We have been to the sister property Galway Bay in Annapolis but had not been to Killarney House until recently. We went on a dreary Friday night and had a great time. Killarney is the bigger cousin of Galway. The lamb Shepards pie and the stew were the perfect choice for the evening. A lively place with very professional wait staff. We will be back and soon. On a chilly afternoon, I decided to check out the Kilarney House and am I glad I did. It's right off the road in Davidsonville and easy to get to from the nearby nursery. The place is incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and just welcoming. I was seated promptly, and my waitress recommended the Irish stew, which is what I went with. She also recommended a very tempting tasting flight, and I'm not going to admit to enjoying that while on lunch break. I'm not denying it. I'm just not admitting it. The stew was fantastic and really hearty. It warmed me up almost as much as the flight of... tea did. I couldn't resist getting dessert. 12/19/25 My wife and I were heading to Annapolis and decided to stop at Killarney House for an early dinner. When we walked in, we noticed the specials board. My wife saw they had black bean soup and a pork special, so we decided to stay and were seated. Since our last visit about a year ago, they've made some changes. The seating has been updated, with a second bar added along with high-top tables and booths. The space looks very nice. Our server came over, took our drink order, and we asked for a bowl of the black bean soup. When he returned, my wife asked how the pork special was, and he said it was very good, so she ordered it. I ordered the cod fish and chips. When the food came out, everything looked good at first. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were very greasy -- it seemed like the fries were placed on the plate to soak up the grease from the fish. My wife's pork dish was worse. She was given two slices with connective tissue running through them that were so tough she couldn't even get a fork into them. The other piece was also extremely tough and difficult to cut, and the gravy had no flavor. When our server finally came back to check on us, my wife showed him the pork. His response was simply that he would let the manager know and take it off the bill. There was no offer to replace the dish or bring her something else to eat. After that, we never saw him again. My wife eventually asked another server for tea, which a different server brought. Later, another server came by to see if we were finished. I asked how much the eggnog was, and she quoted the price for a bottle, said I just want a glass, she said I'll get you a menu I explained to another waitress I just wanted a glass. Eventually, I got it -- though I asked for it without ice, and it still came with ice. At that point, I just drank it. The best thing was the bean soup. Overall, this was not a good meal and honestly the worst experience we've had in the 10+ years we've been coming here. Between the food quality and the lack of follow-up from our server, it was very disappointing. It will be quite a while before we return. read more

Went on a weeknight and place was packed around dinnertime. Loved the new menu. My mom had the potato leek soup. A+. She had the Murphy's pot roast which is a standard yummy menu item. Nicely done comfort food. I had fish and chips. The platter, which I had, had 2 choices...fried rockfish or cod...both being wild caught prime. I got the cod. It was as I had hoped for. Meaty and yet juicy inside a crispy batter. (Note the sandwich mentioned in another review is made out of flounder. ) Even the coleslaw was good. Service was great. The entrance to the place is like entering a wonderland with all the lucious plants winding all over the entrances. It just feel special even before you get inside which sets a wonderful tone for what's to come. A group of 7 went there yesterday and every other dish looked great ... but mine. I ordered the Pub Fish Sandwich with chips. I've had this before and the fish was thick and bigger than the roll. Yesterday, the fish was only a big as the roll and it was maybe 1/2 inch thick. Frankly, there was much more lettuce on the sandwich than fish! In addition, it had a fishy taste. This did not taste like a nice fresh filet at all. The chips were delicious. The server was hard to catch, but very pleasant. I gave him a decent tip despite waiting long for the check and the sandwich being unsatisfactory (not his fault although he never came back, and I could not voice my discontent). I'm in no hurry to return--which is sad because I like the ambiance. read more

I really WANT to give them place 5 stars because I do love it and thinks it's great except for some pricing things and customer transparency. Walking into this place is a charm that I felt growing up in my childhood in Queens, NY in the Irish community I was amongst and pubs we would spend time in in Ireland when my parents would take us back to Co. Kerry and Co. Mayo every summer. It's as authentic as you could get especially in an area of Maryland that you wouldn't expect to find this gem. The staff is lovely and their front of the house man, Oliver made me feel like we knew each other forever as we discussed GAA, the DC pub scene and connections we had in NY. I have worked the pub scene for years during graduate school, and if I was the owner, the presentation laid out is exactly what you would want. I'm a Guinness and Magners drinker so happy to see they had Magners at least in a bottle and I'm guessing only bottles because of the cost of the barrels. The food is absolutely delicious, but I think they are off on some of their pricing and it may just be an oversight. For instance, one of my favorite options on the menu is Corned Beef Poppers which is priced at $17(should be in the $14.50-$15 range) that sooo good but not anywhere near a full meal if you were just having that, but I also love the Irish Breakfast priced at $18 reasonably that could feed 2 people full meals(very delicious-would like to see authentic sausages as many of the DC pubs have been able to find but the banger is decent) The main issue for me is something here that I never seen anywhere else-you are given a tab for let's say $39.15 but then they run your card for $41 and then recognize some convenience fee that maybe was figured was added in already. I just don't think it's necessary and adds in questions for a waitstaff in the end that they probably don't need to deal with. All in all, just wanted to give my feedback and say congrats on nailing the concept right here and providing a terrific atmosphere with a solid staff-I do believe ownership needs to take a look at just a few things though! I came here after a funeral with my family and really enjoyed the food and decor. Something about Irish pubs is so inviting and warm, and Killarney House has some great food to boot. A somber day warmed up with rich tasty food and excellent hospitality. Our table had lots of tastes and appetites and all were met. I had the salmon salad and my brother (a butcher) raved about the quality of beef in the burger, which we later found out is sourced from a special kind of beef, I think locally, but the quality impressed. It's worth going in just to learn more about the menu. Everyone was friendly. and the owner, a delightful white haired Irishman with horn rimmed glasses and a mustache, even came and chatted with us and asked how it was. We talked about the changes the restaurant has gone through over the years and he listened to my cousin's many suggestions. We had a laugh when I asked if he'd consider adding more British food. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. This place is the real deal. read more

My wife and I took our son and grandson to Killarneys for a birthday lunch. It was a busy lunch time but eventually we were getting very special attention. The waitress was very much home style like we were family. The meal was first class. I had fish and chips, exceptional fish and more fries then I can eat in a week. My wife had an Irish bacon and cheese and another truck loan of fries. My grandson had an Irish plate with slices of corn beef, he couldn't stop eating. When you find a restaurant that has a consistency of excellent food you can count on EVERY time, you know you have found a real gem. I defy anyone to find a better Beef Stew than here-I could pour that delicious gravy on cardboard and be happy. The mashed potatoes are ones of my dreams-beautifully creamy with NO (thank God!) skins!!! And I can never come here without getting the terrific-and unique-carrot and parsnip side dish (it goes beautifully with the stew) My husband is over the moon for the corned beef (not my thing) and claims it is the best he's ever had. Our go-to Irish eatery, we enjoyed a fantastic date night out Our go-to Irish eatery, we stopped by for a date night out- food was as delicious as expected: I ordered my usual Irish Breakfast, my husband the fish & chips The Irish Breakfast was scrumptious- well-charred tomatoes, thick slices of grilled ham, melt in your mouth sausages crisped to perfection- large slabs of black and white pudding that tasted fresh, fluffy, and hearty- well-seasoned eggs, and they let me swap fries for creamy carrot parsnip mash Husband's fish was buttry, flaky, crispy, juicy, well seasoned paired with crispy outside & fluffy inside fries The best part....the Irish soda bread- many Irish places in the area can't pull off soda bread, so table bread is 'brown bread' but Killarney's had authentic soda bread-raisins and all. Jenn C was our server and she was wonderful and so helpful! The shepherd's pie, beef stew and pot roast are absolutely incredible and are the best dishes at this restaurant and best in the DMV area. My favorite dish is the pot roast, it is so tender and just melts in your mouth. Highly recommend Killarney House. The customer service is always amazing and the food is so delicious. Went for Saint Patrick's day and it was crazy crowded and parking wasn't easy especially for handicapped. We drove a ways so we decided to eat at the bar. Best fish in chips I've had in a while. The Sheppard pie was a little salty to me. We also ordered a side of cabbage that had a lot of the core in it. Will try it again, when not so busy. read more

It was time for Killarney House again. This place has consistently churned out some terrific food on the long haul. I give it 2 big thumbs up all around. Tonight, I had the 584 Dexter Burger - medium rare with a good charred grill to the outside and moist, red meat inside. Honestly, I do not know how they got the medium rare so perfect. This burger might just be the BEST burger I have ever had anywhere. The quality of the ground beef, which they say is an Irish Beef raised locally in northern Maryland, was noticeable and outstanding. The grind was thick and chewy. Seriously, it was like eating a fine steak. And the toppings are all good accompaniments to the beef. My only complaint - I wanted more Dexter sauce on the burger. Delicious!!! Do yourself a favor and drive out to Davidsonville for the 584 Dexter Burger. You'll be happy that you did!!! read more

The food was delicious!! We had meatballs as an appetizer and they were super soft and the orange glaze was perfect. I had the beef shepherds pie and it was incredibly well done. He had the pot roast and the meat was very tender with a really good gravy. The ambiance is generally really cute. We went there for my friends birthday and I hadn't been there in years and the food was phenomenal, the service was fantastic and the owners were very friendly. I went to Killarney House tonight with my daughter. I had a taste for Bangers and Mash. When we go there there was a band playing in the bar. We got there just in time for me to finish humming Tennessee Whiskey to the band. There were no more seats, so we sat in the main part of the restaurant. I ordered Chesapeake Bangers and Mash, which consisted of Old Bay seasoned bangers (sausage), ale onion gravy (very flavorful) and champ potatoes (mashed potatoes). My daughter ordered the Shrimp Scampi, which consisted of juicy shrimp, creamy lemon scampi butter, crushed red pepper, parsley atop pappardelle pasta. It's that time of year for egg nog, so you know I had to get a glass. It was so good. It tasted like a spiked dessert in a glass. Our server's name was Stephanie and she was awesome. She had several tables, however she gave each table equal and undivided attention, which I feel is a real skill. I highly recommend Killarney House and will definitely be going back again. read more

So fun and decor inside is like the old county, rather than AA county country! The oysters O'Reilly were delicious and perfectly cooked. They also offer Liver and Onions! The Guinness Zero is a 10! Good place for large groups especially when Naptown is packed for events. read more

I dont live in the immediate area, but have dined here several times over the years. Service is always fantastic - helpful but not intrusive. And the food? Oh, the food! Have never - never! - had a bad meal here. Today had the fish and chips. The fish was so good, tasted of the sea but not a heavy "fishy" taste. It was fried in a lovely light batter. Chips were nice, also. Others in our party had the pit smoked turkey dip sandwich and the Rachel Reuben sandwich. And of course that fantastic tomato whiskey soup! I have upgraded my rating because: 1) the owner cares enough to read and respond to reviews 2) the health score grade could be an estimate by a company named Hazel Analytics and might not be an actual score from the Health Department. To the owner - search Killarney House on Yelp, scroll down a bit and you'll see where I got the health score and the scores for the past several years. If there's a company out there pulling numbers out of their butt that negatively affects your reputation, you should go after them. As far as the two photos that I've posted, the point is to show information that was included on the Killarney House Yelp page. If this isn't accurate, you better get them to take it down because it will affect some people's decisions. As far as the convenience fee, maybe post it on the menu or door in a conspicuous place. Let folks know from the beginning what to expect instead of after the fact. Yes, the fee is posted on the bill, so to me and numerous other patrons, it's expected to be paid. Brussel Sprouts were warmed under the cooks arm pit. The steak had more fat than meat on it. Otherwise it's a nice place.

First of all, let me say that my family and I have been coming here for years. I's one of the few places in our area that has anything remotely close to an Irish menu. That being said, I have noticed a serious decline in the place and the most recent visit on St. Patrick's Day itself just proved my theory correct. They are going more for the quantity, than the quality. In my case, I placed an order online for carry out. I don't live close, so I checked the order before I left and discovered it was missing an item. They did correct that after a long wait, then I get it home only to find that the order is still wrong. I had two orders of fish and chips and no corned beef and cabbage. Again, I don't live close, so my dad who Loves Corned Beef and Cabbage and really doesn't like fish was now stuck with, you guessed it...fish and chips. The restaurant is lovely, and the atmosphere is great, but the service lately just doesn't seem to have the appeal it used to. I feel they are in it for the numbers, not so much the quality towards their customers. read more
