What a neighborhood gem. I don't think there's any better named spot in the city: this truly is a little shop that celebrates cheese in all its glory, but it's also so much more! There is a full wine bar as soon as you walk in that is about as prominent as the cheese selection, and there is a clear passion for pairing these two. Sampling a few cheese and wine pairings, then grabbing a bottle and a quarter pound of our favorites with a freshly baked baguette on the side makes for a really lovely evening. It can definitely get busy, but service is always friendly. They also have a little import specialty shop in the back (yes, there's a back...it's around the corner!) where you can often find some foodie goodies. This is a low-key place that is a true staple. I have sat inside in there back room which is a much more quiet vibe as well as outside which is nice but definitely is loud as it's in Fed Hill. All of the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. There are a lot of people there for a small place so they definitely do their best at getting everyone served quickly. The food is very reasonably priced, the DELICIOUS paninis (not pictured) are a must as well as a cheese board to start off the night. I would definitely try a new combination of flavors because they were all phenomenal, definitely get the old bay Asiago though! Loved loved loved coming here and will be back! They have an assortment of cheeses, meats, and wine. I specifically enjoyed the Manchego and St. Angel Triple Cream. They sell bottles of wine that you can drink with an $8 corkage fee. We got a charcuterie board that serves 3 for $30. You can choose up to 4 items on the board (cheeses or meats), with additional add-ons like the raspberry jalapeño jam or Marcona almonds. The service was great. We were served with kindness. The overall ambiance is this is a chill place with limited seating. They do have outdoor seating as well. Inside, they sell wine glasses, coffee beans, olive oil, pasta, and other goods. It's a small bar and cheese store in Federal Hill, they have a delightful selection of gourmet cheeses and specialty items, including preserves, nut butters, cured meats and also wines. The store layout can be a bit confusing and the store feels somewhat overcrowded because of the small space. The customer service is friendly, accomodating, warm, enhancing your shopping experience. I loved the "odds and ends" cheese sampling, which allows customers to taste before purchasing larger portions. We loved the sheep and goat cheese, smoked gouda, collier cheddar! Cheese Galore is a neighborhood gem. It's part bar and part cute shop. You can get local Maryland coffee, jams, wine, crackers, bread, and of course cheese! I have not sat in the bar and ordered food and wine but that is something I need to do. I usually come to Cheese Galore for the "Federal Hill crack" which is Asiago cheese and pairs well with crackers or bread. I also love the artisanal cheese, my favorite: talaggio, St. Angel, and Royal Black and Blue. I also love the homemade baguette chips. The staff is helpful and friendly. read more

I went to Cheese Galore for the cheese. They sell a lot of wine, crackers, condiments, jams/jellies, and other stuff, and have a seating area to sit and eat . . . but I went for the cheese. The person who helped me was extremely nice and gave me some advice as I pointed at cheeses in their display case, ultimately selecting about ten to try. She, er, cut the cheese, wrapped it, and packed it up, labeling it so I'd be able to tell what was what when I got home and started sampling. So far I've only tried the Stilton, which was great, and I'm looking forward to trying the rest. Nice place, nice service, nice selection of cheese . . . except for the difficulty parking in South Baltimore, this was exactly what I wanted. I love this place- there is nowhere else nearby like it. To set the stage for you: when you walk in you can sit at the bar and order, or eat outside in the parklet. It's 1/2 bar and 1/2 market inside- selling local jams, beer, etc. including a cute little "odds and ends" cheese basket which allows you to try pieces of new cheeses. The crowd here is definitely older than surrounding establishments. I typically order a "Nibblies" board which comes with cheeses, meats, fruits, and spreads paired for me. The staff will help you pair a drink. When I was beginning my cheese journey as an adult this is how I began to learn which cheeses went well with what meat and spreads and wine. Since I have come here more than 5x, I would like to see more options added to the nibblies board menu. That's not stopping me from returning, though. read more

It was suggested to me by the woman working there that I try a variety of cheeses available in the back room. Went here in Dec 2020, the staff were so nice and helpful. The restaurant was closed at the time for covid but we were able to taste a number of cheeses before buying, and the staff helped guide our selections. I wanted to plan a wine and cheese night for my boyfriend and I came across this place on Yelp so I decided to go poke around. Cheese Galore and More is located in Cross Street Market towards the back. It's a small vendor shop but they pack this place with tons of items. I had way too much fun here and spent an embarrassing amount of money at a cheese shop.... Anyways, one of the women who works there was very helpful and knowledgeable about everything they had to offer. I told her I would be drinking red wine and she made some great suggestions. I bought five small cheese "samplers." I also bought some chorizo, crackers, jam and a cheese board. They also sell Zekes coffee, olive oil, bread, pastas, and more, much of which is locally made. And you can also buy paninis here. My favorite cheeses were the double brie and this cheese made with beer. Already planning my next trip here! read more

This place is amazing. This place recently was in Cross Street Market, but now has a store front right on Charles. There is a bar area up front and a cute little back area with crackers, jams, crackers, wine, and other goods to purchase. The vibe is quaint and makes you feel right at home. Every time I come here, I leave happier, full, and can't wait to come back! Sharon, the owner, is phenomenal and welcoming. She is super knowledgeable and always able to explain her cheese recommendations in detail. I've been here to pick up cheese for book club, cheese for my dinner, grab a coffee, and of course to have a glass of wine with a cheese plate. Tonight I came in with some girlfriends and we shared a cheese plate, asiago cheese dip, and wine. We weren't sure exactly what cheese to choose, but like I said Sharon knows her stuff and she came to our rescue. This is a great spot for a date night, to meet up with your friends, or grab an after work glass of wine to wind down from the week. They even have started to make grilled cheese paninis (which I tried last visit and WOW) and are starting to make their own homemade soups. I love coming here and sharing this spot with my friends, and I make a point to bring my out of town friends here, who still rave about this place. She is all about customer service and is willing to order cheeses for you if she doesn't carry them. I can't tell you how happy I am to now have Fromager D'Affinois (a super creamy, worldwide bestselling french brie--TRY AND YOU WILL BUY) available for purchase locally with the tasty mini toasts to go with it! The prices here are way cheaper than Whole Foods and other grocers, so there is no reason not to support a local small business and get your cheese and accompaniments here. Yum! read more

I have been waiting... hoping, praying for a local cheesemonger in the Baltimore area. I didn't know my prayers had been answered until I stumbled across this place after a weekday lunch. Deb, who is friendly, outgoing and clearly knowledgeable about her wares, was a friendly face in Cross Street Market. Located just down from Fenwick Meats in the center of the market, Cheese Galore has a spectacular selection of cheeses and olives, breads and crackers, and other delightful tid bits that left me drooling as I walked away from the counter. I could barely wait til I got home to try my selection of Pecarino-Pepato (a hard sheep's milk cheese with peppercorns) and Parmigiano-Reggiano, along with a small loaf of artisanal bread that I couldn't resist as an impulse buy at the last minute. When visiting Baltimore last week, we ended up at Cross street market to relive some old times. We stumbled across Cheese Galore and More. I needed an appetizer to bring to a party that night and had no time to make anything. Sharon set us up. She helped me select several varieties of cheese, put it on a platter, and served us paninis for lunch. They were great! My cheese platter was a hit. Sharon, the sweetheart who owns this shop, has great taste in cheeses. Her selection is really outstanding and amazingly broad for a small shop. The Old Quebec is the tastiest sharp cheddar you will find, her asiago dip is as addictive as its nickname (Federal Hill Crack), and her Vermont salted butters and Fage Greek yogurts are exceptional. With the breads, crackers, olives and other accompaniments, you can put together a great picnic or hors d'ouvres. Sharon and assistants Deb and Mary are always warm and helpful.
