I'm new to Maryland and the whole Maryland crabs culture and this was my first time trying them. The crabs were good but just a lot of work and the rest of the food was decent. The service was really good and they taught us how to crack the crabs. The ambiance is a lot bigger than I thought but overall good vibes.

Delicious and fun experience. I tried the crab cakes, they were so tasty. Next, I tried one large crab. I take forever to eat crab because I get all the nooks and crannies lol grandma taught me not to waste any food, y'all! I was sad that I came at night and they had run out of the jumbo and ginormous size crabs. I love the simplicity of just eating a crab on a brown-paper-lined table so you're free to make a big mess and it's easy to clean up for them. They provide a cute little hammer to crack open the crab legs - and they sell it as well for $3. I bought one as a little souvenir because I love crab and thinking about eating it makes me happy hahaha. Overall highly recommend getting your crab fix here (or any of their other locations) if you're visiting Baltimore! Locals recommended this place to us. It's great because it's not pretentious and prices are very reasonable!

Great crabs and seafood. Got this recommendation from a blog post and it was right on. I got the old bay fries, soft shell crab, one blue crab and a crab cake lol. Everything was great though I think I prefer fried crab to the mallet.

Service was super friendly! Great atmosphere for seafood! Loved the crabs & mussels!!! Super tasty & definitely would recommend!

It had been a minute since we had last been here, but we had to stop again. The seafood is fresh and delicious.. It was surprisingly busy mid afternoon the last time we came here it was kind of slow, but we're glad that it was still lively, and the service was great.. the only wish as usual is that I wish that they served the broil with potatoes and corn, but you have to order those on the side if you want them and they didn't have them this time around. I highly recommend though if you want fresh seafood. This time around we ordered the items separately instead of the sampler..

Great steamed seafood! Not pictured were the hushpuppies, old bay fries (with old bay ranch, delicious, and a cup of half and half soup). So good.

This restaurant always seem to be pretty well stocked for crabs. Our second trip here and we knew this was going to be our lunch spot for this trip. They had large size and a new ginormous size and we when all in on the ginormous of course. Polished off a doz of ginormous and tried to get 4 more and they were sold out, we had t in settle for large. Looking forward for the next trip to the area.

3 years later and this place is still my favorite crab spot. I come here a few times a year and they've never disappointed me. We actually recommend them to everyone and whenever people visit us we bring them here for crabs if in Baltimore. The order we get is kind of the same each time- I always get the half and half cup of soup, and I get a couple of large steamed crabs. My bf always tends to get the fried pickles and the Francis Scott trio- raw oysters, clams and grilled scallops. Service is always great here, and very friendly and attentive. The best part is we always tend to find a seat outside and we tend to bring our dogs along with us. They always make sure to bring out some water for our dogs (We carry water with us but it's the kind gesture that counts).

We stopped by for an early dinner this past weekend. It gets busy quickly, because we arrived before 5 PM and were seated on the third floor of the restaurant. There were already lots of full tables! Our servers were attentive and we got and finished our food within 1.5 hours. OLD BAY FRIES - 8 For those not familiar with Old Bay seasoning, it's used in a lot of curly fries, so it reminded us of curly fries. It was fresh and good, but some pieces had way too much seasoning so it was incredibly salty. LOCAL OYSTERS - 2.5 These were OK, I got three of them. It wasn't very briny, and I needed a lot of cocktail sauce and horseradish to enjoy them. PREMIUM OYSTERS - 3 I got two of these and they were much brinier and tastier. I would pay an extra 50 cents for premium oysters. JUMBO HOT STEAMED CRABS - MKT Price We paid 11.67 per crab! I got two of them, which was a good amount for me. The shell had a generous coating of Old Bay seasoning, and we were given wooden mallets to assist with breaking the shell to enjoy the crab meat. The crab body had a lot of meat that went well with the side of butter. I lowkey gave up on the claws and legs, so i didn't eat too much of that. Very crusty fingers afterwards! Overall, pretty decent find, we enjoyed our crab dinner at L.P. Steamers. I would highly recommend stopping by for early dinner to avoid the rush and long waits.

Went to visit Baltimore for the crabs. I love this place for its sea food. They have their tables covered with disposable covers to help with the yucky process of opening up a crab. Service to sit down was quick and our order came out really quickly (we also came on a random weekday). I remember just being in front of a big screen tv that was playing the Orioles baseball game. We got 1 Maryland blue crab. They asked if we wanted a male or a female one. We didn't know the difference and honestly didn't even know how to use the mallets to open it. We did learn that female crabs have orange/yellowish goo inside. I wish they would have given a tutorial or asked us if we knew what we were doing because I am sure we didn't get half the crab meat out. We also ordered hush puppies and fried onions which were pretty basic and decent. We liked the dessert type dip that came with the hush puppies. The steamed sampler is pretty good if you like mussels. They gave a bunch of mussels, oysters, clams. The dish also had shrimp (which I wish had already come removed from the covering) and shrimp sauce. I really liked the lobster it came with. The lobster tail was ready to be consumed immediately.

It's outside of the touristy area so I feel this is a bit more local fav than tourist fav. It's in a good looking old building. Have downstairs and upstairs seating. The vibe is very casual. Paper trays and plastic utensils on paper table covering. One thing really standout is the use of Old Bay seasoning. It's also coated on the steamed crabs and shrimps we ordered. Not sure if it's possible to not having it on as it starts to get salty after a while. But everything was so fresh. We ordered the crab cakes, Maryland blue crabs, shrimps, oysters. These were amazing! We also added a salad (came a huge bowl of it) and some fries. Everything came out very quickly and the price is also very reasonable. Absolutely loved our meal. Must try!

So glad we stopped here! The old bay fries are SO good! Definitely recommend getting those. I got onion rings and fried oysters. The oysters were so good! My husband loved his burger, as he is not a seafood fan but came here for me. Everything looked delicious around us as well! We enjoyed walking around this area and definitely recommend checking it out if you are traveling to Baltimore!

    Assuming it byob?

    They serve beer.

Does it get busy on Sundays for lunch?

    This restaurant kid friendly?

Yes. They have high chairs that accommodate kids that can sit up, or infant car seats. It's pretty tight, so not a lot of room for a stroller, even if folded up. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and I'm sure they'll work with you.

Is this in the inner harbor?

No, they are to the southeast of the Inner Harbor, but well worth the short drive.

Do they serve broiled crab cakes or is the only option fried?

    Either way, they have 'em

Do I need to make a reservation for dining in?

When I ate there last week they recommended calling about 20 mins before you're planning on arriving to cut down your wait time

Can you have separate check for the same table?

Yes. But a check can only be split up to 5 ways .

Do they have jumbo lump crab cakes? I don't see it in their menu

Yes our Crabcakes are made with lump and colossal (which is bigger than jumbo lump)

Any recommendations on parking in the area?

I have never had a problem finding nearby street parking on, or just off, Fort Ave.

Does anyone know the recipe for THE B'MORE RANCH SERVED WITH THE OLD BAY FRIES?

It's top secret ;) ssshhhh It's:… Read more

So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices

Seating: Indoor seating with room for about 20 people inside the market. Vibes: You're right in the heart of Old Town / Fells Point -- the touristy but charming part of Baltimore. I dig the vintage brick roads, the historic feel, and the mix of locals and visitors passing through. The space sits inside a lively market (1640 Aliceanna St) with that true Baltimore seafood vibe -- casual, approachable, and full of movement. It's not fine dining; it's flavor-first, no-nonsense, and welcoming. Great for a quick grab-and-go or to sit down for a casual meal. FOOD/DRINKS: Crab Soup (A-Ok) Simple but hearty. It reminded me of a tomato-based soup with crab mixed in -- nothing too fancy, but warm and satisfying. I appreciated the richness and good amount of crab meat. I'm more of a clam chowder fan, so next time I might go that route, but this was still solid. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff clearly know what they're doing and keep things moving without losing that personal touch. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, solid flavors, and a classic Baltimore seafood feel. Sal and Son's Seafood isn't flashy, but it's genuine -- a go-to for a comforting bowl and a true local experience. I'll be back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area. TIPS: * Check what's on special -- they rotate and have plenty of combo options.

It's probably because one meal was simple (crab cake sandwich, fries), and the other may have taken longer to cook to order (shrimp and chicken jambalaya). The shrimp and chicken jambalaya was also executed well. Also, I highly recommend trying the fresh fruit drinks. We got watermelon and pineapple, and "refreshing" doesn't begin to describe how good they were. The service was straightforward and to the point, which works for me. The establishment is located inside of a market. We went on a Sunday, so this was one of the few eateries open. I'm imagining that it is probably more jumping on other days. If I'm in Baltimore again, I'll definitely consider visiting again and exploring more of the menu.

Much to our dismay, we saw people seated outside even though we had received a text before arriving saying the patio was closed for the evening.
