiance, it's expected. Either way we had a great time and meal. I'd recommend this place to someone visiting Baltimore. read more

Went to the Rusty Scupper for the first time today for Valentines Day dinner. They had a wonderful prix fixed menu for the holiday. It was a beautiful setting. My only reason for lower score was because they sat us in the table all the way to the end. My husband's view for the evening was the parking garage. We enjoyed the food all the same. My husband had the calamari to start (a healthy portion - we had leftovers). I had the half & half crab soup. It was a bit salty but went well with the delicious bread that they had. We only ordered appetizers and drinks, but everything we tried was good. We shared the crab dip, which was amazing, and I personally ordered the calamari, which I also enjoyed. For drinks, I had their sangria -- sweet, refreshing, and very good overall. My only issue with the place is the pricing. We were a Family of Ten and were accommodated to the upmost. Never had to wait for a server and the customer service was on point. It could not have been better!! We were sat at a window table with a great view of the harbor. Our server was prompt and attentive (Bellinis galore!). We were here for the brunch layout. The food was fantastic!! Ham, prime rib and lamb carving station, seafood. custom omelets, fantastic buffet spread of delicious food...of all the breakfast classics and comfort food eats. And of course.....The Seafood!! Oysters, shrimp, crab & lobster.....you name it....they served it. In all, our food was top notch. Our severs were very attentive.... helpful and pleasant but not overbearing. Our water glasses and drinks were never emptied. Between the quality of the food and customer service, it could not have been a better experience! Thank you Rusty Scupper! Wonderful experience! We came in on a Sunday night and it could not have been more perfect. We had the Tuna Carpaccio, Crab Cake, Shrimp and Grits, Scallops and Crab Fettuccine. All were great and very flavorful. The shiitake mushrooms and truffle puree surrounding the scallops was divine. The scallops were unfortunately quite over cooked but regardless it was still a highly enjoyable meal. Service was great and our waiter could not have been better with the host staff being incredibly welcoming as well. Ambiance was perfect, not overly crowded and stunning views. The spices that encapsulated the fish enhanced the overall flavor of the dish. It was some of the best fish I have had the pleasure of eating. My husband had the crab cakes & he stated that they were full of actual crab meat & not filler. I was very impressed that the restaurant offered a free calamari appetizer if you sign up for emails. The calamari was also very light & tasted great. We ordered the Parmesan Truffle fries as an appetizer also & they were crunchy and cooked perfectly & also very flavorful. We ended our meal sharing a Mexican coffee. It was yummy & the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Finally, the view, decor & ambiance of the restaurant were all breathtaking. The restaurant is situated at a quiet part of the Inner Harbor. So we were able to enjoy our meal with a beautiful view of the harbor away from the usual hustle & bustle of the harbor. We visited The Rusty Scupper tonight and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Linwood (LJ), welcomed us and gave us a thorough rundown of the menu/special options. He also shared his favorite menu items and answered all of our questions. Throughout the evening, he cleared dishes so we had space on our table and refilled our drinks without us requesting. We appreciate his hospitality!!! The music playing was very diverse, including the pianist entertainer of the evening. The view is beautiful and the space in between tables provided different groups a bit of privacy while dining. We had the lump crab fettuccine, sea bass, kids' salmon, lump crap cake, calamari, scallops, and octopus. For dessert, we shared the flan and the cake with strawberries. Wow!!! Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the crab cake because it wasn't overtaken by bread crumbs, like other places will do. It was very flavorful. The general manager stopped by to check on us, which made us see how much customers are valued. Every person that took care of us was very kind. By far the BEST BRUNCH location in Baltimore! It is so yummy and delicious! I don't even know where to start. When you get there there's private parking that you unfortunately have to pay for but your car is safe and right at the restaurant so I get it. When you arrive you're greeted by multiple staff and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RESERVATION! I showed up once and forgot and they were already overbooked but they booked us for the following Sunday. The food selections change with different themes sometimes so it's not just the exact same menu every time. We went during Mardi and the food was so good. The restaurant is inspired by a ship of course so the interior is so beautiful and reminds you of a very regal cruise ship. From start to finish it's just exceptional all around. Happy hour in a venue overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor, what more can you ask for? I love that the happy hour menu is reasonably priced, and the food is absolutely delicious. I had a shrimp basket with fries, and a crab cake. Good portions too. The staff is friendly and attentive. Although I didn't have any alcoholic beverages, the folks in my group said that the drinks were not very strong at all and referred to the sangria as punch. I would like to add, that it would have been nice to be able to be seated at a table nearby rather than the high top tables, because it can be challenging on those stools with a senior group. Finally got a chance to check out their really nice Jazz Brunch Sunday's. For 65$ you really get a nice selection of food to choose from the raw bar, traditional brunch favorites and a omelet station to name a few. Unlimited mimosas and sangria and bellini's are included with a beautiful view of the Inner Harbor. Just a friendly reminder there are two seatings: 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. / 1:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. with a 1-1/2-hour maximum seating time to enjoy your brunch. Buffet closes at 2:30 p.m. & Last Cocktails served at 2:15 p.m. So if you are dining with other guests, make sure everyone in your party is on time. The cream of crab soup is delightful especially when mixed with the Maryland Crab.
