Super cute spot offering scrumptious tacos and mouth-watering drinks. I came in wanting to get take-out and decided to order the ribeye tacos with a side of pina salsa. The service was a bit slow, but there was only one person doing bar and taking orders, so she was getting everyone as fast as she could. Since I got takeout I didn't get to try their drink selection, but they looked absolutely divine. The tacos had an amazing flavor and the onions were caramelized to perfection, but overall it was a bit dry. There was a crema on top, but it didn't help to add moisture. The pina salsa was incredible though-- you can tell they use fresh pineapple instead of canned, and it wasn't spicy at all. The to-go order even came with a really cute branded bag! I would definitely recommend this spot. However next time I go, I would get some extra sauce on the side to make up for the dryness. read more

Spent New Years in Baltimore and was having a lot of trouble finding food on New Years night. Stumbled across this taco spot, the three stars were definitely from the ambiance, the music was great, everyone was super friendly. Decided to take the food to-go since they were closing soon. I had a lovely time at the Papi's Tacos of Fells Point! I ordered a traditional margarita with a spicy salty rim, YUM! And I also ordered 2 tacos (1 extra for Taco Tuesday free) of Gringo Style veggie tacos. The queso topping on the tacos was so delicious! I am pleasantly surprised to see they have a $5 frozen margarita special as a way to beat the heat. Well that was surely refreshing! Okay the reason I really can't give this place 5 stars is because there's essentially no option for those of us who genuinely have a genetic deficiency for spicy food. I know, I'm lame. This restaurant however is DEFINITELY not!! The staff and servers have always been consistently great, upbeat and very pleasant. It has this amazing vibe that is casual, but so we'll put together you can still bring a business partner! I've come here with a variety of guests and just about all have truly enjoyed the experience. So while I haven't brought kids here, just make sure to ask anyone interested if they're okay with spice. Papi's Tacos is a solid choice in the Fells Point neighborhood if you're craving casual Mexican street food. I try to take advantage of their happy hours. One thing I love about Baltimore in general is that most bars/restaurants offer a decent food menu with deals during their happy hour, in addition to drinks of course. The service I've received here has always been solid, no complaints. I would say this location is a bit unique in that the left side is your typical bar seating and the right side is more of your dining room seating for larger groups. Overall papi's tacos is a cute vibe for a relaxed dinner with friends. The drinks are tasty - I had a spicy margarita. The food is just ok. We ordered the yuca fries and house guac to start. The house guac was a bit underwhelming as it seemed to just be mashed avocado (with a large piece of unmasked avocado too). The yuca fries were probably the best thing I ate. As for the vegetarian tacos, they were quite dry and in need of some more flavor. The concept sounded delicious, but the fried components just made the whole thing bland. Papi's Tacos - oh boy. I understand the need for Americanized food - many people are not accustomed to certain foods and spices and are not comfortable diving straight into the authentic sources. However, The food served here needed that spirit to be fully manifested and embraced in the food they serve. The Birria tacos especially left a lot to be desired as the filling was minimal and the consommé was dilute. Birria tacos are one of the foods that definitely needs some TLC as not putting your best foot forward for these tacos a disservice to its status in the Mexican food arena. Aside from the tacos, the chips were fine - they definitely know how to make a white Queso dip. It's plenty cheesy, flavor packed, and rich. We just searched happy hours in Baltimore and Papi's Tacos popped up ... you literally NEVER think about Mexican when in Baltimore because Baltimore is all about crabs and seafood but the reviews were great so we said LET's DO IT! My friend and I came here as a last minute option because we wanted sangrias and saw Papi's Tacos had them. I hadn't been back here since prior to Covid so it was good to check it out again. We sat indoors as it was a pretty windy day out. To start, we got their sangrias (red option only). They came out foamy which was weird and it tasted fine at the beginning. It did get watered down quickly and tasted too lemony later (there were lemons in the sangria). Not the best sangrias here from our experience. We decided to share their Guac to start and were brought out fresh tortilla chips with salsa as well (the chips and salsa are complimentary to the meal which is nice). The guac was huge and had great flavors - it was delicious and we loved it. We each chose to get the street tacos and share them - I ordered the cod that they had that day while my friend got the chorizo. Since it was Tuesday, they have a taco special which gives you a 3rd free per your 2 taco order (they come 2 per order)! My cod was fried well but in general, there wasn't much flavor to it. The chorizo was super dry and didn't taste that good at all. It was disappointing our tacos weren't all that good or flavorful. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Their specials and prices are quite good but not much to rave about the food or drinks we had. The only thing we really liked were the chips and guac. The service here is pretty good depending on the server you get. They actually got my order completely wrong but were nice when I told the second server and they fixed it. The food itself was alright. They def overestimate the portion sizes but the food is still pretty sizable. The prices are a bit high though imo. $14 for the breakfast burrito tells you mostly everything you need to know. It was a really good burrito. the creamy salsa was very good. the breakfast potatoes also very good. Refried black beans great nuff said. Now for the serious stuff I hope someone at papis is reading this. The rice is ass. It was firm which happens but it also tasted like somebody made it with an old el paso taco seasoning packet. I think there's a highly skilled scandinavian chef in the back who is sick at making tiktok food but not basic mexican food(to be clear and fair, again, the mexican rice is my only gripe rn). Also the "4oz red rice" and the "8oz rice" are labeled differently so I thought i'd get two different types of rice but it was just two tiny containers of not good rice for $10. 5 stars for me still but just order carefully. I probably wouldn't get something like enchiladas or chilaquiles here if that's even on their menu but i'm sure their nachos, burritos, fried items are great. I sat at the bar and the bartender was sociable, attentive, and very helpful with food and beverage selection. I went with the street style tacos - an order of the Camarones and Carne Asada, both gringo style. The Camarones was hands down my favorite. So flavorful!! The meat wasn't as tender as they should have been and could've been a bit more flavorful. It was hard to get a bite without a large chunk of meat coming out of the taco. The meat to cheese ratio was good. The tortilla was nice and crisp. I wish we got more than one lime wedge with the tacos but the avocados on top were nice. I also liked the jalapeño crema and I'm not a big fan of jalapeño. I probably wouldn't order them again. I would come back to try their other tacos and things though. read more

Papi's tacos is always a great place to go when in Fells Point! It was a nice day so we grabbed a table outside, which is decorated with adorable bulb lights! It's in a pretty busy part of Fells Point so there were lots of people walking by during our meal-- they also have a more private back patio which was closed while we were there. They started us off with some complimentary chips and salsa, which is always delicious! We then ordered the nachos with carne asada which was pretty good-- I'd recommend not adding on protein as I don't think it added much and wasn't worth the extra money. The chips were a bit soggy and I wish the jalapeños had been cut up into smaller pieces rather than just sliced, but the cheese and beans sauce was delicious. The Al pastor tacos (gringo style) were the highlight of the night!!! They were so sweet and savory at the same time, and the gringo style toppings and cream was just delicious! We got the carne asada authentic style which was good as well, just not as flavorful as the Al pastor I'd definitely recommend checking out Papis tacos-- the customizable street tacos is a great way to be sure you get a taco you love, and they have so many different options. I read the reviews, and trusting Yelp, as they RARELY steer me wrong, I chose to trust them in providing my anticipated delicious fajitas! Well friends, the fajita is more of a tacos salad with chopped beef rather than seeded carne asada *. I also added chicken, which was a shredded chicken rather than traditional fajita style chicken. I consider myself a taco connoisseur and I was slightly disappointed with Papi's chicken tacos. I'm not really a fan of shredded chicken tacos and the tacos were loaded excessively with toppings. I would have liked them much better than with just the traditional meat, onions and cilantro. The elote on the other hand was awesome! I literally devoured each piece within seconds. The corn definitely made of for the tacos. I plan on going back and ordering my tacos without all of the extras, because the flavors could have been so much better without them. Ordered 2 carne asada hard shell tacos and a chicken quesadilla to go 12pm on a Saturday and it was ready within 15 min. The two tacos would have been a good appetizer. For a full meal, I'd probably order 4. The Casa salsa was a classic salsa that was more about the taste than heat. My favorite was the chicken quesadilla. Usually can't go wrong with quesadillas but this one was just A+. Parking was a little bit of a challenge so we ended up finding a nearby garage for $9/hour. Only 7ish min walk away. We live right by Papis and haven't been! Until last weekend. It was truly awesome, as we didn't even realize they had a courtyard that was covered in the back which became an unexpectedly nice ambiance. My husband and I ordered the tacos birria, chicken tinga quesadilla, and al pastor tacos created on the "create your own taco" menu. We both got the skinny margaritas which I thought were well balanced and not too sweet. So so good. Very flavorful. The tacos birria are a must and the chicken tinga quesadilla was flavorful and well made. Those were our favorites. The chips were a little stale but the waitress happily brought us a new batch that tasted better. We look forward to coming back for that burrito that looks amazing on all these posts and for happy hour!
