Better prices than too anything west of store in upscale Roland Park were many dollars more for the same products. Travel east and south towards Charles street and same lower prices as here. But this store is in a better neighborhood. Big store with a huge variety that the others around can't hold a candle to. Also they actually answer their phone! Of the 12 stores I called half never answered their phone and guess what? Their voicemail was full too. These no answer stores need to put down the bottle and actually answer their phone! read more

Obsessed with this wine store. It's approachable but still hits the hipster bougie vibe with a wonderful selection of natural wines and as far as I know the only carrier of Hana Makgeoli (a wonderful Brooklyn maker of a lovely Korean rice wine). There's a chiller here to chill your wine and a lovely deli with a good selection of cheese and meats. My friend and I recently tried a coffee soda which was a take on a coffee Arnold Palmer which I ended up enjoying. I most recently went for a tasting with a distributor and bought three wines! The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly - they also have boxes to help in your purchase! I make the drive to come to The Wine Source - it's always a good time. read more

I came in looking for an oddly specific Dominican rum for a buddy's birthday. The knowledgeable staff member found it in less than a minute. It was amazing. My experience at the The Wine Source was wonderful for the moment I stepped in the door. They have a huge selection of wines that I am sure would satisfy everyone's needs. I love the Wine Source. Lots of organic wine options and craft beers I've never heard or tried in my entire life. Plenty of the name brands wine, liquor and beer but be sure to check out the not so named brands. Also be sure to check out the market area which features breads, cheeses, mustards, jams, pickled veggies, etc, anything you need to accompany your at home bar and cocktails. Hands down the best liquor store in the Hampden area! You want wine? Done. You want cheese? Done. You want good customer service? Triple done. But seriously, The Wine Source has a great selection of wine, liquor, beer, etc. You can also find a ton of yummy snacks in their "deli" section for making charcuterie boards or assembling a picnic. It's pretty much a one stop shop for a solid night in. I'm a big fan of their sale section where they feature a rotating selection of wines at generous prices. I've even found some new favorites thanks to that sale section! Not only is the selection good, but their staff makes a point to check on you, say hi, or steer you in the right direction if need be. I was once looking for a specific bottle of wine and called ahead to see if it was in stock and the person on the phone was a huge help. We just moved to Baltimore and Hampden, and we stopped in at the Wine Source to get familiar with the store. I was expecting just a small wine neighborhood wine shop, but the Wine Source is so much more than that! The selection of spirits/liquor, wine, beer, and mixers was so much more than I was expecting! From amaros to sakes to rums - they had such an amazing selection. Then basically a wall of beer...! And so much wine! (They even have a small natural wine wall.) Then on top of all that, they have a small food section - everything you need to make a great charcuterie board to go with your wine basically: cheeses, meats, olives, oils, bread, pasta, ... and more! I've been the this establishment 2x, once a few years ago, and the second time this past Sunday. I wandered in with a friend who was seeking a bottle of wine. Her knowing me, however, she directed me to the beers on the last aisle. There I found a great selection and variety of local brews, country-wide brews, and the usual crappy light beers. There's a fridge full of individual beers that I kinda lost my mind at. They had a bunch of different flavors of the Dewey Secret Machine sours and I bought them all! I wandered down the aisle more, but couldn't find other beers I wanted more than the 5 cradled in my arms. Checkout was a breeze and the cashier gave me a nickel at the end of the transaction. Not sure what that was about, but I'll take it. I don't live in Hampden, but dig that place. Maybe instead of bringing drinks with me when I visit my friends who live in that area (1x a week, usually), I'll see what The Wine Source has to offer. And if it's just more Dewey Secret Machines, I'll be 1,000% good with it! read more

The Wine Source is really the source for all things delicious! In addition to a great variety of wine, you can also pick up craft beers (and "regular" beers too), any spirits I've been looking for I've found, AND a great variety of cheese, meats, chocolate, jam, crackers, breads, and they have citrus.... it's the only stop you need to throw yourself a happy hour or full blown party! In addition to the selection, let's talk about the staff. I have never been to the store and not been offered help finding what I need or assistance to my car. They are always friendly and helpful! COVID protocol seems solid, people are always masked and they have marked areas to help avoid close contact with other shoppers. 5/5 all day! read more

I've been here several times with friends, and every experience has been great! Not only is the customer service fantastic (very attentive, willing to check in on you, knowledgeable staff, etc), they have a nice variety of liquor and wines that are easy to find in the shop based on region. Additionally, they sell limes and lemons at the register which if you've ever had a few friends over for drinks, you tend to prioritize the alcohol and forget the limes/lemons. It's always a duh moment for me but because they have them right at the register, it's easy to remember. What I think I like most about The Wine Source is how honest staff are about their thoughts on different wines. If they don't like it, they'll tell you and have enough knowledge to even recommend something based on your tastes. Lot parking can be a little scarce sometimes but that's really out of their control and usually street parking is easy to find in the area. In short, would highly recommend! My friend (who's the wine guy for sure) loves it here and says it's one of the best wine spots in Baltimore to him. P.S. They have a little section off to the side with cheese, olives and other delicious snacks that go with wine and spirits. Extremely broad selection of items from sake to wine to vodka, ready made cocktails, beer and more! Doesn't have a dedicated Kosher section but has endless options for adult beverages. Parking can be tricky. There is a small lot in front and then shared parking at the Royal Farms parking lot but otherwise street parking is available but is usually pretty tough. read more

Probably the best liquor store in the DMV. I am a bartender who specializes in pre prohibition, "milk and honey" style bartending where instead of concocting tedious, fad cocktails with random plant (and sometimes animal) matter we focus on quality products, ratios, and techniques. My home bar is unabashedly lit especially after covid. To set up a solid bar you need a variety of spirits and liqueurs and the run of the mill ABC store in the area only has common bottles or they're overpriced as hell. I have found the selection here to not only have the breadth I desire for my home bar (quite the amaro selection!) but at competitive prices that rival state ABC stores. No you're not going to find blantons or pappy here (there are better stores for whiskey buffs) but you want to throw a cocktail party and need a few products? This is one stop shopping. Frankly it's better than bitters and bottles in San Francisco, but not quite as good as Astor's in New York but you're paying half the rent here so I think that's a quality compromise. If anything it would be nice if they had a little selection of commercial quality barware and nice glassware from cocktail kingdom and the likes so I don't have to pay for shipping. 5 stars for this wine & et. al shop in the heart of Hamden. I walked in looking for a Saturday night beer. The selection that I found is astounding. They have something like 14 fridge doors of beer on display - sure to satisfy any taste. Milk stouts, gose, red ales, sours, heffewizzen, hazy ipas and more! Plenty for of MD pride and MD brewers, national distributors and foreign imports. But if you're looking for something more mass-produced they also save some shelf space for the Miller Lites and Dogfish ales. Prices will range from $10 for a 6-pack to $16 for a 4-pack. There's also a beer counter where you can order draughts by the glass. If you're looking for other alcohol, there are isles worth of variety for bourbons, vodka, wines, etc. I'd be surprised if you didn't find what you were looking for or a reason to substitute. Wow! My experience at the Wine Source was awesome! I made a mini pit-stop here to grab some wine gifts. Bridget, one of the knowledgeable employees on the floor, was readily available and was able to recommend lovely options! She was extremely detailed and she definitely knew what she was talking about! I was super duper impressed! :D This place was packed, and it seems to be a favorite spot for the locals to come in and get some cheeses (the scent does kind of hit you when you enter the premise) and liquor to stock up on. They offer greatly-organized sections of spirits, sake/shochu, wines, beer, and even a section in cheese/chocolates/specialty foods as well as gift sets and books/accessories. You can also check out their website for in-store events (such as tastings). There is a small lot, but it is usually packed; there are metered parking around the area, but it is a little tight and usually unavailable - I highly recommend in you coming with someone where they can drive around the block so that you can pop in and out with your purchases. +ask for Bridget - she is AWESOME!!! :D read more

Everybody talks up this place...such a great "Beer" selection...I can say they have alot to choose from, but the most important part of a Beer store for me is the selection of singles. And this is where it lacks...the thing is that they have room to make such a great singles aisle, but they aren't taking advantage of it. Missing out in the extra revenue in not having this feature Think of it this way...a typical craft beer 6 pack costs $10.00...if you break it down to singles and charge $2.00 each, that's a $2.00 per 6 pack bonus/$8.00 per case... Wine selection is great, along with the alcohols. Artisan cheese adds to the plus's. Staff is somewhat lost in beer info...They steer you in the right direction, but that's basically it. Although I have been to the Wine Source on multiple occasions, it was during the Christmas rush that I really grew to appreciate the Wine Source. Close to my house, I needed about 20 bottles of wine for Christmas gifts for colleagues. I decided to skip their small parking lot, and scored parking not too far (on the street). Utilizing the shopping carts they have, I located a wonderful sales lady who I gave free reign to picking out bottles for me within my price range. She found me a huge assortment of reasonably priced wines that she loved. Although the store was jammed packed with patrons who were doing the same thing as me, the registers were staffed adequately, and there was a minimal wait. I was headed to an event in the area and needed to quickly grab a bottle of wine. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and give an amazing amount of help. I told the lady the type of event, the type of food, wine I normally like and my price point. With those four items she walked me right over to a bottle and I blindly took her recommendation, well I have found a new favorite Pinot Noir!
