My friend and I stumbled across this gem leaving another event and after looking at the Houseplants of Baltimore, we came across Vikki's. I...was not mad at the trip, but probably wouldn't come back. The staff was nice. I accidentally dropped my change on the floor without noticing and staff ensured that what belonged to me was returned! Also, when I received my bag I left.. crossed the street and wound up returning to the store after one of the staff members yelled for me across the street to come back to get the second half of my wrap! Now as nice as both of those things were, the food was not worth the circling back. The wrap was sloppily made, with my sauces running through the paper, and my fries weren't fully cooked. I have been to Vikki's a few times and all their sandwiches are pretty good. This time, I got their Teriyaki Chicken wrap. The wrap got a bit mushy from all the sauce but overall, it was still tasty. This is a no-frills breakfast/lunch spot, that is above-average, and affordable. I ordered lunch delivery via Grubhub on 01/22/2024. Mushroom swiss cheese steak sub and an Italian sub. The cheese steak was solid as far as Maryland cheese steaks go, but they don't do anything fancy unless you specify. The Italian was decent. Stopped in only to buy breakfast for John, a homeless man I'd met on my morning walk. Decided to buy something (a plain bagel with cream cheese and a hot chocolate) for myself since I was already there. The bagel had what was essentially an entire block of cream cheese on it - seriously, it looked like they just cut the block down to a square shape and slapped it between two toasted bagel halves. I love diners which I would describes this more as then a deli especially for breakfast where they have like 30 plus platters though many of them are variations of omelets and pancakes. They have small counter plus a few nearby tables. Counter did not have much of an overhang so I was a bit farther from my food than like. The banana nut pancakes I got while okay tasting did not have much nuts and the bananas were sliced above. I prefer my bananas in the batter. The pancakes were standard oversized variety. I Like mine closer to saucer plate size than full plate sure. Syrup was basic generic maple flavored corn syrup. The bacon was the best part as very crispy and not greasy. Tucked inside broadway market in fells, this venue is a bustling counter cafe with familiar faced customers dining. I sat down at a seat and found an old menu with prices from the 1990s. I ordered from it, and realized the pricing was accurate!!!! The food is extremely inexpensive and freshly cooked! I had the omelet with chicken, peppers and onions which had a more filling than egg. Potatoes were hot and delicious. My rye toast was excellent. I peered at my neighbor who ordered fluffy blueberry pancakes. They offer countertop (a bit small) and table seating within the market. The menu has an abundance of options and from what we've tried, everything is good! It was sooo good! So good, in fact, that I came again on my day off and ordered the same thing. This time, it was a bit different. The service was still friendly and great, but my sausages weren't fully cooked. I like my sausages with a bit of a crisp. The sauteed onions I added on tasted like they were soaking in vinegar. I'm chucking that experience to just being an off day because I would sincerely go back. A customer ordered a cheese steak that looked delicious, so I may try that next time. =) read more
