Came here with my friend because we were in the mood for crabs and ended up ordering a dozen large. Absolutely delicious! The crabs were meaty, seasoned well and fresh. We also had it with garlic butter and vinegar which was the perfect touch. We also ordered old bay honey wings and those were so crispy, tender and flavorful. Lastly, we ordered steamed shrimp and the shrimp were huge and steamed to perfection. The service was great! Miguel was our server and he was such a bright spirit, very nice, attentive and enthusiastic about the menu and providing us with service. We will definitely come back to this spot as the crab season continues to come in full swing!

Great value with our Groupon ($16 paid for $40 worth of food). Unfortunately they were not seating outside, which we were looking forward to, but we got a table by the window. The calamari was delicious and crisp! The fish and chips were made with flaky trout but the piece of fish was thin and they didn't automatically offer vinegar. Bottle beer was a great price point at $6. Our bill was just under $60 before the discount. There's a parking lot too!

Captain James is one of my favorite places to dine in this city. Breakfast, lunch or dinner I'll be at the big boat. The service is always attentive and friendly. Even if I don't have reservations I'm usually able to get seating at the bar or just wait a few minutes. Restaurant ambiance is perfect for all occasions.

I decided to take my baby boy to Sunday breakfast here. The restaurant is so cute and is nautical themed. The outside of the restaurant is shaped like half of a ship. The place sits on the corner of Boston st. When we arrived at 10:30 am there were no other patrons in the place. As time went on the place started to fill up. Our waitress Gina was so kind, attentive and provided great customer service. We ordered the hangover burger, the Crab frittata and the vanilla bean creme brûlée. It was all delicious. My son loved his hamburger and the Crab frittata was good. I really like that they have Old Bay as a seasoning at the table. We really enjoyed the creme brûlée that comes with fresh fruit on top. There are no complaints since both of our plates were bare. I found there prices to be very reasonable. I will definitely come back to try more entrees.

Health: Not awful. As you can see from the all American menu, it's got its blend of salads, pastas, seafood specials and more. Nothing outstanding. Nothing egregious. The selection provides enough options to build a healthy meal, but it doesn't cater to it. Price: A mixed bag, but overall a bit overpriced. While cheaper options like the club sandwich can have abundant portions for only 12 dollars and basically come with a side of fries, other options are unaffordable for most. 48 dollars for lobster tails? 45 dollars for an 8oz filet mignon? Really? Experience: I ordered takeout and after arriving was directed to the back of the restaurant. There I was greeted with a small alcove with torn seats to eat on. The front of the restaurant? Filled with more than abundant space. Not exactly a great feeling. Taste: The food is alright. Their grilled octopus was seasoned well, but a tad less grilled then I usually prefer or am used to in other places. The turkey club and fries were both average. I've had better. Overall, I might come here again. Eh. I'll try dining in next time. Maybe.

I haven't been inside CJ Landing in decades. Stopped in for some crabs and other items. This is more-so of a chill, family oriented environment. Everything was good and and waitress was attentive.

The main reason we took the drive down to Bmore this past weekend is for one thing - crabs! So after getting a couple of recommendations from the front desk person at our hotel and doing a quick search, we decided to check this place out. And glad to say we were happy we made that choice. We actually ended up eating at the restaurant and not the crab house (set on the water) which, given it a bit warmer than we thought it was going to be, we didn't feel like being outside that day. We were immediately greeted and asked how many crabs we were playing to order. A few months later the host brought us to our tables and our waitress followed up quickly to get us and explain some special things with the menu. She was really great - very friendly, attentive and welcoming. All of the staff members were pretty hospitable. The decor felt like a elevates, modern crab house feel with the wooden tables and chairs, nautical colors, etc. Food wise, we ordered the Calamari and Boston St. Crab Dip for apps; then a half dozen crabs and corn for the entree. It was allllll DELICIOUS! Everything was very fresh, cooked perfectly and seasoned well/tasty. Appreciated the crab dip was a good balance of the mixture/filler and actual crabmeat, plus it being a bread bowl dip made it better in my opinion. Calamari had a nice crispy and, again, more actual pieces of the seafood instead of a bunch of breaded peppers which can sometimes happen at restaurants. Crabs were well seasoned and my boyfriend really enjoyed them - he ate most of the whole crabs himself lol. If you find ourself on Baltimore and longing for some crabs, this is definitely one place that should be on your list to check out.

The crabs were not fresh! The crab soup was decent The service was mediocre. She actually argued with me about the quality of the crabs. The ambiance was okay. There was a bad smell outside. The inside melted like rotten fish.

At the recommendation of family, we had to come and try Captain James. This was a really cool restaurant in the shape of a ship outdoors, parking lot right across, and indoors..it felt like we were on a ship. Our server was outstanding, even demonstrating the best way to eat the crabs by putting on gloves and showing us herself. We ordered oysters, mussels, and crabs, of course. Also, a seafood stew soup. Everything was fresh and delicious. I had forgotten how much work it takes to get the crab meat out. it was definitely an experience. We finished our meal with desserts. We had the apple crumble (which you have to order ahead as it takes 15 mins to cook) and the chocolate cake. Both were good, but the apple crumble was delicious. I would go back there just to order it again. Great ending to our meal. Make reservations ahead of time.

I'll start off my review with saying Captain James Landing and Captain James Seafood Palace is one in the same. I thought it was still Landing until I saw the sign in the parking lot. My husband and I had not been here in some years and decided to stop in and have dinner. No reservation! The greeter, who was extremely professional and nice stated it would be about 10-15 minutes and if we would have a seat. I honestly don't even think it had taken that long before we were seated. The seating area was nicely spaced, the design gave it a nice feel for patrons who wanted to eat a meal meal or those who just wanted crabs. The bar was off to the side and I must say my classic margarita with the sugar rim was out of this world. If you've read any of my other dinner/restaurant reviews, you know a classic margarita with a sugar rim is my go to cocktail and I'm very particular about the taste. Kudos to the bartender! Our server, Joyce was on point with everything. I loved her greeting, knowledge of the menu and that she gave her name last with a smile. She periodically checked on us and was overall, one of the best servers I've had. My meal was salmon with a ginger soy sauce- delicious and filling. My husband had the seafood Alfredo which he also enjoyed. Tonight's dinner was perfect- wait time, greeting/service, food/drink, price, parking are all five stars and I will return.

My family and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch while visiting Baltimore. The restaurant was set up like a ship inside and out. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The grilled octopus was a stand out! The fried oyster po'boy was great. There is a kids menu. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Six adults and three kids (gratuity was included for a party of this size). Street parking and a parking lot available.

Awoken this morning with these puppies, pun intended in my mind! I just happened to be near Captain James Landing and checked out the website and was pleasantly surprised to learn they sold them. They came out fresh, delicious, sweet and were paired with a home made honey butter spread. Our server, Joyce was awesome, pleasant and on her game. For a holiday, it was surprising to see how many people were in the restaurant. Of course I had my staple Appletini and it too was delicious and full of cherries like I like it! Can't wait to go back again soon!!

I had a nice group dinner here during my visit to Baltimore. I was hoping to try out crab cakes during my trip and Captain James Landing did not disappoint! We came as a large group and I decided to split the captain's signature crab cake with a friend. The crab cake came out with a light crunch on the surface with a wonderful texture on the inside. I appreciated the quantity of meat in the cake. The green beans were also quite tasty. I did find the amount of food on the smaller side considering the price. After observing some other friends' orders, I could see that there were other menu options with more quantity for a similar price. Our server was prompt and very accommodating of our large group. The layout of the restaurant was also a treat with the nautical theme and boat-like windows overlooking the street. This would be a nice spot for anyone wanting to check out some seafood on their visit to Baltimore.

We ordered the small raw seafood tower, the steamed seafood platter, and the lobster pasta from the large plates section. We are a family of four with a pretty big appetite, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food for us. Everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. The raw tower came with cocktail sauce, mignonette, horseradish, and lemon slices, and the steamed platter was served with melted butter and nicely seasoned spices. There was also hot sauce and Old Bay seasoning on the table so you could customize everything to your taste. Once the seafood arrived we got fully busy with our hands and all the tools provided, which honestly made the whole experience even more fun. I genuinely cannot pick a favorite because we enjoyed every single thing we ordered. I also tried the Orange Crush, which I learned is a Maryland vodka drink made with freshly crushed fruit juice. That drink was dangerous because it tasted just like orange juice, but the vodka definitely sneaks up on you. Since we were celebrating, dessert was on the house, which was such a thoughtful touch. We shared the cast iron baked cookie with salted caramel ice cream and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The cookie was crispy around the edges, soft and moist in the middle, and the slight saltiness from the ice cream paired so well with it. Our server, Lylah, was wonderful and made sure we always had everything we needed throughout the meal. This ended up being such a memorable dinner for our family. Highly recommend The Choptank for seafood, celebrations, and a fun dining experience in Baltimore.

The waitress made a bunch of mistakes that she never apologized for like not bringing a bottle of wine we ordered until an hour after we sat down, accidentally ordering an additional seafood platter and not removing it from the check, not including fries with a dish that came with them, then charging us extra for them when we asked her to please bring them. In total lunch took over 3 hours when it should have been half that at most. Good help is hard to find these days it seems.

Her father's best friend since 1st grade, her godfather, offered to treat us to Thames St Oyster House and we could not pass up the offer. We'd been before, she'd been several times. It was her dad and godfather's favorite place to celebrate big occasions. We loved it. As we sat down at our table her godfather exclaimed "Well I'm not the only one paying for this meal, I've been waiting to use this." It was a $100 gift card from my fiancé's late father, in his handwriting. We were floored. We all got choked up and cried a little. It felt like her father was giving us his blessing from beyond the grave. The oysters were phenomenal. The crab cake was amazing. The local beer was perfect on a hot day. Then it came time to pay. We were horrified when the waitress came back with the gift card and told us it was expired. Expired? There is no expiration date printed on it which means it is legally valid indefinitely. She explained that they changed POS systems since the card had been purchased (again, by my fiancé's late father before he was taken by cancer) and that the new system did not recognize it. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." No offer to grab a manager to see if a portion of the meal could be comped. Just $100 spent by a dearly departed that Thames St Oyster House does not have to answer for. A very tender moment ruined by poor customer service. They've lost 3 repeat customers.

They did just that. I chose to sit on the 2nd level because it was a little warmer up there and I was able to have time to myself to catch up on my Yelp. The smell alone was amazing when they hit the table -- perfectly crispy with truffle seasoning and Parmesan cheese, and the citrus Parmesan aioli really took them over the top. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the Sully Smash Burger with bacon added, cooked perfectly medium. The chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy, hot, juicy, and flavorful. Everything came out fresh and satisfying without feeling overly heavy. Great food, friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and definitely somewhere we'd return to next time we're in Fells Point. And we found parking nearby so we didn't have to walk far!

I visited Kooper's Tavern a few days ago because I was craving a burger…read more I ended up ordering a smash burger, a beer (their signature lager), and Old Bay chips. The beer was great--definitely a highlight. The burger, however, wasn't smashed at all and felt pretty basic, aside from their secret sauce, which added some flavor. The chips were good as well. Overall, I'd return for the views, location, and reasonable prices--but I wouldn't order that burger again.
