I wish I had the confidence of the terrible people in politics and workplaces who either lie about…read moretheir skills or are too ignorant to even be aware of their many flaws. Maybe I take Yelp too seriously. But it's a bummer when I see a review that praises the food, service and decor then rates 3 stars. (To re-use my joke, "3 out of 5 on Yelp isn't good, it isn't a work performance review). I have struggled with my Duda's review since August since I would strongly recommend it but I'm also price-cautious. To make matters worse I don't remember the exact crab market price but it was possibly $31 or $32 for one and low $50s for two (fact-checkers welcome). The crab cake was superb. All killer, no filler. The potato salad was very good. While I didn't love the price/volume I can't claim expertise on market prices and If you look at the drink prices this is clearly not a ripoff place. Possibly it's a better deal if you're with a group and can split some apps. In line with my slow education that Baltimore has more than the Inner Harbor, Duda's had a spectacular sense of place. It was a rare experience in feeling like a true locals place that is friendly to tourists. There's no record scratch and "you ain't from around here." The waiter was excellent and was impressively emphatic about the crab cakes.

I'm not much of a drinker, so I just got an Unsweetened Iced Tea, which came with a lemon wedge and different sugar packets. They do have a large variety of drinks and seasonal specialties. The Chili Bake was piping hot! A couple croutons were a bit stale, but good overall. I love the textures and flavor. The Crab Cake (MP of the day was $30.99) with Potato Salad (and cocktail sauce - can also get tartar sauce) is a big ball of lump crab. It's a bit too crispy for me, but would definitely be good for most people. The potato salad had great texture. A chill spot to hit for good food (and drinks!)

I finally got a chance to check out this brewery and I am glad I did. Housed in the former St…read more Michael's Church, Ministry Brewing is really nice collective of beer, food and ambience. And I love that they give back to the community in areas such as education, community and philanthropy. Stopped in this past Saturday with a bunch of my gym friends. I love that their tap list offers a little bit of everything for everyone, from classic lagers and IPA to house ciders. I am a Pilsner girl, so their Pilsner was my fave. I love that they do weekly events such as Trivia and open mic nights to name a few as well as host a few several food trucks out back. Oh and this is the spot where they have that really nice flea market as well. You have to check their Instagram page to see which food trucks will be serving food. Saturday they had empanadas from Aru Aru, which were very yummy and made fresh to order. Best spot if you are a beer connoisseur, great place for happy hours and is accommodating for large parties. Plus you bring your own cards and board games to play as well. I will so definitely return.

The old church and architecture is so warm and inviting-- it was still decorated and lit for Christmas so it felt extra festive. It WAS weird to see the brew tanks at the front of the old church, where the altar would have been. But it also places the beer on the altar of our Friday night so I was OK with that. I had an American Pale Ale, the husband had a Kolsch. My beer was exceptional and delicious. My husband said the kolsch was OK. They also have a cute space with books and board games! As well as a cool merchandise wall with excellent cool t-shirts. I had to restrain myself. There is no kitchen or food served here. Order at the bar and sit where you want, there are plenty of tables and a lot of elbow space. The folks at the bar are Super Nice and you should tip them well. They told me there is usually a food truck that shows up at an undisclosed time in the evening. We did order some fantastic pretzels (w/ smoked gouda) and waited some more but ultimately had to go find a meal elsewhere. We will be back, perhaps in warmer weather to wait out the food truck and have more beer. Also, we were there for happy hour so our beers were $5! Thank you to all of the kind people at The Ministry of Brewing! We will be back.

But to…read morebe honest I believe that's an advantage because I'd rather a place do a few things extremely well than flounder over a menu that meanders all over the place. That is the Wren for you. I've been eyeing this place for a bit and due to the nature of walk ins hadn't been able to make it in. They recently opened up reservations on Tock so I snapped one up. Even if you don't really drink this pub is still a nice dinner/date night outing. Will say some of the seating was a little uncomfortable (both my bf and the gentlemen next to us are over 6 feet tall but sat on tiny chair/stools) but that might have been the only negative. We were not super hungry so we decided to share a lighter plate and an entree. While the menu does change almost day to day sometimes I do believe the cheese and chutney plate is a constant. Two cheeses, some chutney, butter, spicy brown english mustard and rye bread. So simple but so delicious. I could have eaten that by myself. For the entree we split a half poussin (a quail?) which was served with borlatti beans and an aioli. Again everything was really yummy. I'd come back to the Wren again. We had a nice time and even though we don't really drink (it is primarily a pub and I am sure people there to grab drinks only love their experience) I enjoyed the food. I understand why this place is so highly regarded.

The perfectly intimate bar and back room fire that feels like you are in a place and time far away? The attentive staff that takes great pride in the food and the service that they provide? The quality of the ingredients in combination with the chef's master mind? The perfectly paired whiskey (or is it whisky?) and beer list - that was poured with patience and finesse? You must go here. When we went, we enjoyed a couple pints, the sourdough bread, the eggs, the rabbit salad, and the fish pie. We were floating on high after that meal. Thank you, Wren, for such an amazing experience.
