He offered excellent suggestions and recommendations, and every dish we ordered was absolutely delectable. I had the lamb appetizer, cooked medium-well, and it literally melted in my mouth. It was perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. My partner ordered the short rib appetizer and couldn't stop talking about how it melted like butter. Both dishes were phenomenal! My absolute favorite drink was the Smoke & Mirrors. The bartender did not disappoint, they were generous with the pour, and after two of them, I left feeling happy! I want to love this place! The decor is amazing and I love the dj booth. We have tried this restaurant three times, and the service and food quality just do not match up with the price point. Our first time was during a slow Tuesday. We got good service because we were basically the only people in the venue. We wrapped up our meal early because a fire alarm went off (because of the hotel next door we were told) and it would not turn off and we couldn't hear each other. The second time we had a reservation. We were seated after waiting a few minutes. We sat for 20 minutes with no water or drinks or even being greeted by any wait staff. We left. The third time was restuarant week. The dirty martini was the worst drink I have had in awhile and it was $20. Service was friendly but took forever. We never got water refills. No fun containers for the adult happy meal + we had to request the advertised included glass of wine. My friends and I decided to do something a little different and order some different things to share. The country buttermilk biscuits and jam were heavenly, with that pan crisp on the bottom too? Next up was the cheesesteak egg rolls - very flavorful and the sauce was good. We did crispy roasted brussels sprouts with bacon. YUM. We also did the dirty south chicken and grits, which was exciting for me bc I'm allergic to shrimp, and it's almost always shrimp served with grits. We parked in the neighboring garage as the open lot across the street was for monthly pass holders only, bummer. There were a lot of parties in the establishment and several birthday's. All in all our food was pretty tasty. The brussel sprouts had a good helpig of bacon and steak bites were cooked perfectly. The shrimp pompadour was really good, made in red sauce but was not heavy at all. The shrimps were a really good size. We ordered the smoking mirror drink, which was good. I tried to add more photos however something must be wrong with Yelp I was unable to. It's a nice location. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a lot of historical and meaningful photos. There was also a live DJ playing some really good music. The food is overpriced, and the portions are small. All of the food was unmemorable. The server suggested Bronzino, which is a fish. I generally enjoy however this fish lacked any flavor or any interesting notes. My husband had the short ribs. He was not impressed he tasted a little and boxed it up, and took it home. It was tender however the portion was extremely small and was just short ribs. Nothing special. One really good thing were the appetizer crab balls Our server was okay except he bought the check before offering a dessert menu. The cinnamon bun, chicken and waffles, sausages and Caesar salad. The cinnamon bun didn't taste of cinnamon, but of butter and a mild orange/weak citrus. The glaze lacked flavor, just mildly sweet. The sausages had what I think was a coating of maple syrup but crusted on. Both of these weren't finished. The Caesar salad was okay, but nothing special. My dining partner partially enjoyed the Chicken and waffles but didn't finish them. There was some disorganization during ordering which may have been due to service understaffing. Ordered items being forgotten, etc. Ambiance and vibe was nice which we both enjoyed. We both agreed that this is more of an appetizers and drinks spot. Probably more the later. I was looking forward to visiting this restaurant but I was sincerely disappointed with the service we received. The good: decor and ambiance! Extra plus for the dj! The bad: when we arrived we saw that it was busy which we were fine with! We were seated within 5 mins but that's when things started to go downhill. It took us over 2 hours to get our food! We asked our server for an eta and it took her 40 min to come back. We noticed that there were tables larger than ours that came in after us received their food and drinks way before us. We flagged down a different server and as suspected our server forgot to put our order in! Within 10 mins of flagging down someone else y were able to get us our food. But even that was a disaster, two of our plates were flat out cold! They did remake them and took the off bill but the entire experience left a sour taste in our mouth. The original server could've just simply came over, apologize for the oversight and offered us a beverage or something that would've been better. She came over AFTER, we had finished to say she was overwhelmed-- that was too little too late. The espresso martini I ordered came out looking like chocolate milk and had to be sent back. We also ordered the mimosa bucket for six, which is supposed to include pineapple, orange, and cranberry juices--however, they were out of cranberry and just brought two orange juices instead. Food quality was disappointing. The croissants tasted stale, and the honey drizzled on top was bitter. The biscuits were also hard, topped with the same honey and powdered sugar. I ordered catfish and grits but was served fried salmon instead, and our server was unaware of any menu change. A friend asked for an omelette with peppers but received jalapeños instead. The shrimp and grits lacked flavor. Service was slow. We also paid $26 for just three small chicken wingettes over a box of fries, which felt unreasonable. On top of everything, there were discrepancies on our bill. The manager and staff tried their best, but there were simply too many issues to find anything positive from this visit. The server let us know things are different from what they used to be. Managers are quitting. The overall morale is not what it was. For appetizers, we ordered the Caesar salad, lobster ravioli, and the cornbread. Caesar was like any other Caesar. Ravioli was creamy and delicious and the cornbread definitely hit the spot! For main, I ordered the shrimp and grits. The grits could have been cooked a bit more and felt very hard. The shrimp was well seasoned. Overall, the food was good but honestly didn't seem to match the price we paid. The portions weren't that large and I felt slightly underwhelmed by the whole experience. We were given a glass of free bubbly, which was lovely. We went with the cauliflower appetizer and I had the burger for my main. The cauliflower app was AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would return just for that. The burger...well, it was a lot. It had too much cheese on it (I pulled off 2 slices and there was still more left on the burger). Additionally, the burger was super moist and had soaked through the lower bun. Something about it really ruined my appetite and I was only able to eat half, and all the fries which were pretty good. After we ate, we moved to the bar and that was a much better experience all around, not due to service but from a social standpoint.
