I'm not sure I even know where to start. Me and my best friend rolled up (without reservations - oops) but were greeted and seated almost immediately. The area near the front window almost feels like a private table. It was definitely giving a great vibe. We checked the menu prior to picking this place and they had EXACTLY what I wanted. I had a big ole brunch of their Grand Marnier Strawberry French Toast which was a three stack of THICCCCC cut Texas bread. It was better than I hoped for! And I brought at least half of it home, because ole greedy butt over here also got the platter with the home fries (I asked for onions and got this caramelized onion topping that was almost a jam. Yummm), the bacon and the eggs your way (scrambled with cheese). My companion had this big ole omelette with a lot of veggies and shared my french toast. The sauce they served with the home fries was sooooo good - it was almost like Heinz 57 sauce but with less of a vinegary bite. The jam that came for my English Muffin was delicious and praise GOD they served butter that wasn't ice cold and unspreadable so yeah hella points for that. For the mimosas, we did the "buy the carafe and the bottle", with a carafe of cranberry juice and a bottle of Cava Prosecco. I loved that we were able to select WHICH bubbles we wanted and for two people it worked out very well price wise. The host (tall guy with a mohawk) and our server (Robyn) were absolutely fantastic. Personable and friendly and very attentive, very much able to answer any questions we had (THANK YOU ROBYN!!!). In short - this place is a gem and yall should go! I had brunch with my husband and a couple of friends at Silver Queen Cafe a couple of weeks ago after having it on our to try list for a while. I love its vibe - casual, homey, a little eclectic. The service was also very good. I had a Bloody Mary and their Hangover Hash (fried chicken livers, two eggs sunny side up, home fries, pork sausage gravy, really hot sauce). The Bloody Mary was classic, and I enjoyed it. My meal on the other hand was so-so. The gravy had good flavor, and I thought the home fries were well cooked as well. But the chicken livers were way overcooked for me (they had that chalky texture they get when they're overcooked), which always makes me sad (chicken livers are one of those things that are great when cooked properly but pretty awful when cooked poorly). Just based on the cook on the chicken livers, I would not order the dish again, but I also didn't get the hot sauce at all, and the dish really could have used some acid/brightness since it's a heavy dish. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. I ordered something a bit riskier, and it didn't pay off, but the other dishes seemed hits with my husband and friends. I did enjoy that their menu has some less common brunch items on it! It's not just the same dishes you can get on every brunch menu in the city: duck benedict, shrimp and grits, scrapple benedict, pickle brined fried chicken sandwich... Overall, it's a brunch spot with some traditional, homey charm and a more interesting menu than the average brunch spot. As a furloughed government employee, times like this can be really tough. So, it was a pleasant surprise to discover this hidden gem offering a free meal nearby. Before arriving, I made a reservation through their website, which was quick and easy. Once we got there, it was immediately clear why reservations were needed; the restaurant is small and cozy. Still, it's beautifully decorated, spotless, and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the chef, possibly the owner personally greeted us and showed us to our table. We were served right away and informed that three options were available for the "furlough meal," (Hamilton Smashburger, Spicy chicken sandwich, and the Black Bean burger), with the option to order from the regular menu at cost. We both chose the "Hamilton Smashburger," which came with house fries or garlic fries and a drink (the garlic fries were fantastic!). The burger itself was clearly homemade, juicy, and so big I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I ended up taking the rest home, repurposing it on a fresh bun, and was grateful to have grabbed some of their homemade ketchup, it was that good! Even though the meal was completely complimentary, I left a small tip for our wonderful waitress/bartender (I usually tip more but did what I could). This was my 1st time here.. We ordered the Hamilton Smashburger that came with garlic herb fries.. The food was so good.. came with a horseradish mayo & homemade house ketchup.. Silver Queen is one of the absolute best restaurants in the entire city, HANDS DOWN. Shout out to Karen, who's been working there for some years now! No idea why I'm just getting around to reviewing my spot after all these years, but here goes... On my recent visit, I came with friends determined to pay SQ yet another visit. We got a few things to share: The peach French toast was unbelievably good. The Southerners in our group all agreed that it had a bread pudding consistency that was nothing but the truth. Peaches and the crumble took it to the next level. One friend ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and grits which were clearly a hit. Another friend got the brined chicken sandwich which is always a good choice- crispy outside and tender flavorful inside. Great sides of potatoes and braised greens are never a bad choice. I had an omelette off of the featured item menu, and it did not disappoint. Stopped by on Halloween for the Federal Worker freebie they are offering and they did not disappoint! They have meter parking outside on the street but there is a CVS parking lot nearby (just saying). They stay open pretty late which is also nice. I got the pickle brined fried chicken sandwich with fries & a ginger ale. The sandwich was good and so were the fries! It's a bit bready and the chicken could have been seasoned a bit more but customer service was excellent. Well we had been recommended this place by several people and were a little disappointed; hopefully just a fluke. They have a cute cozy interior and a few little tables outside. Our server took very good care of us. We ordered the special which was a $29 duck breast eggs benedict and a side of scrapple. The scrapple was great and hot. The flavors for the main dish were good but aside from the eggs themselves, the rest of the dish was lukewarm to cold which gave the grits a congealed texture and the cold duck was just not doing it for us. We let our server know who said she'd ask the owner about a discount but came out with the full-price bill and no other mention of it. Update: the owner has since corrected this. I came to silver queen with my partner a few weeks ago. The outside of the building is so cute! It's small and painted bright teal. Inside, the restaurant is modern and tasteful. I ordered the stuffed acorn squash and I was not disappointed. The squash was stuffed with wild rice, raisins, almonds, and a maple mustard sauce. The squash was nice and tender, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the almonds added a nice textural contrast. The maple mustard sauce was AMAZING. I would bathe in it haha. The Silver Queen Cafe is a quaint hidden gem. Reservations are best since there aren't many tables but what is there is clean and well decorated. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the drink specials and menu options. We ordered the caramel apple French toast and the shrimp and grits. The French toast was light, fluffy, and full of warming spices. The sweetness of the cooked apples was an excellent compliment to the spices within the sausage. The shrimp and grits came with a variety of flavors. The vinegary bite of the greens with the smooth grits and well seasoned shrimp made for a delectable bite. The strawberry lemonade was fresh and a welcome palate cleanser. Im excited to return to try more of the menu. read more

The crust had the texture of undercooked Play‑Doh, the sauce tasted like someone diluted ketchup with wishful thinking, and the cheese was applied with the kind of restraint usually reserved for minimalists and people on strict budgets. If there's a pizza test, this thing didn't just fail -- it asked for extra time and still turned in a blank sheet. Eating brunch at Silver Queen Cafe today reminded me how something as simple as a meal can not only brighten your entire day, but spark so many memories, through little nuanced layers of flavor, of amazing meals I've had in the past. I had Eggs with scrapple, home fries and toast. Who knew someone could take such a simple meal and elevate it to the point where you can't stop thinking about it the rest of your day. With food like home fries and scrapple you'd expect grease, etc, but no, they were able to make it as clean as a plate of salad. There wasn't a speck of grease on the plate. It was so cleanly made but so filled with flavor. And their side sauces...like their house made chipotle? dipping sauce, and house made berry jam, were the cherry on top. So flavorful and so addicting, each bite had flavors that honestly brought back memories from amazing meals of the past. I've always heard great things about Silver Queen Cafe, but had never gone, this was my first time there and it certainly won't be my last. Can't wait to come back and try the patty melt on rye or the fried chicken sandwhich or the blueberry and lemon French toast. Other tables were getting those and they looked incredible! So happy to have found this place. We will be back many more times for sure. Please keep in mind this is a small restaurant but you can make reservations. We just walked in, we had to wait about 10 mins but lucky for us a table was leaving. We were greated when we arrived and checked on by our server multiple times The drinks were amazing and pretty strong. The food was alright but there were things that weren't cooked like we asked. For example my eggs were supposed to be medium but they were very hard no runny yolk. The pancake I had was delicious. The home fries were okay but kind of dry. The ketchup made them better. So, this was my second time visiting this establishment and this time we were able to sit in and eat. Best decision ever! Such an upgrade from my last experience which was solely carryout due to the pandemic. The inside of Silver Queen is quaint. The floral wallpaper feature wall was my favorite. They also have a cute little bar in the back with a huge selection. The bar may be small but the drinks are mighty. Everyone working was very attentive and friendly. They seemed to have such nice personalities. Every dish coming out of the kitchen was freshly prepared and could be customized (within reason and for an upcharge) to your liking. The food does not sit in a window waiting for your server to come get it. It goes from preparation to plate to table. No waiting necessary so the food comes out piping hot. We ordered the Lemon Rosemary Fizz with Tequila and Cider Sangria for drinks, Disco Duck Fries for an app, and the Five Cheese Pizza and Burger for our mains. The Disco Duck Fries *chef's kiss* they were the perfect balance of richness, crisp, salt, and comfort. It could be a well balanced meal in itself-a for sure, must try! The pizza, too, was amazing. The dough was fresh. Like hand stretched and tossed in the back. The blend of cheeses was perfect for an epic cheese pull. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her burger with a side of garlic fries. Oh, and it was FRESH garlic on those fries. None of that garlic powder nonsense. Based on today's experience, I'll absolutely be back. What I love and appreciate is the seasonal and weekly changing of the Silver Queen menu. So you'll always have options and never get bored. I also love that everything is freshly prepared and made in-house-from the syrups used in drinks to the food presented in front of you. This place is amazing, don't say I didn't warn you.
