Recently visited for a family dinner and while I have been here so several occasions, each time I leaved very full and pleased! The service to start off is great despite how busy it was. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is however a dress code which comes as a surprise given it's not a super fancy restaurant imo.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Granted I have never seen anyone come dressed short of nice and presentable so I'm unsure how strict they are about it. Food wise, we got calamari for the table and this time I got the crab imperial. I was skeptical because I always get the crab cakes and I was unsure how I would like it given how heavy it sounded but it was delicious! I have to say I preferred it over the crab cakes 1) price point 2) quantity of lump crab meat 3) enjoyable throughout as it was not dry so it paired nicely with the sides.

TLDR: Classic Baltimore spot with solid crab cakes, nostalgic vibes, and a huge menu. Pricey, but portions and flavor mostly make up for it. Pappas Restaurant in Parkville is pretty much a Baltimore institution. They've been around since my parents were kids, and I've been an on-again, off-again diner here over the years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place shows its age, but in a good way, think old-school, family restaurant charm that brings back memories of eating out with the folks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They're most famous for their crab cakes, which Oprah once claimed were the best in the game. I wouldn't go quite that far, they're good and maybe top 10 in the area, but Baltimore's got better offerings. On my most recent visit, I tried the Seafood Club, which is basically a triple decker sandwich stacked with shrimp salad and one of their signature crab cakes. It was just as solid as I remembered. The crab cake held up, and the shrimp salad was creamy and well-seasoned. I came with a party of 12, so we were able to get a good sampling of the massive menu, and everyone left happy. One dish that really surprised me this time was the crab imperial. Jumbo lump crab smothered in a creamy sauce and broiled to perfection in a ramekin. It's basically a jazzed up crab casserole, and a great alternative to ordering two full crab cakes. Bonus, it comes at a slightly lower price. Speaking of pricing, Pappas isn't cheap. Most dishes fall in the $20-$40 range, so I'd consider it more of a special occasion kind of place. That said, the portion sizes are generous and the quality is there. Overall, while I don't fully agree with Oprah's bold claim, Pappas is still worth a visit if you're after a classic Baltimore seafood experience with a side of nostalgia.

We've been to a couple of other Pappa's locations but never to the original. We got here for lunch around 12:30 on a Wednesday and semi-busy. Sports Bar set-up with mixed seating- a Bar area, dining area and an area with a few TVs. Wednesday, they have $3 off Crab cake special. We ordered a Crab cake platter and a Burger. Crab cake was as delicious as I remember it. Side Caesar and Green Beans were very good. BYO Cheese Burger was ok. Beef had an after taste-not sure if it was the seasoning? Service was attentive and friendly. Would most definitely return for the Crab cake.

Great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Family friendly ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went with the summer restaurant menu. The appetizers we chose were salmon cakes (came on a bed of mixed greens & walnuts with a sweet dressing) and coconut curry mussels. The crab cake entree comes with 2 sides. The side salad portion was bigger than the potato salad. We liked the appetizer and entrees, as they were not overly salted like other places. The fenwick sampler for dessert came with 3 pastries. It was okay, not my favorite. Overall, it was a lot of food for a great price of $39.25 per person.

CRABCAKE EXPERIENCE: Overall an OK crab cake experience. The crab cake has a little too much filler for me and is broiled longer than my liking. I do appreciate their takeout order operation is a standalone outside on the side of the restaurant. The crab egg rolls also were a bit underwhelming as it seemed to have an imbalance ratio of filler to crab meat. For the price of the crab cakes here it is a good, cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive crab cakes in the region that are larger and better in quality. Give them a try.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT HERE!! So, I've Only had carry out from this particular location but I have eaten several times at the location in Glen Burnie. Needless to say it will not be the last time that I visit either of the restaurants. I love football season it's always a great time to fellowship with fellow sports lovers. And I am so glad I looked up this location to see what was going on for a Ravens game and it just so happens that they are also a Ravens roost location. The bartender was excellent all of them that we encountered and the food specials were irresistible!! Definitely check them out for game days and make sure you bring an appetite the specials started at about 7 PM and every half hour there was something different to try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Is well worth the inside experience![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is our third time eating here. Everything was amazingly delicious. I had the lamb chops with asparagus and baked potato and my husband had the double crab cakes. Someone else in our party othered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and stuffed rockfish. Service was great. I think we had Patrick who said we could also request him again next time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were a larger party so we had one of the long tables in the back right, which was nice and sort of secluded from the rest of the restaurant and we had a TV to ourselves as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had some family visiting from NY and they loved everything, said it was the best meal they had in MD.

Went here for a group Christmas dinner. Waiter and assistants were very attentive and made sure we had everything that we asked for within a timely fashion. There was a specific menu to choose from for your entree.all entrees come with a baked potato and family style mixed vegetables. I choose the salmon. Nice sized piece of salmon and cooked perfectly.

This was my first time at Pappas restaurant in Parkville. The restaurant is to the left of the building and they have a sports bar to the right. I ordered one of the chefs specials called The Bay and Backyard which is their 8oz crab cake and a rack of bbq ribs. I didn't know ribs could be so lean and they weren't that tasty. The ribs were flavorless and the sauce was lightly brushed on and had no taste. The crab cake was total opposite of the ribs and was fantastic. I see why Oprah voted them the best crab cakes before. They do know how to make a great crab cake. I ordered an alcoholic drink called a watermelon refresher which was okay. It was very light watermelon flavor. I would like to try other Pappas locations.

One of the best crab cakes in Baltimore! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love coming here for dinner or to watch the football game at the bar during football season![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Always exceptional service and a great vibe. Definitely recommend.

One of our favorite restaurants, especially for crab cakes. Consistent JUMBO LUMP 8 ounce balls of flavor with little filler. Been there twice this year and taking Mom again for Easter! Get the 2 crab cake platter and take one home to enjoy later. (As Dan mentioned, crab cakes are $3 off on Wednesdays.)

Came here again... but this time for happy hour. I ordered the white sangria. It was good but very sweet. I also ordered the Cream of Crab... yum! Absolutely delicious! I'll definitely try the half cream of crab and crab soup. But of course I ordered a side of bread lol! They didn't charge me for it either. Thanks Guillermo! Service was fast and good!

    Amazing crabcake meal!

Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. A final note is the lunch crowd started coming in around 12:15pm.

Locales and visitors enjoying a Monday dinner - crab cakes or pasta seemed to be popular. The latter may be attributed to the $2 pasta discount on Mondays. The quintessential basket on the table of stale cracker packets and tiny plastic containers of butter probably sitting out 24/7. Meh- why "Oprah" would order her crab cakes from here when the crab is not from Maryland, right? Once I heard that news from the waiter ( I asked, it was not volunteered) I opted for the local soft shell crab special. ( despite it not being season, I should have known better. It was a puny crab with hardly any meat and it was not properly cleaned either. Sides of overcooked brocolli and asparagus. Baked potatoes looked liked yesterday's overcooked option. My colleagues enjoyed the crab cakes which were large portions- should be for $40+ each. Service was friendly, food took too long- it was a long wait for mediocre overpriced food.

This was a nice and spacious event space with high top tables and chairs in addition to a long bar area. There were flat screen TVs mounted on the walls, so checking out the latest sporting events was not an issue. We got our bingo cards and dabblers and looked over the menu to order. There were two menus; the brunch menu and the traditional CVP menu. We got something from both: the CVP wings (mild), with tater tots from the traditional menu and paired it with the bottomless brunch drink package, which included your choice of house Bloody Mary, mimosa, screwdriver or Natural Light draft beer (you have to stick with one choice). The servers were pleasant and we placed our orders at the bar. The food arrived in about 30 minutes, but was warm, not as hot as I wanted. The wings were cooked well with a mild buffalo sauce and the tater tots came in a small metal bucket; enough for up to 4 people. They were fresh and not greasy, just wished they were hotter. For the bottomless brunch drink package, I chose the screwdriver and a pleasant server came over to our table and put a wristband on me so that I could walk up to the bar for refills. The vodka was well vodka, but I didn't have a headache the next day, so that was good! The upstairs area seems to be an event space. The downstairs area was the main bar with tables as well. All in all, CVP was ok for the event I attended and may visit again in the future.

First, I have to recognize Melony and the entire staff for the amazing attention they gave us. They made sure our party of 67 people had an unforgettable time. We were scheduled in the upstairs room, and if the weather had been better, we definitely would have enjoyed the outdoor patio as well. The band was great--loud, just as Melony had warned me--but it added to the fun atmosphere. The buffet was perfectly timed, coming out about 10 minutes after our party started, giving parents and athletes enough time to grab their drinks first. The food was constantly replenished, so nothing ever ran out. We highly recommend the shrimp tacos, chicken tacos, Philly cheesesteak sliders, beef sliders, chicken fingers, fries, Caesar salad, and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious! The staff had reserved tables for us, and although the restaurant was packed with our group, we realized we needed two more tables. As soon as I mentioned it, the staff quickly made it happen without any hassle. From start to finish, everything was seamless and stress-free. Thank you to everyone at CVP for making our visit so memorable. These New Yorkers will definitely be back the next time we're in Maryland for a lacrosse tournament!
