I really wanted to like El Bufalo because I love tacos but I wasn't impressed. The best way to explain my experience was bland. Service was great and bartenders checked on us often but that was the only highlight. The margarita honestly tasted like salted lime water and the steak on my taco was chewy. There also wasn't much flavor within the taco. The hot sauce I added was the only reason it tasted ok. My date had the Nashville hot chicken burrito and he enjoyed it. El Buf is a Canton staple. Always fun for a night out. I also like their huevos rancheros for brunch, very yummy chips! The outside tent is such a great spot in the spring and fall seasons. There was an interesting fragrance in the air and staff did not seem thrilled to serve. We stayed. As we ordered, I noticed that there was a cloth napkin atop the area of silverware. Not in a protective way but as a it was used and thrown there. We ordered apps and dinner. The food left much to be desired. The queso was gross. I'm not sure how to describe it. The salsa was watery and flavorless, the guacamole was actually good and the tortillas worked. I can't speak for the dinner of the rest of the table. I tried to play it safe with a Ceaser salad. Margaritas are GREAT and I love the crispy chicken tacos. They have neon signs throughout the entire bar which make beyond beyond look really cool. El Bufalo came highly recommended by one of my Yelp Elite friends. After her rave review, I had to give them a try. My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend and decided to do some restaurants hoping. El Bufalo was the first on our list. We opted to sit outside of the restaurant, on their makeshift patio. The inside was fairly crowded, plus it was a really nice day out. The seating is best, as the concrete the chairs and tables sat on was uneven, but that's was a very small inconvenience. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress as soon as we chose a seat. She was not only cordial, she was very knowledgeable, explaining menu items and making suggestions when solicited. We actually had two waitresses, but were equally as amazing. We ordered the Strawberry Margarita and Colada En Fuego cocktail to start, as well as the Queso Blanco Dip with the jerk beef. The drinks were excellent, nice and strong as they should be. The dip was very good and the chips with a sparkle of tajin were also delicious. For our main course, we ordered the 6 Taco Tasting Tour which was chef's choice. Our tour included the Nashville Hot, jerk Ground Beef, Grilled Fish, Carnitas, Marinated Skirt Steak and the Steak Rancheros tacos. While I enjoyed some tacos more than others, each of them were quite tasty. I really enjoyed my visit to El Bufalo! The ambience, the staff, the drinks, the food, everything was A1! This is one of my favorite spots in canton--good food, good drinks, good vibes. My favorite food thing on the menu is for sure The Nashville burrito. It literally has Nashville hot chicken AND Mac and cheese INSIDE the burrito!!!! Also it says very spicy but I didn't think it was thaaaat spicy. But I also have a pretty high spice tolerance. My other fave thing is the nachos, I love getting them with the chorizo. They are seriously loaded and easily feeds myself and 2 of my friends. Drinks: their margaritas are amazing. All of them. We pieced together a few of them (fish, steak, al pastor). I liked the concept of the platter (variety with chips, guacamole). However, I think because they were so busy, the majority of the meat was burnt/overcooked. We didn't say anything at the time, but it was a little disappointing. Attending a planned happy hour outing, I honestly if not for our event being hosted at the location I don't think I would choose El Bufalo on my own - the happy hour wasn't that happy-only offering tiny cheap beers-ignoring anything cocktails or local craft. When ordering a drink, it took a pretty decent chunk of time standing at the bar waving my hand to order-then the bartender knew nothing about the beers on tap (what style they were-what price, so I ended up getting shafted with a $9 hefeweizen they said was a $5 ipa)- then the margarita classic my husband got was over iced and barely any booze We didn't eat at the event, because glancing at the menu while they boast 'mexican' and 'gringo' style, growing up with authentic Mexican eats, even their Mexican menu was still pretty gringo-based. Also overpriced, and tiny plates- Glad to have spent time with some friends, but wish they picked a better venue, and I will definitely speak up if anyone suggests going here again to opt out. read more

This is my second visit here, but I forgot to write my review the first go round. Both visits were amazing although parking was a challenge. BEST NACHOS IN THE CITY! Tasty and FULLY loaded. The Korean beef taco (insert chef's kiss) cooked to perfection and its spicy too. The food is prepared fresh. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Drinks are good. If you are a tequila lover, this is the place for you. Servers are fun and seat you quickly. It gets very busy on the weekend. There is outdoor seating and seating on the first and second floor. In addition to the great food and drinks, you should stay and experience the sunset tequila shot. (It's a FREE tequila shot). I just visited El Bufalo (El Buf) this past weekend with some friends. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and having sat in the outside area in 20 degree winter weather I can say the outside seating was very pleasant! It was tented and heated, and there were even tv's where we could watch the playoff games! The drinks here were pretty good! I got a seasonal cocktail that was hot chocolate based (forgot the name) and it was very good! They also had some pretty good looking margaritas on their menu too. The food was solid. We shared a salsa trio and they came with their cooked corn tortilla chips. I liked the mango salsa, and the roja and verde were good too. I got the Teriyaki Burrito as a main, but I wasn't that impressed. It was good but the burrito was mostly filled with rice and didn't have much meat. It was also smaller than what I like, about the size of my cocktail cup. Next time I'll try the tacos or I also heard the Nashville hot chicken is pretty good. How are you a Tequila Bar and don't even offer a house marg on special for HH. We were only coming for Happy Hour, but needless to say we had one pity drink and this was only to make the time it took looking for parking worth our visit. The drinks were okay but certainly not worth being in my camera roll. So I have pics of the establishment because the decor was pretty cool and social media worthy. Oh my... Third time we have tried food here. Once in person, and twice via takeout. First time we went in person. It was a fun atmosphere, and we've always liked this location in its various incarnations. But the food wasn't the main reason we went. This was a social event with a close friend and we had fun in general. Nothing memorable about the food stuck out. The second time we ordered takeout and got some of the generic items. Tacos and quesadillas and the like. The food was OK... Nothing special but nothing particularly bad either. I remember commenting that it seemed like we spent a decent amount of money for food that wasn't really better than similarly priced (or even cheaper alternatives) in the area... and that better options existed. This most recent time was the last straw. We ordered takeout via the toast app. The estimated time for food preparation was listed as 25 minutes... On a Tuesday. This seemed odd, but I figured perhaps they were busy. Of note, all we ordered was one chicken quesadilla, one Carnitas burrito, guacamole, and some salsa and chips. The first issue was that when I arrived after 25 minutes I was told that it would be another five minutes for the food. Five minutes turned to 10 and then 15. At the end they told me they were simply waiting on the guacamole... Which then took another 5 minutes. I understand the guacamole is made by hand, but that could've been prepared in the beginning while waiting on the other dishes. Regardless waiting 45 minutes for food that was estimated at 25 minutes on a not-busy Tuesday night (the bar was definitely not full) was a bit frustrating. I got home with the food, and the real trouble began. The chips were beyond salty. I do not know how to describe the experience. I think that if I was a 100 pack-year smoker who was riproaring drunk, perhaps I would not have noticed how salty these chips were. And it was a lime/chili salt so it was tangy, salty, and just way too much. We had to dust off each chip on both sides by hand aggressively before they were edible. The salsa was just OK. The guacamole was just OK. I ate half my burrito... It was pretty bland to be honest. Nothing special. My wife's quesadilla was also not amazing. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not worth the price or wait. After she had had one section, we traded dishes. I picked up the quesadilla, pulled a piece off the end, and sat there shocked. Inside the quesadilla was a clear long strand of human hair. I immediately looked at my wife and we both picked up all the food that was left and threw it away. By the next morning my wife had profound G.I. distress. This was not subtle... This was food poisoning. She barely made it to the bathroom at work. Never again will we eat at this establishment. I would recommend you take your hard earned money and go elsewhere. read more

My friend and I shared the six-taco tasting tour and the carne asada fries. The tasting tour came with a variety of tacos (selected by the chef) and an order of chips with guac and salsa ($25). Although I usually prefer to choose my own tacos, I was pleasantly satisfied with the chef's selection. We basically got one of every meat: steak, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, and beef. Every taco hit the spot. As for the carne asada fries ($15), gas. Enough said. Overall, El Buff is a must try restaurant to dine-in if you are new to Canton Square (especially if there's a game on). If you're not new to Canton square, then you're probably already a regular here. Warning: Since most people are drinking, it gets extremely loud at the bar downstairs. This place has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and I am glad I finally got a chance to make it in. Decided to meet a good girlfriend for brunch before we did our supermarket shopping. We kept it pretty simple for brunch, considering we had other places to be, but their menu is pretty extensive and lots to choose from, from your Tex-Mex favorites to your traditional breakfast favorites. Their hamburgers also looked good too. So me and my best friend decided on the crab and kale omelette, which comes with home fries. I really don't know why but I loved El Bufalo - it might have been the name, the really big windows, the margs (apparently they have mega ones which I'm excited to go back and try out), or just the vibe in general, but I loved it! I've been to El Bufalo a few times and each experience was okay. There was nothing necessarily wrong with the bar/restaurant but nothing to entice me to return. They have nice events like local art openings and drag brunch that are the only reasons I have returned. I most recently came here for Drag Brunch (1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month) which I would recommend. It was $20 for bottomless mimosas as long as you purchase food. The bartenders were great and kept the drinks flowing. The brunch was interactive and entertaining just do not expect to enjoy any conversation with your group since music is blasting and there are obvious more entertaining distractions. You absolutely need to bring dollars bills to share with the performers. As for the food during brunch, it was okay; however, I wouldn't get what I ordered again. I feel like this place has a lot of potential and is in a great location especially with the windows that open during the summer. I hope they continue to host events similar to what I've listed above to give me more reasons to go. The meal came with three pancakes with bacon, sausage, 2 eggs any style and home fries. - Scrambled eggs. A+ - Pancakes. Fluffy and large. A+ - Pork sausage.
