One of the hidden jewels Northeast market. Easily home one of the best sandwiches in the city. The grilled salmon & shrimp Panini is awesome. It's well worth fighting for parking & having to make your way through the madness that's outside of the market. Only down side of it is the stand is so popular it's always a long line that you have to deal with. But overall the service is excellent once you get your order in it takes little to no time. The prices are well beyond reasonable too I got a sandwich, chips, & drink came up to $15 & some change. I frequent Jawa a lot, but today I got a shrimp panini. The shrimp was not seasoned at all, my sandwich had way too much spinach, my cheese wasn't melted. A little piece of bacon. It was just terribly made and nasty! I've never experienced bad service/food from here but today I was just overly upset. Maybe it was the cook/preparer. JAWA Market is located inside Northeast Market. It's one of the few places that provides unique sandwiches at the market. They won a City Paper award for best shrimp salad. Personally I'm a fan of the chicken salad, santa fe wrap, and garden turkey sandwich. While the sandwiches look a little small, they are surprisingly filling, and have a ton of flavor. read more

Our hosts frequent this stall at the market and recommended the paninis (looked good, warm, full of fillings). I had a Chicken Noodle Soup (they were out of the desire Cream of Broccoli that day). Chicken looked to be strips of sliced deli meat, chock full of medium egg noodles, fresh celery and carrot chunks. Strange off-flavor like garlic powder/lemon pepper. OK, not great.
