Let me preface this by saying I was craving a cheesesteak. And I will add that this is a bagel shop and not necessarily known as well for sandwiches. But they do have a wide menu which includes cheesesteak so I decided to give them a try. Then came the 100% disappointing sad cheesesteak I was served. From the soggy bread, to the wrapper that stuck to my cheese and turned my cheesesteak into just the "steak" part. The flavor was that of a piece of bread soaked in water and tasteless. Overall did not come close to fulfilling my craving. Service was the same to follow. I approached the counter where I was greeted. The only customer service part of my experience. I told her my name and she said it would be a few more minutes. The woman then stated talking to her coworkers.. nonstop chatter. All the while the back cooks were bringing up food. And they were bagging it. After about 10 minutes of waiting. I interrupted the chatter and asked if my sandwich would be coming soon (at this point it had been 20 minutes since I ordered). She then asked me my name again and then grabbed a bag that had been sitting in the counter for some time and handed it to me. No apology.. nothing to show my bag had been sitting there for the last 8 minutes while I waited and she as the "greeter" forgot to check on it. Have always had good experiences with food from this bagel shop until I recently got a bagel with cream cheese and lox and found a largish piece of plastic wrap in the sandwich. Called and spoke to the manager who apologized and said she'd issue a credit for the charge as well as a free sandwich next time I came in. Came here mid-day on a Sunday for a last meal in Baltimore before I had to leave to go back home from my trip. I was recommended from a local as a great solid consistent breakfast place. I wasn't expecting much because it isn't quite the "classic" sit down breakfast place with high priced breakfast entrees with mid flavor. This place puts them to shame. The service was unique in that your ordered on a kiosk which saved time and made for a much more efficient system and made me think why other bagel chains who are swamped with filling orders waste their time taking orders allowing the food quality to suffer. The food came out hot and fresh and as good as I ever could have imagined. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese that truly rivaled the ones you'd get from a bagel spot in New York. I also ordered a strawberry banana smoothie that reminded me of high quality hotel smoothies. It did take a little while to make and came well after my bagel but the wait was worth it. The decor was pretty light nothing over the top but it somehow worked and just felt like a great place to hang or do some work. Also while I was there the whole upstairs had multiple chess games going on which really added to the entire experience proving THB was the neighborhood favorite amongst locals and Johns Hopkins students. No, it is not a New York bagel, but that is quite alright, it is still a tasty bagel with an even tastier bacon, egg, and cheese to boot. It is a nice sized bagel, and you get plenty of bacon, and the proportion of egg to cheese to go along with it is a pleasant amount. I can honestly say that do it better here than some of the bagel shops and delis in New York City, where it can feel like you are being put into a coma. The bagel also tastes as you would expect a bagel should. A little sweetness from the kettle water, a nice glisten off the top, and of course, a crunchy exterior with a chewy interior. We go to THB sometimes twice a week for breakfast. The bacon egg and cheese bagel is amazing! Customer service is not the best. When you place an order online, of course you go in to pick it up. However, all the bags with the name and order number are turned away from you. So you are not able to distinguish which bag is yours. Who wants multiple people rumbling through a sea of bags to see which one belongs to them? The atmosphere is a little chaotic in the mornings, but I'm sure much more calm during non peak hours. read more

Stopped in for the first time this morning for a breakfast sandwich on my way to work! Ordered a simple bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel! It was pretty good and made very quickly! Nice size! The bagel seemed to be super fresh! This place has a pretty nice size menu and I felt like I didn't really have time to look at all the options this morning. Parking can be a beast between finding spots and paying. I didn't pay this morning as I was just running in. Service was nice and I received my sandwich pretty quickly after ordering. I am definitely interested in returning to sit down and really have a look at their menu! Only thing I will say is that it was a bit pricey. The sandwich was about $5 alone plus an additional $2 and change for the OJ I got. The bagels are not cheap and they charge fifty cents if you want them to cut a half dozen. Am I the only one that thinks it's ridiculous to charge to cut bagels. As it is, you have to order from a screen. These companies want you to do the work so they don't have to pay workers and then charge you for "extras" plus a 20% tip so we can pay the wages of the few workers they do have-who are overworked and underpaid. I tried to give this place a second chance. I don't get the positive reviews... the bagels are extremely tough to chew (they DON'T taste "freshly baked daily"). Caution to those who have sensitive teeth, these may cause harm. They are really dry bagels, close to stale. On the 2 occasions I went to the place which suggests to me the quality is consistently poor. I asked for a toasted bagel with cream cheese and it did not appear toasted. Delicious bagels and very efficient. I placed my order online for pickup and it was ready at the exact time that they said it would be, down to the minute. I love the Asiago bagels here and usually get a turkey sausage, fried egg, and cheese on one. I've been to many bagel places and this one has the best tasting turkey sausage option. I can also taste the freshness of the bagels. I also got the mixed berry smoothie from here which was very good. The only bad part of my experience is that the smoothie separated pretty quickly because it was made and sitting there for about 5-10 minutes before the bagel came out and they gave me my order. They have a large outside area with tables where you can sit and eat your food. There's a big parking lot right in front and street parking as well. I stopped by THB to get some bagels last week. It was my first visit to a THB location. The bagels were fine. Not great, not the worst. Passable. I did like that you can pre-order on the Toast app, so I was able to order and have it ready when I arrived. However, picking up from this location is a bit of a nightmare since it's right on St. Paul St.! I just parked in a spot I probably wasn't supposed to and then ran inside and ran back out. I'm new to Baltimore, and I think of THB like an Einstein's or a Bruegger's, a chain bagel shop that will do in a pinch. read more

It was already busy even in the morning. Patrons are mostly university students and people on their way to the office. First impression - the place was very clean, which was great! My wife and I have a regular bagel shop and it is THB (Towson Hot Bagels). My usual is a sausage and egg sandwich on a sesame bagel with avo, tomato, and raw onion. My wife usually gets the veggie on an everything bagel, sometimes with a shmear of their fantastic cram cheese. This is definitely the worst of all the THBs. I go here because I'm close and have been a big fan of the Towson one since inception. This one is lacking in most of the ways that count though. They have this nice ordering system but it does not work too well and they will ignore any special preps added to your order. I have NEVER had one of my bagels toasted here despite indicating "toasted" every time. Why? Also the bacon/other items here are never cooked all the way and as someone else pointed out, it's as though they don't finish cooking the bagels all the way because they are definitely more chewy than other THBs. 2 stars simply because I still love Towson THB but go someone else for a crappy breakfast sandwich. Edit: also in before the manager spews the lie about them "not seeming toasted fresh out of the oven." Completely ruined the sandwich. Also their sausages for their breakfast sandwiches are knotty and flavorless. Don't order the sausage egg and cheese.
