Brunch at Elliott's Craft Kitchen: A Promising Start With a Few Missed Beats... I recently visited Elliott's Craft Kitchen a fairly new spot that my group of four decided to try out for brunch. We were hoping for a fresh experience, but our visit turned out to be a mixed bag. Ambiance and First Impressions... When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, which was a bit of a head-scratcher for brunch time. Even though we could hear staff chatting in the back, it took a good five to eight minutes before anyone came out to seat us. Once we were seated, we noticed the lighting was so dim that we actually had to whip out our phones just to read the menu. Not exactly the cozy brunch vibe we were hoping for. The Food: Hits and Misses... On to the food. We started with the cream of crab soup, which was just okay--nothing to write home about. The Brussels sprouts were a bit of a letdown. They were tiny and mostly just fried leaves rather than the hearty sprouts we expected. So if you're imagining those classic roasted Brussels sprouts, this wasn't it. The chicken and waffles were decent in flavor, although the presentation could have used some polish. The pita bread for the crab dip could have been toasted or something more firm and doesn't taste like it was immediately pulled from a bag. Surprisingly, the star of the meal ended up being something as simple as the French fries. They were really tasty and stood out more than some of the fancier dishes. Service and the Final Stretch... Our server was kind and polite, which we appreciated. But the big hiccup came at the end. Their payment system went down, and we ended up waiting over 30 minutes just to settle the bill. After sitting for about 15 minutes we informed our server that we would like to wait in the lounge area to get more comfortable as I understand.... things happen. Although while we waited for about 20 minutes there were no offers of water or anything to make the wait less awkward (not to mention asking for payment without even presenting a bill). It felt like they were more focused on turning the table than making sure we were okay during the delay. Although maybe it was an awkward start to the morning. I will say our server did her best to work things out with the technology she was given. So, I still provided her a fair tip, not her fault. Value for Money... In terms of pricing, it felt pretty average overall, but there were a few eyebrow-raisers. For instance, the avocado toasted croissant--topped with over-easy eggs, baby spinach, and Grana Padano--was $19, which felt a bit steep for what it was. In comparison, a pork schnitzel dish was around $21. So, while the pricing wasn't outrageous, some items definitely made me pause and question the value. Overall Thoughts... In the end, my experience at Elliott's Craft Kitchen was a bit of a letdown. So I'm surprised by some of the reviews (maybe because it was not dinner). While there were a few highlights (like the fries and a well-made Old Fashioned), the service hiccups and the underwhelming dishes mean I'd probably think twice before going back. Definitely not for brunch but I would really consider Dinner after some more reviews. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks as they get more established. read more

Great addition to the restaurant park in Columbia. We finally had a rare date night and decided to try this new spot. It was not crowded at 5pm so we were served very quickly. We enjoyed hot wings and bao buns as our appetizer and shared a black and blue burger for our meal. My dark and stormy was a great pick as well. Helpful attentive staff. read more

Stopped into Elliott's Kitchen on a Sunday around 3 PM--prime football time with both the Commanders and Ravens playing--so I expected the bar to be buzzing. Oddly enough, it was pretty quiet, but they do have the games on for anyone looking for a low-key spot to watch. We were seated within 5 minutes, which I appreciated. Our server, Patrick, was... okay. Not terrible, but definitely felt new to serving. We didn't get the rundown of the daily specials (yet overheard them being given to the booth behind us), and a few small service details slipped through--but I'm giving him grace based on his newness. One thing I noticed from Yelp reviews is that bread is usually served automatically. We had to request it, especially after seeing tables seated after us get theirs first. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. We ordered several appetizers, and honestly, they were filling enough to be a full meal: * Ribs - Flavorful, tender, and genuinely falling off the bone. The portion sizes were a bit inconsistent--some pieces were cut shorter than others--but the texture was on point. I'd definitely return for these. * Brussels Sprouts - Patrick didn't mention they were shareable, which would've been helpful. I did like the flavor, but in hindsight I'm glad we pivoted to... * Crab Dip - This one missed for me. The flavor leaned more tuna-ish than crab-forward. Not my preference, but you may feel differently. * Shrimp in Spicy Butter - Definitely spicy, but somehow still flavorless. More like spicy water than a seasoned butter sauce. The one bonus? They were served piping hot--exactly how I like my food. * French Fries - Hand-cut and tasty. A solid win. Unfortunately, everything except the shrimp came out lukewarm, which took away from dishes that could've been great. Temperature matters! On the drink side, though? Hits all around. The fresh-pressed beet juice was fantastic, and the sweet tea was also on point. We skipped dessert only because we were full, but I'm already planning to come back specifically to try it--along with the ribs and fries again. Overall, I'm hoping this was just an off day. Amazing experience! The service, the food, and the ambiance were all 10's! Some of my favorite items were the ribs definitely the best I've had in a while. The meat was falling right off the bone, and the hint of sweetness from the brown sugar was perfect. I also really loved the sizzling shrimp, although everything I tried was fantastic. The owner Chef Ryan was so kind and hospitable, and our waiter Tori was equally awesome both truly elevated the experience. They also offer a great happy hour, which makes it even better! Tried Elliot Craft Kitchen for dinner and overall had a really nice experience. The place is still fairly new so it was a little on the quiet side, but the atmosphere is modern and comfortable. Our server was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. The sizzling shrimp appetizer was a standout--delicious and full of flavor. For my main, I ordered the fish and chips and wasn't really a fan, just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I also tried the Black and Blue Burger and loved it, great flavor and cooked perfectly. Even though not everything was perfect, the good service and solid dishes made it a positive experience. I definitely plan to come back, especially to try their brunch! read more

I wanted to like this restaurant, but it missed the mark and made for an incredibly disappointing experience. The service was okay--our server was attentive and polite. We ordered several dishes. The crab dip looked unappealing--it resembled a paste and tasted awful, which surprised me since it was marketed as one of their popular appetizers. All items, except for the Brussels sprouts, were quite bland, lacking flavor, and ultimately underwhelming. My first glass of prosecco was flat, but they promptly opened a new bottle when I mentioned it. The restaurant was empty that Friday afternoon, and the vibe felt abandoned. I saw a video on IG while my cousins and I were looking for a place to eat, so we decided to stop in. To our surprise the restaurant was almost empty. The staff was friendly and the decor was a mix between modern and vintage pieces, we tried a few items on the menu and honestly it's not worth detailing each because all were underwhelming. Well... This was hyped up on social media, so we went. Though our waiter was super personable and sweet, the food was subpar and borderline unacceptable. We went ready to taste a good portion of the menu, but after the boa buns came out salty, the "curry" pork ribs came out with no flavor (and DEFINITELY no curry), and the fries were overly crispy and dark, we decided to call it quits. The buffalo wings were normal, nothing crazy, and the Brussel sprouts were pretty basic as well. The ambiance was cozy with a cute little lounge fireplace area. The music was AI (which was a new encounter for me)... didn't hate it. I am firmly believing that they just had a bad culinary night this past Friday though, and am definitely willing to go again. read more

Delish Valentine's Day dinner. Every dish we ordered was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We had the duck bao buns (my favorite!), mussels,, and sizzling shrimp for starters, and the surf and turf and pistachio crusted salmon for dinner (these were on the v-day menu) --each one was delicious. The portions were just right. The service was excellent as well--attentive and friendly. We left feeling happy, full, and already talking about what we want to try next time. A fantastic spot for a date night or any occasion where you want great food and great service. read more

Wonderful new restaurant. We went last night for the grand opening, though we didn't know it was their grand opening. Pretty busy evening. The staff was definitely overwhelmed/in the weeds but they pushed through really well. Our waitress in particular was incredibly attentive. We did make reservations (Open Table) because it was a Friday night. We were seated immediately. The crab dip app was great. And the staff was passing along samples of various foods, all of which were interesting, unique to us, and very tasty. Our meals were great. The chicken sandwich (they have a much better name for it!) and the Miso Salmon tasted wonderful. We'll definitely try to return. I hope Elliot's lasts a very long time here. Went to Elliot's Kitchen with my friends Preston and Dj and had a great overall experience. The the staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time! As for the food, it definitely had promise, but I felt it could use a little more seasoning to really shine. In particular, the rockfish lacked some flavor that would've taken it to the next level. Nothing major, but just enough that I noticed it. Also the aesthetic is a bit much it feels like they're trying to do a lot all at once, which can be a little off putting considering the clientele that could end up being there. Also I'd personally love to see is Elliot's lean into a sports-bar vibe during game days it would make the restaurant a great place to gather with the homies to watch a game while enjoying food and drinks! Side note: Maybe even themed nights, because it is a potentially great date night vibe! read more

Went to try Elliott's Craft Kitchen on a Tuesday night and it was pretty quiet. My sister and i tried a little of everything as we typically do when trying new restaurants. Everything was amazing. The service was great and the food came out quickly. We met chef Ryan who made us feel so welcomed and our server Tori was also super friendly, attentive, and excellent at her job. The highlights for me were the ribs... just wow. Best ribs I've ever had. The flavor, the smokiness, the hint of sweet and the fact they fell right off the bone... mind blowing. I hear they are on HH Also. I will 100% return for those. The chicken was super moist and well seasoned . The sizzlin shrimp had a great flavor paired with the bread... a great decision. The Duck Boas were delicious also. I'll be back for the burger also. I hear that's a star. read more

Some of the food was really good such as the chicken wings with house made blue cheese dressing and the mussels. However, overall the food was somewhat bland. Service seemed disjointed but perhaps that is something they will work through over time. Dishes came out at different times with noticeable delays for two. Went there for the cream of crab in a sherry in a sherry broth and was disappointed. Not very creamy and oversalted. Would consider a return visit if they survive a half year. We went in for a work happy hour with the hopes of having appetizers and drinks. The appetizer menu had a few good items like wings and ribs but all the portions were small and not enough to share with a group of 8. So we opted for the food and that was disappointing. The salmon burger was dry, too little sauce and the flavor was lacking. The chili was way too salty. The burgers were also dry. Everything was not worth the price. The service was ok, they food took a while maybe because there was 8 of us but the place was empty so I can't imagine what it would be like if the place was packed. If you like a farm like, home feel atmosphere then this is a great place to visit.i was impressed from the moment i walked on & saw the empty table to the left of the entrance .... Tribute/in remembrance of "mother and father which I thought to be so touching, especially for those of us who have served in the military. In military ceremonies.. an empty small table/seat is present as a remembrance/tribute to service members who became prisoners of war (POWs), missing in action (MIAs), or killed in the line of duty. The empty table:seat represent their absence at h the ceremonies due to being POWs, MIA or no longer with us. We have this tradition as a solemn promise that they are/will not be forgotten. Our waiter Jess (sp) was phenomenal & provided great customer service. The crab dip was the best we have had, but their rockfish or Asian inspired miso salmon was delicious. The coconut ginger sauce that came with my son was good but I think if it was accompanied by an Asian inspired glazed on the side it would have been superb Both fish were seasoned to perfection. I was under the impression the green beans would bd sauté (which is how I like) but other than that all was on point & tasty. We will def come back to try another dish. And as a side note, the lemon drop (my ho yo drink) w/Titos as my choice of vodka was right on near perfect. Great place overall read more

I honestly don't know why this place has such a low rating. I had the hibiscus spritz and margarita which were both great drinks. My calamari was great and my Moroccan cauliflower was also super yummy. But the best part was how amazing my server was. He was very attentive, kind, and just fantastic. I saw him even mixing the drinks. I would show pictures but I ate everything. I am from out of town and have struggled to find food here worthy of a review over the past few days. (I believe my home state has better flavor). But this place definitely deserves it. read more

I've been a bunch of times. The menu is thorough. The wings and the crab cake are banging. The calamari and the crab soup are also delicious. I had the cheeseburger last night. We went there Sunday afternoon and decided to try a new spot. I think this was formerly FGI Fridays. We should have taken the hint when there were hardly in cars in the parking lot. There were two servers working and I think one of them was the cook, at least he was dressed that way. It took forever to place our order and seemed like even longer to get the food. I got a cup of cream of crab soup, which was really good. They didn't serve it with any crackers or oyster crackers. I got the grilled chicken sandwich. The bottom bun was so soggy that I could not pick up the sandwich. I had to use a fork and knife. My husband got the pork sandwich which he said was just "ok" and needed something. The fries were cold and not seasoned with anything. Maybe if they hire more staff, the service will improve. The menu is one page and very limited. read more

Went for the first time the other night and had a great meal. We had the mussels, Brussels sprouts to start and both were very tasty. Entrees were pork schnitzel and salmon and both were great. Polenta and spatezle sides excellent. Server was very attentive as well. Overall a very good experience. Third time here, stopped in for a drink and small bite while running some errands, sat at the bar and ordered drinks while contemplating what to have as a small plate. Bartender was unfriendly, slams warm water on the bar, never asked us what we would like to eat. Paid for our drinks and left!! WOW, is that any way to treat customers? Will not return!! read more

I came for lunch with my best friend. It was so relaxing to be there. We loved the cocktails we ordered, the service, and particularly, the taste of the cheeseburgers. I asked for a hot sauce and received a delicious spice mixture on the side. The dessert (which we shared) was also very good. Beautiful presentation, setting and service. read more

Our waiter, Jonathan, was excellent and accommodating. The Cauliflower is an excellent main course, considering I am not a vegetarian. The espresso martini was also excellent since it was made with fresh-brewed coffee. The cream of crab soup taste was superb although a little light on the crab meat. We recently dined at Elliott's Craft Kitchen on a Saturday evening in September. The interior of this new eatery is pleasantly appointed, and the booth in which we were seated was comfortable. While this restaurant is new, there are a few issues. First, while our server was pleasant, it is apparent that the front of the house staff is not well trained. Wait staff should be knowledgeable of the wine list. Our server admitted that she was not and offered to bring a sample of the wine in question, fair enough. However, there appeared to be at least two and possibly three managers, of which, one should have been flagged to discuss the wine selections with us. We also noticed that our server seemed to have tables in various parts of the restaurant, which did not allow her to be present at key points, e.g., within a few minutes after our entrees were served or when we were ready for the check. I'd suggest grouping the servers' tables together, so that they are able to better monitor and check in with diners. We also were told about an appetizer special, but we only discovered that there was an entree special by listening to one of the other servers nearby. Second, the actual food was just okay. The caprese salad was swimming in oil and would have benefitted from a touch of acidity that a balsamic or citrus dressing would have added. The beet salad would have been better if the beets were actually more uniform in cut and if there was more (or any) of the promised goat cheese. Both were in need of fresh cracked pepper. The entrees (crab cake platter and miso salmon) were both under seasoned. Yes, I saw the saltshaker on the table, but at these price points, we expected a much more complex flavor profile from the kitchen. Also, we were not able to make a reservation from the restaurant's website, which was strange. And there were some typos on the menu, most notably in the spelling of Brussels Sprouts. We'll try again in the new year to see if there are improvements made. read more
