29th street tavern is a low-frills, divey bar. We stopped by because I had always drove by the red neon lights and was curious. Catfish nuggets were the special of the evening. They were pretty tasty and I love the fresh cut fries. The portions were good. And my boyfriend loved that resurrection beer was on the menu. Would definitely return.

View from our table for two, love this kitschy stained glass pub vibe, it's nice and clean including the bathrooms.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The Foreign Legion/VFW post vibe is pretty cool, went on a Tuesday night around 9 and even though the bar was full we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table for two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartenders were polite and cleaned our table quickly, considering the place was packed they were doing an amazing job. The Buffalo Garlic Parm sauce for the wings was clearly home made and without realizing it we were there on a Tuesday making the wings only 9 dollars, the blue cheese is very mild but worked well with the sauce. The shrimp po'boy was large enough to split and was comparable to a sandwich from New Orleans in quality. I was tempted by the club but the turkey isn't the style I like, otherwise I could easily see myself trying more of the menu because it's clear the cook was skilled. The rail ginger beer and rum was inexpensive and well made and their selection of beer while currently missing a few key dark beer items was not bad at all, they included some draft beer options as well outside of the standard light beers and National Bohemian. All in all I would see myself returning when I head to the area for Ottobar events to try more of their food menu, just remember to get there somewhat early before the kitchen closes at 10.

This is an excellent neighborhood dive bar. The prices are reasonable and the food is very well executed, classic bar food. The deviled eggs were particularly good; they taste like something you get at a family cookout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar has the exact kind of ambiance you would hope for at this type of establishment - it's dimly lit, covered in dark wood, with some old, yellow and red old stained glass lamps, and a dart board in the back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

29th street is a hidden gem! Truly one of my favorite places to eat! I have yet to order something from here that I do not like and they are super consistent! Every time I come, the food is just as good as it was the previous time. Menu is affordable. I forgot to get a photo of the chicken cheesesteak and blt but both were delicious. The handcut fries are AMAZING as well.

We went in a cold day snowed streets hoping to get tomatoe soup and grilled cheese. With a sub for mom. We met some nice bartenders that were attentive and engaging. Didnt have my soup nor grilled cheese. So I settled for a salad. Mom enjoyed her Wed special, cheesesteak so that was enough for me

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great local spot for a beer or cider in a friendly environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartenders are genuinely nice folks, too. Somehow, I'm going to make it here soon for a happy hour to take advantage of their great.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a hip and cool scene, a packed local bar scene.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a delicious veggie burger and fries and a non-alcoholic beer. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Food was awesome especially the Maryland cream of crab soup. Service was excellent. Beers are cheap.

    Smash burger and fries. #Yum

I really should just copy the review @OctaviusS wrote and paste it here (with attribution!). We went on the early side, and I think all three of us got burgers -- but the burger that was on special, the smash burger. So, so good. I also love their selection of beer, and the cozy, homey atmosphere. Definitely plan to visit again when I'm in Baltimore again.

I've popped by a few times because it's all the buzz. I typically get whatever the daily special is and it hits every time 10/10.

Clandestino has grown up, literally. What began as a small operation in Frederick has moved into a…read morelarger space, and the expansion suits them well. This is Puerto Rican pitorro, also known as ron cañita, made with care and intention rather than gimmickry. Many local liquor stores now carry the brand, and it is well worth picking up a bottle, but visiting the distillery is an experience in itself. The founder is a fellow Puerto Rican born retired military member, a background I share, and like me, he has put down roots in Maryland. That story is reflected clearly in the brand's own framing, "Puerto Rican born, Maryland made." The space feels grounded and unpretentious, and that sensibility carries through to the hospitality. We arrived late on a Saturday and were still welcomed warmly, never rushed. We were taken care of by the founder's daughter, who was exceptionally kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She guided us through a flight that included the traditional pitorro, almond, pineapple, coffee, coconut chai, and several seasonal offerings. The flavors were thoughtful and well balanced; even the infused expressions retained a clear rum backbone rather than drifting into novelty. We enjoyed them enough to leave with several bottles. This is artisanal pitorro done right, rooted in Puerto Rican tradition and confidently made in Maryland. Buying it locally is convenient, but going to the distillery is where the people, the story, and the spirit fully come together.

This local speakeasy has quickly moved its way to the top of my list…read more I love the ease of parking, safe neighborhood, and spacious speakeasy space. Always great service by bar manager Charlie, fantastic food and beverage menu and options. My favs so far are the grilled wings and chicken tortilla soup. The drinks are pretty awesome, and Charlie the Great can alter beverages to your preference if you prefer. This is an overall mezcal bar, but they have other libations as well. My fav is John Updike's Old Fashioned. My son ordered and loved the Strawberry Gin & Tonic. This establishment is a great conversation starter, and I look forward to returning asap.
