This is my new favorite place. From the drinks, to the food, to the service, we had so much fun here oh my goodness. It's so wonderful to come across genuine people who are funny and kind in this world. Our server and the owner were so fun and so funny and so nice. It truly felt like visiting a friends restaurant. The vibes are homey, almost feels like a library but not quite, very cozy very comfy. Food: Tomato Mozarella, this was my two fav things in one. Tomato and burrata/mozarella, and prosciutto and melon. Delicious. 10/10. Prawns: so good, so flavorful, and I typically am not a shrimp/prawn girl. Skirt Steak: this was such a juicy and moist (sorry) steak. I don't like chimmichurri (cannot spell that omg) but it was good! The fries were also a winner. Moroccan Hen: this felt like a cookout bbq to be honest but in the best way. It's super flavorful, very smoky, and SO juicy. Good but just okay for the price. Food is hit or miss. Came with a group of 12 for a birthday. A few of us came early and got drinks at the speakeasy upstairs which I definitely recommend! It had a great drink menu and cool vibe. For actual dinner, the restaurant itself had an eclectic menu and swanky decor. The service was spotty. I had to ask for water refills 2x. Also for a group of 12, it took about 7 mins for everyone to be served food. Yes, this is a large party, so you must have several servers come bring the food when you're charging these prices. It should've been a seamless experience but we had several friends waiting on their food while others were halfway through. The food quality itself was hit or miss. The pork belly app was delicious! Crispy and tender. But the octopus was overly chewy and weird. We had 2 dishes with it and both were cooked like that, it wasn't good. The lobster poutine was delicious and went quick. Paella was okay - the shellfish was overcooked and seemingly dried up. Drinks were good and staff was friendly. Overall, there are a lot of kinks to work out. We were to celebrate our friend's birthday. None of us had been here before. Our first impressions of this place were great. Nice ambiance, beautiful decor and the reception was great. They had fixed menu thing going on for $55. Most of opted for that except for one who got lobster chicken pot pie. Highly recommend the lobster chicken pot pie. That's the best thing on their menu. I ordered the mixed kabob dinner. It was ok. Some of the kabob's were pretty dry. My other friend who ordered it didn't even finish half of it. Crab balls were good but too pricey for the portions. Overall 4 stars for the food. Well 3 stars mostly for the service. Some of us got our cocktails much earlier than the others. A restaurant like this you would hope they time it well so we can all start enjoying the drinks around the same. Our food did not come at the same time as well. Some of them had to wait more than 10 mins to get their food. They even forgot a couple of extra drink orders. Also in the end before bringing our check, they were suppose to bring our friend's birthday cake. They forgot about it. We had to remind them about it. A little bit of service training would help. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful! I love the Edgar Allen Poe theme with the lighting and books. It is a really fun and unique restaurant with decor and menu. Very inviting and cozy. After dinner we went through the book shelf to the speakeasy upstairs. There was live music, comfy seating and an additional drink and food menu. We ordered the roasted peach with goat cheese as an app to share. Loved the flavors and presentation. All of the our food was innovative and fresh! Amazing presentations and creativity. It wasn't a major shock to me that the prices were as high as they were because I looked at the menu prior to making a reservation. I was curious to see if the prices matched the quality and quantity of the dishes. I think the quality of the food was high and portions were reasonable. I wish the prices were a bit more affordable for a regular visits. Midlina seems like a really amazing restaurant for special occasions and fun date nights. I can't wait to go back. We went here for the new years eve package. It was $150 with 3 courses and open bar. This was 100% worth it. From the moment we walked in- the place was beautiful, staff was welcoming and helpful when ordering, the food was top tier. The specialty cocktails were included too so we got to try a bunch. The food stood out the most. I had the tender lamb shank and my husband had the beef Wellington. The Wellington was the best we've ever had honestly- flavorful tender meat and a crispy outer shell. Highly recommend if it's ever on the menu again. We also had a unique gingerbread smoked old fashioned that was delivered in a gingerbread house! The desserts were even more beautiful- especially Poe's nest. Overall an incredible experience and we will be returning for dinner soon. read more

I visited for a girls night out celebrating being engaged. It was a dimly lit cute restaurant. Our waitress was polite. We ordered the casquinha de siri as our appetizer but we really enjoyed our main entrees the most. I could have gotten the bronzino whole or filleted. I chose filleted and it was delicious. My girls were satisfied with their food too. It was a nice touch for the restaurant to put congrats on the dessert. Then we retreated to the speakeasy for a cocktail upstairs. Came on the last day of restaurant week. Which was the best idea I could have made this week. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was extremely tender and flavorful. The potatoes were succulent and the eggs were done just right. The waitress angi was very nice. Her service was quick and accommodating. Initially the potatoes didn't come out the way I wanted them. So they were taken back and a fresh perfect serving was given to me. Those potatoes were much better I want to come back to experience the speakeasy. This place was a real vibe. Visited for restaurant week! Brunch was good! Shout out to Ami for the amazing service! I've had this place bookmarked for months! I'm glad we came. The speakeasy (Poe's Tower) is upstairs and the dining room is on the main level. The speakeasy wasn't open yet (opens at 4) but still was able to get a tour. It's the largest speakeasy in Baltimore! Parking was decent. I had the steak (w/chimicurri), eggs and potatoes. The steak was a small portion but it well seasoned and delicious! Very rarely do you get a chance to have a perfect dining experience, but Mudlina was definitely it. Came on a Wednesday to meet my Yelp Fam and it wasn't crowded at all. It's Located on Boston Street in Canton so just know there won't be anyplace to park close by. From the moment you step in you can see the time and dedication they put into decorating. Inside it looks amazing. Decided to hang at the bar to have dinner. I like a good Old Fashioned so I ordered one. The presentation was immaculate. The bar tended mixed it perfected and smoked it in a smoke box. She brought the whole box to me and allowed me to video the presentation. She was training a new bar tender but it did not impact the service I received. The full menu was available at the bar. I decided to get the grilled sampler platter. It came with two skirt steaks, two pork belly slices, and two chicken skewers. It had side of grilled peppers, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. It was definitely enough food for two people so I had plenty of leftovers. They had a lovely Whiskey Decanter shaped like Thor's Hammer. The house manager came over and allowed us to have generous shots of Old Forester from it. The owner even came over to make sure everything was going well. I had no room for dessert but I did have room for another drink. The bar tender convinced us to go up to the Speak Easy. The entrance was located in a bookcase inside the main dinning area that accessed and stairwell. It lead up to the Largest Speakeasy in Baltimore and possibly the state. In true Baltimore style it was decked out in Edgar Allen Poe. It was just as, if not more beautiful that downstairs. There was a totally different menu up there as well. I tried out the Annabel Lee's Kiss Cocktail. It was crafted with care as well. The owner, Karim even came up and chatted with us. We learned all about how he opened this location and how he curated the menu. Oh and the menu does change seasonally so there will be a new fall one soon. I can't wait to see what's in store. Midlina is one of the newest spots around town, opening about 6 months ago. Went to midlina on a Wednesday evening. It was pretty quiet and intimate so it felt like I was getting a private dining experience although there were other guest at the same time. Joy, Nichole, and Melissa were the perfect host and wait staff. All very attentive. And went above and beyond. Owner Chef Karim also greeted us personally and asked about our dining experience. He was very engaging as well and provided us with a little info session about Midlina. So on theme, very Baltimore. Yet very authentic to the owners personal journey to bring us this gem. Run to Midlina asap before the secret gets out. To start, I got the bridge between continents cocktail which contains butterfly pea tea and lavender and it was so refreshing. Tastes like lemonade but better. Next I tried the strawberry aperol spritz. This added flavor boost to the classic drink was so enjoyable to my taste buds. If you don't like the bitterness that the classic aperol spritz has but love how refreshing they are, then this is for you. Ragu pasta (not sure I got the name of the dish right) was everything I thought it would be. The meat just melted in your mouth and the pasta noodles were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend. You get a lot of food here. So come hungry. Chef Karim advised us that there is an upcoming menu change. So if you are eyeing the current menu options go now. Then I headed upstairs to the speak easy and it was everything I could have dreamed off. Perfect atmosphere for a speak easy. Fun fact, this is the biggest speak easy in Baltimore. The drink options are different upstairs. So I had to try a drink from that menu. I got the Poe's Tears and once again the drink was so delicious and did not disappoint. I really enjoyed my time at Midlina. My bartender, Jess, was really knowledgeable about the menu items and drinks. I came during Happy Hour, which is Tuesdays 7-9 PM and Wednesdays 5-7 PM. During Happy Hour, their cocktails are only $12, wine is $10, beer is $4, and their snack items are $13. I am a huge fan of their Strawberry Aperol Spritz ($18). It was refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness. I also tried their Empress Gin Fizz ($17), which has gin, lemon, rosemary, honey and egg whites. It had earthy notes and the egg whites created a subtle creaminess to the cocktail. To eat, I had their Burrata ($19), which had strawberries, tomato, fennel, crushed pistachio, and a pear balsamic glaze. While I was not a big fan of the fennel (that is a personal preference), I enjoyed having the pita with the creamy burrata, the sweetness from the strawberries, the acidity from the tomato and crunchy texture from the crushed pistachios. I did not seemed to notice the pear balsamic glaze. I am not sure if it was missed or there was not enough added. The overall ambiance of Midlina is beautiful. There is a dimly lit, gothic vibe in the dining room. They have live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays - I was told usually classic rock band covers. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in addition to Happy hour from 7-9 PM and 5-7 PM (respectively), they also have a $50 pre-fixe menu, where you can choose an appetizer, entree, and glass of wine. On Thursdays, they have $30 bottles of wine. The best part is they also have an Edgar Allen Poe-themed speakeasy upstairs, where I met the bartender Meredith. WOW!! My friend and I picked this place to celebrate my graduation and it blew our minds! I was rushing to meet my friend for our 7pm dinner appointment and it was raining hard outside. As soon as I stepped inside Midlina, I was transported into another world. The restaurant was dimly lit with silver tiled ceiling and wall lined up with bookcases. The restaurant gave off a welcoming vibe. Our server was friendly and helpful. She answered all our questions, quickly took our orders and served them in a timely manner. When my friend inquired about the sauce in one of the dishes, our server made sure to go ask the chef for us and came back with the answer for us. All the dishes here tasted amazingly!! From the plating to the flavors and freshness, Midlina nailed it! We devoured all the dishes coming our ways LOL. There's a speakeasy upstairs which served dessert and drinks with nice ambience and vibe if you want to check it out. The flavors of many of the dishes are superb, but I don't believe the menu clearly captures what is happening with each dish. I also feel like the menu is lacking variety in each section. I believe it should be served as a dip (without the meatballs) and pita bread. -The speakeasy upstairs is a nice touch- the after dinner move is in the same spot, which is nice. We went here on Halloween for a great open bar for $50. Included was the Halloween cocktail list or you could order ANY drink off their cocktail menu or bar. What a great deal to get your moneys worth! I had a fab time with my friends at a square of all leather couches and coffee table. Very cozy and had a great speakeasy vibe. I loved the entrance behind a bookcase. The only thing that happened was that one of the bartenders yelled at me when I tried to flag her to be next for a drink and she was in the midst of helping a couple. A truly unique dining spot tucked away in Canton. We visited on a quiet Thursday night and were greeted promptly upon arrival. The ambiance was a whole vibe--modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. My husband ordered the strawberry Aperol spritz, which had great flavor, though it leaned a bit too sweet for our taste. For appetizers, we shared the escargot, tacos, and octopus. The escargot was especially memorable--the addition of seaweed gave it a creative twist, and the accompanying sauces elevated the dish. Definitely not your typical escargot. The octopus was fresh and flavorful, though I'd personally skip the yogurt sauce next time. For our main course, we split the skirt steak, cooked medium rare. It was delicious--tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with crispy fries and a tasty garlic aioli. Dessert was the chocolate mousse cake, which, unfortunately, missed the mark for me. While the flavor was nice, the texture was off--it was dense, sticky, and hard to cut through, lacking the lightness you'd expect from a mousse. Service throughout the evening was pleasant and attentive. The manager even stopped by to check in, which was a nice touch. The service was great and the food was good but we felt overall that it was very expensive for what we got. The concept of it being food that crosses continents is a good one and I liked the variety of cuisines that the menu offered. We started with fried halloumi which was very good. I could have eaten two orders. For our meals we got the chargrilled skirt steak and the lobster ravioli. The steak and the chimichurri were very good. The lobster ravioli had good flavor but we were disappointed that it was just regular cheese ravioli with lobster sauce. There was a good amount of lobster pieces on top however we would have liked it to be inside the ravioli. There are a lot of good places between Harbor East and Canton Crossing that we can go to, but we come back over and over to Midlina's. So I've been to Poes Tower.. the speakeasy, bit today was my first time dining at Midlina... the full service restaurant. I came with a few friends who recently got married. We sat at the bar and were served by the the lovely bartenders, Nichole and Melissa. I tried the Espresso cocktail... yes it's a cocktail and not your traditional martini. It was a fun take on the classic drink. For my appetizer I had the Kofta Meatballs and my entree was the seafood pasta (that's not the name.. I just can't spell the real name lol). Everything was so good and filling. My group decided to head up to the speakeasy. I had the Dubai Chocolate drinks it was really tasty. The Chef came out to chat with us for a bit, he's really nice and said they update the menu with the season and that they also have Brunch on the weekends. I heard they have the best Chicken and Waffles and Mimosas Flight in the City! Midlina to me is a great all purpose restaurant.. you can catch up with friends here, go out for a solo evening and listen to live music in the speakeasy, or have a really good date night here. We went for summer restaurant week and it was 2 courses and a drink for dinner for $55 per person.. Well we don't drink really, so we were able to sub in a dessert and a mocktail, so that was nice of them to be accommodating. It is still weird that one of the menu items for restaurant week was a drink..instead of a dessert course but that's just my opinion. My bf got the beet hummus with focaccia, and it was bland and underwhelming. If anything it was not salted or seasoned at all. I got the kofta with couscous which I did like but some bites felt way too tart/sour. There was no balancing of flavors I think. There's a good dish in there, just needs some tweaking. We both got the seafood dinner course and both agreed that was a complete hit. The green pasta sauce was herbaceous and creamy. One ding - one of the mussels my bf got on his plate was closed.. so quality control could be better. The dessert I got was a good chocolate mousse! Not too sweet and the little bit of spice on the white chocolate shards..but the choice of serving dish made it rather hard to eat. It was served atop a nest, within a 'broken' egg shaped vessel. Artsy sure, but a little hard to navigate a big spoon properly to get to the mousse to eat it easily. It was style over function here. I want Midlina to succeed. Service was good, the manager came by to check on us. Water was not getting refilled often enough though. It has taken me awhile to write this. I and a few friends came here for restaurant week. Midlina was a Mid-No We were totally disappointed with the entire experience. When we arrived there were about 10 people in there. We ordered our drinks. It took them an hour to bring out our drinks. I had ordered a specialty drink. I tasted it and noticed it was straight liquor. I pulled another waiter over(because we hardly saw our own waiter) and asked him about the missing ingredients. He said he would go to the back and ask. He came back and said they ran out of the ingredients. I asked why wasn't I informed instead of just handing me some alcohol. I returned it and asked for something else. It took them another hour to bring it out and only because one of my friends went to the back and requested it be made while she was standing there. Our appetizers came out 20 minutes after I drinks. So we waited an hour and 20 minutes to get just an appetizer. By this time the place became packed and everyone was shoved in to this little area. Two hours later we finally got our food. Two of us were going to leave after receiving out appetizer because of how long we had waited for just that dish. However, the rest of the party insisted that we wait. While we were waiting for our food three tables of customers got up and left. Two of those three tables had received their appetizers and just like us they hadn't received their food for over 2 hours so they just left. Then the other tables that never received their food just left. Out of the 6 of us, only 2 people dish was flavorful. The rest of us our food was dry, it lacked any flavor, and one girl who ordered the Cornish hens they looked like they were boiled (were supposed to be baked)and not done. She decided to just take it home and cook it in her oven. She didn't want to return it because of the time we waited It was one of the worst experiences we had at a restaurant. We informed our server that several tables had left. Her response was oh well it's nothing we can do about it. Before leaving we found out they had a big party upstairs and we're also trying to serve them. I guess the customers in the restaurant mattered less than the party upstairs who got their drinks and their food. Some of them upstairs even had to come downstairs to get their drinks. We had the gnocchi, device, and Kofta meatballs for the starters and churrasco steak, sea bass for the mains. Everything was awesome!!! Its a scratch kitchen and the menu changes frequently so the food mentioned in the reviews most likely won't be available. Service was great and perfectly attentive. I had very high hopes for Midlina but unfortunately was underwhelmed by my experience. It's a beautiful space right near the corner of Boston St and Aliceanna, with a lovely facade and signage that are extremely welcoming. The interior is beautifully decorated with ambient lighting and great music. Everyone from the hostess to the bartenders to the servers were incredibly friendly! Unfortunately, the food was a let down. The theme of Midlina is bringing together different cultures from around the world for new takes on classic dishes, which is a lovely thought and ripe for innovative takes. However, portion sizes were small and extremely pricey. There was no one dish we got that had a memorable flavor profile and we left hungry. The one upside was that we went on a Wednesday and bottles of wine were 50% off so we got to enjoy a lovely bottle of Bordeaux! The upstairs is a speakeasy that you enter through a secret bookcase (SO COOL!) and I highly recommend that you check it! This was easily the best part of our evening. They serve cocktails and food there and there was even live music when we visited. Delicious spot in Canton! Our table shared pork belly and a cauliflower with couscous appetizers. Out of this world! I could have eaten a whole plate of the cauliflower and couscous. Pork chops, steak with chimichurri, and a pasta with shrimp dish. Didn't love the pasta, but everything was great. A decadent sticky toffee pudding with a raspberry ice cream - perfect sweet treat at the end. Staff were friendly and welcoming! The restaurant was cool, but the TV at the bar felt misplaced as this restaurant had too nice of a vibe. Wow! I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. It's dimly lit, kinda dark, really cool art on the walls and excellent customer service. My friend and I stopped in on a Thursday, which happened to be wine night -$30 bottles. I made reservations through the website, and they were needed. At 7:45 there wasn't a seat available in the dining area. Note: the dining area when crowded is LOUD! Whew! The menu changes, what I had my eyes and stomach set on wasn't there (i.e lobster pot pie). So we went with the steak tartare and the tandoori spiced octopus. We loved the octopus (almost ordered 2), we liked the steak tartare. I didn't like the steak tartare alone but on top of the shrimp toast, it was a okay. We both chose the steak skirt for our entrees. I went with medium, my friend went with medium well. I loved her steak, the char on it was perfect. My steak was chewy, flavors present, but chewy. I devoured the beef fat fries and took my steak home. The leftovers were equally delicious. We opted out of dessert but wanted more cocktails so our lovely waitress guided us to the stairs of the speakeasy. It is nice!! Perfect addition to the restaurant. We chose espresso martinis. This review is difficult to write. We were a group of about 6-7 people. The food was delicious. But, we thought it was overpriced for what we got and we had issues throughout our meal. Nothing was served together. Meaning, once drinks started to arrive, it took maybe 10 minutes for all of the drinks to arrive. Each course was the same. Some plates were getting cold while others waited. We were close to the speakeasy door and it would often open to very cold air. The meal portions were not especially large. The food was delicious. The restaurant is nice and cozy. The servers were friendly and understanding. One of our party was served a glass of wine after his meal, which had been ordered maybe 20 minutes earlier. She apologized, but the wine was on the bill. After we ate dessert and paid our bill, our birthday boy remembered that he had brought a cake and had asked the kitchen to hold it and serve it to us. It had been completely forgotten. But, they did serve the cake, with candles and song and even brought us some celebratory, complementary shots of special Maker's Mark bourbon. We were allowed to bring it into the speakeasy which was pretty cool. I'd like to rate this meal higher, but at the price point of this restaurant, I just can't. read more

We have been wanting to try Midlina for a while and it did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, it was amazing! The decor is interesting and the dining room is cozy and inviting. I got the skirt steak with chimichurri over fries and it was outstanding. Highly recommend!!! My husband had the spaghetti with clams and it was also delish. For dessert, we had the Ruby & Emerald--what's not to like about raspberry mousse, pistachio cream with a graham cracker crust? Service was great and it was a nice touch that the owner visited each table. We had the most incredible meal (and post-dinner cocktails upstairs in the speakeasy) and will put Midlina on our rotation of go-to-spots. 5 stars. No notes! read more

I really wanted to give a better review, but I gave 3 stars for a couple of reasons, which I hope this restaurant can improve upon. The resultant is cozy and beautiful with a speakeasy bar upstairs, through a bookshelf door. But bar itself doesn't have a speakeasy feel. Anyway, this review is about the food and service. So I have been wanting go here since it opened and finally did for a birthday dinner. The staff is super nice, happy and welcoming. It seems they might be overwhelmed. We had drinks and multiple dishes try. The service is super slow, all dishes came out at different time, not just few seconds late but many minutes late from each other, so some of us waited for others to get food and by that time our food was cold. Same thing with drinks. I think their kitchen is not doing well, either under staffed or slow. The food unfortunately was bland mostly, I actually like my friends vegetarian dish over my cornish hen. The drinks were weak, very unusual as they weren't cheap. One of my friends drink didn't come till after we were done with the dinner, he ordered it before we placed dinner orders, but they still charged it and there was no apology. I am not sure if I will return unless they make a 360 to improve their service and add flavors. Lastly, it was a birthday dinner, a cake was brought and they completely forgot about it till we asked as everyone was about to leave. Desserts were ok. Had a reservation for 7:15, apparently reservations mean nothing. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Waited almost and hour past our reservation time and still were not seated. Major flaw in service. Not an apology or anything, we walked out. We won't be back. Went down the street and had an amazing dinner with great service at Nihao. Don't waste your time at Midlina. With service like that they will be closed in a year. read more

Midlina is a local favorite of mine. I have been multiple times over the past year since they opened. I love the everchanging menu but a few most recent favorites of mine are the lobster pot pie and the pork belly ramen (SO flavorful). I also love the beet hummus and tempura veggies. The servers are always super friendly. Cant wait to come back! read more

Unfortunately we won't be returning, at least for the current spring menu (May 2025). We were so excited to try this new restaurant based on the great reviews and proximity to our home, but it was sadly disappointing. Our biggest disappointment and shock was that every single dish we had was soaked in grease. We started off with the kofta meatballs and the pork belly lettuce wraps. Pork belly is very fatty, so fat is expected, but every single piece in our dish was pure gelatinous fat sitting in a large puddle of grease, mixed with soggy fried banana pieces also marinating and absorbing grease. For entrees, we had the skirt steak and the fusilli putanesca. Again, chimichurri sauce is made with olive oil, so oil is to be expected here, but this sauce was as if herbs were first placed on the steak, then oil splattered on afterwards. The entire plate was soaked in oil, and you can see in the images the plain oil splattered around, as the soggy and sad french fries soaked them up. I would suggest asking for the chimichurri on the side if you try it. The fusilli putanesca was also soaked in oil. It could be that the restaurant loves to use a finishing oil, but it was executed poorly and just made the plates sad greasy oil pools. We also had high hopes for cocktails as there is a speakeasy attached. We didn't visit the speakeasy but ordered an old fashioned and the strawberry aperol spritz. Both were painfully sweet for our taste. The strawberry aperol spritz tasted like pure strawberry syrup. And unfortunately, our service was incredibly slow. Our waitress was never anywhere near to refill water or order more drinks. The skirt steak also came out 10 minutes before the pasta, and we couldn't find anyone to request a steak knife so we were just sitting there struggling to cut our steak with the butter knives. We were thinking of dessert, but after waiting for sometime, we decided to make use of our rare opportunity with our waitress to opt for the check instead. As for the ambiance, the decor and dim lighting was nice. However, there was loud speaker bass (maybe coming from the speakeasy?) as if you were next door to a frat house. Visited Poe's Tower above Midlina for happy hour on a Thursday evening (Happy Hour is Tues - Thu from 7-9 PM). There was live music and the ambiance was nice with the moody lighting and spacious area. The drinks were good, but we were charged $12 for each instead of $10 as it says on the menu. Still a good deal compared to the $18/$17 they typically cost outside of happy hour. I would be interested to go back to try the food as well. read more
