This is the first place that I've been carded at for going into a restaurant, but I guess being in a college town will do that my friend and I had a reservation and we sat on the top floor. Upon sitting down, our server was just not our cup of tea, pretty passive aggressive through our entire dining experience. He also didn't even bother to provide our check at the end of the evening. I stopped by Watershed during happy hour. I ordered the steamed peel and eat shrimp for $10 and the coconut curry mussels. The shrimp special is advertised as a half pound, which ended up being only five shrimp. Unfortunately, they were also served cold when they arrived. Service was friendly throughout the meal, but my two coworkers received their Maryland crab soup and Drunken Sailor Noodles before my shrimp even came out. When my mussels finally arrived, they were served with a small piece of baguette. The coconut curry broth was sweeter than expected, and the mussels did not left me feeling great afterward. I also tried some of my coworker's Drunken Sailor Noodles and found them to be lacking flavor. While the happy hour pricing is appealing, I was disappointed by the overall food quality. That said, Watershed does have some positives. The service was good, the atmosphere is very nice, and they offer both indoor seating inside Cross Street Market and a rooftop patio that is dog friendly. This was my first time at Watershed. It was a lovely day, and we chose to eat outside on the rooftop. We were seated quickly, and our waiter came right over. TLDR: Scenic rooftop views and solid orange crushes, but slow service, mediocre food, and a questionable 3% "facilities fee" make this more about the location than the dining experience. Watershed in Federal Hill sits on the backside of Cross Street Market in the old Nick's Seafood space, and like many Atlas Restaurant Group spots, it clearly leans into the atmosphere. The big draw here is the rooftop deck, which was exactly why my group of six came on a sunny 60 degree Saturday afternoon hoping to enjoy some drinks outside. Not surprisingly, the rooftop was packed. According to the bar manager the restaurant was a bit understaffed that day, so things felt a little hectic. Luckily we weren't in a rush and were just there to enjoy the afternoon. Our server did a good job getting drinks out quickly, and most of our group went with orange crushes. They were solid and you can even order them in a massive 32 oz cup if you're leaning into the day drinking vibe. Where things started to fall apart was the food and overall pacing. After our drinks arrived it took about 40 minutes before the server came back to take our food order. Once the food finally came out, it was pretty underwhelming. The crab dip was $24 and was mostly a plate of cream cheese with very little actual crab. The cream of crab soup was one of the saltiest bowls of soup we have ever had and was borderline inedible. A couple people ordered the oyster po' boys which were fine, but the oysters were pretty skimpy and it was nowhere near the level of anything you'd find in New Orleans. The biggest head scratcher came when the bill arrived. Our tab was over $380 and already included an automatic 20% gratuity, which is totally understandable for a larger group. However, the restaurant also tacked on a mandatory 3% "facilities fee" at the end of the receipt. Charging guests extra for using the restaurant's facilities just feels a bit slimy. If costs are higher, just raise menu prices instead of slipping additional fees onto the bill. At the end of the day, Watershed is really about the rooftop and the location in Federal Hill. If you want a sunny spot to drink crushes with a great view, it accomplishes that. But when it comes to the food and overall value, there are definitely better options nearby. read more

Listen, I went to Watershed with my significant other, and it was everything, and something's not needed, lol. A very big shout-out to bartender Zay--he'll never get the chance to have us walking sideways again! We sat at the bar, and Zay was prompt and wonderful. He was so daggone friendly that we told him we trusted him to make whatever drink he would like. That was a mistake; don't be like us, but better. Zay made the best cinnamon dulce espresso I've ever had, and he made my date a cinnamon old-fashioned. He was in a cinnamon mood! We flagged him down after he gave us our drinks because we needed "bread." Our food came out maybe 10 minutes after placing the order. He then made me another espresso, and at this point, I asked him if he wanted me to sing at his wedding.
