    Italian Cold Cut extra meat
    Brad R.

TLDR: Solid, no frills Italian hoagies with a killer Friday deal. Fast service, tasty subs and a great little market to browse while you wait. I have been to both the Towson and Rosedale locations of Pastore's Italian Market for lunch and have always been happy with my hoagies. While there are technically better hoagies to be found in the area, the Rosedale location more than makes up for it on Fridays by offering their Italian Cold Cut for just $5.99. For what you get, it is an outstanding value. The "Pastore" Italian Cold Cut comes loaded with Genoa salami, capicollo, prosciuttini, mortadella and provolone, dressed with olive oil and wine vinegar, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, onions, hots, olives and a blend of grated cheeses. It is made fresh, nicely balanced and the perfect size for lunch. Nothing fancy, just a very satisfying, well built hoagie that hits the spot. Beyond the sandwiches, the market itself is worth a look. They carry a great selection of pasta, house made sauces and desserts, making it easy to grab dinner ingredients or a sweet treat on the way out. Service is quick and efficient, with subs typically ready in five to ten minutes, which makes this an ideal lunch stop when time is tight. If you are in the area on a Friday, that $5.99 Italian is one of the best lunch deals around.

This place has all the east coast deli vibes you need, but in Maryland. It's something I have found a ton of in my home state. Not pictured are tables for dining in if you want to enjoy your food while it's hot. All I wanted was a well made turkey hoagie with good ingredients and some deli sides and that's exactly what I got. My turkey sandwich was delicious, made with all the fixings. I order an Amish potato salad and a macaroni salad as well. The potato salad was great but the macaroni salad lacked flavor. My son got a meatball sub and he said it was "on point" and my daughter had a prosciutto sub that she loved. Overall, the food and experience were great. Everyone inside was incredibly friendly and attentive. I live nowhere near this place but I will give myself a reason to come back at some point. You can stock up on panty items or frozen food as well, but get yourself a sandwich when you come. I don't think you will regret it.

    Daily specials.

Tried the daily special: chicken salad. The sandwich was tasty and with the added banana peppers, the flavor was superb. I called in the order, and when I arrived 20 minutes later, it was ready got pickup. I can't wait to return and try the Italian hoagie. Great lunch spot.

Pastore's is well known for the pastrami and they do a fantastic job of putting it together with fresh ingredients, namely a ripe and firm tomato...usually this is the hardest to find among sandwiches makers. 10/10 will be keep coming back. 3rd visit here, a wide variety. Would take a year or longer as a regular to burn out on the menu.

Why has this establishment been closed for several weeks now? Does anyone know? The food is so authentic and I miss it.

Great options for an authentic Italian market! In fact, I brought my in-law here for a sandwich a few years back, they were visiting from Italy, and thought the sandwich was very authentic to their markets in Italy. I love all of their holiday foods as well. We picked up a bunch of chocolate eggs and ingredients to make tiramisu for Easter. They even offer wine tastings on Saturdays! The people who work here are so kind and helpful!

I have been a longtime fan of the DiPasquales family businesses, from their classic Italian markets in Baltimore to their new speakeasy style restaurant, Forno. Living in the county, I have always known about Mastellone's but somehow forget that it delivers the same amazing quality as the more modern DiPasquales locations. I finally made the trip to grab a weekday lunch and could not have been happier with my subs. The shop sits along a busy stretch of Harford Road, so be ready to parallel park quickly or find a nearby side street and walk over. Inside, it is everything you want in a true old school Italian deli. No frills, just shelves full of authentic Italian groceries, a big cold case with sauces, side dishes, desserts, and even a solid wine selection to take home. I ordered the Old World Italian sub, made with sopressata, capicola, prosciutto, fontinella cheese, olive tapenade, tomato, and a drizzle of EVOO on a toasted fresh baked roll. It was absolute perfection. The meats were thinly sliced and perfectly layered so that every bite had the full mix of flavor and texture. Salty, a touch spicy, and incredibly satisfying. At twelve dollars, it is the ideal price point for a weekday lunch that feels like a treat. The staff could not have been nicer. They were friendly, efficient, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Overall, Mastellone's is everything you want in a neighborhood Italian deli and absolutely worth the trip for anyone chasing elite level hoagies.

The business has moved around within the building over the decades, but this current spot in Broadway Market is a great home. Authentic food, classic Baltimore vibes, and genuinely kind people. I...was not mad at the trip, but probably wouldn't come back. The staff was nice. I accidentally dropped my change on the floor without noticing and staff ensured that what belonged to me was returned! Also, when I received my bag I left.. crossed the street and wound up returning to the store after one of the staff members yelled for me across the street to come back to get the second half of my wrap! Now as nice as both of those things were, the food was not worth the circling back. The wrap was sloppily made, with my sauces running through the paper, and my fries weren't fully cooked. I wish I could say it was better but honestly, there was a lot of pictures and promo surrounding their cheesesteaks and/or their crab cake platters and I didn't get either of those, so... maybe next time.
