Look down so you don't miss the entrance. - A downward staircase with black steps and white paneling on the sides, leading to Anchor Bar, with a sign overhead that says "As low as You Can Go."

I experienced this place during an eggnog crawl and I'm so happy I found it. The space is tiny but it has bar and banquet seating. It really gives speakeasy feels. I doubt it has food, but I can't wait to come back and have a drink and listen to the stories that this father and son team spin.

I have been coming to fells a very, very long time and, of course, been familiar with The Admiral Fell Inn, but I had no clue the Anchor Bar was in the basement. After being closed for 3 years, they re-opened last August, and boy am I glad.. After descending the steps & round the corner, you are met with the smell..sights & sounds of what can only be interpreted as a Speakeasy.. Leather barstools, dark corners, and a bar lined with craft liquor.. I was greeted by the sweetest goosh darn bartender I have met in my life.. Steve has been with Anchor bar for a lot of years, and aside from making a kick butt drink, he has tales of Fells from yesteryear... I didn't partake in food.. don't think they offer any, but this experience was the BEST I have had in a very long time. The drinks were absolutely amazing..fragrant.. clean..refreshing and thoughtfully put together. It never got crowded, but it was always a steady stream of patrons all who seemed to know & be familiar with the place... Steve is amazing and makes an establishment thts already outstanding to the next LEVEL!!!

Empty Fabulous French 75

If cozy had a picture next to it in the dictionary, it would look like Anchor Bar. We loved heading downstairs (underground) to the bar, with its low and moody lighting, impeccably dressed and attentive bartender, excellent music selection, and delicious drinks. We didn't take photos of the before (shame on us) but the Fabulous French 75 was the best I've ever had. If you're in search of a cozy, low key, old-soul bar- come grab a drink!

What a hidden gem! Our bartender Steve really made us feel welcome and accommodated. It's a little bar beneath the Admiral Fell Inn, and while it might not look like much it sure has a big history, and STRONG drinks! Steve has so many amazing stories about celebrities he's served in this bar, along with the history of the city, and his own fascinating life. My husband and I would go again just for that alone. We were here on a Wednesday night, and got to chat with several local folks which made for a delightful evening.

Stopped into Anchor Bar after a night out in Fells Point. What a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is something special in this little bar. The space feels reminded us of a speakeasy. The super friendly and entertaining bartender Steven was great. We ordered a dirty martini and espresso martini and they were both delicious. Would highly recommend stopping in Anchor Bar for a drink or two if you're in the Fells Point area. Really great addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to see what Chef Alfred has in store for 2023!

Favorite bar in the area. Small and cozy. The bartender made our drinks methodically with lots of attention. Did not see any food.

Instead of applying the BOGO to each pair, they only removed the cheapest rolls overall, which made the "BOGO" deal feel misleading. Service also wasn't great. We asked our bartender for the check, she said okay, then walked away to eat and talk with other customers, so we had to ask another bartender to help us. Good sushi, but the promotion and service left a bad impression.

After 10 minutes of trying to get a bartender's or waiter's attention, we left. Months, later, we were craving sushi and decided to try again. This time we sat at the bar which is spacious enough and were helped immediately. Even though we wanted sushi, I couldn't resist the cheesesteak eggroll which was very good and came out hot. While it was a little oily, it was still tasty and enjoyable. We order 3 rolls and the fried Oreos to go and while I recommend the Oreos and cheesesteak eggrolls, I can't recommend the sushi here. The spicy tuna tasted canned, and the trio roll was way too fishy. The volcano was the best, but also just okay. You also don't get any ginger with your rolls. I think this place is better as a regular bar, but for an advertised sushi spot, it doesn't have great sushi.

The service from the bartenders was not so great or welcoming. When I asked about the espresso martini and asked for it without lavender, the bartender made way too big of a deal. The espresso martini is pre-made. I opted for a vodka soda and it was pretty hard to drink. The menu feels limited. They do not have pineapple, Red Bull, or many other popular mixes. Positively, prices are very good, especially compared to the other bars in the area. I would like to go back and try the food because it smelled amazing and hopefully find something better to drink on the menu that I like!

There's a back area, sort of like a dinning room, with little booths for those wishing for some privacy. The red lights gives the bar that good old 1920s (prohibition) feel. I felt at any moment the authorities would swing through the door forcing us to hide our drinks. **Wild thoughts** Kyle made a cocktail he's "been working on" and he needs to put that shxt on the menu asap! So delicious. It was late night and I stayed here about an hour (closed the spot ha) and I was able to enjoy a mini impromptu concert by another patron Ebony, as Kyle was sweet enough to play some of her music. All in all, a perfect end to my evening. High recommendation for Rye. The End.

Note, my daughter had put ketchup on plate before realizing the oversight. So, when the MANAGER brought the food back, I'm thinking it was a show of good faith given the error. Nope. He had a smug attitude and puts the plate on the table where I immediately notice the original plate was reused because it had the ketchup smear. I asked him if this was the same sent back plate of food and he said "yes" and said the added the avocado. They UNWRAPPED the original wrap and just added the avocado and brought the entire plate back. I immediately questioned how that follows food handling guidelines. If they weren't going to redo the order, they could have just brought avocado slices to the table! The MANAGER had a very dismissive, RUDE attitude and so I sent everything back and left. I did tip the waitress cash because she was great and had got us drinks by that point. Again, she was nice and side-eyed the manager agreeing what he did was not acceptable. Apparently he also had a rep for being rude and nasty. I will never eat there again. You have a kitchen with seafood and meats and have no food handling controls? Yeah, miss me with the risk of food poisoning or cross-contamination. No thank you! You're rude to customers and have no standards? Whoever runs the kitchen should know better as should the manager. I can only imagine what else goes on in that kitchen. Dine there at your own risk.

I actually found Union Hill while planning my friend's 40th birthday dinner from another state, and from the moment I reached out, everything just flowed. I inquired about hosting a dinner and one of the owners, Matt, got back to me within a day. From there, the planning felt effortless. He answered all my questions, stayed in communication, and really helped bring the whole vision together. We had close to 30 people for the dinner in one of their private dining areas, and when I say the staff was impeccable... they were ON IT. My friend had no idea where she was going, so this was a full surprise. Once we gave the staff the green light, they were ready and immediately started accommodating everyone. Everything just flowed from there. We did family-style appetizers, which I loved because everyone got to try a little bit of everything. Everything was flavorful and came out at the perfect pace. For my entrée, I had the salmon and it was so good. And listen... I hosted the whole thing, ate there that night, AND still had leftovers to take home. That's always a win. They were also super accommodating leading up to the event. I was able to drop off the cake and cake pops the evening before, and I was even able to decorate the private dining area, which made everything feel really personal. What could have easily been a stressful experience ended up feeling seamless. The restaurant atmosphere is beautiful. The private dining area worked perfectly for our group, and they even have an upstairs outdoor area as well as a downstairs outdoor space, which I didn't get to experience this time but definitely want to the next time I go back. I'm so grateful I came across Union Hill Kitchen & Craft Bar. It made such a special occasion even better.
