I accompanied a few people here. Parking is very tight on the street but there is parking located in the rear. We arrived after 1pm and was able to get seates within 30 minutes with a number of parties waiting ahead of us. This was my first time eating here and the eatery in general. There is seating available in 3 different areas to include upstairs. The womans rest roomm was pretty clean for the volume of people dining in. After looking over the menu and mouth watering. I chose Ms. Shirley Bloody Mary, fried green tomatoes and Chicken w/pineapple upside down waffles. In the party others ordered buffalo shrimo deviled eggs, gumbo, shrimp tacos and a seafood type omelette. The fried green tomatoes were hard and not of good seasoning, the others enjoyed the buffalo shrimp deviled eggs. The gumbo was not enjoyed thus was sent back. My Ms. Shirley Bloody Mary was not as desired; taste of Old Bay seasoned tomato juice. Ths pineapple upside down waffles were fluffy but deceiving on the part of thinking it was going to be like the cake. It was like 3 little mini belgian waffles with pieces of pineapples tossed on top of the batter before cooking. But they were okay. The other party enjoyed the rest of the meals. I didnt snap the meal photos as we indulged quickly as we were hungry and I forgot. Our server was great and attentive. She was definitely on of the best servers Ive had. Visiting Baltimore I enjoyed brunch at Ms. Shirley's with a friend. LOVED the food. Southern cuisine but with their own twist. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It came with sweet glaze and syrup. And the waffles had a dollop of pimiento cheese. Delicious!! I sneaked some of my friend's pancakes and they were very fluffy and tasty as well. Highly recommend. This was my first time at this location, I am familiar with the Miss Shirley's brand. The food is always good, it was refreshing to see consistency at another location. I ordered the blackened salmon Benedict and the crabby omelette to share. There was a lot of fresh handpicked crab in the omelette, delicious. Stopped in for Baltimore Restaurant Week since it had been a few years since my last visit, and the food was just as good as I remembered! They were offering a 2-course meal for $25, so I went with Nana's Grapefruit Brûlée and the Chicken & Cheddar Green Onion Waffle. Both were just as delicious as I remembered from my last visit! The restaurant has plenty of seating, making it a great spot for family outings. Since the weather was nice, I sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. I had the best breakfast I've had in Baltimore and I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place! Miss Shirley's is top tier! The restaurant is large and there was a wait but it moved pretty quickly. I had the pineapple upside down pancakes and it was like something I have never tasted. I usually only eat plain pancakes but I am so happy I took the waitress' advice and tried these! 10 out of 10! Now let me tell you about the shrimp and grits.... When they came out I was immediately turned off by the presentation. But after taking my first bite I was hooked! It was the best combo! Shrimp, grits and fried green tomato! Chefs kiss! If you are going for weekend brunch get there early! The hostess was very helpful and accommodating. Our waiter was detailed oriented and casually professional. I love the orange colors through the restaurant; very vibrant and high energy. The vibe was great from start to finish. They have a lot of uniques menu items and ingredient combinations. I ordered the garden omelette, key lime stuffed French toast, shredded potatoes , pimento cheese biscuits and the peach & goat cheese biscuits. After the first bite of the pimento cheese biscuits everything else did not stand a chance! So I've been to Miss Shirley's a few times over the years and this was the first time I think I was actually disappointed in my selections. The fried green tomatoes were disappointed, and this was supposed to be the highlight of my brunch. The cornmeal mixture was a little sweet, and tacky tasting. Meaning it gave a gummy consistency. I was not a fan of this after sending it back once because of its light coating. I wanted it a heavier covered. I think that they reread it was already sent out making the consistency a little off. The banana bread French toast was underwhelming understand that a lot of people have no allergies but as an aside nuts could've been added or at least offered It's an up charge if you want whipped cream. Very disappointed. A server was very nice. Management was very pleasant and attended to my needs and ambience is always clean and welcoming. read more

Best meal we had in our time around Baltimore! It was a cool surprise to see it was on an episode of DDD. The breakfast was BOMB (we visited twice in 4 days)! Ive been here several times in the last 6 years, but it has been a while. We came on a Sunday around 11am, and it was a packed house, but they were able to get us in right away. The food is still really good , and their menu is so expansive. Something for classic breakfast lovers, experimental breakfast lovers, health conscious friends, and folks with several dietary restrictions. Our service on this day was a little scattered on this day. Seemed like our server could use more training or was having an off day. I wish I loved Miss Shirley's more. It's a Baltimore staple and some folks swear by it, but I'm always underwhelmed when I leave. However the vibes of the establishment do take it from a 3-star to a 4-star review for me. Food - the portions are generous but the quality is average. The pricing is also on the higher side. I think sticking to classics like pancakes and eggs will probably be the highest yield on the menu. Service - excellent, they are well staffed and very attentive. Food does come out to the table very quickly. Ambience - the location is so cute and right on Cold Spring Lane. There is a small parking lot in the back that you could get lucky and find a spot in but otherwise there is plentiful street parking. The decor makes you feel so nostalgic for Baltimore of old even if you haven't grown up here! read more

I've been on a hunt for the best French Toast around and I found it right here at Miss Shirley's. The Challah French Toast will make you hollah! Hollah! The portion is huge and each slice of thick, soft and fresh Challah bread is smothered in creamy butter and maple syrup. O.M.G.!! Incredibly delicious. Miss Shirley's is also a place you can find tasty Fried Green Tomatoes. The slices are huge and they are fried to perfection. Coffee is a bit pricey at $5 per cup, but refills are unlimited. I have visited this restaurant before however, this is my first review. This was one of my few outings during my injury and I was so appreciative of the citizens in the area helping on to the curb, holding the door and while the waiting area was full this nice gentleman gave his seat up so I could have a seat while I waited. All of those things really mean so much. Now, I love Shirley's because of the food presentation. We tried the deviled eggs which were yummy, red velvet pancakes and fried chicken biscuit. The red velvet pancakes were very gooey inside so I requested just regular pancakes which they were able to accommodate. The server and wait staff are very attentive. This location has mostly street parking available. I will definitely return and will try to check out the other locations preferably Annapolis. read more

There are no words to describe the lusciously creamy texture of the French toast. There is a reason the line is long on the weekends. go early on a Monday ( like 11am) and score a great seat. Having lunch with a few friends so we decided on Miss Shirley's. We know from experience that the food is pretty good specifically this location. We received it right away and met our server. Jackson our server we found out was actually training. It was his first few days on the job. However, he was exceptional and his trainer did a good job to let him act as our server, but make sure she documented so that he wouldn't mess up. I also appreciate the manager coming over to follow up to confirm the allergies of the individuals at our table to make sure that there was no cross-contamination. Overall, it's a good experience with good food with good friends. I don't recommend the collard greens. read more

The Roland park location is easy to find right off cold spring lane. There's some street parking but quite a bit of parking on side streets if you know where to look. The restaurant itself is pretty big with some outdoor seating. The staff is polite and attentive. The menu is big, with lots of options for both breakfast and lunch. I went with an omelet with spinach, white cheddar and asked for ham instead of bacon. It first came out with bacon so I asked for a new one which they promptly took care of and apologized. The omelet was gigantic and pretty oily, the hashbrowns tasted undercooked and the biscuit is a weird flavor. It would be more successful as a plain biscuit. Overall the food is okay - I think Miss Shirley's is overhyped but it's popular for a reason. There are just so many other restaurants with better food choices. read more

I've lived in Baltimore for over a decade and have always heard great things about Miss Shirley's. I finally had a chance to visit and I don't think my experience lived up to the hype. I was told this was the best location to visit but maybe that has changed. Our server, Hernan was kind and patient as it took a while for me to finally pick something. I decided on the fried chicken, biscuit and gravy omelet and my partner had the buttermilk pancakes with scrambled eggs and chicken sausage. I asked for the gravy on the side because I wasn't sure how the gravy would taste with the omelet. The biscuit was hard as a rock; I had to saw through it with a butter knife to even attempt to taste it. The biscuit was inedible. The omelet and hash browns weren't seasoned at all, not even with just a little salt and pepper. Turns out all of the seasoning was in the gravy so I ended up pouring it over everything. My omelet had two cubed pieces of a cut up chicken breast in it. The pancakes weren't great. They were too dry for butter and syrup to help. read more

Miss Shirley's Cafe is a must when you're in Baltimore. It's a southern style coffee shop with generous portion size food. Service is superb from beginning to end. Clean and tidy cafe. They have an extensive menu selection. It maybe a good idea to come with more than one person so you can try/share different entrees. We got to tried one of their signature dish, shrimp grits with fried green tomatoes. I love grits so this was a perfect dish for me. Huge shrimps. Fried green tomato tasted like onion ring. The food is good, and there are some things you can get here that are harder to find in Baltimore (fried green tomatoes, gumbo). The cinnamon danish pancakes were good, but the cream cheese icing was thin and watery. The southern slammer is essentially a BLT with a fried green tomato and fried egg on genuinely divine pumpernickel. All in all, I would come back here, but it would not be my first choice. read more

When I asked for cream for my coffee, she rolled her eyes, and when she finally brought it, the creamer dispenser was dirty and appeared to have mold on it. We let her know, and she didn't seem to care -- she only asked if I wanted more creamer. My coffee was already cold, and when I requested a refill, she made me wait another five minutes before bringing it. We came here for a late brunch on a weekday. We had been to the Annapolis location once before (years ago) and we hadn't been super impressed, but this was our first time to the OG location. We easily grabbed a spot out front and parking was $2 for 4 hours. At the restaurant, everything was spot on. The interior was nice and cozy. We were seated quickly and service was on point from start-to-finish. We ordered the deviled eggs to start, which were delicious (although calling them deviled eggs was maybe a stretch). We also ordered the fried chicken & chive waffles, pork grilled cheese, and banana french toast. Everything was heaven, cooked perfectly, no feedback. We had tons of leftovers that kept us fed for the rest of the day and into the next. Strongly recommend this place for brunch! read more

I want crab everything in Maryland, so I went for the crab omelette w/onion hash browns, chicken sausage w/biscuit. It was okay...nothing to blow me away or honestly to warrant all the rave; but it was decent. The biscuit is misleading, I thought all the flavors were separate; but it's combined... They supposedly have the country's best pancakes...my colleague said they were good; but have had better. Disclaimer: I am only able to review vegan options due to my dietary restrictions. Meat and cheese products may be of a different quality than the vegan ones. With that being said, I was excited to go to Miss Shirley's as they had a dedicated vegan menu. I was particularly excited about the Griddle Cakes as I LOVE a good vegan griddle or pancake. That being said, the food was hit or miss. Hits: Chia Pudding and Virgin Mojito! The chia pudding was so delicious, refreshing and light that I literally could've bathed in it. It was sweet without being overly so and it hit all of the right notes on the palate. It was a beautiful experience! The Virgin Mojito was fruity and minty without tasting like diabetes in a glass. It was so refreshing and well done that I didn't mind the $10 price tag. I would actually pay that again gladly for that drink!! The Misses: the hash browns and the griddle cakes The Hash Browns were a miss because there was literally no seasoning in it. Once you put salt, pepper, Hot Sauce and Old Bay on them, they were good. But it was weird to have to doctor them that much. The biggest miss was the griddle cakes. While I know it's difficult to cook gluten free dishes that don't have the mouth feel of saw dust, these griddle cakes are very saw dusty. They were very weird on the palate as well. So it's a huge miss for me. (I am not gluten free, but these are the only vegan options for griddle cakes.) read more

This is our first time here and I am really happy we decided to stop in. It is a very clean and inviting location and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. We started off with an order of the fried green tomatoes, to share. Who would have thunk it? The best fried green tomato we have ever had, would be in Baltimore, well it was. For our main dishes, my wife ordered the Cy Young omelette, with Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Spinach & White Cheddar, and I got the Eddie's two cage free eggs, with sausage and shredded potatoes and onion hash browns.
