A little late to the party, but we finally made it to Miss Shirley's this past Monday after hearing good things about it for years. We started things off with the appetizers, and the Hot Honey Fried Chicken Deviled Eggs were absolutely phenomenal. Easily one of the best things we ordered. They were so good that I honestly could've eaten an entire order by myself and been perfectly happy. We also tried the house-made cornbread. Their version was a little different from what I'm used to and almost gave me French toast stick vibes. The consistency was good and it definitely wasn't bad, just a different take on cornbread than I expected. Between the two appetizers, though, I'm choosing those deviled eggs every single time. For my meal, I ordered three scrambled eggs with cheese, Cranberry Maple Turkey Sausage, shredded hash browns, an everything biscuit with cream cheese, and pancakes. Everything was good, but those pancakes were easily the star of the meal. Honestly, some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Perfect consistency, fluffy in the middle with slightly crispy edges, and flavorful enough that you really didn't need much syrup. The eggs were solid -- simple scrambled eggs with cheese done right. The Cranberry Maple Turkey Sausage was really, really good as well. I'm personally not a huge fan of shredded hash browns because I prefer home fries or diced breakfast potatoes, but that's more of a texture preference than anything being wrong with them. I'm also not much of a bagel person, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the everything biscuit, but surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. My lady ordered the brisket skillet, which had brisket, scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes, peppers, and everything mixed together. Very flavorful, and the portion was definitely generous. For drinks, she had the Pineapple Coconut Colada, which was good and definitely had a heavy pour that day. I had Shirley's Crush. I'm already a big fan of orange crushes, and theirs was really good -- flavorful, refreshing, and they definitely weren't stingy with the alcohol. Our waitress, Melissa, was amazing. Very attentive, helpful, friendly, and she took great care of us throughout the entire meal. Great service can really add to an experience, and she definitely did that for us. I honestly don't have any real complaints about Miss Shirley's. The food was good, the service was excellent, portions were generous, and there were so many other things on the menu that caught my attention. I already know I'll be going back so I can start scratching some more items off the list. The only downside worth mentioning is parking, but that's pretty normal for a city location. There's a parking garage directly across the street, which is extremely convenient, but we paid around $24 for maybe an hour and a half to two hours. A little pricey for that amount of time, but I guess you're paying for the convenience of being literally across the street. Overall, my first experience was a solid 5 out of 5. *Recently relocated from Houston to Bmore.* Solo brunch dined after a visit to the Black Wax Museum on a Saturday afternoon. It was about a 30 minute wait for a table of 1 (there is NO bar seating, parking is validated any Harbor parking garages). I ordered the cinnamon danish pancakes (short stack) which was perfect. Overall, a lovely experience at Miss Shirley's today celebrating my best friend's birthday. I have absolutely heard all the hype surrounding Miss Shirley's from many people and I was so excited to put the hype to the test. I opted for an item from the lighter option menu- the shrimp and corn chowder was tomato based with a lot of yummy chunky fresh stewed vegetables in every bite. I've been to Miss Shirley's three or four times because I genuinely wanted to support a Black-owned business. I kept coming back thinking maybe I'd have a better experience, but after this visit, I don't see myself returning. To be fair, one thing they do well is seating. I've always been seated quickly, even when it's busy, and the location is convenient. The food, however, has been consistently average. During this visit, I was seated inside and spent a good part of my meal swatting away flies, which wasn't pleasant. I ordered the omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. The biscuit was easily the best part of the meal. warm, soft, and buttery. The omelet was oily, and the hash browns were cold by the time they reached the table. My friend ordered the cheeseburger and said the bun tasted stale. It was falling apart as she ate it, which made the meal even more disappointing. I really wanted to love this place, but after several visits, I just don't think the food lives up to its reputation. Baltimore has so many excellent brunch spots that consistently deliver better food and a better overall experience. At this point, Miss Shirley's feels more like a destination for tourists than a place locals return to because the food keeps them coming back. We pulled up randomly on a Saturday after walking around for brunch. We were seated in about 20 minutes, despite them not taking reservations. For Kids, they give them an etch a sketch and a card with things like conversation, starters and trivia, to promote convo and no screen time. Love! I actually like how they treat kids as a whole. Instead of a typical kids "meal," they essentially have a Kids Bento box that is automatically served with fresh fruit and applesauce or yogurt. Everything about it was super cute. Service overall: overall, the service here was pretty good. Well, I do feel like it took a bit for refills at one point, our server was really attentive and made some good recommendations. Food: wow! The food here was really good. We got the fried green tomatoes and added crab on top. It was bomb. I can't remember the exact name of the skillet I got, but I got the skillet that had fried chicken, one of their bomb everything but the bagel biscuits, greens, gravy, an egg and cheddar grits. I am rarely blown away by everything on my plate, but I have to acknowledge that everything in the skillet had great flavor on its own and when combined. At our table, we were not disappointed by anything. We spent about $127 on brunch for three adults and one kid, all with beverages. I think there might've been one cocktail. We also had an appetizer. I'm sorry but this restaurant is a no go for me for both food and service. While this restaurant has good reviews we were very disappointed across the board. We had about a 20 minute wait for a table which wasn't a big deal, but then we had to wait about 20 more minutes for our waitress which I had to flag down a different waitress to ask to send someone over. We started with coffee - it was lukewarm, even the refill. I ordered an egg white omelette with potatoes and biscuits, my daughter ordered the pancakes and my friend ordered the pull pork grilled cheese. None of it was good. My omelette was tasteless, the pancakes and grilled cheese was dry. The waitress asked if I wanted honey butter for my biscuit which I said yes but never received it. It is a Baltimore icon for a reason! The Inner Harbor location is just as good as the original too. True, parking can be tricky, but there are plenty of public garages within a short walk. The food... stellar. Just be warned, the portions are huge!! So, if the prices seem a touch high, keep in mind, you'll easily have two meals from one entrée! The service was good, very quick, and very friendly. The location is perfect too, right at the end of the main stretch of the inner harbor walk (Pratt Street). Miss Shirley's was theeeeee perfect Saturday breakfast/brunch spot to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We had heard great things about this spot from our realtor and used the occasion as an opportunity to check it out! from the second we walked in to Miss Shirley's, the vibe felt warm and inviting. They were playing oldies, it was cozy inside, and after coming in from the freezing cold it honestly felt like a much needed hug. When you walk in, one thing you can't miss is how many awards they have posted all over the walls (especially if your entire party isn't there as they don't seat without the whole party being there and you have to sit in the waiting area up front). This restaurant has a million awards and articles highlighting their crab cakes. After seeing all the buzz on the wall, we came in to the restaurant excited to order the crab cake Benedict, only to find out they no longer serve crab cakes. Our waitress explained that they removed them because they weren't meeting the restaurant's "standard," which I guess I respect, but we were still genuinely so sad because that's what we were most looking forward to. Thankfully, their menu is full of amazing sounding meals and we're still able to end up having a really good meal. One person in our group ordered the shrimp and grits, two of us got the chicken and waffles and swapped the honey mustard aioli for hot honey, and the fourth ordered the banana bread French toast. Overall everything was tasty, but the chicken on the chicken and waffles was a little overcooked and tough, which was the only real downside. The clear star of the table was the shrimp and grits. The plating was unique and really tasteful, and it somehow elevated such a classic comfort dish. It was honestly some of the best shrimp and grits I've had up north. We also ordered a side of hash browns and those were amazing too, super crispy and satisfying. Service was another big highlight. Everything's been said about Miss Shirley's Cafe so I'll just talk about myself. I might need more glamorous profile photos since I only got one like in 9 years on my last Shirley's review. Sure, it's flattering that fake-seeming bots send me DMs, but what I can really use is some better review metrics. The Crabby Omelet was action-packed. Even the cheddar is crabby and the grits are more vivid than usual. It's best to go on the crab side of things but if you don't dig on crustaceans at least stick to the oven-mitt logo entrees. Don't miss the stunning grapefruit brulee. I haven't sampled the Kid's Boxes but can verify that years ago, a customer around two years old was absolutely thrilled with the visual aspect before taking a bite, rapidly waving his hands. I am so glad I found this place in my research for my girls weekend in Baltimore. The best brunch place I've had ever! From start to finish, it was the best, and most kid-friendly experience ever! The host was amazing and was already preparing kids activities for us, once he saw us outside the door. My sister almost cried! As far as timing goes: They don't take reservations, but they have an efficient system -- when you arrive, they take down your name and phone number, tell you how long the wait will be, and then text you when it's your turn. It was our servers Birthday and she ran her section like a pro. I had such a great experience at Miss Shirley's! I ordered the pancakes and eggs and absolutely loved it. The pancakes were fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the eggs were just right. You can really tell they focus on quality and consistency. I also ordered the mimosa and my goodness... it was strong...but tasty! The overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service made the experience even better. It's definitely a spot I'd go back to when I want a really satisfying, comforting meal. I came here for Sunday brunch and it was crowded. They don't take reservations, but the wait wasn't too bad for our party of 5. I got the chicken and waffles ($22) and I have to say the chicken itself was not seasoned and the waffles were pretty dry. I was very disappointed in my dish as it had no flavor. I also tried the crab hash eggs Benedict ($32). There was a decent amount of crab meat, which I appreciated. However, the poached egg was not runny at all as it should be. The spicy Bloody Mary ($15) was pretty good. They don't have Tito's vodka, they only have Three Olives vodka. The garnish was nice. It came with okra, a stuffed olive, a lemon and lime wedge, and a slice of green tomato. The Sunrise Mimosa ($12) was okay not the best. Not sure what kind of champagne they used, but personally, it wasn't to my liking. The service was a bit slow, but our server, Tara, was very kind and knowledgeable. It did take a while for us to put our order in, but as mentioned before the restaurant was crowded. Unfortunately, if you need to use the restroom, you need to take the elevator to the third floor to the sky lobby because they do not have one at the restaurant. This was a bit out of the way and inconvenient. There is a parking garage right across, but it is a bit pricey. read more

Wow they are busy!!! Unfortunately we were seated outside after our 50 minute wait, because we said we wanted the first available. There were fans but no breeze. Everyone was sweating including our wonderful server (Johnathon?!). The banana split yogurt was DELISH. My breakfast bowl was missing something (maybe a salsa?). The blueberry pancakes were divine !!
