Went to Trinacria for lunch today since I was in the neighborhood. I ordered the homemade sausage sub. In the past, I have ordered the meatball sub. I preferred the homemade sausage sub. The sub was huge! I was able to eat it for lunch and dinner. Not only can you order breakfast and lunch, you can shop in the market. I love the wine selection and have bought some decent red wines in the past. Today, I picked up limoncello spritz and it was great. I didn't get any desserts but was salivating just looking at all of the Italian cookies. Highly recommend this neighborhood Italian market. read more

This old Italian little place is a neighborhood gem! They not only have large, generous sandwiches, they also have an amazing selection of delicious frozen homemade pasta, fresh sauces and dressings, all kinds of Italian grocery items, and incredible homemade garlic bread. Anywho, like the others have said, it isn't in the greatest of areas; although it appears as though that will be changing soon. They have a pretty nice sized menu of options for sammie's and they are at a great price point. I got the small Italian cold cut, everything was crazy fresh from the bread to the meats. It is a destination for old world charm and great prices on wines, deli and all the pasta you could ever imagine. Located on Paca Street blocked for the infamous Lexington Market (presently undergoing a revitalization) Trinacria's takes you back to a time when life seemed to be simpler and everyone knew you from the neighborhood. What amazes me is the number of people who travel here from far and wide to source some of the best Italian food and experience an old fashion shopping experience. Where do I start? From the door of course. Walking in you notice the rustic wood floors where countless patrons have strode. You smell the fresh baked breads and notice the wooden bins of loose pasta (buy by the pound). You eye up the shelves of Italian cookies, oils, vinegars, spices and a sundry of canned goods and other macaronis. You notice the deli with a huge list of domestic and imported meats and cheeses and a cold case full of fresh mozzarella and ropes of Italian sausages. The prices are amazing when compared to the big box stores and everything is cut fresh and wrapped by hand in deli paper. If your hungry, try one of their fresh made sandwiches: Italian cold cut, shrimp salad, and my favorite, the Italian tuna on focaccia. My mouth is watering! Look down and around you will see one of the most understated gems of Trinacria's, their wine selection that starts at $3.99 a bottle! I have on many occasions found hidden wine gems for $6.99 or $9.99 that are valued at up to $25 a bottle in my wine app! The last stop is the frozen section which is great to pickup complete frozen meals like lasagna, chicken Marsala, raviolis, manicotti and even frozen dough balls that make the best pizzas at home. Always a great day when I discover an old world Italian Deli. When you walk in you get the amazing aroma of the cheese and cured meats which says "you have entered a Salumerie." Not very far from the Lexington market, they were quiet a little after 1 Friday afternoon but really picked up when I was leaving. They have deli meats, cheese, desserts, olive bar, wine, refrigerated/frozen sauces, pasta, dough and dry/non perishable Italian staples. It has a Bodega feel to it & you could spend some time looking around in the tight spaces. If I Iived closer, I would be here a few times a week! Ordered some Subs/Panini for sharing. The Meatball, Mufalleto & Veggie Panini. The Sub roll was perfect! Mufalleto had the salty/tangy olive spread that played nicely with the Capi, Mortadella & Salami. Meatball Sub was huge! Definitely get it with Provolone cheese. Veggie Panini was very good with the Tapenade taking it over the top. Their meat and cheese selection is extensive. They even had Guincale which is hard to find and some would argue is necessary for true Carbonara. Upbeat and friendly people behind the counter and in the kitchen. Second day of work training and I found Trinacria while searching for a sandwich spot. I appreciate a good hole in the wall... Trinacria is this type of place. (Not a literal hole in the wall, but ambiance and easy to pass by) I literally drove past because it didn't look open from the outside. It's dimmly lit inside and the cold cuts/deli menu is a little hard to read. I was looking for a Turkey and Ham sandwich. I didn't see one, but chose to customize the Turkey sandwich. It took about 5 minutes. I went outside to wait and the preparation was like Jimmy Johns. I walked outside and ot felt like my sandwich was being brought to me seconds later. For whatever reason, my camera wasn't working when I opened the sandwich before eating. The sandwich was a decent size. 3/4 is all I needed. The last 1/4 would be just what I need to drive home in traffic and stay awake. I'll be back these last two days for lunch.Deli SandwichesDeli Sandwiches Edit... Second day coming back was just as good. I ordered the Shoes Turkey Paninni without the artichokes and picked up some Prosciutto and Asiago Breads. The Paninni was good. I think the Paninni press could have been hotter as the sandwich was barely warm. If the cheese was melted a little, that would have made a big difference. Nevertheless it was a good sandwich. There's a Deli Case with Italian Cheeses and Olives. Many types of Italian Ycold Cuts like Cappicola, Mortadella, and different Salamis along with Marinated Artichoke Hearts and stuffed peppers. The vibe hear is an old school Italian Deli they sell a variety of freshly made frozen raviolis . They sell Stuffed Shells and Housemade Meatballs. There's even canned imported San Marizano Tomatoes. Tomato Paste in a squeezesble tube like toothpaste. Everyone working behind the counters is super helpful and your items are packed in recycled boxes that were used for their incoming Deliveries. Stop to say hi or stop to buy pasta for a year, you will be glad that you did. read more

Today I was waiting for my brakes to get fixed, around the corner from Trinacria, at Maish's Auto. While waiting I started to get hungry, as I had not yet had lunch. I asked if there was a good place to get a sandwich nearby, and they recommended this place. I walked down the block and upon entering, I thought the place was really interesting. This local Deli does not only do sandwiches. They are a real local Italian Deli. They sell wine, homemade pastas and pastries, and several other Italian specials. I have included photos and the sandwich menu. As I had come for a sandwich, I decided to order the chicken parmigiana. Their employee Matt, took my order (great name btw haha). The sandwich was delicious. They made it with focaccia bread, super fresh breaded chicken, provolone cheese and a tangy sauce. It was also really well priced ~$7. Trinacria is such a gem! I went with some co-workers for lunch on a weekday. We got paninis to go. I got the Veggie Panini (Artichokes, Tapenade, Roasted Peppers, Fresh Mozzarella, Olive Oil) but substituted pesto for the tapenade. It was a generous portion, and so delicious! Italian cold cuts are very cheap and good. I would go back just for that. They have a good variety of items to make your own pasta or Italian dish at home. Chicken parm was huge and tasty on a fresh piece of bread. Sauce and cheese was delish. The chicken was a frozen patty that I wasn't fond of. Customer service was wonderful. Everybody was helpful and ready to help. I think my opinion of this place may slightly be jaded because I am comparing it to dipasquales. They have my heart.
