I stopped by The Chasseur one Wednesday for Euchre. I arrived hours before the games were to start to practice playing. That said, the staff were so friendly to me, and the bartender made some really good food suggestions right off the bat. I was freezing and really just wanted something warm to start so I had a coffee. I'd moved up to the 3rd floor by this time and it has a ton of garage doors up there, so not a warm spot on a cold night. After the coffee, I needed more warmth and had ordered the soup of the day, I believe it was chicken tortilla. When it arrived it smelled heavenly and tasted just as good! Wish I'd gotten the bowl instead of the cup! Payment was easy. Overall, great experience and I'll be back for Euchre next week. Stopped into the chasseur on a warm Friday evening. Parking may be a little tricky as it is all street spots. The ground level is a bar and if you go up the stairs to the left you'll find ample seating on their rooftop with bathrooms on the middle floor. We ordered one of their tequila flights which was super fun to do. They have lots of specialty drinks on their menu and a full bar. We got the crabby tots to start which were extremely cheesy and heavy. I ordered the crab Mac which was tasty but I didn't enjoy the big chunky onions inside, I also found a lot of crab shell while eating. My friend got the cheesesteak and he ate every bite! Service is fast as it seems the servers float around the dining area and cover all tables. The upstairs dining area gives you a beautiful view of the city especially on sunny days. The restaurant also hosts live music and events occasionally. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area! read more

Went here for brunch on a Saturday and it was amazing. The chicken and waffles and the espresso martinis are to die for. I've been here for dinner as well and have always had a good experience. The service is great, the atmosphere is lively yet relaxed and I love the vibe. read more

Let's get something out of the way. The food is good. Calling it "New American" is a major fail, it's pub food. Unusually good pub food, with a couple of fusion Korean twists, with a cocktail menu that is imaginative, working with lower end spirits, but at least a step up from Fridays. But in a pinch, it's a pleasant experience, and the food tastes good. And the prices... well, they're ambitious for a dive bar, but not really upscale. I'd say they're not unreasonable for what they are. The ambiance is not great. Sports bar, a little cramped, but doing their best with the layout. TV screens everywhere. Some thin layers of grime on surfaces, especially on and around the stairway. Don't touch the walls, just trust me. A place to go hang with the gang, not really a great date setting. Our server was great. At least, during the meal. He kind of vanished right about the time that we noticed the little fly in the ointment. See, it's a small thing. I mean, proportionately, it's a small thing. We're not lavish people, we don't spend often, but when we do eat out, we'll order appetizers, entrees, drinks, and tip above the standard 20%, sometimes well above. But we pay attention to what we're being charged, and where those charges go... it's a matter of principle. Are the employees being fairly compensated? And we pay special attention to deceptive service fees. If there's anything shady, we read the fine print, and generally just walk out before ordering. There was nothing listed. Not on the menu, not on a Visa/MasterCard logo on the window. Yeah, so, the bill came. We gave them a card. The bill came back to sign... with an additional fee for the card. With no prior disclosure. Check the comptroller's page, there's an entirely unambiguous requirement on businesses. Unlike some states, they're allowed to charge a fee (up to a limit that the bill got right up to) for credit cards. But they may only do so if they prominently disclose this in advance of any point where you may commit to spending. Both written and spoken disclosure. Okay, maybe they're just ignorant of this requirement? Our server had entirely vanished at this point. We flagged down someone else, and, to be absolutely sure we hadn't missed the required disclosure (Because maybe someone wasn't clear on the meaning of "prominent"? Note that English is very clearly the first language of this place's manager.), we inquired. Confusion. Bemusement, even. We explained about our concern. The employee (who had been acting as hostess) informed is that this was "normal" and acted as if we had sprouted additional heads. We asked for the manager. Eventually, a young woman, radiating "understudy for a stage adaptation of Mean Girls" vibes, emerges from the back office. After some condescending dismissive statements about "corporate policy" and "standard practices", she proceeds to go back into the office, then reemergence with the cash total of this overcharge. Not. The. Point. We're not the people this shady business practice really hurts. We just don't like it when dishonest businesses push the envelope on whatever they can get away with. Baltimore isn't a city that's good at strongly enforcing consumer protections, and any business that's brazenly violating in one place because nobody's going to stop them is undoubtedly doing so in other places too. Substituting liquor? Who knows. Forging safety inspections? Wouldn't shock me. Cavalier transgressions are never in isolation. Which is a shame, because, ambiance aside, this was a decent bar/casual restaurant, with food that tasted better than average for what it was. We would have been back. read more

Things started off pretty good. There was a little confusion over top floor availability, but NBD. I have no complaints regarding the food or the initial service. Let's fast forward to receiving the bill. It was a little over $100, and everything checked out. Then I get my receipt - which has a surprise credit card fee. "But Reese," you're probably asking, "how can a credit card fee be a surprise?" I'll tell you how -- there was absolutely no disclosure about this magical fee. I literally got up and walked around the restaurant to check to make sure that I hadn't missed the LEGALLY REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF BALTIMORE (and possibly Maryland?) sign disclosing that there would be a credit card fee, but alas there was none. It was not on the menu or the bill, either. (I took pictures.) Personally, I'm not a fan of illegal and unethical surprises OR feeling as though a business is trying to pull one over on me. For the record, we are talking about a mere $3, but for me, it's the goddamn principle of the thing. And since I'm very big about the goddamn principle of the thing, I was compelled to say something. Narrator: It does not get better at this point from a customer service or legality standpoint. I asked if someone could please show me the sign disclosing their credit card fee, and ho, boy, they act as though we are inconveniencing them by not wanting to get ripped off. "Well no one else has ever said anything (and we're so used to behaving this way that I'm offended you've called us out)". Eventually we get a manager or someone who hands over the cash along with the incredibly asinine comment "this is standard for businesses" and I guess maybe it is if you've never eaten in a real restaurant before? Or if you're running the kind of business that relies upon most of its customers being too drunk to notice such poor behavior. It was a really disappointing end to an otherwise lovely experience. read more

To be honest, they have basic bar food--and not the best you've ever had--but the service was efficient and friendly, and I enjoyed the vibes inside. They also have a bottomless brunch, although I did not experience it. GLOWS: - They have 3 floors inside the restaurant, with the middle floor being an airy balcony vibe with garage door windows and bar with various sports games playing. The highest floor is a small roof top that you can sit out on and relax. -The chocolate chip cookies and ice cream dessert was really good -Delicious hand cut fries -They have grilled wings on the menu.. My food was delicious. I got the Brulee'd French Toast and cream of crab soup. They both were delicious . One of my girlfriends got the avocado toast and assumed that it was going to be blended. However they had avocado slices on top of toast. She didn't like it. My other girlfriend got the chicken and waffles. However, the chicken piece was huge and she didn't like what they breaded it with so they both to sent their items back. One of the replacement dishes was the tacos and she preferred that over the avocado toast. Service: our waitress Maddie was awesome. She was very attentive and pleasant. Saw on their website that Monday nights were half off burgers for dine in, but when I went to order, the waitress said that there were no food specials, which was disappointing. Instead I ordered a buffalo flatbread that was pretty good, but had a lot of sauce, I personally would have preferred a drizzle of buffalo sauce. I also got a raspberry lemonade crush for $6 which was incredibly strong and only tasted like vodka, which in my college days I would have really appreciated, but on a monday night it was a lot. We always passed by here and never had a chance to stop in so we finally came for dinner on a Friday night to check out the place. Both the downstairs and upstairs have bar and table seating. The weather had turned chilly already, so the upstairs walls were closed off with windows. We had no problems getting a table right away even though some had been reserved already. We ordered drinks, and the staff was very attentive to preferences. The spicy cauliflower shareable was delicious and delivered the spice it promised so don't underestimate this dish! We each had a sandwich, a salmon BLT and a turkey BLT. The brioche bun on the salmon sandwich was soft, sweet, and perfect to complement the savory, flavorful salmon and crispy turkey. The turkey BLT was enormous! The white bread could have been a bit more toasted. There was a very generous layering of turkey along with cheddar in this BLT twist. The bacon was again nice and crispy. The fries were perfectly salted and had some crunch though most were a bit soft. So on our weekly date night she decided to take us to the Chasseur. It was a nice little lounge off of Eastern Avenue. It wasn't too pack but had a nice crowd so I'm figuring that how we lucked up & found a parking spot right outside of the front door. We were seated very quick & our waitress was very good wit getting our orders in. For an appetizer I elected to get the Maryland half & half crab soup. It was pretty but needed a little pepper added but nice portions of crab meat so that's a win in my book. Next I went wit the grilled chicken Sammy now listen when I say this thing was delicious the melted pepper jack cheese was the thing that pushed it over the edge. I've only ever been here on Tuesday nights for taco Tuesdays so I can't speak to the rest of the menu. What I can say is that their Tuesday night specials are definitely worth the visit. Tacos are $2 each and you can choose from beef, chorizo, chicken, and pork. I enjoyed the pork the most and perhaps others do too because both times I've been here those are the first to sell out. The chorizo tacos are a bit too salty for my tastes. They also run drink specials on Tuesday nights as well which my guests said were a great value. If you head upstairs, you're treated to a pretty nice view of Canton. I'll come back on another day and try their regular menu at some point but if you're really hungry and don't feel like spending a ton, coming in on a Tuesday night is the move. Came here on a Sunday evening with a group of friends -- seems like a lot of other restaurants all close their kitchens early on Sunday evenings, but luckily The Chausseur did not! I've been to the downstairs bar area before, but never knew that they had a large upstairs area that has a more restaurant feel that bar ambiance. Loved all of the windows upstairs. We loved the view of Baltimore! Most of the people in our group were not from Baltimore, so it was definitely a treat to be able to dine with a few. Some friends and I came here for brunch on Sunday because I saw the head endless mimosas, sangria, beermosas, crushes, and bloody mary. Yeah, that's why we went lol I went with the Chesapeake hash and started off with their poinsettia Mimosa which is a mimosa made with cranberry juice. I was not feeling that one at all and our waitress was happy to replace it with a sangria instead. I ended up having to change it to just one purchase because that sangria by itself did be in. I was feeling it. I did notice they had a seasoning on the regular potatoes which wasn't on mine because I believe my potatoes were sweet potatoes in my hash. The ladies enjoyed their food one had got the Chesapeake Benedict and the other guy the breakfast burger. I called 3 days before to make a reservation for Sunday brunch (they don't do online reservations). I was able to make the reservation with no hassle. The night before our brunch, we had to modify our brunch reservations and luckily without fail we were able to do so! Come Sunday brunch- hooooooly sheet! This places was packed! I'm assuming this is one of the few places in Baltimore that are still doing bottomless brunches. Me and my friend decided to do bottomless brunch ('cause obviously). She claimed her bloody Mary's weren't doing the job. However, my 3 mimosas and 1 sangria seemed to be hitting the spot. We ordered 3 biscuits for each of us. They were warm and fluffy, but it only came with butter. There was no jam or anything else to compliment the saltiness of the biscuit. I ordered the mac n' cheese with the bacon and sausage on the side. I was skeptical that they wouldn't accommodate to my dietary restrictions (vegetarian), but she was able to! Nothing to rave about the mac n cheese however. I honestly just went for the drinks! I do wish they had more vegetarian options. I would definitely make my way back there if there were more vegetarian options on the brunch menu. Prices are reasonable and bottomless is only $20! We love a place that doesn't just have mimosas and bloodys! *As per COVID regulations - they are taking it pretty strictly. We all had to sign in before sitting at our table. I stumbled upon this place on one of my ME days and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have weekend happy hours. Each time ive been ive sat downstairs at the bar, there is always space and the bartenders are semi attentive which is nice when your with friends, they tend to leave you alone. The food is fine, nothing special but I wouldnt ending anything back to the kitchen. The best part is the drinks, they have fun drinks on the menu but the bartenders are fun and like to put their own spin on things which helps the experience. Its located in the middle of a residential area, across from a school so parking on the weekends (during the day) is pretty easy, i can imagine it gets dicey at night. overall its a great little neighborhood place and they will likely be seeing a lot of me. read more

Weirdly, they were "out of stock" of the hummus burger and the pulled pork sandwich. Instead, We got the chicken sandwich, which was not bad but not the best chicken sandwich I've had. The chicken itself was perfectly crispy, the sauces delicious and complimentary to the chicken, but the biscuit was very dry and didn't add anything to the overall sandwich. It probably would've been better on a brioche bun or other type of bread. It came with fries, which were sprinkled with cheese. Again, not bad but not great. Thin, a little soggy, but still tasty. This place has a fun boozy brunch vibe on Sunday and great food! We started with the bottomless mimosas (not very strong, but good). The deal goes until 3pm. We also got a dozen oysters which were delicious. The breakfast Mac and Cheese is a must try! I have never tried something like It before. Went for a Sunday brunch with the ladies and had a great time. Breakfast mac n cheese... y-u-m. I could have that every day and very content. Mac n cheese with sausage is delish enough, then add 2 fried eggs and some maple syrup and it all works together very well. I'm not a fan of syrup on pancakes/waffles/etc, but the sweetness of the syrup and saltiness of the cheese just worked so well. They do have bottomless mimosas for $20, which I normally go for but didnt this day. The place was overall very quiet, with the bar tender doubling as our server. It made drink service a little slow. The food was so disgusting and unflavorable. I ordered the cream of crab soup, fried chicken sandwich, flatbread pizza and burger. The ONLY thing that was good was the fries. I also ordered a lemon drop martini with vodka. It tasted horrible. My boyfriend and I tried to close with 2 shots of Tito's and was advised they only had some off brand vodka. Due to all things Covid, I haven't had the opportunity to truly experience Chasseur in it's full glory so this review is based strictly on the phenomenal bacon jam burger they offer... Getting right to it: There are some excellent, hype-worthy burgers in the Patterson Park neighborhood. My husband and I have sampled at least three different top notch local burgers, and with each one we were confident we'd found "the one". In light of this tough competition, it's not exactly easy to declare that Chasseur's bacon jam burger has won me over and solidified itself as first place in my heart. The burger itself is juicy and filled with flavor due to the various components (smoked gouda, a delicious creation of bacon jam, aioli, lettuce, tomato, and a fluffy but well structured brioche bun) and it would absolutely still qualify for the top spot on it's own but there are a couple other factors that cement it's blue ribbon status. The burger is paired with a classic side of fries. These fries are crispy, thin and have a bit of potato skin left unpeeled. Just how I like them. Other contenders fries just fall short IMO (I am not a fan of sidewinder or double fried fries, sorry!) Lastly, Chasseur offers half-priced burgers on Monday evenings which makes this amazing burger also an amazing deal, once a week. Even if you go another day of the week and pay the full, regular price it's still delicious and affordable. read more
