The waitress made a bunch of mistakes that she never apologized for like not bringing a bottle of wine we ordered until an hour after we sat down, accidentally ordering an additional seafood platter and not removing it from the check, not including fries with a dish that came with them, then charging us extra for them when we asked her to please bring them. Came here for a celebratory family dinner while visiting Baltimore for the first time, and we knew we had to try seafood since Maryland is famous for its blue crabs. We ordered the small raw seafood tower, the steamed seafood platter, and the lobster pasta from the large plates section. We are a family of four with a pretty big appetite, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food for us. Everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. The raw tower came with cocktail sauce, mignonette, horseradish, and lemon slices, and the steamed platter was served with melted butter and nicely seasoned spices. There was also hot sauce and Old Bay seasoning on the table so you could customize everything to your taste. Once the seafood arrived we got fully busy with our hands and all the tools provided, which honestly made the whole experience even more fun. I genuinely cannot pick a favorite because we enjoyed every single thing we ordered. I also tried the Orange Crush, which I learned is a Maryland vodka drink made with freshly crushed fruit juice. That drink was dangerous because it tasted just like orange juice, but the vodka definitely sneaks up on you. Since we were celebrating, dessert was on the house, which was such a thoughtful touch. We shared the cast iron baked cookie with salted caramel ice cream and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The cookie was crispy around the edges, soft and moist in the middle, and the slight saltiness from the ice cream paired so well with it. My friends and I came to get a bunch of appetizers and drinks. Hostess told us we were not allowed to sit at a table unless we all ordered entrees. While in Baltimore for a work conference, we held a team dinner here. The weather was perfect, so we opted to enjoy one of the many outdoor tables (there is plenty of indoor seating as well). If you sit indoors though, you'd miss out on the cute neighborhood ducks that waddle in- a highlight of my night. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive the entire visit. We ordered a variety of dishes, however I can only speak to my dish which was the seared Sea Bass with a side of green beans. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and although it was a little under seasoned, the grilled lemon helped add some citrus notes. I found it odd that the fish entrees were treated like a steak, meaning they do not come with any sides, you have to order them ala carte. The green beans that I ordered for my side were good, but nothing special, especially for the price. Now let's talk food, because wow. I ordered the half & half soup (half Maryland crab soup, half cream of crab), and it was hands-down the best crab soup I've ever had. I'm not exaggerating it was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. So good that we later came back for soup to go, and then also DoorDashed soup that night because we realized we were going to want more. That should tell you everything. I also got the lobster roll with crab and bacon fries, and I'm still thinking about it. Unreal. My friend ordered the pan-seared rockfish with loaded mashed potatoes, and her meal was just as incredible. Everything came out fast, hot, and beautifully prepared. The restaurant itself is gorgeous clean, comfortable, stylish, and welcoming. Every staff member we interacted with was helpful and kind, and the whole experience felt effortless. Yes, prices are a little on the higher side but this is seafood, and nothing felt shocking or out of line for the quality you're getting. Completely worth it. What really blew my mind was that when we stopped back later, it still wasn't busy maybe 10-20 people total, on a Thursday night in Fells Point. Absolutely baffling. Bottom line: This place is now a mandatory stop anytime I'm in Fells Point honestly, probably daily if I'm in the area. Incredible food, great drinks, beautiful space, and top-notch service. The outdoor seating is the best here and I would personally choose that over the indoor space any day. The service was excellent shout out Xavier for a great dinner experience. I am 6 months late in writing my review but I visited Choptank in August 2025. It is located in fells point right by the water so I would definitely recommend trying with friends who are visiting Baltimore to show them around! My friend and I sat outside and the staff were nice enough to move us when we realized our first table was directly facing the sun. Once we were seated at the table under the shade, we were ready to go. Our food was yummy and they even brought out champagne for us since we were celebrating my friend's engagement and my birthday. Their mimosas were also very yummy! The only caveat was that we were surrounded by bees the entire time we were there. I think we hit some sort of shift change, we were ignored for quite awhile by both parties. We also came for brunch on a Sunday. There was live music and the service inside was much more friendly. Dined here during a weekday happy hour around 6:00. The outdoor courtyard area bar was quite busy- because of the warm day we open for the indoor bar seating. Surprisingly, we were only one of two parties seated inside. The restaurant is very large and has nice, coastal ambiance. Our bartender, Nick, was so friendly and made some great cocktails. We were able to enjoy quite a few items from their happy-hour menu including the orange crush cocktail that Baltimore is known for I guess (was tasty), the oysters (fresh and delicious though a little on the small side), their gigantic meatball, and their warm crab dip (recommend adding more old bay). The location was great during our stay at the Admiral Fell hotel. We pretty much just had to walk across the street. The weather was very nice so we sat outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The loaded fries were absolutely loaded with crab meat, cheese and bacon. You pretty much had to eat it with a fork. Very good! This is in my top 5 best crab cakes. Loved it. Lots of lump meat with just the right amount of seasoned flavor. Im super picky about coleslaw and I loved theirs because it was not drowning in dressing, the cabbage was crunchy and the slight sweetness of the dressing combined perfectly with the cabbage. Not a great experience overall. The music was so loud we were shouting to people right across from us. We were seated at a table 3 inches away from another table. We asked to be at a booth table before they sat us down and they said it was set for parties of 8 only but they sat parties of 7 (the size of our party) after us. Then the service was not great. My sister had a drink that couldn't be sipped on without a straw and she sat for 20+ minutes waiting for the server to finally come by with a straw. The food took over an hour to come out and it was overpriced. It was not worth the wait. Lobster roll has small amount of lobster but it was $40 and it was bland. The mac and cheese was overly salty that it was barely edible. Crab cake was good and jumbo shrimp but fries were soggy and flavorless. The drinks were bland and yet super strong. Not worth the cost. Situated in the trendy neighborhood of Fells Point, The Choptank is placed smack dab in the center of the "downtown" area. Lucky for us, the weather was lovely that night (managed to avoid the rain) and so we were able to enjoy seating outside. Food was mostly delicious, with the exception being the roasted artichoke hearts which was really annoying to eat. The most memorable dishes we tried were the crab cakes, seafood platter, and the fresh catch fish. Service was great as our server mostly checked in on us if we needed extra bread, water, or any other things. Stopped in on the way home to the Eastern Shore for lunch and it turned out to be a fantastic decision! We've been there before for dinner with groups and dined indoors and found it loud. This time we ate out on the porch alongside Ego Alley. She had the Lobster roll and had to take half of it home - loved it. I had the Blue Catfish sandwich expecting a standard one filet lunch sandwich but since I want to create a market for blue catfish and find them pretty tasty, I went for it. I want to say this with all seriousness. This was the best fish sandwich of my life. Previously it had been a grouper sandwich at the Islamorada Fish Company 35 years ago. I finally found a better sandwich and only because I refuse to cross the Bay Bridge on a Friday is why I don't go back for another. Three filets seasoned and cooked perfectly on an unobtrusive bun paired with a Cesar salad was absolute perfection. I decided to take a picture after 2 bites since i knew I would do something I rarely do - write a review for Yelp. It's still good, but not worth it if you actually want an oyster flavor (it's also about 3 dollars per oyster). - The Flying Dutchman Oyster Shooter with tequila (3/5): If you like tequila and you like oysters you'll be a fan of this.
