Wow 2 Baltimore City reviews in a row! Representing 2nd quarter of 2022 is Pratt Street Ale House. I had been here twice, 2016 & 2022. Both times I got crab cake. It was a solid crab cake, but there are some better options especially around Annapolis & Anne Arundel County in general, but this is conveniently located near the Hippodrome Theater & Camden Yard, where I went afterward in the respective years. It's a large restaurant and been a staple in downtown Baltimore a long time. I briefly dated a woman in Winter 2011-12, but she ended up becoming a friend. In April 2016, I won tickets to Kevin James at Hippodrome Theater. Although I tried to get a date for this, since that didn't pan out, I ended up going with a friend. My friend said I could pick whatever dinner I wanted on her since I got the tickets, drove us from her apartment in Hyattsville (I lived in Arlington, VA at the time; so a lot of driving that day), & ended up paying for the parking. I said that I wanted crab cakes and settled on Pratt Street House. With the parking costs, gas, & wear/tear, may have ended up a little behind, but I will say I enjoyed the crab cake. Like my prior review, I was still briefly dating the same woman in Spring 2022. I've lived in Anne Arundel County, and she lived in Cockeysville; so Baltimore City ended up being a good in between location. She wanted us to go to an O's game, which I wanted to too. Incidentally, this May 2022 Pratt Street Ale House & O's game was our last date. I found something to be annoying on our 2nd to last date and was reluctant to go on another date. But she was pushing for us going to O's game, which I like going to anyway. Opposite of 2016 situation, she bought our O's tickets, so I bought our Pratt Street Alehouse lunch on that Sunday. Although we had a better time than the 2nd to last date, I was still cognizant of that date, and we fizzled out. In summary, some pretty good memories & solid crab cakes. Pratt Street Ale House is located in downtown Baltimore and is a great spot to grab drinks before a sporting event. We stopped by around 5 PM on a Saturday before an Orioles game, so as expected, the place was extremely busy and had a lively pregame atmosphere. The beers were good, but unfortunately, the food is what brought my rating down to three stars. The fries tasted a little stale, and I ordered the smash burger (forgot to grab a picture), which was pretty average. I've definitely had much better smash burgers elsewhere. We also tried the chicken fingers, which were very basic and reminded me of typical ballpark food, not bad, but nothing memorable or something I'd crave again. Overall, Pratt Street Ale House is a solid spot for drinks and the pregame atmosphere, especially if you're heading to an Orioles game. However, based on the food we tried, I probably wouldn't come back specifically to eat. I'd recommend it more as a pregame drinks spot than a dining destination. read more

Absolutely terrible!!! First night in Baltimore and had the absolute worst service and food. My the waitress got my husband's order wrong twice after waiting forever and it was not busy. And did not offer any resolution only blaming her ordering device. DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

In any other city, the crab cakes here would be 5 star as they were pretty dang good. Not the best I've had by any means, but way better than what most places try and pass off as a crab cake. The dinner option was generous with 2 delicious crabby mounds, and two sides which I did not want, but I was able to sub out others. Nice! The old fashioned wasn't much to look at, but man o man... it was actually pretty good and a reasonable price. I had a couple as I'm not one to pass up cheap drinks. Service was spectacular too with our waiter joking around with us and taking good care of us while we dined after a conference. If you're in Baltimore and near the convention center (or the Orioles Park), this place is worth a stop if you're in a crab cake mood and don't want to venture to the Inner Harbor for something a little more upscale. read more

Nice food on a Saturday before watching The Smashing Pumpkins nearby at the CFG Arena. Was informed about a long wait for a table at the maitre'd stand, but then found out we could dine outside after ordering our food from the bar. Much quicker in that regard! The Pratt Street Ale House team was a blast to work with for our event! Especially because we had to book them short notice. Everyone checked in with our guests and our party periodically, they were open to answer all of our questions, and the energy of the staff was really great. Talking to everyone, joking with them, they were a blast to talk to! The food was really good too! The sweet chili wings were so great to eat! The spicy rub chicken was good too! The rest were really good too! Especially as vegetarian options! The vibe of our event room was awesome! It's called The Library. The location was roomy but also felt homey at the same time. TV is there in the middle too for other game events if you want to watch. 5/5 experience and I've gone back already these past couple of days too! read more

I went to this spot because I had been staying at a nearby hotel for a conference and this restaurant was across the street. It's a big space and I went this some colleagues as walk-ins and we got seated right away. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the option size. It felt very American, if that makes any sense. It gave me the casual Fridays/ Applebees vibes without being so gimmicky. If I were in the area and looking for a quick, affordable and casual meal, I'd go back. read more

We stopped here for a late lunch and a drink. We chose a seat at the bar. Staff here were friendly and there was a decent beer selection. They have an outdoor seating area and table seating inside as well. We decided to share a cheesesteak and fries. The fries were average in my opinion. The cheesesteak was good! My bf and I both enjoyed it. It was a large sandwich and we were both full sharing it. I would have added a bit more pepper and some garlic or onion powder, but that's just me. We stopped by a little after 11am on a Saturday and there were 12 of us. We were able to get a table outside for all of us with not a lot of notice which was great. It's right across the street from the convention center which is convenient. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My crab cake sandwich was a bit on the pricey side but good. I thought my friend's nachos needed more toppings and cheese. We also got orange crushes which were pretty good. Our server was very patient and funny and we all loved him. LET THE BUYER BEWARE! This place adds an automatic 20% large party surchage (aka tip) to the bill if you have a party of 6 or more, but does not verbally tell you that (its a single line in the middle of the bill), and then puts a place to add another 20% or more tip at the bottom of the bill. During my recent visit, we had a party of 5 and the 20% surcharge was added anyway (the bill says we had 6 people but we did not). I added the tip not noting the surcharge buried in the bill and ended up paying a 40% tip which was not my intent. If a 20% surcharge has been added (there is also a 3% credit card fee), then the server should verbally tell the person who is paying; shame on management and the city of Baltimore for allowing this shysterism. read more

Food ended up being good and our server was awesome but the kitchen seemed overwhelmed and took forever to get us served. It resulted in us getting to our game later than we wanted. We had gone in and was seated quite quickly, and Service was a little slow, but it was a packed house as we were finishing up our meals. The table to the left of us got up and left the room. One would think they had finished their meals, but one of the ladies bent down and told us that there was a mouse under her table. We asked for the check and we spotted three mice across from us in boots and they were running in between the two boots about five minutes later, there was a scream at the end of the rum and women were standing on chairs raising their feet up off the floor because there were multiple mice at that and Also. I usually don't write reviews. I must say the food was good and the service was good but that mice investigation cannot and should not be tolerated. I wondered why the building was so big, but it all made sense when I walked in and the place was packed (both up and downstairs). Got on the waitlist with an estimated 30 minute wait, but we were seated within 15. My girlfriend wanted a regular hamburger, but Pratt Street Ale only has specialty burgers, which was kind of odd. They don't even have an option on the register for a regular hamburger, so we still got charged for the specialty. However, it did taste REALLY good - maybe not $17 good, but up there. The hot chicken sandwich was okay. Not as spicy as I'd like, and I wish there were some more pickles or coleslaw to add flavor. Fries were amazing if you like crinkle cut! My biggest gripe was PARKING! There is virtually no parking nearby unless you're willing to pay $40+ for 45 minutes in the public lot. Insane! No street parking in front of the building, so you'll have to drive around for a bit to find a meter. But you'll get a nice walk on the way to and from the building! read more

Do NOT eat here! Bad food quality and lousy customer service. Uncaring management. I experienced the absolute worst service and food quality at this restaurant on 6/17/25, to include double-charging me for mac & cheese with crab. The restaurant's manager, Jennifer Myers, was totally rude to me and reneged on her promise to correct a bad meal. They served me mac & cheese w/crab ($28) with VIRTUALLY NO CRAB meat. When I reported the problem to the manager, Jennifer Myers, she promised to replace my meal with an option of my choice: two crab cakes. Twenty minutes later, she pulled a bait and switch, and served me a MKT price ($58) crab cake dinner. When I called out the double-priced meal, the manager returned, over-talked me, snatched the food back, and left me with nothing! She even called me "aggressive" when I asked for better service, and advocated for myself and respectable service. My table companions told her, "He's not aggressive." In the end, I left with nothing. What kind of service is that? Terrible. Eat where the restaurant's staff respects you. Skip Pratt Street Ale House! Do NOT visit this establishment, unless you're prepared to accept worse-than-mediocre food quality and lousy customer service. Service was fairly quick and staff were quite friendly. It was bustling when we visited. At the time of our visit, they were out of several microbrews listed on their menu. The Asian salads came with an abundance of lettuce, grilled chicken, and veggies but weren't chopped finely as one would expect in an Asian salad. The sesame salad dressing was thick and very overpowering, much like a marinade or such. Definitely order that on the side. The pub is quaint and rustic as one might expect for a pub. This was the first restaurant I visited in Baltimore since moving from the West Coast, and it was a short but great experience :) I came here because the tattoo convention was in town and it was a chance for me to explore and get a bite to eat before visiting the exhibits! I am aware that crab is very popular, so my husband and I split the crab pretzel and we each had a local beer. The pretzel was nice and fluffy with a heaping of crab and cheese on top. It was enough for the two of us, probably one other person. The bartender was super friendly and gave us some recommendations for other seafood spots around the area. Attending a concert at the remodeled arena, the Pratt Street Ale House was a short walk and a better option than paying for overpriced food in the arena. For a Friday night, it was packed and yet we didn't wait the 25 minutes for a table for 3. Service was quick and friendly and the mood was cozy for a pub. We (well I) had to try the fried pickles and mozz sticks. The pickles were tasty but the breading was too thick. And yet, they almost disappeared. Mozz sticks were on point. I tried the Bmore Hot Chicken sandwich which comes with a healthy portion of crinkle fries. The hot chicken tasted more like hot sauce than other hot chickens. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Spicy enough to satisfy but be open to something a little different. My experience mirrored a lot of the other reviews. Service was odd and not attentive, food was not the best, and there was an auto-20% gratuity added. My group was seated quickly, but the waiter took a while to come by and take our orders. The food also was slow to come out. Everything was alright, but not great. I had the chicken sandwich: little seasoning, some of it was cold, the chicken was dry, and the fries weren't great. I also tried the pickle fries and they were okay. I think the main reason this place gets busy is that it's right on Pratt next to the convention center and the harbor is nearby. I think it's more just in a convenient location. read more

It was good and plenty to make me full the only unfortunate thing is my salad took 40 min to get to me and there were only like 3 occupied tables in the whole section with 2 waitresses.
