I decided to take my baby boy to Sunday breakfast here. The restaurant is so cute and is nautical themed. The outside of the restaurant is shaped like half of a ship. The place sits on the corner of Boston st. When we arrived at 10:30 am there were no other patrons in the place. As time went on the place started to fill up. Our waitress Gina was so kind, attentive and provided great customer service. We ordered the hangover burger, the Crab frittata and the vanilla bean creme brûlée. It was all delicious. My son loved his hamburger and the Crab frittata was good. I really like that they have Old Bay as a seasoning at the table. We really enjoyed the creme brûlée that comes with fresh fruit on top. There are no complaints since both of our plates were bare. I found there prices to be very reasonable. I will definitely come back to try more entrees.

I haven't been inside CJ Landing in decades. Stopped in for some crabs and other items. This is more-so of a chill, family oriented environment. Everything was good and and waitress was attentive.

Been to the crab house across the street in the summer time and really enjoyed it (the service and over seasoning of crabs aside) but I'd never been here. Apparently, I was missing out! Came here with a Groupon and the value was great but I'd come here without one, too. Service: Jayda was our server. She was soooooo sweet! And on it! She took great care of us and made some bomb drinks. Want her as my server every time. Food: yummmmm. Crab fries: the cheesy crab fries were good as hell! Very filling. Worth the price. Captain's platter: so, so good. The garlic green beans were damn good. The crab legs were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The salmon was good. Shrimp and scallop were bomb, too. Drinks: Pepsi products unfortunately, but the white sangria? Yes, ma'am! I had two and felt great. Kids meal: spaghetti and meatballs. A great serving size and very tasty. The presentation was great, too. The Thai orchids were a cute touch. The ambiance inside was chill and casual but could be dressed up or down. We were downstairs. The restaurant is very cute inside. I love a theme and this one was well done. I'm looking forward to my next visit. An app + kids meal + two drinks + captain's platter (two sides, salmon, crab legs, shrimp and scallops) + pepsi ran us about $92. Very worth it!

The main reason we took the drive down to Bmore this past weekend is for one thing - crabs! So after getting a couple of recommendations from the front desk person at our hotel and doing a quick search, we decided to check this place out. And glad to say we were happy we made that choice. We actually ended up eating at the restaurant and not the crab house (set on the water) which, given it a bit warmer than we thought it was going to be, we didn't feel like being outside that day. We were immediately greeted and asked how many crabs we were playing to order. A few months later the host brought us to our tables and our waitress followed up quickly to get us and explain some special things with the menu. She was really great - very friendly, attentive and welcoming. All of the staff members were pretty hospitable. The decor felt like a elevates, modern crab house feel with the wooden tables and chairs, nautical colors, etc. Food wise, we ordered the Calamari and Boston St. Crab Dip for apps; then a half dozen crabs and corn for the entree. It was allllll DELICIOUS! Everything was very fresh, cooked perfectly and seasoned well/tasty. Appreciated the crab dip was a good balance of the mixture/filler and actual crabmeat, plus it being a bread bowl dip made it better in my opinion. Calamari had a nice crispy and, again, more actual pieces of the seafood instead of a bunch of breaded peppers which can sometimes happen at restaurants. Crabs were well seasoned and my boyfriend really enjoyed them - he ate most of the whole crabs himself lol. If you find ourself on Baltimore and longing for some crabs, this is definitely one place that should be on your list to check out.

The crabs were not fresh! The crab soup was decent The service was mediocre. She actually argued with me about the quality of the crabs. The ambiance was okay. There was a bad smell outside. The inside melted like rotten fish.

At the recommendation of family, we had to come and try Captain James. This was a really cool restaurant in the shape of a ship outdoors, parking lot right across, and indoors..it felt like we were on a ship. Our server was outstanding, even demonstrating the best way to eat the crabs by putting on gloves and showing us herself. We ordered oysters, mussels, and crabs, of course. Also, a seafood stew soup. Everything was fresh and delicious. I had forgotten how much work it takes to get the crab meat out. it was definitely an experience. We finished our meal with desserts. We had the apple crumble (which you have to order ahead as it takes 15 mins to cook) and the chocolate cake. Both were good, but the apple crumble was delicious. I would go back there just to order it again. Great ending to our meal. Make reservations ahead of time.

I'll start off my review with saying Captain James Landing and Captain James Seafood Palace is one in the same. I thought it was still Landing until I saw the sign in the parking lot. My husband and I had not been here in some years and decided to stop in and have dinner. No reservation! The greeter, who was extremely professional and nice stated it would be about 10-15 minutes and if we would have a seat. I honestly don't even think it had taken that long before we were seated. The seating area was nicely spaced, the design gave it a nice feel for patrons who wanted to eat a meal meal or those who just wanted crabs. The bar was off to the side and I must say my classic margarita with the sugar rim was out of this world. If you've read any of my other dinner/restaurant reviews, you know a classic margarita with a sugar rim is my go to cocktail and I'm very particular about the taste. Kudos to the bartender! Our server, Joyce was on point with everything. I loved her greeting, knowledge of the menu and that she gave her name last with a smile. She periodically checked on us and was overall, one of the best servers I've had. My meal was salmon with a ginger soy sauce- delicious and filling. My husband had the seafood Alfredo which he also enjoyed. Tonight's dinner was perfect- wait time, greeting/service, food/drink, price, parking are all five stars and I will return.

My family and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch while visiting Baltimore. The restaurant was set up like a ship inside and out. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The grilled octopus was a stand out! The fried oyster po'boy was great. There is a kids menu. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Six adults and three kids (gratuity was included for a party of this size). Street parking and a parking lot available.

Awoken this morning with these puppies, pun intended in my mind! I just happened to be near Captain James Landing and checked out the website and was pleasantly surprised to learn they sold them. They came out fresh, delicious, sweet and were paired with a home made honey butter spread. Our server, Joyce was awesome, pleasant and on her game. For a holiday, it was surprising to see how many people were in the restaurant. Of course I had my staple Appletini and it too was delicious and full of cherries like I like it! Can't wait to go back again soon!!

I had a nice group dinner here during my visit to Baltimore. I was hoping to try out crab cakes during my trip and Captain James Landing did not disappoint! We came as a large group and I decided to split the captain's signature crab cake with a friend. The crab cake came out with a light crunch on the surface with a wonderful texture on the inside. I appreciated the quantity of meat in the cake. The green beans were also quite tasty. I did find the amount of food on the smaller side considering the price. After observing some other friends' orders, I could see that there were other menu options with more quantity for a similar price. Our server was prompt and very accommodating of our large group. The layout of the restaurant was also a treat with the nautical theme and boat-like windows overlooking the street. This would be a nice spot for anyone wanting to check out some seafood on their visit to Baltimore.

    Emmie C.

Very nice customer service but very time consuming to hit the crabs with hammer and do all the work to get the meat out. Blue crabs are available to order in medium, large and XL. We got the XL. But honestly, the crab sizes they showed us looked very much the same between the large and XL, except for thr claw parts. Be sure to ask for a bib, coz hitting the crabs with the wooden hammer is super messy.

4/13/24 Ship shaped building, hehehe Make reservations!!! We didn't know, so we had to wait. It was our last night in the area, so we opted to wait. Brady was helpful and put us on the list and called us as soon as a table was available. I must praise his patience with all of the rude customers who didn't make reservations and expect him to let them in... Britney was so busy but still made time to check in on us! Summer Storm and Orange Crush Good drinks Grilled Octopus Very good, I could have had this as an entrée Lobster Stuff with Crab Tender lobsters and good crab stuffing Broil Seafood Platter I liked the variety of seafood on this platter. Everything was seasoned well. Next time in the area, I definitely want to visit the landing, which overlooks the river.

We had an excellent dining experience at Captain James. It was the perfect spot for our family of 6, including a restless toddler (he devoured the generous serving of kids spaghetti and meatballs) and someone who doesn't really enjoy seafood (she liked her burger and fries). The hush puppies were hot, fresh and delicious - loved the honey butter. The crab dip with pretzel chips was cheesy & hearty with a good spice level. The halibut special was great. My husband and I split the seafood broiler which was a great way to sample the menu - one scallop, 2 shrimp, crab legs, salmon and crab cakes - even the rice and green beans were tasty. Our service was great - overall, a great experience for a family meal!

My friend said I had to come here. We did. As soon as we stepped out of the Uber the adventure began. The building is so out dated but the entrance door held its charm. Neon lit Edgar portrait reading from a book his Annabel Lee. Complete with a bouquet of flowers. To the right more words of the writer surrounded with a few tables and chairs for those willing to chill in the cold. Inside was no different. Several crows, skulls everything you'd expect. And a well stocked bar. Many writings on the wall, articles, awards, etc all added to the vibe and theme. And of course dimly lit but you could still read the menu. We were guided to the back for our party of 5, in a corner away from everyone else. That made it easy for us to converse as we perused the menu exclaiming this and that of the dreadful names used and deathly ingredients mixed in. It definitely made it more appetizing. After working all day I was ready for a drink and settled on the To Isadore; gin, lavender syrup, lemon squeeze topped with segura cava. That hit the spot. Unfortunately, I had eaten quite a bit on this trip and forced myself to order the Chef Salad. Nothing more to say there. My wife, though, ordered the seafood lasagna. Never had that and it didn't sound like something I could get into. I was wrong. This is Baltimore. The seafood here is astounding. It was delicious and had to take a couple spoon fulls. My friend ordered the double beef patty burger. I was jealous until he offered me a bite. That was really good too, and juicy. If you're looking for an experience and are not too afraid you may want to visit Annabel's. I do recommend it and do insist coming after the sun has been well down.

For actual dinner, the restaurant itself had an eclectic menu and swanky decor. The service was spotty. I had to ask for water refills 2x. Also for a group of 12, it took about 7 mins for everyone to be served food. Yes, this is a large party, so you must have several servers come bring the food when you're charging these prices. It should've been a seamless experience but we had several friends waiting on their food while others were halfway through. The food quality itself was hit or miss. The pork belly app was delicious! Crispy and tender. But the octopus was overly chewy and weird. We had 2 dishes with it and both were cooked like that, it wasn't good. The lobster poutine was delicious and went quick. Paella was okay - the shellfish was overcooked and seemingly dried up. Drinks were good and staff was friendly. Overall, there are a lot of kinks to work out. I'd like to come back but at the price point, I wish our experience was better and wish the food was more consistently good.

He answered all my questions, stayed in communication, and really helped bring the whole vision together. We had close to 30 people for the dinner in one of their private dining areas, and when I say the staff was impeccable... they were ON IT. My friend had no idea where she was going, so this was a full surprise. Once we gave the staff the green light, they were ready and immediately started accommodating everyone. Everything just flowed from there. We did family-style appetizers, which I loved because everyone got to try a little bit of everything. Everything was flavorful and came out at the perfect pace. For my entrée, I had the salmon and it was so good. And listen... I hosted the whole thing, ate there that night, AND still had leftovers to take home. That's always a win. Whenever I see a local restaurant/chef nominated for such an award, I try to get there to see what it is all about. Unfortunately, my first visit was not good. It began with our seating. For this outing, I was with my wife. We arrived and were immediately seated at a small two-seated table directly in front of the main entrance. The restaurant was extremely busy, and the table we were seated at was basically at the crossroads of all the traffic. Also, the location was very cramped and made it hard to move. With that, the worse of the problems was actually being so close to the main entrance on a cold evening. The door was constantly opening and closing allowing blasts of frigid air each time. That made our seating exceptionally uncomfortable. I can sometimes look past bad seating, understanding that it is important to get as many people in so the restaurant can make money. Many times great food can make up for shortcomings in other parts of a restaurant. Moreover, amazing service can really make me forget about those seating issues. To start, we got the Arancini Funghi appetizer. To my concern, it seemed to come out exceptionally fast: about 4-minutes after we ordered. And wouldn't you know it, the arancini was frozen most of the way through. It took a decent amount of time for the server to return, he was very nice, and took the frozen appetizer away. It took over 10-minutes for a new one to come out. At that point I was agitated. When I tried the new arancini appetizer that was brought out, it was cooked well, but had almost zero flavor. Needless to say, I was done for the night. After another long break of waiting for the server, who was very attentive to a four-top a few tables away, came back, I told him to cancel my order. My wife did get hers. Now, back to the service. We went for long intervals without our server coming to see how we were doing or trying to actually remedy the situation. He was constantly focused on the four-top that I guess was going to be the better tip. I guess since I had canceled my main course, he knew the tip would not be as good. In any case, the service was lackluster for the whole evening. My wife got the Ricotta Cavatelli that came with lobster. To me, it looked too soupy. She said it was a little soupy but was good. Personally, I did not try it and was ready to go. In the end, we were also charged for the arancini appetizer that had to be re-fired. I was not happy about that. If a restaurant makes a mistake, the customer should not be charged for it even if they receive a re-fired replacement. Our server, even though very nice, was not very attentive to us and more worried about a four-top. The frozen arancini was frustrating. The re-fired replacement was flavorless. Our table was in a terrible location and we were constantly blasted by gusts of cold air the whole time. In the end, the experience was not good. Will I return to give Marta a second chance? Yes. I don't like writing negative reviews, but the experience was bad enough for me to write one. When I return, and the experience is much better, I will write a new positive review. Until then, 2 stars is all I can give.

Note, my daughter had put ketchup on plate before realizing the oversight. So, when the MANAGER brought the food back, I'm thinking it was a show of good faith given the error. Nope. He had a smug attitude and puts the plate on the table where I immediately notice the original plate was reused because it had the ketchup smear. I asked him if this was the same sent back plate of food and he said "yes" and said the added the avocado. They UNWRAPPED the original wrap and just added the avocado and brought the entire plate back. I immediately questioned how that follows food handling guidelines. If they weren't going to redo the order, they could have just brought avocado slices to the table! The MANAGER had a very dismissive, RUDE attitude and so I sent everything back and left. I did tip the waitress cash because she was great and had got us drinks by that point. Again, she was nice and side-eyed the manager agreeing what he did was not acceptable. Apparently he also had a rep for being rude and nasty. I will never eat there again. You have a kitchen with seafood and meats and have no food handling controls? Yeah, miss me with the risk of food poisoning or cross-contamination. No thank you! You're rude to customers and have no standards? Whoever runs the kitchen should know better as should the manager. I can only imagine what else goes on in that kitchen. Dine there at your own risk.

I came here to have dinner with a friend around 5:45 p.m., and the atmosphere was honestly one of…read morethe highlights of the night. The restaurant felt very romantic and intimate, and it wasn't crowded at all, which made it perfect for a relaxed, cozy dinner. I ordered the lamb shank with vegetables. The lamb was tender and satisfying, and the vegetables were especially delicious. The dish could have used just a little more seasoning, but overall it was still very enjoyable. My friend ordered the lamb wings, which he didn't love he felt they were a bit tough but he didn't send them back or make a big deal about it. The restaurant itself is really cute and tucked away nicely in Fells Point. It has a warm, inviting vibe that makes you want to linger and enjoy your meal. I'd definitely come back again, especially for a low-key, romantic evening or a chill dinner with a friend.

Hey friends! We were in Baltimore for Monster Jam and wanted a nice brunch nearby. It's a nice…read moreoption as it's less than 10 minutes(driving) from CFG Bank Arena. Twist is a Mediterranean style restaurant that offers a BYOB brunch. They have few overpriced options for juice if you would like to make mimosas or cocktails. We ordered a pineapple juice pitcher($15) to go with our bottles we brought in. I ordered the breakfast burrito, it came with a side salad & potatoes. The food was satisfactory! Service was slow and poor. Yes it was busy, but, the amount of times we had to call for service was unacceptable. Our server brought a cooler to place our bottles in then we were forgotten about. Our server finally came and took our order with no machine or notepad. We were skeptical about our order being wrong, and SURPRISE, it was wrong. My boyfriend ordered the Twist Royale with pancakes but was brought French toast. We informed our server and Not only did he only bring ONE pancake back, he also took the French toast slice. What's the point of taking it back? It cannot be re-served so it would've gone in the trash anyway. He also never apologized for the inconvenience. -Beware of the $8 corkage fee per person for BYOB. -Parking can be rough especially on weekends. -Prices are high. We spent about $90 for two people.

We popped in right at 7 one morning before work and actually beat the server and the hostess there. The staff was friendly and mostly left us alone but for frequent coffee refills, and the food was about what I expected from a restaurant that is basically a different version of IHOP. The bacon was thick and crispy and way better quality than anticipated and the over easy eggs were cooked perfectly, which is rare. The protein and buckwheat pancakes were nice surprises on the menu and were quite tasty. The neighborhood has a dearth of true weekday breakfast places, and this is a nice option. It's also huge and could easily accommodate a large crowd.

Ordering the Florentine Benadict fresh tomato, spinach, and the best hollandaise sauce I've tasted. It comes with a side of french toast, made with fresh brioche brought it daily from a Baltimore bakery. We also tried the Shrimp Skillet, fresh jumbo shrimp on potatoes with avocado, spinach, peppers and two eggs your way. There is a wide selection of all things delicious on the menu that will definitely have us coming back for more!! Our server Kate was awesome!! She made excellent and honest recommendations such as the Florentine Benedict hyping the up French toast as it deserves. OPH closes daily at 2:30 but you'll want to get there early, certain menu items are made to order and will be a 30 - 45 minute wait. They are also happy to accommodate large parties!
